All vacations should start at the Gasparilla Bar. It's oozing with good vibes, fun drinks and really yummy food. Put in a pool and it's a destination all on its own-and it's right there on Airside F! I stop here every time I fly American. I've had nothing but amazing breakfasts and lunches. Most recently it was the Tampa Cubano pressed sandwich-substituting double bacon for the ham. It was so tasty-not greasy at all-with bread that was the perfect combination of crunchy and chewy. And it was so filling! I was set for the day. This time, I was there at 7am, after working all night-and the sparkling guava margarita was the perfect morning cocktail-refreshing and not too sweet. I could have parked there and had one or three more... but boarding was calling. I'm already looking forward to my next trip-and will head to TPA early, so I can stop here again. I hope Erica will be there. She was exceptional, in every way. One of my favorite servers ever-here, there, everywhere. So, after posing with Phoebe in the main terminal, look for the pirate ship in airside F. The bar stools come complete with purse hooks and charging outlets. Service was wonderful! Very attentive bartender that was friendly and accommodating. It's located in F gate of Tampa airport right by gate 78-84. So very convenient for a bite and drink if your gate is close by. The espresso martini and mimosa were great. The food was unfortunately disappointing. I got a breakfast Sandwich and left most of it behind. Overall a great spot for drinks but I'd skip the food. read more

I stopped by to grab a beer before a flight. Was greeted by a gentleman named Dennis. I was there for probably a half an hour. Whoever trained this young man. Did a great job. Watch him interact with all of the customers. He did a great job with everyone laughing and joking with everybody. I will definitely stop back by the next time I'm through Tampa. read more

I'd eat here again. Food is prepared fresh at the bar... hot and tasty. The bar didn't serve alcohol as early as I travel. The guy behind the bar is super nice and recommended a Cuban sandwich. Prices were average for an airport. Terminal F is nicely decorated with an open air design with sharp lines. If you didn't notice, the floors have golf course design. I had an enjoyable time perusing the terminal and getting steps in while I waited for my flight. Well done TPA!! read more

The Gasparilla bar in terminal F is a great way to i toro dice visitors to the Tampa Bay Area but not a great way to send them off. No local beers to speak of at the bar and food selection is pretty minimal. The southwest terminal has better food and drink options with cigar city and ulele. read more

Her husband works at a different terminal she was telling us it was always hot in that terminal and it is very cold in this terminal ...we didn't care. She was wonderful. I had a simple Jai Alai draft and she had Bloody Mary. She loved the spice level and I love the local craft brew. Kelly was our barkeep and a friendly, unobtrusive one at that. Stayed out of our way yet remained friendly and quite solicitous the whole time. She seems to know her craft quite well. Good for her! As for the rest: it's an airport bar. Nothing fancy but quite delightful all rigged up like a pirate ship. You have to laugh at this kind of stuff, though not maliciously. Limited menu for food but my goodness the bartenders kick ass. I had a very lengthy layover so I had the privilege to come here twice in one day. Both times I was served by Sarah. She may be the most efficient bartender I have seen and definitely sets the bar at any airport bar. She was constantly checking on people pumping out drinks all with a smile and a great welcoming attitude. The place sits about 40 people so seats can be hard to come by especially since it is an international terminal with large passenger planes. Should also mention about people putting luggage and carryons on seats to limit some people. Between the renovations taking place in the airport and the flight delays due to weather, the only food I could find was either bagged chips or beet salad with goat cheese. All of the little refrigerated cabinets had beet salad and only beet salad and only Gasparilla Bar had a menu, and beet salad. The bar was hopping with a wait to get a seat. Don't expect an orderly queue. You'll need to circle like a mall parking lot at Christmas, watching for the telltale signs of vacancy and then be prepared to swoop in aggressively. Use your roller bag to block if you have to, but get a seat because the bartenders are myopic and cannot see you and will not take your order if you aren't seated at the bar. The menu is concise with a few sandwich options, some salads and drinks. I was going to miss my connection anyway, so I had a couple of local beers (Cigar City on tap with a few other national brands). The sandwich with chips was alright, not a complex or particularly satisfying Panini, but made right there in front of you, hot and not a beet salad. Overall, a fine experience, but I won't shed a tear when construction is completed on the rest of the eateries down the way. read more
