The quality here has gone down since they moved. Last two times I had the haddock and chips. The fish was so greasy it was hard to eat. The last time here 2 weeks will be my last, the fish was not only greasy but the batter was dark brown which to me means they are using old grease. Didn't even finish it. This is a very nice place for fish and chips. I ordered the haddock rather than the cod. I must say it sure tastes like cod. I'd give it about an 8. The tartar sauce I'd give about a 6. It's very rare that you find a fish and chips place that has great fish and great tartar. I would recommend this place and the next time I go back I'll try the cod. The cod looks very small in the pictures but I can assure you in person the pieces are not. My wife and I got there about 1:30 and a few people were there, but then they started rolling in. Looked like an elderly crowd. I also tried a side; the coleslaw. It wasn't terrible but I think I'll try a different one next time. My wife had the clam chowder which was pretty good and a very decent size serving. She did ask me if there's another one of these closer to where we live. Unfortunately this is the only one. The lunch special was 19.95 that came with a side and a drink. The service was great, very friendly. Second time trying this place out. First time was at the smaller location. The fish seemed a pretty greasy the first time.. (I know it's deep fried) It just seemed like the batter held onto a lot of the grease. We decided to try it again in the new location. This time we enjoyed the fish more. Huge portion of fish. I like that you have varying seat options. Booths, tables, high tops, bar. My only opinions to add would be to have something up on the wall menu wise so you can think while you're waiting to order instead of seeing the small one at the order counter. And probably our pet peeve is the cans/bottles of drinks.. seeing the fountain drink machine in the back and have it "not working" temporarily is not our jam. If it's "temporary" that cooler with the cans looks kinda permanent. Just saying. Also I feel like I got screwed. Wow, I think I'm back in England! Lovely serendipitous discovery! Clean, wheelchair access, the bathroom also has easy access and is very roomy for those with special needs. I wish they had seat protection covers but that's just a suggestion if they see this. The dining area is clean, light, small but roomy, and the tongue-in-cheek decor brings a smile to cheer you up They have two kinds of fish (Cod and Haddock) besides other fare. Ample serving size too I don't eat much usually and the very gracious gentleman at the counter suggested I take the mini-plate, which was one piece of Haddock and a small serving of chips. I also don't normally drink Coke, but I figured if I was going to "sin", go big or go home The fish was perfect. The chips were a bit soft so I asked him to please make them crispier. Real British style fish and chips. The owner is always super helpful and very passionate about the quality of his fish and chips. They don't work with any food delivery services because the fish would get soggy and give you the wrong impression of how crispy it is out of the fryer. The handouts my favourite cut because o prefer a northern fish, but the cod is great as well. The batter is always crispy and the fish is flaky and excellent quality. The owner has a lot of British friends who frequent the restaurant so you know it's legit when you see English folks. How do you go from the best fish in town to plastic / rubbery? Me and my husband used to come here all the time atleast once a week and since the change of locations I gotta be honest the service is not great aswell as keeping the place clean. There is food on the booths and tables they barely clean down after someone is there and for some reason the whole place reaks of BO. Went into restaurant today for the first time. Stand in line and pay up front. Of course, asks for tip on the credit card kiosk. In my opinion, asking for a tip before you've done anything is just plain tacky. I order the fish & chips, they give you a number and they tell you to choose an open table. I can appreciate the informal seating. The young girl brings food over and asks "is there anything else I can get?" So I ask for another container of tartar. She says, "you have to pay for it". I said fine. She then says that I have to get up and go to the cash register in front, stand in line again and pay for it (while my warm food is on the table). Oh, and I may lose my table. Geez! The fish was decent, piping hot. French fries were room temp and slightly soggy. They were edible with ketchup, but room temp food made me wonder how long before were they made? How long to accumulate germs. (I'm not a germaphobe, but my wife would have refused to eat it). The ambience was friendly and nice, and nice crowd there (when I was there most people were over 65). Worth the drive from Summerlin whenever I crave proper fish & chips. Glynn, the owner, and his son Jack will always serve you with good cheers and smiles. The cod and chips is more juicy and tender, whereas the haddock and chips is a bigger and meatier filet and more flakey. It's a matter of personal preference which suites your palate. I sprinkle some salt and worcestershire sauce for the initial few bites, and then get the curry sauce as a side to dip the cod filet (don't get mad) for a stronger flavor condiment to finish the last few bites. My favorite menu item is a small bowl of hot clam chowder to go with the cod and chips. It is better than Legal Seafood's in Boston. I always buy large containers to-go, cold, and throw it in the freezer to thaw & reheat later. read more
