We waited very long for our main course and when it arrived, it was literally burned: my potatoes were black and basa fish was so dry from overcooking that it glued to the skillet. I'm not sure why they even brought it to us. Seems like they forgot it in the oven. I was too hungry to send it back because we waited at least 30 min for it. My mojito drink tasted like it was no alcohol in it at all. When I finally spoke to our waiter re: how burn the food was, he was nice enough to get us a free desert. However, they mixed up our orders again. On top of that, at least 2 of us got sick that night with nausea and stomach pain. Absolutely horrible experience. For the last few occasions, the food has been overly salty; yet we continued to return, thinking it was a fluke. I've been going to the dead fish since i was a kid with my family and it's always been great. Last Saturday me and my husband went for a date night. I made a reservation for 6:30 and we arrived early at 6pm and we were still seated right away. We always try to sit outside to catch the beautiful view. Me and my husband both got the sea bass. We are here right now enjoying the beautiful patio but had to stop and make a review immediately. Luckily our server was delightful and the food is always delicious but Holy Cow! The two ladies who greeted us at the front could not have been more unfriendly. We mentioned we were early for our reservation and it was our 40th anniversary. My in laws took me here for my bday and I had such an amazing time. From the service our reservations was right on the dot. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. It was great to see there was some regulars that knew the servers. It's great to know the vibes of the restaurant was very family oriented. From the bread to my ciopinno was A+ the bread was so soft and fresh. The cioppino was so tasty so fresh. It had clams, mussels, crab clusters it has the perfect amount of spice. I finally had the opportunity to visit The Dead Fish. My family and I had a lunch with a beautiful view day after Thanksgiving. The history behind this restaurant is cool and it's been around for a while so be sure to bookmark this one if you're looking for good seafood and prime rib. For my first visit, I opted to try the Cowboy Ribeye which was cooked to perfection in a tasty garlic butter sauce. This steak was paired with cream of spinach and a creamy mash. Had a beautiful weekend in the city. A favorite stop on the way back to Sac is the Dead Fish. The ratings should be much higher than are. The food, the service and the atmosphere is on point. Went to Dead Fish after a family and friends event. Its been awhile since weve been to Dead Fish and was actually able to make reservations 30 mins before arrival. Once we arrived we were welcomed by the host and waited briefly as our table was being prepared. We got to sit down and was greeted by our server and asked if we would like any drinks and any appetizers. I immediately ordered the large Sizzling Iron Skillet-Roast with shrimp it been our go to menu item everytime we had an opportunity to visit. We also ordered the Bruschetta and a few bowls of Clam Chowder. the food arrived and I my mouth was watering. we dug right in and the experience was amazing especially when you have the opportunity to share this experience with family and friends. After eating the soup, the shrimp and Bruschetta we were already getting full but I felt I need to order some dungeness crab so my brother and I each ordered a 1/2 order and we were pleased with the amount of serving. It's been the extended family tradition to visit The Dead Fish on Christmas day. I'm always thankful to the restaurant and the staff for working so hard to provide a space for families to get together when there are limited other options. I've always enjoyed their mussels and calamari as appetizers as well as the delicious Acme bread. The service was top-notch as usual. Food came out fairly quickly, considering that the restaurant was absolutely packed. There is some auctioning off of entrées when it comes out of the kitchen, which causes confusion sometimes when people have ordered the same main entrée, but with small substitutions (e.g. add crab, dressing on the side, etc). Everything was up to par in terms of the food with the exception of the Bronzino, which I am fairly certain was past its "best by" date. The Branzino I've had in the past has been light and flaky with a very mild, slightly sweet, delicate flavor. What I was served, had a somewhat pungent aroma to it and definitely fishy, and after taking a few bites, the fishy flavor was overpowering, and I simply could not eat it. I decided to eat the pearl couscous and the vegetables that were served on the sides of it, but I had to leave the fish alone. The sides were both very good. I also tried some of my wife's salmon which was cooked perfectly and delicious. I decided not to send the fish back because I saw how busy they were and I figured that any replacement entrée would not be ready in time before the rest of our large party packed up to go home. Every Christmas we tend to "over order" which meant there were plenty of mussels and appetizers still on the table for me to enjoy. This is the first time that I've had food from the dead fish that I felt was objectively bad. I definitely won't be ordering the Branzino or even the Sea Bass in the future in case there is something in the preparation of these fish that they do in the kitchen, which causes it to have a very strong fishy flavor. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love seafood, and I order it often. This particular plate was a swing in a mess though. Such great service came here few weeks ago for a date with my love. The food was excellent served fresh and hot. I ordered the salmon with roasted veggies and potatoes and a French 75. Everything was amazing. Neat and clean appearance inside and out. I came back today to grab some lunch to go. Both times the manager is Shazam I overheard his name he is fantastic. Dead Fish was busy as usual but we had a reservation thankfully. We were seated right away in a cozy booth. Our server was quick to take our order and she was very friendly. My only issue was that I asked about the beet salad as an entree and I should have been better informed what I was going to get. The salad was a pile of marinated beets with a slice of avocado and some marinated onions. It was not very good and would be better as a side salad. I wish I was advised to maybe get something else. Everyone else had great food. The other entrees were a burger which was huge and very well prepared. Sea bass with lemon caper sauce was another choice we made which was also very good. Second time here, and legit good seafood place. Most seating has at least some water view. This place is busy so be patient. First time we had a crab feast for 3, garlic noodles, and fish du jour. The vegetarian in our group was good with their pasta too. All good. Second time we went for brunch; no res but lucked out with timing (1-1:30) and got seated quickly. Had crab benedict & got the english muffin swapped out for their Acme bread (so good). Hollandaise is perfect, eggs well poached. My parents brought us here for my wife's birthday, and it was fantastic! The portions were great, the seafood tasted fresh and well seasoned. The service was fast, and food came out hot. There's a lot of shareable items, and you can mix and match the seafood. Prices are worth it! For starters we went with clam chowder, calamari, and the bread. First time we've been charged for bread, but I can't blame you cause it's made fresh in house and this economy sucks. Clam chowder was good, and dipping the bread in it was even better. The calamari came out fast and hot. Very fresh tasting and crispy! Next we got double shrimp and crab skillet combo. It comes out sizzling on a hot skillet like fajitas. It comes with their seasoned butter and regular butter for dipping. The shrimp were a little small but the Dungeness crab was a great size, and so fresh! The cioppino was probably the best I've ever had but also I've only tried it a handful of times at different restaurants. The prime rib was ok, nothing special. The mash potatoes are mashed with zucchini, which I wasn't a big fan of. My kid got the garlic noodles with Dungeness crab. I thought there would be more crab in it than what we paid for, and I think they missed on the garlic part of the noodles. It was still good though. We skipped out on desert, nothing seemed to catch our eyes. Overall, 4 stars, we will be back to catch the views when the sun is out. read more

Our server was great, she was easy to ask questions about her recommendations and she was honest when it was something she hadn't tried yet and I appreciated that. The food was very good! It was a bit breezy, but they had a cover in front to block the wind. The service was friendly and quick, but it seemed she was the only server for both inside and outside, so we had to wait a little while to request our check. The food came out really fast; maybe that's why it didn't sit well with my stomach. It arrived at the same time as the two tables next to us, which had been seated when we arrived. My partner ordered the spicy crab roll, or I guess sandwich, which was a mess. It was crab on hamburger buns with lettuce. The crab had no flavor. Definitely not like any crab roll I've had before. Still, I'd probably go back since there are a couple more menu items I'd like to try. And I did enjoy the garlic pasta. Everyone was super attentive and kind. I don't eat seafood, so I can't speak on that side of the menu, but my family loves this place and always looks forward to it. Heads up -- it's definitely on the pricier side. My husband ordered a steak, and it was $50 for just the steak, potatoes, and some spinach. We couldn't help but compare it to a Brazilian steakhouse where it's $80 for all-you-can-eat! Heard great things about this place. Decided on celebrating here for Grandmothers 95th Bday. Waiters:waitresses were very accommodating for our large 10-person party. Upon entering you'll notice suspended model-boats, cars, airplanes, a blimp, and other antique transportation miniature sculptures hanging from the scowling. Super cool atmosphere!
