Came here since I was in the PV area with a buddy and just craving a good cup of coffee. We were debating on just being average and going to Starbucks but once we saw the reviews and pics from this place we knew we had to stop by and see what everyone was raving about. So we both end up of ordering the authentic espresso ice coffee ( the lady said this was their best seller ) I wasn't sure what to expect but i trusted the front counter lady. After the first sip I knew this would become my new favorite ice coffee! I was wondering why it tasted so much better than the other ice coffees I had at other locations and once I downed the whole drink I noticed the ice cubes were not regular ice cubes! They were coffee ice cubes! What a very unique way to avoid drowning the coffee with ice water! Its a genius idea haha. The coffee was delish. from the first sip to the last ! So its pretty obvious that if I'm in the area again there is no way ill be thinking about going to a starbucks haha. Cant wait to try out their other cool drinks :) read more

Hidden away in a residential area, just a few blocks up from the ocean, I finally found this secret hide-away. Front part of the store is a seating area with a couch and a couple of tables; More seating outside. It offers a strange assortment of merchandise. You can buy soda and wine as well as greeting cards, art supplies and jewelry. Wish they'd clear out some of these selves and make more room for customers although not sure the girls behind the counter could handle the pressure. Everything comes very slow, so just chill. Coffee is excellent and for this first time I tried the Rueben - good toasted rye bread & cole slaw but skimpy with the pastrami. The pastries were dry - about 2 days old. Still, it's such a nice, laid back atmosphere, I'll definitely be back. read more

Been Here twice and everything is delicious! feel like I'm going back in time when I walk in this place. The prices are right and the portions large. Tried the Frisco burger on a ciabatta bun that was as good as any burger I've had in a while. Had a lemon cake that was tasty. Next time I had a swabby melt on rye , I can't believe how fast I ate it. Also had a mango and a raspberry almond dessert that were good. Hidden local spot you have to be looking for cuz you might miss it or keep driving because of how it looks from the outside. I guess that's alright by the locals. read more

Great variety and all well done! I came here with my family while visiting for the holidays and I was so impressed. The drink selection alone is worth the trip but the food is excellent and well though out. We each ordered something different and it was all so delicious. Recently I was pet sitting for some clients right down the street from this cute little corner store. I decided to walk over here for some lunch and snacks. The store had a full deli with lots of delicious items, many snacks, and even cute little knick knacks. The price was decent, not cheap, not expensive. The service was pretty fast even though they were a little busy. I would definitely recommend this joint to anyone who is looking for breakfast, lunch, or just to get your average snacks from the store. The only downfall for me was that if you pay with a card you need cash for the tip, they don't let you tip on card :( and also for anyone wondering, the card minimum is $10 but they do have an ATM machine inside as well. read more

The Corner Store is one of those neighborhood gems that is lost in time but in the best of ways. It is a throwback to the 1940s with it's open beam ceilings, massive soda selection which kids love, tasty pastries (especially early in the AM)--the dough is said to come from a local French bakery. A great cozy nook for a quick cup of coffee or a place to relax and enjoy a sandwich. If one prefers to be on the healthier side for breakfast, the steel-cut oatmeal is a fine choice and is typically adorned with raisons or apple by request. Peggy & Bruce, the proprietors place a significant emphasis on family and community. We appreciate them greatly! They support local artists and rotate several artists work on a monthly basis, provide space for a children writing class, hold wine tastings, and provide the venue for local musicians to perform on an occasional weekend. This place has great character. If you like soda they have almost every drink you can imagine. Whenever I come here I get the root beer float. You get to pick out your own root beer from the large selection they have. I recommend their shakes as well, by far the best shake I've ever had. read more

We are visiting from Arizona. Great, local find. Do Not be fooled by the outside. The Frisco Burger was perfect. One of the best I've had anywhere. I added avocado-it was the right call. The chicken, wrapped in prosciutto was a huge hit with the group and the kids devoured the meatball subs. Would go back again and again. Simple, good, well-made food with great service. We picked up some root beers here the other day after a random stop in. Very fun energy. This shop kind of takes you back in time, and it doesn't really feel like it's by design. It's a simple shop with good people, good food/menu, and fun sodas and trinkets to browse through. The had some live music going that sounded great yet unobtrusive. Wow I can't believe I never wandered in here before. Lived here for many years and over the weekend rolled up on this place to sign up for the wine tasting benifit for the marine mammal center. This is a great place to meet your neighbors and new people! The owners Peggy and her husband are a very generous couple. They donate their store for community events, host Christmas parties for the community with Santa Claus, and volunteer with organizations like,Clean San Pedro, Cabrillo Beach Booster and so much more! The food, coffee, pastries and company are great! They offer so much more...it's like going to an old neighborhood grocery store and picking up something you forgot or need! you can send you child in to get a sandwich...a hot chocolate...or a great root bear float! I usually just come in for an iced mocha which is always good and my son gets his cookie shake which is also good. But today we decided to try more and stay for lunch, so I asked the young lady which hot dog she recommended and she said the Chicago dog and I trusted what she recommended and my son got the mac and cheese and I also got an Italian soda (watermelon flavor) and my son stuck to his regular cookie shake. First of all let me start by saying the young lady was very polite but after I had the Chicago dog which was nothing special, I couldn't even finish it, it was cold and the the hot dog didn't even have flavor I could have easily made something better at home. Total was 16$ and change but that's almost 20$ for a little mac and cheese, which my son enjoyed and his shake but the Chicago dog really just what a disappointment and I let her know and all she said that she would let them know so it doesn't happen again?! Ok so you would think at least refund the hot dog or offer me something else cause I even showed her I didn't finish it, I literally just took a bite. What makes you think I would come back, when you didn't get it right the first time. But it's sad cause my family is well known at the corner store and the owner is very nice too and I really like it when I go with my son for an iced mocha and his shake but after today I don't know if I would come back I just felt like it was a waste of money and I'm leaving 3 stars cause of the shake and mac n cheese. read more

I love, love, love The Corner Store, especially Peggy and her staff!! It's the kind of local mom & pop place that I love to support. I've enjoyed many a cup of coffee, ice tea, sandwiches and veggie burgers there. There's something for everyone on the menu! My only warning for anyone that doesn't want to hear politics, especially extreme right-wing politics, I suggest you wait until after 9:00/9:30 a.m. when the old retired white privileged trump supporters are gone for the day. The Corner Store has gracefully changed hands from one lovely San Pedro resident to another. Running this place is a labor of love and loving this place is easy to do. The coffee and sodas are wonderful, the sandwiches and pastries yummy, there's milkshakes and sundaes, candy galore, and interesting wines and beers. If you need a gift, there's custom jewelry and one of a kind fifties aprons, fresh flowers, knicknacks and paddywacks and you can even get your dog a bone! Most of all, this precious little place is a welcoming beacon of light; a home away from home where regulars and newbies enjoy warm sweet buns, hot oatmeal with brown sugar & raisins and gourmet coffee or rare tea early in the morning, and then return throughout the day because it just feels so good to be here! I was introduced to the corner store by the local kundalini yoga instructor named Rosie ( she owns yoga bindu ) I had told her that I was new to San Pedro and having trouble adjusting to my new neighborhood. I had moved from Venice Beach. The corner store has made the transition allot easier. The coffee is very nice and strong! The people who frequent the corner store are extremely welcoming and friendly. I recently discovered the tuna fish salad with a pear and gorgonzola dressing ( to die ) the salad is made with the good albacore tuna, and it is adorned with just the right amount of purple onions and green lettuce and tomatoes ( simple but good ) really good. I also like there breakfast sammys and enjoy a cookie or two when I am not counting my points ( have to fit in those skinny jeans ) over all I would rate this place very very high. Also they are very doggie friendly and that helps allot when you have a four legged who goes almost everywhere with you. read more

The Corner Store gets 4 stars from me because I have been going to The Corner Store since I was a little girl. I have seen it as a Liquor Store, then a beautiful coffee shop owned by two amazing woman Susan and Marisa. And finally to the Corner Store it is today, owned by Peggy. HOWEVER, Peggy does not deserve one single star from me. I do not find her to be friendly at all. She is so incredibly bossy to her staff that its hard for me to sit and watch. I cringe when I'm being helped and she walks in to criticize her employees work. Every time I go to the Corner Store there is something new to the menu that she is charging for.....extra ice, decaf on request, soy....etc etc. I bought 2 coffee drinks, and 2 breakfast items. PAID and was quietly waiting as the one employee behind the counter cheerfully tried to handle all of her orders. Then as Peggy marches in I was charged .65 cents more for soy and the nice woman behind the counter was scolded. In closing HUGE BUMMER about Peggy!!!!! read more

More, there are Vegan and gluten-free options for those of us who shun meat and must have gluten-free meals! Peggy and Bruce are progressive and sensitive to their customers in ways others are not. And while the store and diner are brilliant, Peggy and Bruce have made the Corner Store a spot where art, music and the holidays meet year round. My husband and I have been coming to this little gem called the Corner Store for about 4 yrs now. Its convenient for us since its close to where we live. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and burgers. My husband has tried a number of items on the menu and has enjoyed everything he's ordered. He especially likes the breakfast burrito's. I usually order my 2 favorites, Italian Stallion (grilled chicken sandwich) and grilled chicken salad. The lettuce in the salad is always fresh and bountiful. You definitely walk away full. The dessert case carries a wide variety of baked goods and pastries. My favorite is the German Choc cake. They have numerous bottles of soda to choose from. I cant remember the last time I drank out of a soda bottle before I came to the store. The employees are friendly and make you feel at home. They always greet us by name when we come into the store since we're regulars. I like the various local artists displaying their crafts and also the section of unique toys that I've purchased in the past.. Since its a neighborhood store it has a "family" atmosphere. Its off the beaten path so it may be difficult to find at first. I came upon it one day when I was doing my daily walk along the ocean cliff. I give it 5 stars. read more
