A great store & a great find. I had some major plumbing issues in my bathroom & called my usual plumber for a quote. He gave me a quote and said if I wanted to buy my own fixtures (rather than use the ones he would install) I could do that. He recommend to not go to Home Depot or similar big box store, but to a plumbing store. So I turned to Yelp for answers & found The Faucet Guy. I'm glad I did. Not only did Mitchell take the time to show me (and spoke to me, not my husband -- which doesn't often happen -- ladies know what I mean!) the different types of fixtures I would need and the differences in cost. While we were there, other plumbers had come in to buy fixtures, so you know it's a good sign. Additionally, he was able to give referrals for another plumber, who could work with a carpenter to get my shower plumbing fixed and the wall replaced same day (my plumber didn't have a carpenter to work with). Not only could I get it done in a day, but the referral was $150 cheaper than the quote from my plumber. Mitchell is an old school, no nonsense Chicago guy, selling a good product. I live in a old home and one of the faucets for the tub started to leak I thought uh oh how easy is it going to be to find a replacement as the original could be older then I am. Well after a trip to 2 Home Depots and 1 to Menards and no help I found the faucet guy her on Yelp. 5 minutes in his shop he repaired my what he said was at least a 50 year old faucet ( and yes older then me) all for only 5 bucks. I stopped here for a broken part that a customer asked to have replaced. I learned that the part had been grafted from two other parts by a "creative construction & plumbing company" that did not return calls. Mitch helped as best he could, but the part just did not exist. On my second visit, I waited patiently while Mitch gave the customer he was helping his complete attention. It was worth the wait, because when it was my turn, i received that same attention. He needed to do some further research, & told me that he'd call back. He wasn't able to fix it because the heater unit was broken but gave me great instructions on how to fix it myself (after buying supplies). He even called back to give some additional instructions. A plumber came in and told us we needed a replacement part that he could not provide. We called the Faucet Guy and then sent him a picture of the part. He said the part could cost $100 but a new faucet was more expensive. We brought it in, he looked at it, made a small adjustment which fixed it and charged us only $5. I have Andre Collection faucets in the master bath of a home I purchased 7 years ago. A plumber recently told me about 3 parts that needed to be replaced in the pressure-balance shower valve. Andre went out of business 2 years ago, so contacting them wasn't an option. I searched online for sources in Atlanta where I live, as well as New York, Chicago, etc. After getting many replies from other businesses that they couldn't help me, I fortunately was directed by one of them to The Faucet Guy. Aidan was very helpful to locate all the parts and sent them to me. When my plumber arrived, we also called and Aidan and another employee spoke with him to make sure he understood how to install the parts. I was afraid it would be necessary to change 2 shower heads and 2 sink faucets so they would match. Getting the parts located and installed was a huge relief! I was hoping someone could come within the hour to fix the leak...and The Faucet Guy did even better!! We have been having problems with our toilet lever and could not figure out why it wasn't working. Our plumber told us we should replace the whole system (a cost of about $180). We went in to see Mitch and took photos of the toilet with us. 5 minutes and $8 later we had the pieces we needed and a full explanation of how to install them. Since I needed the things right away, we ended up going to him and spending more than 2 times as much for stuff that I ended up finding online that night (but wouldnt have received in time for the contractor to finish up our bathroom in a timely manner). save yourself the headache and look for things online from other vendors. even with shipping and delivery from amazon or other folks, his prices were ridiculously high. The Faucet guy was my fourth stop looking for a part for my Grohe shower faucet. Home Depot, Lowe's and one other local supply store did not have the part. The Lowe's guy actually pointed me to The Faucet Guy as he might have the stock in his store. I walked in, met Mitch and we began at the beginning of my faucet issues. He was very knowledgable about our random faucet from the late 90's and was able to pick out two parts he thought were the problem. One part he had in stock and the other he called on and Grohe actually would not be able to supply for 2-3 months. Off I went with the first part and it did exactly what we needed it to do and fixed the problem. I would highly suggest taking a trip to visit Mitch if you are a home DIY'er (if you are a full time plumber I am sure you already understand Mitch's value) and are a tad unsure if you need to replace your full faucet or if it might be a specific part. The prices were fair, the parts were in stock (except for the full faucet system which they apparently don't make right now), but the help was worth the trip alone. No need to call around to get the best price. Just call and ask for Roy. I called several places on a Tuesday afternoon after my tenant's water heater went out. There was water on the floor and it's 13 years old, so I knew it would need to be replaced. I called 8 different places. They either wanted to send a tech out to assess the situation before providing a quote and guaranteeing they could replace it the same day, or they wanted to charge me almost twice as much as Roy quoted me. When I talked to Roy I gave him all the information for the water heater and the area. He provided the quote to replace it and explained it could be more if he runs into problems (of course) and he would be over in about 90 minutes. He was here in 90 minutes and had it replaced in about 90 minutes by himself, even after running into a few obstacles. He even educated and gave us suggestions on other things that were in our basement. I am so impressed by the quick response, price, and quality of service of Roy. I was in town visiting a friend whose kitchen faucet was broken. Someone at Home Depot referred me to "The Faucet Guy" and I couldn't have been happier that he did. Instead of replacing the whole faucet, they saw exactly what was broken from a poor quality picture on my phone and explained exactly how to fix it. Roy completed a terrific job in short time. He provided me an estimate which was lower than expected even after he pointed out several other items which needed corrected in order for the house to be safe (just purchased and moving in). He installed a high-grade ejector pump to service my basement bathroom, ran a vent line to an existing vent, and re-ran the water line from the pump to the main exit line from the house. In addition to this, one of his comrades who specializes in HVAC installed a pump to run the condensate line of my air conditioning unit up into the basement ceiling, over the finished basement, and down into the clothes washer drain. This required cutting a few holes in the drywall, which was expertly done. Also, the gas exhaust line from the hot water heater and furnace to the chimney were replaced with a higher vertical pitch to eliminate the threat of carbon monoxide escaping into the furnace closet. For a third item, Roy updated the piping on my hot water heater to meet code. All of this was done with precision and care, and ample cleanup afterwards. Plenty of communication before, during, and after the project. Yes, Roy makes this look easy. I will certainly contact him again for future work. read more

What a godsend to find someone in the city that has plumbing parts for older plumbing! The valves and diverter in the bathroom in one of my mom's apartments were very old and leaky. I had replaced the seals a few times, but the valves were beginning to rust. They were probably at least 60 years old, so they were not easy to find near by. Consumer Plumbing recommended the Faucet guy. I can't say that it was cheap for the parts, though. I could've bought 2 brand new shower valve sets for the price I paid for just 2 valves and 1 diverter, but then I'd have to take the wall apart to install it. I really didn't have the time for that, so I paid the money. I may have found them on the internet more cheaper, but it'd be extremely hard not knowing the part number, specs, etc. So, sometimes it is worth to pay more for less effort and time put into a job (time is money). If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Let me explain why. I don't understand a thing about plumbing and stuff, all I know is that there is a crazy loud noise in my master bath and my building engineer told me to get a part in this place. Mitch took 2 hours of his very busy time trying to figure out what is going on in my house since he didn't believe the part I had with me was the one causing the problem. He called his supplier twice to find out which part should be replaced and found out my faucet was under warranty, so that I'll get a brand new one at no cost . He also fought for expedited shipping 'cause "she can't stay without a bathroom" (this is what he told his supplier on the phone). To make a long story short, I'm getting a replacement in 2 days and Mitch didn't make a penny on me. I didn't buy the faucet at his shop nor the part I intended to because Mitch believes it is not the correct one. All he did was helping me. For 2 hours. For free. Was told by my plumber that i needed this cartridge and the only guy in town who carries it his good buddy the Faucet Guy so i called and ordered it ($150). Ends up I am replacing the shower so I called back to see if I could get either my money back or a store credit since I am buying a new faucet. I just moved to Chicago from New York and bought a very old condo! I was excited to find a small plumbing store in the area (I'm not a fan of big box stores) BUT after my experience I will NEVER be going back. Not only are the staff rude, but impatient and very cocky. They sold me a part they swore would fix my shower and when the plumber installed it, he not only noticed it was the wrong part, but also the wrong brand. The store refused to take it back even after they assured me it would work. Now I am out over $250 for both the plumber and the part. Thank you for that! Horrible place to do business. The guy sold me two faucet replacement cartridges which he himself chose for two faucets. He install one cartridge on one of my old faucets right there at the store. He charged me 102 dollars for the cartridges, o rings, and some grease. He did not provided me with an actual receipt for the sale. He said that I was getting an email. That night, ss soon as I installed the faucet with the new cartridge, it leaked from the top. By the way, he also replaced the o rings on the faucet. I went back the very next day to have my return the defective parts and get my money back. He refused to return my money saying that they had a no returns policy. He did not have any signs posting this policy and was told that the policy was stated on the email. I have proof on the email that says nothing about no returns. I called the Chicago police but as usual they did not arrive at all. I then called my bank and requested to have the transaction voided. I was told that they can do that. Please, do yourself a favor and to not buy from this guy. He is a dishonest person. I am contacting the BBB as well. Businesses like this should not be allow to operate. This guy has no concept of what is like to keep customers. I will never buy from this guy ever again. read more

Went in with a photo of my 90+ faucet that was leaking bad.......in a matter of seconds, he pulled the part. I was nervous about fixing it myself as I have NEVER done any plumbing repair......he explained how easy it was and showed my step by step.
