I'm visiting this area and was informed this is "the only nice restaurant in Crocket." I didn't have any expectation. I was just happy we're having seafood! Our group sat at the backyard patio for the view since this is my first time at The Dead Fish. Our table was slanted and I had to make sure my plate and water are not sliding off the table. I'd love to sit inside the next time I visit. I saw other dining rooms with big couches and that's more of my vibe. Here's what I ordered for the table: Oysters, 6 Calamari, large Epi bread Steamed clams Fishwich Epi crab sandwich Crabwich with fries Sea bass Epi breads came with butter. I asked for olive oil and balsamic vinegar instead. Steamed clams came with more epi bread and I had to take that home. I enjoyed the flavor of steamed clams. I had left over soup and took that home also. Calamari was flakey and I'm glad I ordered the large portion for the table. I wasn't too hungry but next time I'd love to order skillet seafood options. Our appetizers came out quickly and we had to wait a while for our main courses to come out. Servers are friendly and helpful with all the requests we had. Heard great things about this place. Decided on celebrating here for Grandmothers 95th Bday. Waiters:waitresses were very accommodating for our large 10-person party. Upon entering you'll notice suspended model-boats, cars, airplanes, a blimp, and other antique transportation miniature sculptures hanging from the scowling. Super cool atmosphere! Sports-played on tvs inside the bar. We enjoyed the nice outdoor seating around 3pm. Perfect weather, boats passing by, beautiful colors in the sky and food was on-point! Celebrated yet another birthday last night at the Dead Fish and it could not have been better. The food is always delicious. What's not to love about the Killer Crab??? My Caesar salad was crisp and fresh. My husband enjoyed the clam chowder and spicy fettuccine, giving both dishes a 10/10. What was extra special about last night was our server, David. My dearest love and I ate at The dead fish on a Wednesday early evening. We order 6 oysters which were deliciously fresh, alotta crab which was one and a half dungeons crab boiled and fried in delicious herbs and slices. Bread and butter, the beet salad which we highly recommend, and Bolognese pasta. They set you up with all the necessities for eat crab with bibs, crackers, shell bowl and moist towel. We sat in the bar area by the window and the view of was spectacular. I door Christmas lights appear to be an all year round decor choice. Outside seating was also very beautiful. I have been looking forward to this experience for a very long time. So I was delighted to be going for Mother's Day! We made a reservation a month before so it'd be easy and a relaxing Mother Day. Driving up we did a "are you seeing what I'm seeing? moment as there were cars parked up and around the hill, across the street and all around the restaurant with people crossing the street then when we turned into the driveway, the line! The line was past the front door all the way up the parking lot at least 20 people. And that line was still that way when we left at 7. It did not matter if you had a reservation because all the people in line had a reservation. You just had to stand in that line to check in for your reservation. It was just awful as you did the line then when you were relieved to get to the reception desk, you weren't greeted. You waited as they did their organizing then they looked up to ask for your name. Once checked in they said it'd be another 30 min but maybe leas since we said first available. Insult to injury was getting your name called with a condition. Would we take a booth for the 3 of us with the possibility of sharing with 3 others. We gambled and said yes. At that booth, we didn't know what to say because 3 more people joining would have been tight especially if you don't know them. That was really tacky. We lucked out as no one joined us. But it's not like we had a nice view either. Kinda lost the excitement being there. I would say very wrong day to go. Do not go for a holiday. We had the bruschetta, garlic noodles and sea bass. The food given all the hype did not meet it. The bruschetta was bruschetta. Same with the garlic noodles. The sea bass was a nice portion but just tastes like it was cooked in butter; lacking the garlic and other flavors. Our server was great. Attentive and got it all dialed in for us. I'm really sad to have to do this but would love a response from Peter D. If I have to deal with Shazam's attitude or lack of professionalism again, I will be even more disappointed. We frequent this restaurant (along with the other related restaurants, i.e., The Stinking Rose, Crab House in Sausalito, etc.) often & spend a ton each time (which you can clearly see from my previous reviews) On Sunday, 10/5 we went for a special birthday dinner for my fiancé, as this is one of our favorite places. The service started off good and our waitress (Miriam) was attentive & even brought out the famous birthday candle and a dessert for my honey, even though we didn't mention the birthday at all. We were impressed because it showed that she had seen our reservation because that is the only place where I mentioned it. It was hilarious because he really thought I set him up but I know he doesn't like to be sung to at restaurants, but I never mentioned it. The tip with our bill probably would've been 50 or 60 bucks but we gave her 80 because of the experience and her attention to detail with the birthday thing. Our bill was $291.19 & we tipped her $80 cash (my fiancé is in the hotel industry so we're very adamant about tipping well). When I checked my bank statement the very next day as I do daily, the actual charge was $349 & some change! I called my bank immediately to make sure that the transaction was from this restaurant and they confirmed it was. So my next call was to the restaurant and I encountered the so-called manager, "Shaz" I gave him all of the information, he looked at their records and said that they are only showing the $291.19, so then why is the transaction showing $349 on my side? I didn't receive a call all week so I decided to call today to follow up and was told that he had been out for a few days and that supposedly he sent my information to the corporate office. I explained to him that I am concerned because it feels really shady that my card was charged for a different amount after the fact. And of COURSE my receipt only shows the original amount because we tipped CASH!!! But if something was added after the fact, that is NOT OK!! I'm super frustrated and would like a response from someone else as when I expressed my disappointment to Shaz, he continued to talk over me until he actually hung up on me. Hoping Peter D will see this & respond accordingly. Again, look at alllllll of my reviews. I actually only have positive ones because I believe in recognizing people when they do good, while it seems that everybody else comes to Yelp just to complain. You will clearly see that's not how I operate & I give kudos all the time. I need a response to correct this issue as we won't be returning if it's not.... this is a really high classy place. I'm not sure how they rate it, but I would give it a four or five star rating. If you're trying to impress a date and the both of you like fish this place is top-notch I strongly recommend it. It can get rather pricey, but you get what you pay for large dishes, wonderful atmosphere very romantic. Great drinks. They are also extremely LGBT friendly! I've been here so many times, I just remembered I need to do a review!!!! My favorites from past visits- The Dead Fish Cioppino Stew!!! Crabwich, Crab Angel Hair Lasagna, Seafood Black Linguini!! This visit, I did the Sizzling Iron Skillet Combo! It has Mussels, Shrimp, and Crab!!! Delish!! It came with two sauces, one butter (can't go wrong), and the other tasted like a Cioppino in a cup!! So good!! Hubby and I shared a dozen oysters, it comes with lemon and vinegar/onion sauce to add with Tabasco!! Highly recommend these dishes!! We also shared the Cowboy Ribeye Steak- Medium Rare- it was cooked to perfection!! Perfect time was at lunch when they opened, usually the tables are filled and you have to wait for a seat. The food was mediocre; the crab was seasoned well but overcooked and dry. What really disappointed us was the service. As a Chicano couple with visible tattoos, we felt stereotyped and ignored while our server spent time engaging warmly with other nearby tables. We waited over 15 minutes just for water, were never asked if we were celebrating anything (this was a belated Mother's Day), and only received drink refills when we were already asking for the check. The support staff who brought our drinks were far more respectful than our actual server, whose attitude came across as dismissive and arrogant. We left feeling judged by our appearance rather than treated as valued guests. The dead fish is apparently the happening place to celebrate birthdays. As we sat on the patio on a weekday night, there was no joke 6 birthdays. While they have a plethora of heaters on the patio they don't have enough fans to circulate the air on untypical warm evenings. They also could find useful those tabletop fly fans as we were constantly shooing Flys away. The food was all great and delicious. The only complaint our group had was that the shrimp were all tiny. While we didn't expect prawn sized we did at least expect bigger than basically popcorn size. We had a good variety of food between salads and crab feast, garlic noodles and shrimp and fries. Service was top notch. One server had the entire patio but she had a team behind her of busers, drink runners and food runners so nothing was ever slow. Sadly dessert was disappointing as the menu had the incorrect cheesecake of the day listed and pistachio cheesecake is just disgusting. read more

I wasn't given much information before heading there with hubby, but being a seafood lover the name piqued my interest (and I can't eat a live one! Lol) The drive there was well worth it (about 30mins from our hotel in Concord). Parking is deceiving because depending which side of the street you come up on, it seems like you need to hunt for a spot, but there's actually an abundance of spaces, so it's worth driving up the "hill" (if you enter at the bottom) and checking out the full scene if it's not an overly busy time of day (we went around 5:30pm on a weekday). One half of the restaurant is much nicer than the other, nothing a little reno can't fix), so my husband found us a spot on the nicer side with a beautiful, bright view high above the water and surrounding area (find a seat on that side, the outside seating is glorious!) A little tidbit... they don't charge corking fees if you bring your own wine. And the food was served hot and quickly... large portions and was perfectly seasoned... delicious!!! Was returning from an emotional journey of scattering my mom's ashes in SF Bay and was referred to this restaurant by a friend. And WOW! The food, friendly staff, and service was awesome. The views were fabulous and comfort level on the outdoor patio was surprising on a cold day as the heaters kept it very nice outside. HIGHLY recommend the mussels .. we will be back and having a craving for these in the meantime. The only bummer was a patron on a narrow stretch of the outdoor dining area who insisted on feeding a raccoon. Most people know NOT to feed wildlife, and as cute as this raccoon was, their reliance of human food and danger this presents when people get too close can't be emphasized enough. The manager was kind enough to try to educate the diner and gently shoo away the raccoon who had obviously had too many close interactions with humans and was terribly close to the man who was on his hands and knees. The man became terribly upset and left the restaurant, even though we observed great service - just because he didn't agree with the manager's request he not feed the raccoon. WOW! The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the service were wonderful. I started with oysters, followed by an espresso martini, followed by the grilled Branzino. Everything was delicious! Last night the hostess was very accommodating in changing our reservation due to one person in our party stuck in traffic. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was not very busy. That was great for us. We sat at the bar for a while waiting for our companion to arrive and had bread and drinks. The bartender was very good and the drinks were great. After being seated, our server, David was super nice, answered all our questions and opened our wine (No corkerage fee!). He was efficient and one of the best servers we've ever had. The food was great, served fresh and hot. The room was quiet, conducive to discussions. The restaurant and rest rooms were clean and well maintained. It's worth the two hour drive to get here. Garlic noodle with crab-yummy Three crab sliders-yummy- downside there was barely any crab at all. Fortunately the helpful stellar waittress got us a small side of crab to put in the sandwhiches. Deep fried artichoke-yummy Epi bread and butter-yummy-note this fresh yummy butter is whipped fresh and is delicious on the warm bread. Grilled shrimp with dipping butter- yummy but disappointed they left the shell on which took a messy few minutes to remove ourselves. The chocolate sundae was large fresh and delicious shared by the three of us as well as a slice of salted caramel vanilla crunch cake- yummy. Give this place a try you will be glad that you did . If you come for the view and ambiance it's fun. The food for the price is mediocre. Back in 2019 I ordered a branzino dish that you had the option to have it cooked in different ways, one of them being grilled. The fish came whole, and I remember the guy asking if I wanted it deboned. Flash forward to last night 3/13/26 I wanted to come and have the same dish, because I loved it last time. They bring it to me and it's a very small filet that looked like half the fish. No bones, because it was probably frozen and processed. Very sad dinner and very salty. So sad because it's such a charming restaurant, but the food for the price is not worth it sadly. read more

The Deadfish is known for the crab but they cook an amazing filet that had a salty crust that kept the juices in and was perfectly prepared. The Dead Fish is a pretty popular restaurant in Crockett overlooking the Carquinez bridge. It has beautiful views and seafood and steaks. However this review is tailored more for a weekday lunch. My boss and I were coming back to Vallejo from Oakland and stopped by here, since we were going back to work we didn't plan on doing any of the amazing seafood plates that the dead fish is known for. We did however get the Crab Cakes ($24 for 2) which had pretty good portions of crabs. We both got salads, my boss got the wedge and I got the Caesar salad and added chicken. The chicken was well flavored and added a nice touch and protein to the salads. For an appetizer, 2 salads with chicken, and some drinks the bill came out to about $89. So more on the pricey end. There are multiple parking lots where they remind you to not leave any valuables in your car. Service was nice and quick and I can see them getting busy. From what I saw with the seafood and dinner items, it's worth a try. In the past my family has had dinner here before and we've enjoyed it. read more
