The breakfast burrito was too salty and not tasty. And the restaurant was not very clean.

Garbage. See pictures. $14.18 for a barely cooked burger patty that tasted and was textured like a barely warm wet sponge. This burger was called "The Megladon"and new owners couldn't afford to use 1 whole slice of tomato. Instead they put 1/4 sliver of a slice of tomato. Fake cheese. Missing thousand dressing. Rotten lettuce( see picture) why raise the prices to serve slop? I was truly trying to spend my money here. I even ordered extra avocado and at$2.00 for extra avocado, they sliced one very small slice into 3 slivers. Not joking( see picture) I was talking to a friend, of the new owners, this past weekend and mentioned how I was making a point to be a daily patron to promote this local business. The food is okay but the service is terrible and the prices are gouged. They charged $4.50 for a small plain iced tea and then ask $1.50 plus tax for a partial refill. They charged $1.50 to add avocado to a BLT but then left it off. My kids asked if they could have water and the server said they ran out water but we could buy bottled water from their little store! To add insult to injury, the drinks in the refrigerator are room temp. So the quality and service are bad, but at least it's expensive. read more

This place is such a great neighborhood gem! I love how quaint and vintage the inside is, it's the perfect place to grab a coffee or quick lunch with a friend and catch up. Good food at reasonable prices, in a neighborhood friendly setting. If I lived close by, I would definitely come by often just to try the different types of sodas on hand. They do cater to the nostalgic, as they have sodas and candies not found in current convenience stores. Prices reflect that, but I'm sure they pay a premium to find these products. Anyway, my GF, mom and I were on our way to see Amaluna which is a temp Cirque du Soleil show in San Predators and running late, so we ditched out original plans for a sit down meal and searched Yelp for a quicker option. This was a bit out of our way, but seemed to fit the bill. Service was polite, but can tell she was a new employee and the owner/manager had to step in from her break to help out/correct some her. That aside, service was good enough and certainly polite. Food - we each selected the 1/2 sandwich soup or salad combo and coincidentally all went with tuna as our sandwich, but on different types of bread. Tuna was delish, but pretty basic. Just a touch of mayo. I really didn't taste anything else. Bread was soft and fresh. Not homemade, but fresher than the stuff I get at the market. Stand out for me was the soup. The days option was mushroom Brie bisque. I love cream of mushroom and this was an elevated version of that. Nice hints of cheese and the cognac or ingredient to make it a "bisque" was present and pleasant. My GF ordered the same, but she expected more cheese flavor than mushroom (she's not a fan of mushroom, so not sure why she ordered except for the promise of cheese :) and wasn't as delighted but ate it all just the same. Mom ordered the salad and it was pretty basic. All in all, it was a pleasant detour with a good meal so have to give it four stars. If they provide a few more options to liven up the sandwich or offer hot sauces to spice up the soup, I think I would give it another star but only one dish really stood out as one I couldn't or wouldn't make myself, which was the soup. Love supporting our local neighborhood businesses, especially the Mom and Pops. We are new to the neighborhood and have stopped in a few times. I'm not excited about it however. IMHO, they could benefit from a thoroughbred cleaning and end of shift cleanups. Every occasion (breakfast and lunch) the tables inside and out were not wiped down or floors swept. There are weeds growing in the cracks near the tables, the umbrellas don't open up for shade, and pet droppings in the patio area as well. I go to the corner store every time I hike at White point. They're able to make a nice vegan sandwich for me. And everyone else I've taken there has non-vegan food has liked the food. They can make nice coffee drinks as well. If you like soda in a bottle they'll have it. You have to be patient for your food sometimes. Highly suggest it. read more

Cute little store in a residential area. It was only a block up the street from our walk route and I was able to grab waters for me and my dog! Last weekend I came here with a couple friends after YEARS of not coming. I had almost forgotten that this little gem existed! We had a mixed experience. The specialty drinks (pumpkin spice) were pretty good and about the price you would expect to pay. The only thing I can say about the breakfast burritos is - DO BETTER! They were expensive and tasteless. There was barely any filling inside of them (waaaaaay to much folded tortilla) and it really didn't taste like much of anything. We had to drown them in salsa packets to have any flavor at all. We liked that there's inside and outside seating, but the couches are really uncomfortable, so sitting at the tables was really the only option. It was ok, but didn't make us want to stay and hang out. It has SO MUCH POTENTIAL to be the cutest place and the neighborhood treasure it used to be back in the day! They have some very cute areas that sell beautiful hand crafts and jams. I just wish that they put more effort into the food (breakfast at least) and having more comfortable areas to hang out in. I would consider going back for the small town experience, but would try something else on the menu (a sandwich maybe?!) and go when it was nicer to sit outside. Stopped by 2 days in a row. Forgot to get a picture the first day but I had the "breakfast sandwich" on an everything bagel. Food was delicious! The second time around, again left satisfied. Vegan & Gluten Free Options !! So great that they are offering them as so few places in San Pedro do. They have a variety of vegan sandwiches available, and GF bread is an option now as well. We love the local bread, chips & salsas sold there also. We often go for a walk with our pup and have a bite on a patio. I usually get the 'Slim Sailor' on GF bread (ask for no cheese!) Portions are not large, and priced fairly & accordingly. They tend to only have 1 or 2 people working, so a line can happen, and there is usually a bit of wait for the food. But they have a patio you can wait on, or some cozy seating inside. The only thing that I think could use some improvement is the outdoor patio furniture is quite dinky and could use an upgrade, especially since it's a great place to wait for your food! read more

The Corner Store is an amazing spot absolutely delicious food. My only regret is not trying a hamburger here sooner. I've also really enjoyed trying different specials lately. It's a real through corner market with delicious food you won't be disappointed. The character and charm make this spot even sweeter. This is a neighborhood hang out for some people. There are sofas and group seating and individual tables outside patio dining also dog friendly with water bowl :-) really good desserts beer and the best soda selection and San Pedro I'm just guessing but they have to have more than 100 sodas even maple bacon flavored soda :-) LOL yes I tried it it was better than expected. Today went to pick up a sandwich. Ordered tuna, they weren't busy at all. The usual crowd at lunch. My sandwich was nothing to rave about. Lacking Tuna, an oreo cookie has more filling than the tuna on my sandwich. I love this place, but today's experience makes me sad. I wont be coming back anytime soon. I am going to be very careful here. I'm grateful this gem of a business has been acquired and the new owners are trying to make it work. A business like this has very special requirements. Its small, old, spare, located in an out of the way spot on a side street. The neighborhood is nice, but not large or hugely affluent. What the place has (or had) was a lot of local history in the throw back decor, decent food at reasonable prices, a few novel merchandise collections, some local artist displays, a high school kid behind the counter and a quirky point of view. Those assets got us hooked so we'd go out of our way to come visit The Corner Store regularly. We'd bring friends from out of town (or even from other parts of Los Angeles) to share in the complete uniqueness of that place. I'm sad to say its not looking good now. The merchandise has been whittled down to corporate candy, junk food and bottled or canned drinks. There were a couple ceramic bird feeders but the artist displays were mostly empty. There is a lot of room to move around. The vast vintage soda collection is slipping away and looks abandoned, and the walls are now blank and white. But the worst thing that has happened is that the large odd ball 1940's era Popeye and Olive Oil cartoon style mural behind the counter is gone. Not destroyed but sold to a local antique shop presumably to find another home. On finding the mural missing, my wife cried for 20 minutes. I was in shock and wanted to leave. Instead we dried our tears and stiffened our upper lips. I bought coffee and a breakfast sandwich (my wife had to wait outside), supported our local businesses, and tried to forget the carnage. Maybe its a work in progress.. I'm hoping to read in Random Lengths about how the place has been cleverly updated but has successfully recaptured the funky charm of its prior condition. Today, Sunday afternoon, I stopped in to buy a t-shirt to benefit the 25th Street mural project. With tax it was like 27 bucks, and all the money goes to the project. Thanks, Corner Store! I gotta mention the selection of toys in this place. Stuffed animals, cool puzzles, wooden toys, musical books, & more....you could do all your holiday shopping for little kiddos right here. And there's original art for sale, too. And if you want old-school soda in glass bottles....well, there's a whole wall of it. Their sandwiches are great. Staff is friendly. Wanted a hot dog and saw The Corner Store listed on Yelp. Pulled up and parked right out front. Saw the chili dog and got real excited. I asked the young lady working the counter if there chili has beans and was disappointed to hear that it did. I LIKE MY CHILI BEANLESS! especially on hot dogs. But alas, So Cal is not Texas, chili without beans is hit or miss. I ordered the Chicago Dog and enjoyed it. The mustard was good and although I prefer Nathan's & Hebrew National to Vienna Beef, it was still a tasty treat. One of the charms of The Corner Store is that it has a massive selection of specialty sodas. Make sure you take advantage of the selection when ordering your meal. Just as selecting the right wine can make or break a meal, choosing the right soda flavor will enhance your Corner Store experience. Literally, this must be one of the coolest lil corner stores and it's just sitting in a residential neighborhood... Feels like walking through a portal into an episode of Leave it to Beaver hahaa We stopped in after a long day to grab some drinks before the drive back and was surprised to find that they had many more options than expected! We had to go but seems like it's a great place to kick back. The atmosphere is def more lazy summer afternoon than crowded coffee shop w ppl working everywhere.
