I don't know if ownership changed but I have had the worst experience the last 2 trips here. The Hispanic woman with the pierced lip is horrible. First time she "helped" me I had to ask if she worked there because she was in the front watching TV. Then she was very unprofessional and ended up giving us the wrong order which I didn't discover til I got home. Second trip - she couldn't get the order right and was making excuses. This isn't rocket science. Then she tells me I ordered it wrong. If she is still there IF I go back that's it, I'm done with this location. I left there so angry and frustrated. And finally, I was told Melinda the manager is "never hardly here" so I can't even contact her. 2 stars is because I like the food. read more

I do not recommend this place. The service is horrible. I walked in yesterday Sunday May 15th and it was about 7:45 so I had time to order. The employee a young woman was trying to close the register and had me stand there as she was doing something. Finally after a couple of minutes she said are you going to order? I said yes and before I was done ordering she said we do t have veggies. Turned around looked at the cook and rolled her eyes. She then asked if the grill was on? Who does that? You're already taking my order. So I still ordered because my family was hungry and mind you I was ok with no veggies. We waited and she seemed bothered and mad. An elderly lady walked in and the cook shook his head. As if they were both bothered. My order was finally ready and before we could walk out the young lady employee turned the lights off. I felt horrible. As if they wanted us out. As we were walking out the employee rushed passed us and got into a white van. Nobody should ever be treated this way. My children noticed the service and asked what is wrong with the lady? I will never ever return to this place and please take this in consideration the employees don't care. read more

The owner is ridiculously cheap and greedy. I bought 3 bowls. I asked for a larger container I could use to fill with sauce so that I would not have to stand there for 5 minutes and waste my time filling tiny cups of teriyaki sauce over and over and packing them to go. The employee gave me a large container, but the owner saw this and told her not to give any large containers for sauce in the future, despite the fact that I had purchased three bowls. The owner is the bald one with the accent. He is extremely cheap. I have been eating at flame broiler for over 3 years but will never visit this location again. Horrible customer service. read more

Great & friendly place. Just when I was about to get Panda Express, they told me their kitchen had closed early and that's all they had left on the counter. So I left & walked by flame broiler. Knowing they were about to close, I was welcomed in. Even though they had chicken left, they offered to make the angus for me. I felt so happy, great customer service. Happy this Flame Broiler finally opened up nearby my house. Their food is always great. Very healthy options. I had the works plate which comes with chicken, beef, rice, salad, mixed veggies, and fruit. Definitely get a lot of food here. Portions are very generous. Price was about $8 for all that food. They have a "Magic Sauce" which is basically teriyaki and soy sauce mixed together. The salad was kind of bland so next time I will opt for the regular bowl instead of the plate. Service here is great. I believe this location is run by a married couple who are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming here more often. read more

I love this place!! I always order their white meat chicken bowl with veggies but lately I have been ordering a side of white meat, side of veggies, and a side of white rice. The total comes out to a little over $12 but I have enough food for two meals. The owner is always there and making sure that his customers are satisfied with their meals. Everything is on point here. They recently changed their sauce containers to a smaller size and now I have to do double the work...but I can live with it. The chain isn't bad, but this location is. The signage says they close at 9pm, but arriving any time after 8pm is a risk, typically out of one thing or another. Arriving after 8:45 you'll be greeted with a well-lit establishment and a not-so-friendly "we're closed." But from there you can make it to the location by the Northridge Mall by 9 (not all that important since they're open until 10) where you'll find a much better staffed establishment. In fact, save yourself a lot of trouble and simply skip the Mason location and head to any of the other spots. read more

Love the concept of this place. Very simple ... get a bowl, add white or brown rice, then add the toppings you want. You can then add the sauces you want, making it as healthy as you want. They get extra points for not charging more for brown rice (like the awful folks at SanSai, who ask you questions about what you want, not mentioning they are adding more to your bill each time...they suck). It's really nice having an option for a bowl that's healthy and fast - the prior option was Panda Express across the street, but who can avoid the (fried) orange chicken there? You get a big bowl of rice, veggies, and meat all for $6. That's really awesome. And explains why, even though they are new, they were busy. The guy behind the counter was really nice and helpful, too. They even threw in a free drink since they're new. My only problem - the meat wasn't hot. It was mildly warm, which means it cooled off fast. Hopefully that's something they can fix as they get into the groove of running the place. I'd definitely recommend trying it out. read more

This is a REALLY simple concept. Brown or White rice... meat... maybe some veggies.. thats it. Its so simple that it works though. They don't offer any desserts or other foo foo items... they're really sticking to their guns. My son and I love this place. First of all: NO GREASE! everything is broiled to perfection. Both beef and chicken are very tasty and fresh. We have always ordered the work bowl. For a big guy like me (225lb), it looks like an appetizer. But when you finish the bowl, you sure feel full. The veggies are nicely steamed and still crisp when you bite into them. The rice is steam cooked and has no oil in it. The "Magic Sauce" is truly magical. Honestly, I go through 3-4 of them with each meal. The place is nice, clean and friendly. Many times, my clipped coupon had expired and they honored it. I love Flame Broiler's food. You should try it. read more

So this is what flamebroiler corporate customer service tells you when you find a bone in your food and it cuts the roof of your mouth:"Unfortunately we live in an imperfect world and are imperfect" . Then they eventually just stop emailing back and then the location gets back to you and tries to guilt trip you about them having to refund you for the bowl! Sorry but it was too little too late and corporate is the absolute worst. This company doesn't give two sh*%s about their customers. The food is always yummy, and the employees are always nice. the atmosphere is completely different when the owner is there. He isnt an enjoyable person to deal with... He's the worst part about this place, he's the only person I've dealt with their that is rude, and doesn't thank you for coming and isn't polite. I am a big fan of The Flame Broiler. The food is simple, chicken or beef, not breaded, with veggies (broccoli, cabbage, carrot), and white or brown rice. Plus for the plates we had a little side salad and an orange slice. What I love: the service is great. The owners clearly care about delivering good customer service, and seemed genuinely happy to see us each time we visit. I love having a quick, healthy option for the three teens in my house and an alternative to Panda Express across the street. What I wish they would add: grilled fish or shrimp options, and tofu veggie options. Then it would be perfect as my fast food healthy treat! read more

The reason this brand is around is due to making cook to order food but this was G&A from it. I went to one of these in San Diego which was very good because the chicken and beef works plate I ordered there was grilled to order. They gave me old chicken and beef that was available. I know this because a deaf couple came in after me and ordered and when they got there food the owner specifically said he had cooked there chicken fresh. He doesn't let people use there bathroom you have to go to smart and final in shopping center. Bad bad experience and let down from San Diego experience. I tried the tofu veggie bowl here and I was disappointed. The brown rice was good, there were hardly any vegetables, there was tons of tofu but I didn't like it. I don't know if the sauce ruined the tofu but it was an awkward texture and tasted like BBQ. I was bummed I got only one carrot slice, only a couple small broccoli, and a few pieces of cabbage. Ate here couple of times last week. It was not very crowded as I visited during non-peak hours (~11:00am and 4:30pm). Place is clean and the staff greeted me both the times. Service was quick, less than 5 mins and the food was hot. I had the half and half bowl. The chicken was tender and tasty and the beef was very delicious and well cooked. Food was not greasy which is a plus. The spicy sauce (green one) had a kick and the triple spicy sauce was amazing and quite hot. The sauces make the food taste even better. I like that the customer has the option of adding it and it does not come premixed/added. None of the food was burnt. Loved the food. Will definitely eat again if I am around this area. read more

What a great find for a tasty, healthy meal. I had the rib plate and my wife had the chicken bowl - both were terrific. The veggies were incredibly fresh and the meat was super-tender and very flavorful. Extra "magic sauce" is available but I found the meal to be flavored just right as-is. I did add a little hot sauce since I like a little kick. The half-orange made a refreshing compliment to the savory ribs. They post a detailed nutrition chart (more than just calories) so you know you're eating healthy. Service was quick and super-friendly. Ramin made some great suggestions (those ribs!) and made sure we were enjoying our meals. The tables, condiment bar, and bathrooms were kept very clean and fresh.
