I loved this cute little restaurant, along the River with an airy outdoor patio. Service was fast and friendly. The menu has a good variety of options including several kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches. Food arrived quickly and was good. It was already pretty busy inside so we were surprised when our server was attentive and food came out relatively quickly. The perfect place to rest those sore muscles after hiking at Red Rocks. The Cow Eatery is located in Morrison, which is basically at the base of Red Rocks. Quant little town with several dining options. By the looks of it, many locals hang out here, as was the case when I visited. Service was super friendly, they have a nice selection of beers on tap and have a full bar. I had the green chile burrito with chicken, tender meat rolled up and smothered in green chile sauce. -Delish- My buddy had the cheese steak which he says was moist and delicious. They also have a large selection of ice cream desserts, i.e. hot fudge sundae, but I got the good ol' soft serve dipped in chocolate. The have two patio's, one facing the main drag through the town which is great for people watching. The other is on the back of the restaurant where you can hear the trickle of the river just feet away. I made a quick stop here with some friends on the way home from an adventure. When I walked in it was packed with people eating brunch and linner. It was right in the middle of the two and I decided in linner. Since it was so crowded we sat at the bar. The restaurant is very small so it was a little bit tight sitting there. I was getting knocked around a little bit, but it was fairly crowded so I was not surprised. I got the patty melt and I was not disappointed. The patty was cooked just how I asked and I really enjoyed the fries. The reason why I gave The Cow three stars is because of the wait staff, I was not impressed with how I was treated. What a fantastic find in the quaint town of Morrison, CO! We were looking for a place to eat lunch and noticed the parking lot full of cars and figured this must be THE place to eat. We popped in looking for a bite to eat around noon on a Sunday. There was a 15 minute wait time, the place was pretty crowded. We got a fun seat at the counter so we could see all the happenings. We are greeted right away with menus and drinks followed quickly. Then the quick things slowed way down. You can see on people faces when they have been waiting and waiting. Many ticket times I observed were 25-30 mins (I could clearly see the times on tickets from my chair) So definitely don't be in a hurry (and this is mention on the front of the menu - have patience) This wasn't the case for us, we had our food in less than 20 minutes. I had the appetizer Cow Wings with hot bbq. It was either bbq sauce with buffalo sauce or a unusual bbq sauce - wings were served VERY saucy. Not very hot/spicy. The wings were pretty good, crispy, ok sized, not over cooked. The celery was not fresh, and more had more brown spots than a cow. The Mac n Cheese grilled sandwich was good. Typical grilled cheese, but the Mac is what made the sandwich! Fries were good. There are issues with water pressure and bathrooms working correctly- So that is thing. I took my guy for breakfast on the 4th of July to The Cow. It was my 2nd breakfast there and still outstanding. It was a busy morning but we got to sit at the bar immediately and had a server right away. I got the biscuits and gravy and he got an enormous omelet. The gravy has a bit of heat and was really yummy, and my serving came with a choice of potatoes -either home fries or shredded. I got the shreds and he got the home fries, both superb! The breakfast menu had all of the things you will like and their Linner menu is similar :) The last time I visited, I got the cinnamon roll and it was enormous and decadent! We stopped at Blue Cow after finishing up an 8 mile hike down the road. The place was hopping! They have a cute patio with an icecream window which they were also serving beer/food to-go out of as well. The place is super dog friendly which was a bonus since we had our dog in tote. We arrived and had a choice between outside for a 20-30 min or inside for about a 10 min wait. So we took the inside wait, it wasn't too cold so I agreed to eat inside with my honey. I'm cold natured, so it wasn't too cold or too hot, even for my boyfriend, it was perfect temp. Being my first time here, I was torn between about 4 different dishes. So I told the waiter the 4 different dishes and told him to surprise me. Food came out, and I got the spaghetti and meatballs. I was happy! VERY flavorful, the meatballs were cooked to perfection. Not under or over cooked and were very good. The meat balls have some bite, a slight spiciness to them, BUT good!! I was having large pieces of the meatball with every bite of pasta, but ran out of pasta. So I had to order more pasta to go with the rest of my meatballs. They were TOTALLY fine by it. My boyfriend ordered the fish and chips. OMG YUM!!! The two pieces of fish were so good, fried perfectly. The French fries were also fried perfectly. So over cooked and too crispy, they were fat and soft on the inside. Yum!! My only complaint, is that I had to wait a while after I got to the point of needing more pasta, before anyone came over to check on us. Besides that, it was great!!! Will for sure be back! This is a cute spot on the main Morrison drag. I love it because it's one of the closest breakfast restaurants near my apartment and it's a great place to take people who don't have mountains where they're from. The drive to the place is almost magic. They do have a parking lot, but I've gone during the week at 9am and gotten the last spot, so be prepared to park on the street. They serve up all the classic breakfasts, including a delicious biscuit dish smothered in gravy. If you're visiting Morrison in the afternoon and want a sweet treat, you can walk up to their ice cream window. read more

First, the good: The breakfast was absolutely delicious. My party had an omelette and waffles and all came out flanked by fresh seasonal fruit - an unexpected and very welcome bonus. Prices were decent and definitely fitting for the quality. Second, the ugly: The service was horrible. We sat ourselves after standing like morons by the front door for about a minute, never receiving acknowledgement from the staff. After we sat, we waited another few minutes before we were given menus... Then another few minutes before drink orders were taken by a young guy who told us he wasn't our actual server, so he couldn't take our food order too (I did appreciate him bringing our drinks out quickly though...). Finally, our orders were taken and our yummy food came out about 15 min later and then we were never checked on again. I flagged down our waitress twice, once asking for napkins and the other time for a refill and I never saw either. And then after an eternity, someone else brought our check. The Cow An Eatery has plenty of great options and we were quite pleased with our meals. We ordered the cow green chili burrito, and cow famous fish and chips. Between the two, I personally liked the cow famous fish and chips better. The fish was very fresh and fried to perfection. The cole slow perfectly complimented the dish and the fries weren't overly oily. The green chili burrito was tasteful as well as pretty large.
