We moved to St. Simons Island 25 years ago and have craved fried catfish ever since. Fish Dock features it on Friday nights and we gave it a go. Oh My--absolutely dream fulfilling! My wife and I were passing thru Georgia on I-95 and noticed a billboard for Fish Dock. We made a quick decision to give it a try and took the exit. It took about 12 minutes to get there but was well worth the wait. The restaurant is located in an old building on the waterfront and has nice views. It has the feel of an old "fish camp". The food was really good. My wife ordered fried shrimp with coleslaw and a baked potato. She was very pleased with the half pound of shrimp she was served. The Cole slaw and baked potato were also good. I ordered a fish and shrimp dinner and had a choice of Sea Bass or Mangrove Snapper. I chose the Sea Bass. It was served whole and was lightly battered and fried. It was cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. The shrimp were big but not jumbo sized. Probably a good dozen on the plate so a very generous serving. They were also lightly battered and fried and were very good. My sides were Cole slaw and cheese grits. The slaw was creamy and very good. The grits were ok but nothing to brag about. Hush puppies were served with both entrees and we agreed they were better than you would get at most seafood restaurants. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Bottom line- if you are in the area and aren't in a big hurry, then Fish Dock is well worth your time. read more

This place was great. I'll be the first to say I had a bias against it because it was previously Pelican Point and I just wasn't a fan of that place. The Fish Dock was nothing like what Pelican point used to be! I had an amazing fried shrimp dinner that came with an amazing price tag. $14 bucks gets you two big sides, I chose the Mac and cheese and the grilled veggies, hush puppies and a great portion of fried shrimp. It was all delicious. The fried shrimp were better than my previous favorite of BnJ's. Also had buffalo wings for an app and man those those things were just amazing and season really well. Not super spicy which was fine I don't like mine hot I like them to have flavor and these certainly did! They offer a great view. They are working on the decorations and design of the place, but they seem to be going in the right direction. They are also working on putting an education room in the back to showcase how fish to table works and how to maintain a sustainable ecosystem. It's going to be fabulous when they get it all done. Overlooking the interior decorating the food was just really really good and the price was even better! The manager Kelly was super nice and friendly and came to our table and the waitstaff was very attentive. I think this place must of improved since some of the reviews below because the sweet tea was amazing and they had a kids menu with color crayons and our waitress knew everything about the menu. Okay, we have been driving past this billboard on our way to the beach each weekend and thought it was just some run of the mill crummy seafood place. Boy, I was wrong. They are a restaurant with fresh seafood, semi-decent beer selection for small town Georgia, and pretty delicious food. Not only that, they ship their local fresh clams worldwide! It's a pretty large operation. They also allow boaters to bring their fresh catch up to the docks and the restaurant will cook it for them. We went in the winter, but apparently its hoping busy in the summer. We will be back. read more

Well second time was not as good. The food in July was great as was the service. Unfortunately they have a new chef. I vote to get the old one back ASAP. No scallops at an early dinner. Crab cake was twice the size in July. Shrimp and Grits was cold and uncooked, then they microwaved the entire plate. So bread was soggy. Shrimp are now medium size. Sounds good in theory. Fresh seafood right from the boat. Over priced for what you get. Our steamed shrimp had good flavor but was so over cooked it was hard to peel. Bacon clams were chewy. So, yummy! Did you know they have an amazing burger! Ground short rib and brisket meet up amazingly! The shrimp batter were perfectly Crunchy! The shrimp were fat and sweet! The smashed potato was a baked potato squished and then fried (greasy) but I was fairly warned! The soft shell crab was so full of meat and again I love the batter! The French fries are potato curls. I can never find those skinny fries anymore , what the heck! I plan to go back on a Friday for ribeye steak night and all you can eat shrimp! This place puts all the St Simons seafood restaurants to shame. Its a long drive, but its well worth it! The seafood is fresh and if you love clams like I do, you'll love this place as they are harvested right outside their back door. The view is beautiful, which you cannot find on SSI & Jekyll. The whole fish & shrimp platter only cost $29.95. I counted almost 20 shrimp on the plate plus the whole fish plus 2 sides. Most restaurants on St Simons charge $22 or more for just 12 shrimp. The clam chowder was delicious and the mac & cheese was wonderful. Make the trip!! read more

Amazing food! We were on the second long day of driving home and decided a break might be nice. My husband had seen the billboard numerous times and wanted to give it a try. It's pretty far off the beaten path but the view and quality of food make it well worth it. He started with sir clam chowder which was very thick but good. Then he ordered the fried shrimp and I got the Fish Dock fish tacos. His plate came with a pound of lightly battered shrimp that were fantastic! My fish taco had a grilled whitefish that is lightly seasoned and flaky. I order fish tacos regularly and these were some of the best I've eaten. We'll be stopping by again. read more

We were so happily surprised to stumble into this off the beaten path gem. The scenery was spectacular as was the food!!! Crystal our waitress was so knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic! The portions are very small for the price. The menu is nothing like what is on line. There was no fresh crab at all. We paid 25 bucks for a plate of French fries, because there was only one small piece of fish on the plate. This location off the highway is a good distance. I stopped in for a "quick" lunch but I am now taking my time as this place is located on a river with panoramic views! I ordered the Soft shell crab sandwich and it was amazing! It comes with not one but 2! Sides so I got twisty fries and coleslaw. Great combo. I only request they carry more options for craft beer.. 2 of the 4 taps are local which is good for a small selection. I am happy I made the long detour to this great place! This restaurant used to be good in its heyday, but now it's just a disappointment. I ordered the shrimp plate with sweet potato fries and Mac & cheese. The Macaroni and cheese was horrible. There was hardly any cheese in it. It looked like it came from a box. The sweet potato fries were tasty yet cold. The crab cake was too soft and forgettable. The only thing I enjoyed were the fried shrimp. They did a great job with those. A little more Ild Bay Seasoning and it may have been worth the price. Perhaps I cannot give a proper review because I chose not to actually eat here this evening. I'll be honest, it's been almost five or six years since I've been here last. I understand that they're all you can eat business model as pelican point was probably not very sustainable. However, the menu items that pelican point offer were almost all either steamed or broiled. It'd be hard pressed to find any fried food other than your typical hush puppies, etc. Unfortunately, the new menu offers almost exclusively fried foods. Some of the items can certainly be made broiled or blackend. I just don't feel like I'm going to be getting anywhere close to the same bang for my buck as I did previously. The current menu reflects what I can easily get within 10 minutes from home, so no real need to travel 45 minutes to Eulonia any more. Is the quality worth the drive? That'll be up for somebody else to decide. The ambience, remains spectacular. The wooden boathouse type atmosphere next to the shrimp docks is certainly an asset they have retained. This location will continue to be a novelty for interstate travelers, and perhaps the very local crowd. I certainly wish Charlie and his crew the absolute best in the future. read more

What a great place! Driving from FL to NC, we noticed The Fish Dock at Pelican Point billboard advertisement on I-95 and followed the signs. This quaint fishing community is nestled in a very southern but true American hardworking community. Daily the fishermen of the restaurant begin the day on a deep sea fishing boat to grab that "catch of the day." Today the catch of the day was Trigger Fish, which by the way was DELICIOUS! We started with the Wasabi Tuna appetizer- yummy! Then we had a fresh Greek salad. This was not a salad shaken out of a bag. My husband ordered the fried shrimp and oyster dinner (It look so good that I had to perform a taste test.) which was tasty. I ordered the Catch of the Day Captain's Platter. It is the first time I have eaten blackened Trigger Fish. It was a fluffy white fish that was outstanding! I would definitely recommend this locally owned restaurant! The 7 mile road trip off I-95 was well worth our time. We will return. An added bonus: The movie Gemini Man with actor, Will Smith, filmed a scene here! read more
