Chinese @Hell's kitchen, NYC, We walked down the 9th Avenue after the show @ Lincoln Center to the restaurant. The restaurant was modern and mid sized. The menu was very reasonably priced and delicious. We requested our food to be less salty and without msg. The chicken lettuce wrap appetizer was well executed with crunchy waterchestnut and refreshing lettuce. The lobster sauce was very tasty with jumbo shrimps and black peppered filet mignon had a little kick which paired with the shrimp dish. The meal was delicious with corona beer. Unfortunately, where we were seated, the front door was opened and the air conditioning wasn't working properly. It appears that the restaurant is opened about 1.5 years ago. As Chinese food goes, this restaurant is top notch. I tend to stick to my staples (hot and sour soup, shrimp lo mein, schezuan green beans, and spring rolls) and this restaurant does not disappoint, neither in taste nor portions. The lo mein portion (beef) was big and wasn't too salty (personally), the pieces of beef and veggies were enjoyable. It was a bit oily, but, that was expected. The crispy sweet and sour pork was enjoyable, even taking into consideration that I got this delivered. There was still a nice bite to it, it did not get too soggy. The sauce was sweet, sour, and tart - good balance and exactly what you want from this dish. The cilantro was a nice touch (personally). Only issue I had was that there were not many pieces/small portion. However, a couple pieces were sizeable and a couple bitefuls. This is a decent Americanized Chinese food restaurant - the portions were generous but it definitely wasn't authentic. If you are looking for something authentic, just stop by Di Di Dumpling next door. The server that helped us was friendly and recommended good dishes. We had the hot and sour soup (was the most authentic fish), beef in egg rolls (was okay), and the sizzling plate with beef, chicken, and shrimp. This was more than enough food for the two of us. Had a lovely wine dinner on the Thursday night, and I love the spicy authentic Chinese dishes and the relaxing atmosphere of this restaurant. The boiled fish was delicious but a bit too spicy for me. Good thing is I ordered several different wines for the food pairing. The wine definitely helps to balance the spicy level. The byob policy is a plus for wine lovers ( they don't have big wine list here), and the corkage fee is only $15! Used to be a favorite of mine, but had a terrible experience. The new menu is boring and lacks some of the amazing dishes that they used to have. The drinks were terrible and unevenly poured. The service was fantastic, it's possible that these were the most polite servers/hosts I have ever had in a dining experience. I have always been an honest and transparent yelper so brace yourself for a review that contains the good, bad, and the ugly. Let's start with the service, 5 stars. Welcoming host, informative waiter, and a big shout to the latino fellow wearing a cap for being attentive and providing us with extra napkins. The food was prepared promptly and was set on our table hot. This was great. The decor is very nice, spacious, and clean. The restaurant has a nice vibe to it-the colors all come together and the utensils and facilities were spotless-5 stars. The availability and ease of use of a Groupon was a great marketing strategy because it welcomes new patrons looking for asian cusine in Hells Kitchen so kudos to whoever put that in place-it helped put this restaurant on the map. 5 stars. The food-5 stars. The veggie dumplings were pan seared and filled with flavorful veggies-nicely seasoned. The rock shrimp was nice and crispy and not too spicy. The veggie lo-main was delicious and had a variety of vegetables. The kung pao chicken was not too spicy and the chicken was nice and juicy not overcooked. The sweet and sour pineapple chicken was delicious and the pineapple was fresh and beautifully displayed. The white sticky rice was perfectly cooked. The tangerine steak was good but honestly it was our least favorite dish-perhaps the sauce was a bit too sweet for the steak? Overall, the food was bussin'-the portions were big and they really didn't skimp on any veggies or meat. Here's where it get's a bit crazy (and remember this is NY so we see alot of things but this was a bit over the top) The dining area is somewhat divided between tables/chairs and the other side has tables/booth seating. But, nonetheless both sides are visible to each other. Explain to me why, the employees thought that it would be acceptable to SLEEP on the booth seats at 4pm on a SATURDAY during BUSINESS HOURS. And not like sleeping on the chair with head back, NO fully laying down on their backs.Who thought this would be acceptable??? Who approved this?? Mind you, not 1 but rather 2 employees-one towards the back of the restaurant, and one in the front of the restaurant. It gets better because we hadn't notice until 2 older women walked in and ask for the back booth table, the waiter proceeds to take them to a middle booth until they spot the sleeping employee and ask " is someone sleeping there?" to which he replies " yes, well this section is closed but since you asked for booth seating... or perhaps you would rather sit on this side" and he points to the table/chair seating. I can't make this stuff up folks. Here is a message to the manager-please refer to article 81 of the NYC health code-§81.17 General requirements: design, construction, materials and maintenance-"and no part of any food service establishment shall be located in any rooms used for dwelling or sleeping purposes". Please DO NOT ALLOW THIS EVER-above all else, this was unprofessional and inappropriate. Having said all that, will that stop me from coming back? After walking by this place numerous times and wondering what it was all about, the beau suggested that we go and see for ourselves. I think he knew something I didn't because we had a really good meal! The restaurant has a very cute bar and is decorated nicely in red and white with eye catching murals. The service is very attentive, in fact it was too much so with multiple servers coming by to ask if we were ready to order yet. The beau and I don't roll that way. We like to enjoy our cocktails before we even open a menu. We did just that. The drinks we ordered were delicious and we decided to order the veggie spring rolls, fried pork dumplings, shrimp lo mein and sesame chicken. The food does come out fast here and it is piping hot so you know it's fresh. The portions are very generous so we had plenty to take home. The food was very good in house, reminding us how much take out can suffer in route. The chicken was crispy and the sauce was sweet and tangy as they promised. The lol mein noodles were cooked nicely and the shrimp deveined which is a huge plus for me. Overall a very nice experience. Overall we found this place pretty disappointing, but it's not clear whether we just ordered the wrong things (which is why it's getting three stars and not two). The ambiance was nice, the seats were pretty well-spaced, the service was good. But the food was really disappointing. Chengdu Roasted Duck in Chili Oil - this dish lacked flavor, and lacked duck meat (it was mostly bone); given that, most of the protein in the dish was spam Tangy Tangerine Peel Steak - this dish is large chunks of deep fried steak (wasn't mentioned that it was deep fried on the menu), and very sweet. I thought I was getting a spicy stir-fried dish based on the menu description, and definitely would have ordered differently if I knew what I was getting. I think I overall agree with another reviewer that said that this place is probably Chinese food targeted at people who are used to Chinese American food. If you're looking for authentic Chinese this is not your place. read more

When I tried to order food from them, it automatically went to pick up not delivery however I added a five dollar delivery tip so why was there a five dollar delivery tip for a pick up. When I called them about it, they said that I had to call the delivery service that they didn't have my information. When I called the delivery service, they said I had to call the restaurant so when I spoke to the restaurant, I said look it's just getting cold there and I'm paying for it and they're like yes it is you're getting cold and you did pay for it. So I got a little angry and I said all right. I'm coming over and I took a cab there which is almost $20 and they were having a huge event. There is a table with a woman guest list and lots of very happy people, but that's because they had an event. They didn't care about their actual customers. I went to get my food and I just said sorry about the misunderstanding because I wasn't gonna be uncivil. They were shady no apology no effort to fix it. Then I took ianother cab home which is about 15 bucks so I could've just ordered some other food and not spent probably the bill was 38 with them and that's 15 and 20 so that's about 70 bucks . When I got home, the Kung pao chicken had hardly any chicken and tons of peppers almost no peanuts and it had zero flavor. It was dry and gross. I think they're really a terrible business and I tend to write a few of these reviews because what records do I have they didn't give me any apology or anything. Passing by the The Corner Chinese you can't help to notice the nice decor inside. For the table we ordered the soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, Dan Dan noddles, pork belly in garlic sauce and the pineapple chicken. Out of all the plates we ordered the soup dumplings were good, everything else lacked in flavor. Dan Dan noddles were dry, pineapple chicken sauce was a bit too sweet, and the pork belly in garlic sauce was just okay. The service was very good and the staff were very attentive. Cocktails go for $17 but not worth it in my opinion. Heavy on the juice and not enough alcohol for the price. I don't think I will return back to The Corner Chinese. read more

I've come by here a couple of times for pre-theater meals in the past few months' time. The restaurant looks pretty nice inside, with trendy modern decor, and the food prices are fairly reasonable as well. I've tried their mapo tofu, veggie dumplings, and their cold sesame noodles so far, and I've liked them all so far, particularly their mapo tofu, which had great flavoring. They have a happy hour special on weeknights, with select bites being offered at discounted rates also. All in all, a pretty good Chinese restaurant located in the theater district, and not a bad place to grab a bite to eat, pre-show or not. read more

This is my second time trying the food here ordering from Uber eats. Place looks clean, but the food does not have good flavor. It barely has any flavor. The fried rice does taste a little weird and I also had chicken and broccoli which was very bland. a bit disappointing because I am trying to find a Chinese restaurant around here and I still cannot find any good ones unlike the one in Long Island that I love.
