Our coffee came out in less than 3 minutes--super fast service and great customer service as well. Not to mention, the prices for the sizes are very reasonable, and the coffee had a well-balanced sweetness with a nice coffee flavor. I visited this location on June 18 at approximately 4:00 PM and had a very disappointing experience. I ordered a regular iced vanilla latte and waited more than 15 minutes in line despite there being only one customer ahead of me. After placing my order, I waited an additional 15-20 minutes for my drink. During that time, staff asked whether I was still waiting and had to verify my order, claiming that someone may have already picked up my drink. I had been standing there the entire time and never saw a regular iced vanilla latte prepared or served. When my drink was finally made, I asked for a cup of ice water. I was told there would be a charge for it, which was frustrating given that I had already spent over 30 minutes waiting for a simple beverage. At that point, I decided not to wait any longer. Unfortunately, the latte itself was disappointing. It was lukewarm, lacked flavor, and was not enjoyable to drink. I ultimately threw it away. In addition to the long wait times, the overall operation seemed disorganized. There were no napkins available, many drinks were being served with excess liquid on the cups, and the preparation area appeared messy. While I cannot speak to actual sanitation practices, the appearance of the workspace did not inspire confidence. I understand that busy periods can create delays, but this experience reflected poor communication, inefficient service, and a lack of attention to customer satisfaction. There is a TLCB coffee shop, on The Third Street promenade. in Santa Monica Ca. 92401 I used to go there a lot. But I switched to nearly located Starbucks . That particular TLCB coffee shop, doesn't have electrical outlets to charge phone and computer. I like to read, meet associates and work on my computer and phone, while in coffee shop, yet I can't change my devices at TLCB. So I switched to Starbucks on the same block. Starbucks has all I need. Aldough,TLCB has better comfort, than Starbucks, inside,an outside! If Tea leaf and coffee beans unblocks electrical outlets, at 3rd Street promenade location, I will come back as a costumer. Otherwise, they lost me. Moreover, Starbucks,refills coffee and teas free of charge. TLCB charges a $1 for refills. I spend money in Starbucks every day. I can spend it at TLCB. I got excited when I saw the cute purple building on the Santa Monica Pier. I was really disappointed to find out it's not a franchise so they do not accept the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf payment app. I wish they had a sign at the register stating this before I placed my order. I would have walked right out. The prices were about $1 more than in Oxnard and Ventura. I got a small Hibiscus Sunrise iced tea that was $6.99 and a bottle of water was $5. Typical coffee house. Nothing special except on the promenade. It was chilly day and thought I'd get something warm for my bones. Ordered a regular coffee and a blueberry muffin. The muffin was heated and the coffee was hot!! Perfect now the three star rating was for the "barista" who turned her back on me and went got someone else to wait on me... wow that was a bit off putting. Went here this afternoon and received the absolute worst customer service I've ever had. The barista, "Brettski" gave us attitude and literally stuck his tongue out at me when I asked about my order after noticing people who ordered after me had received their drinks. Considering the amount of tea I drink, you would think this would be my favorite shop, but it's not. The name is misleading. They have a very small selection of teas. And what they do have, they don't do very well. I ordered a chai latte, which should be a very simple request. It was okay. Not great. Not even all that flavorful, to tell the truth. The chai latte at Starbucks is much better. And Starbucks does not brag about its teas, only its coffees. This place put it in its name, but doesn't live up to it. Get a better selection of teas and learn how to brew it properly. Give your customers more than just the usual green tea and chai latte. Then you'll get more stars. read more

I usually stop by The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for a quick coffee break when I'm on the Third Street Promenade as it is conveniently located halfway the promenade. The service, however, is not as great as it's been in the past. The same goes for the cleanliness. I'm not sure if this is due to the stuff shortage or maybe a luck of management, but I really wish that the customer service improves as well as the place gets cleaned well. Was feeling thirsty after shopping at the Santa Monica Farmers Market and saw this location right next the street. I had never tried Coffee Bean but I love trying new coffee shops so thought I'd stop in. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and I'd have to rate it just an okay. The drink was okay but had soooo much ice in it and barely any coffee and a bit too much on the sweet side. This is a great Coffee Bean because the location is so lively. The flavor is so rich and real compared to Starbucks. I like to enjoy the SaMo sunsets on the patio, watching everyone enjoy themselves, and having a cake pop with my hibiscus berry sunrise (it's like a refresher.) On cloudy days I enjoy the wellness blend, which is like a medicine ball. The service is improving and the manager has some cool stuff going on, like an anime event and free hot chocolate for the recent Christmas parties on the Promenade. If you're visiting Southern California or have otherwise not tried the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, you should take time to try it because it is LA born and raised.
