Definitely liked the atmosphere and frog theme. Quirky. It kinda stopped there. Traveling thru headed west and felt like trying something different. Reviews for the Froghead Grill were good so we stopped. Wife had the chicken fried steak and I tried the hamburger steak entree. I requested mine medium and was told they only cooked it well done. I said I didn't want it so tuff it would be like ground jerky. I was told it wouldn't be that bad. Heck they could've used this as a discus in the Olympics. For sides we both had the veggie medley. Quite a bit of veggies but no seasonings. The wife's chicken fried steak was on the tuff side too although she said the seasoning was good. Overall if you just want to enjoy the atmosphere I'd go. If you're hungry and just need to satisfy the hunger bug I'd go other than that it's a pass for us next time thru. read more

What can I say about The Froghead Grill except that I love it so stinkin' much! I was introduced to the Froghead Grill back in 2017 when my dad and I passed through. My dad found this place on google and I didn't want to eat here (I was young and foolish). Well, we ate here anyways and I'm so glad we did. Since then, I've always made it a point to stop at Froghead Grill whenever my husband and I pass through Clinton on our way out to Texas to see my parents. Over the years, I've tried a few different things from the menu, although I usually stick to the Shrimp 'Dilla since I only get to eat it during the few trips out to Texas. Everything I've had has been great. I always get the Shrimp 'Dilla and a side of cheese grits. The quesadilla is messy but fantastic. Inside the quesadilla is shrimp and some type of sauce, and they also give you another type of sauce to dip it in as you eat. The cheese grits are my favorite type of grits--fluffy with lots of volume. The pico that comes on top tastes great mixed in with the grits. My husband usually gets chicken strips (he's picky) with fries and cheese grits without the pico. There are cans of Tony Chachere's seasoning on the table that he likes to put on his chicken strips and fries. When I ate here the first time with my dad, we tried the fried pickles and red beans and rice. Both were great as well! read more

Decided to try this restaurant out while visiting family in Mississippi. The atmosphere has a small, country feel to it. Of course, there is frog decor everywhere. They are known for their gumbo, but I opted for the shrimp and grits. The flavors were really good. The grits were cheesy and quite delicious. Also, the shrimp was well seasoned. They put a bit of pico de gallo on it to add freshness and liven it up and that's what it did. The grits were a tad bit dry would be my only knock, but overall a solid dish. For this establishment, you order your food at the counter, pay, get a number and your cups, and your server brings out your food. They have a station where you get your own drinks and own refills. Since I was paying by credit and did not have any cash, I had to tip before having any food or service, so that wasn't great. Service was fine. read more

Here's the thing...how could you not eat at a place called The Froghead Grill??? I always search for local places when traveling, but most of those are never near the interstate. This place was! I had the Pacific Wrap and it was delicious! Also got a bite of my companion's Catfish PoBoy and it was really good too! Bread pudding was really sweet, but ain't that the way it's suppose to be? Overall, such a refreshing option on a 10 hour trek from Fort Worth to Alabama! If you hate chains, definitely stop here! Super fun with great food! read more

The line at Froghead at lunch time on a weekday is always insane and I don't get it. I think it says a lot about the food options in Clinton because it's just not that great. I've tried several things on the menu and haven't even slightly enjoyed anything but the cheese sticks, which I must admit are usually delicious. Service isn't great either, though. I called ahead to place a to-go order. They gave me an estimated ready time of 15minutes. I arrived at the window 15 minutes after placing my order and had to wait another 15 minutes before getting my food. I thought maybe this would be because they were making the cheese sticks fresh. But alas, when I finally got them, they were room temp and the cheese solid. Very disappointed. Update 8/22/19: Visited again today (I really can't resist those cheese sticks), and my experience was MUCH better. Received my order almost as soon as I arrived at the window and I could tell the cheese sticks were fresh. read more

The service was extremely slow (over 2 hours for a 2 person meal). Order was completely wrong from start to end. The brownie desert had a very long hair in it. Our fries were cold to touch & we were never served our appetizer. People were walking out left and right due to wait time and incorrect orders. Our bill was incorrect multiple times.
