We did not have a reservation and my partner decided to roll the dice and hoping to try for walk in availability. She lined up around 2:30-2:45 and was the first in line. When the restaurant opened at 5 we were able to be seated at the bar. Decor is classy with a beautiful classic looking well lit backbar. The bartenders were great and quite helpful navigating the menu with great recommendations. We started with the Caesar salad the lightly fried cream cheese and crispy chewy bagel croutons were pleasant update to a classic salad. Pizza rolls came out next accompanied with house ranch and honey, they were so delicious I wish I could have taken an order home. For entrees we ordered the Wagyu French dip sandwich which came on a toasty buttered roll, tender thinly shaved beef, with a hearty flavorful au jus. Each bite was fantastically rich and juicy and went well with the crispy hand cut fries. The chicken parmesan was unexpectedly fantastic. Great cheese pull with every bite and the vegetarian cutlet had a different but familiar texture to a typical thinly pounded chicken cutlet and just as delicious. I am not a fan when vegetarian dishes try to mimic meat but this was extraordinary. By the time dessert was offered we were stuffed, we really wanted to try to Samoa sundae, but could not even. I was so excited to try this restaurant and see what's all the hype about. The vibe is old school New York charm similar to The Polo Bar with modern menu items. It also has an air of exclusivity. Our sever was amazing, sharp. The only thing was that we ordered several dishes to start and I felt all arrived at the same time, too fast. Felt hurried, didn't like that. Even more so when the atmosphere of the place delivers a chill layback feeling. Also, it was a Sunday night. The food was good. The popular items on the menu like the famous pizza rolls ($18.50) and the lobster rolls with caviar ($19) were not impressive. They weren't bad but not WOW either, just good. Also the Caesar salad ($23) I had mix feelings with, loved the everything bagel croutons but in my opinion the fried cream cheese balls was too much with all the Parmesan cheese that was already pour on top of it, and don't get me wrong, I love cheese. If you think you need to come at a certain time to get a seat, COME EARLIER. My friend spoke to the hostess who mentioned that all tables/bar seating is booked out, but bar seating for walk-in availability is dependent on that day. So no, you can't be guaranteed a bar seating even if you come early. The restaurant opens at 5, my friend arrived at 2:40 PM to be SECOND on line. Wild. The line grew as time went on. When we finally walked in, they only had 4 bar seats available and my friend and I took the last 2 bar seats. The couple behind us who also got there at 3 PM were not able to get a first seating, so this place is based on luck and you getting there super early. Yea, getting a seat is tough and on paper, the place seems overrated but lives up to the hype and is an amazing upscale take on American food. The menu seems super basic, but they nail all the basics down. We got the 1. pizza rolls - this was heavenly and tasted like a well made pepperoni pizza with added honey 2. lobster and caviar roll - pricey at $19 a piece but it was buttery and fresh lobster. Would I get again? No 3. Wagyu french dip - the Au jus was amazing and the beef was tender and perfectly smoked 4. steak frites - steak was cooked to medium rare, albeit the sauce was a bit salty 5. vegetarian chicken parm - I was surprised on how good this tasted! If it did not say vegetarian, I would have assumed I was eating chicken 6. Samoa sundae - tastes exactly like the Samoa girl scouts cookie and had hints of coconut on top of vanilla ice cream 7. The food is what happens when you convince yourself that paying more means it tastes better. The burger costs $32 but delivers $14 worth of satisfaction, the fries arrived with the confidence of someone who doesn't know they're mediocre, and the margarita was so focused on being "elevated" it forgot about being drinkable. I've had more memorable meals at places with laminated menus and better lighting instincts. At least those establishments have the honesty to not charge you for their identity crisis. The room hums with men negotiating their relationships with Patagonia vests like it's a prenup, women whose hairlines require wealth management, and a collective energy of curated equilibrium. Everyone looks like they're one adaptogens smoothie away from a reckoning, but make it backlit. In summary, it's aspirational Chili's for people whose therapists have waitlists, but at least Chili's knows what it is and delivers accordingly. I might return, but only if I need to punish myself in an aesthetically pleasing way. You can't go wrong with any of the options but particularly enjoyed the Pizza Rolls, Caesar Salad, French Dip, Samoa Sundae and Apple Hand Pies (don't sleep on these). Seriously everything we ordered was A+! Great menu for sharing, so go with a group. To top it off, the Sour Cream and Onion martini is one of the best drinks I've had in a very long time. Had a great time! We started with pizza rolls and lobster roll to start, then had the branzino, French dip and fries for entree, and the scout cookies sundae for dessert. At the beginning, we had the coconut nigroni and the tuxedo martini - they were both delicious but I think the martini was slightly better. Service was quick and very attentive. The Corner Store is definitely worth the hype, another NYC hotspot that you have to try at least once. I did a walk-in Saturday evening and was seated immediately after waiting outside in the cold for over an hour. So happy I was able to get a seat at the bar. Just note that bar seatings are also booked for reservations, luckily there was still room for walk-ins. The hostess was nice, Sean and Jimmy were amazing, very friendly and welcoming. Everything was absolutely delicious, service was top notch, and the ambiance was dimly lit and cozy. My personal favorites were the lobster & caviar roll, Caesar salad with its tasty crispy cream cheese and everything bagel croutons, Wagyu French dip melted in my mouth, and the Samoa sundae cannot be skipped and is a must have. Not sure I will ever fully understand the reservation chaos that is this city but a friend of mine was able to get us a reservation through the restaurant texting her day of from the Resy Ntoify list. Took the last walk in spot on a Monday as soon as they opened. The ambiance inside is perfect for grabbing a a nice drink or bites with friends. We started with the pornstar royale and the sour cream and onion martini. The martini tasted just like a sour cream and onion chip and came with chips on the side. After that, I got a pecan manhattan, which came with pecans that were candied in house. Delicious! For appetizers we got the lobster caviar roll and the 5 cheese pizza rolls. The lobster roll was so fresh with a toasted bun and the pizza rolls were a great appetizer with a honey drizzle and ranch on the side. We also got the caesar salad and wagyu french dip. The salad might have been the best Ive had. It came with everything bagel croutons as well as crispy cream cheese, and when you bit it open had melted cream cheese inside. I'm not a huge fan of martinis i think they're usually too strong but the sour cream and onion martini was DELICIOUS. If you WANT to be a martini person but can't do strong ones get this guy. I wasn't sure what to expect coming to The Corner Store. I've heard it talked about a lot on social media. My friend has connections with the staff, so she was able to get us a reservation with no issue. I can see on Resy that reservations are hard to come by otherwise. The restaurant is impeccably decorated and the "vibe" is cool and a little nostalgic. There is certainly an air of pretentiousness when you step in, from the hosts to the other guests milling about. I wish I had a dollar for every ounce of lip filler I saw here. There's a few bar seats (but I assume you can't just "pop" in here, ever) and a large dining room in the back. We were sitting in a corner booth which was cozy. For a restaurant of this reputation and caliber, I expected much much more service wise. No one came to our table for at least 20 minutes. Not even to pour water. We had to flag a passing server to get noticed. I expect this kind of behavior at an Applebees, but not here. So immediately, I had a sour taste in my mouth about this place. The person we flagged down had such an arrogance about them that we felt like we were bothering them to, you know, spend our money here. Her 1990s era brown lipstick also added to her arrogant demeanor. She begrudgingly took our water preference and drink orders and then vanished. Another server popped over a few minutes later. This one was actually very nice and pleasant, I just wish she had shown up 20 minutes earlier. She took our food orders. Our drinks arrived via the arrogant server. I had the infamous sour cream and onion martini and my friend *thought* she had the matzoh ball soup martini. However, 10 minutes later, brown lipstick server comes over and says that my friends drink is actually the wrong one. And comes back with the correct matzoh ball soup martini. The sour cream and onion martini was surprisingly not gross. It really tasted like those potato chips but not in a nasty way. It is very rich and I think once you've had one, you don't need another. My friend's matzoh ball soup martini also tasted just like the soup. We ordered fries with all 3 of their sauces, ravioli, heirloom carrots and the lobster caviar roll. The fry sauces were very good, especially the horseradish one. Heirloom carrots and ravioli were good but nothing outstanding. My friend enjoyed the lobster caviar roll. As I am a vegetarian, I did not partake in that. The vegetarian selections here are not too robust. For dessert, we opted for the apple hand pies with ice cream. Truly a highlight of the night. The pies were fresh and warm. Our bill came to $200 before tip, so expect to spend at minimum $100 per person here. What amused me the most was the bathroom situation. In this fancy, pretentious restaurant, you have to descend a narrow flight of stairs and walk past the open kitchen doors to find the bathrooms. I cannot picture regular customer Taylor Swift doing this hike to the bathroom (do her bodyguards come downstairs and stand outside the door?) There are two individual bathrooms. As expected, the decor in there is also impeccable. The emerald green tiles - I die! Overall, I am glad we got to experience The Corner Store. It is certainly a scene. Is the food worth it? I don't know. Are the drinks worth it? Maybe. I'd come back if given the chance, but wouldn't go out of my way to try to get a reservation on Resy notify. It's all about the food!!! I wasn't expecting good food bc I saw a blogger talk about how horrible the food was and the wait to be able to eat here was not worth it bc the food tastes so bad. That couldn't be further from the truth. The attention to detail when it came to the flavor of everything we ordered was a ten out of ten. The hype is real, darlings. I "walked in" on a Sunday and was seated at the bar. (We won't talk about how long we waited in line but I made some great new friends.) There I met one of the most professional and adept bartenders I've ever had, he took our group's various allergies seriously and in stride and made great recommendations with impeccable service. And the drinks he made! First I have to say that the sour cream and onion martini exceeded the hype. The flavors were more subtle and culinary than you'd expect from the name and the viral potato chip photos. I wanted to have three more, except of course there were others to try. So I tried the tomato martini (also primo) and a garlic concoction that was new to the menu. I am a martini snob and all three of these exceeded my expectations (and came with chilled sidecar). The food was also fantastic. I had the spinach dip, the French dip sandwich and tried the pizza roll. All great. A few haters around town seem to be saying this place is not worth the wait, but they're very wrong. I'd go back tonight if I could. My NYC native roommate agreed. I literally flew in and needed to grab dinner. I saw this really cool, chic looking spot called The Corner Store. It must have been my lucky night because I was able to snag a spot for dinner and let me tell you guys this spot is a must try. The ambiance is so cute with a hint of seductiveness. Really love the dimly lit lighting. The music was so fun to jam along to while enjoying the best meal I've had. What really made it the best was the amazing friendly staff. I'd love to give a huge shoutout to Francisco, Jerry and Jermaine. If it was not for these two wonderful men I am sure it would just be another restaurant with nice food. I normally never write reviews. i am not that kind of person. But what happened to us last night? I cannot stay silent. I understand waitlists aren't guaranteed. i genuinely do. But what happened to us on yesterday had nothing to do with a full house, it had everything to do with a staff that looked us in the eyes, made us a promises and then tossed us aside without a single word of apology. We arrived at 3:30, grabbedd number 4 on the waitlist, and were personally told by the host that we would get in for the 6-7 slot. We waited. We planned our evening around that. We trusted them. Then 7 o'clock came. Then 7:30. Then we were told (not asked, not apologized to that two VIP customers had taken our spot. Just like that. No "I'm sorry." No acknowledgment of what they'd told us hours earlier. Nothing. We had to check in, we never got any text, if we never checked in we would have continued waiting. And then?? Instead of showing an ounce of accountability, the bouncer had the audacity to tell us we "should've come earlier" and that we "shouldn't have come in a group of 3." Then he dismissed us -- rudely, coldly, as if our time meant absolutely nothing. Then he rudely kicked us out saying we don't like people standing outside. A waitlist being full? Completely understandable. VIP priority? Fine, that's your policy. But lying to your guests, stripping them of their spot without notice, and then scolding them for your mistake? That's not a policy issue. That's a character issue. And I'll be sure everyone i know hears exactly how this place treats the people who show up hoping for a good time. read more

All hype, no substance. More of an Instagram marketing play than a genuinely good spot. Small, nothing special, with disorganized service. Energy was flat, and the crowd was underwhelming. Not worth the buzz, would not go back or recommend. Some places shine for a hot minute, then lose their edge. NYC requires more grit than this to survive. read more

I was able to get a reservation at The Corner Store, and I had a wonderful dinner. As a solo guest I was thrilled to be seated at lovely table. Service and hospitality were excellent--friendly and attentive. I began dinner (and ended dinner) with the yummy non-alcoholic Espresso Martini. The food was delicious! I loved the Caesar Salad that was HUGE, and I took home half. The Wagyu French Dip was everything a French Dip should be--meat was soft and flavorful. The broth was delicious and plentiful. I ended dinner with the outstanding Samoa Sundae--a must order! I would love to enjoy another dinner at The Corner Store if I can get another reservation. read more

Today I went to "The Corner Store" . Walked in with no res and got a seat within minutes. Incredibly friendly staff, great drinks, great food...100% worth the hype. Must get are the is the bluefin tuna tartare. It was the best tuna I ever had and Samoa Sundae which are basically a rich Samoa cookie with ice cream. ( Definitely one of the best desserts I ever had in my life.) Overall one of the best restaurants in nyc. Always the best experience and outstanding food! Cant wait to go back again. The Cesar salad is my favorite!

The Corner Store knows it's good, and they know you want to be there, and they're right and totally not obnoxious about it (even when they totally could be and everyone would come anyway). The service is phenomenal, with helpful waiters appearing at just the right time to fill your drink but never rushing you and managers checking in making you feel like a special guest (but you're definitely not bc Taylor Swift is probably also there). The waiters also seemed to be just as excited about each dish as the guests, giving the same wide-eyed looks at each dish as they passed by. While I would love to come back to the Corner Store and relive all of this, I wouldn't fight for a reservation or wait in line for hours. The food was delicious, but I can't seem to point to a standout dish. It was just overall a really fun experience with good food. I started with the sour cream and onion martini. Honestly, it wasn't that different from a typical dirty martini except it had notes of dill (not sour cream or onion). I also tried the tomato martini which was a bit too acidic for my taste. The first bite I had was the Lobster and Caviar Roll. Expensive, but a good portion size, and one of my favorite bites of the night. I would honestly get more of these instead of a main next time. We also started with the Spinach and Artichoke dip, which I dug right into and couldn't stop eating. I didn't want to fill up early in the meal, but this dip made it a challenge. I don't usually love a creamy dip but this one was made with high quality cheese that made it more stringy than gooey. Lastly, we had the Pizza Rolls, which I found kind of boring and overrated honestly (not bad just doughy). With our main course, we had the Caesar Salad, the French Fries, and Mashed Potatoes. The Caesar was a great Caesar! I found the fried cream cheese bites to be a bit rich and out of place in the salad, although the everything bagel croutons hit the spot. I'm not sure I can enjoy another Caesar without them. The fries were delicious, and while the sauces were fun to try, they aren't essential. If you're going to pick, the McAioli was my favorite, followed by the Horseradish Aioli, which also comes with the French Dip (and while I really liked it, I really wanted some more horseradish spiciness in it). The mashed potatoes are buttery and smooth and very rich, so while they're great, I really only had a bite and probably would skip next time. For our main course, we got the French Dip. I don't really like French Dips, but this one was moist and flavorful without being too meaty. It was also very buttery and rich, so again, I didn't eat much, but I really enjoyed what I had. The French Dip and all the sides we tried were also very salty. This is probably expected of potato dishes and a French dip sandwich, but I felt like these were especially salty. Somehow, we still had some room for dessert and tried the Samoa Sundae and the Apple Pies. As someone who doesn't like coconut (a theme of this meal is that I happened to like a lot of dishes despite them being foods I really don't like), the ice cream was custardy and rich and addicting. The Apple Pie was also good. It was warm without being mushy and clearly was freshly made. It also came with a cup of vanilla ice cream with cinnamon and caramel that was incredible. So while I can't pick a favorite dish, I thought each item I had was a better made version of what it usually is. And even with some critiques, I left absolutely stuffed. The gorgeous decor, attention to detail (everything is monogrammed/customized down to the toothpicks and bathroom soap dispensers), and great service make The Corner Store what it is. It doesn't need to be your top priority, but having been, I would say it's worth a little inconvenience to try and get in. And don't forget to ask for a matchbox when you walk out :) read more

Was so good like a higher-end Hillstone restaurant. We had the Caesar salad with everything bagel croutons yum! The pizza hot pockets, delicious and the chicken & French dip.
