Mediocre service. None of our food was hot. The coffee was lukewarm, and when we asked for fresh coffee, we were pretty sure he just microwaved it to get it warmer. (The coffee cup handle was very hot). Two of our guests got their food and were halfway through the meal before our third guest even got their plate. We have come here several times since they opened and even though they have some kinks to work out, the food has always been great and we love having a large patio so we can eat outside. We have been here several times over the past year and today was 180 degrees from what this place used to be. The best words that comes to mind are TERRIBLE & HORRIBLE! I will not go back to this place again. We ordered salads for us and pancakes for the kids -very simple order. It took well over an hour to get our salads - no pancakes after waiting another 15mins. We spoke with the manager to find out why we still did not have pancakes for the kids well after we got our salads. The manager was not apologetic at all and said it would be out soon, we waited another 15 min and the pancakes were still not at our table. We spoke with the manager again and we finally got our pancakes after another 15 min. It took them 1 hour and 45 min to bring us two plates of pancakes and the place was not even that busy, and now I see why hardly no one was there. Then we got our check and had items on our bill that we didn't even order. We spoke with the manager at the register and she was not sorry at all for us having to wait and was actually very smug about it and was treating us like dirt. On my wait to use the restroom I overheard a waitress telling other diners that she was sorry for their wait, so the whole operation is just a complete disaster. Again I will never go back here ever again and I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

We went here for a late breakfast and the service was awesome. Very attentive bringing every condiment we asked for. Believe it or not I took a chance on the steak and eggs. The ribeye was cooked medium rare just as I had asked and was surprisingly delicious. We never normally order a steak at a breakfast place. Everything is delicious without exception. Located in back of Bartonville town center cluster of buildings. More spacious than it appears from the outside (additional outdoor seating). Pleasant muted soft rock music atmosphere, late morning, midweek, not crowded. No WiFi . My partner had the berry pancakes, I had the country biscuit omelet (omelet folded around a split biscuit and covered with gravy). Those items were fairly unique and were hot and tasty! Service was excellent, food arrived very quickly. We washed it down with water and orange juice. It was either fresh-squeezed or did a good job of fooling us! Neither of us are coffee drinkers so I can't speak to the attentiveness of the staff maintaining a full cup. Overall impression was good food, good service, unobtrusive atmosphere (other patrons had finished and remained at their tables visiting or reading), decent variety in the menu and prices about what you'd expect. New to the area and took my wife for breakfast. I got biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were like hockey pucks. Wasn't going to say anything until the lady behind me sent hers back with the same complaint. When we checked out and they asked about the meal I told them about the biscuits and that the lady behind me had sent her's back. I was politely told they were usually good. Then I was charged full price and not asked to come again and try it at a later date or anything. I did not give a one star review because the hostess was pleasant and my wife's food was pretty good. Our family went to The Golden Egg after church today. Of course, it was busy, being one of the few restaurants in our town that offers breakfast. We put our name on the list and waited for about 10-15 minutes. I asked about how much longer and was told we could be seated immediately if we were ok on the patio. It was a damp day but the patio is covered so we took a table outside. We then waited outside with menus for another 5-10 minutes. Even though waiters were serving other tables outside, no one came to our table to even take a drink order. I finally got up and asked a waiter if we could get service at our table. He was a little frazzled but said yes. After another 5 minutes or so with no service, we decided to leave. Unfortunately, given the crowd, I don't think they even missed us. read more

Been here 3 times; won't go back. Food is probably 2-3 stars and the staff were probably 4-5 stars. The owner was rude to us the last time we went. Table coffee creamer came out like cottage cheese. The set-up makes it crowded even if only one other party is waiting. There are just too many other great options in this area to settle for mediocre. read more

The place has a great problem, too many customers, not enough serve staff, bus people. Several times we have tried. Today we sat on patio for 15 minutes while wait staff came by to clean off tables and serve others and never looked our direction. Also, no waiting area for their 20-35 wait list. Nice place. Food, service and atmosphere are all very good. We both had skillet breakfasts with pancakes on the side. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the menu was not all that unique or imaginative (compared to other breakfast/lunch only places I've been to throughout the country.) Wow I am truly mind blown at the experience I had this morning at the Golden Egg. Our server, her name was Mary Jane I believe, was OUTSTANDING. My wig is truly gone after this experience at the golden egg. There was never a moment where we were in need of anything. She was always there to refill our drinks and serve at our pleasure. So attentive and pleasant and struck such a great conversation with my wife and I. The food tasted like it was crafted by Jesus Christ himself and we will definitely be returning for the food and the FABULOUS service we received. Thank you! read more

if there was an option for zero stars this place would get it. me and my friend walked it and we were immediately uncomfortable. all the workers were standing at the front on their phones and they all just stared at us. they said nothing and we proceeded to say "it's just us two" And the manager or whoever she is told us no outside drinks aloud very rudely. Then we said ok and walked out and they began to all stare at us from the window! congrats y'all got a terrible review and lost your last bit of service. Do better. read more

A while back I posted a rather negative review after a disappointing breakfast experience involving food and service. However today I am happy to say that our breakfast was delicious and the service was great. Our orders were prepared exactly as we requested, the toast was warm AND served on a warm plate (a real rarity), our coffee was refilled often and the server was attentive. Staff very friendly and a lot of them (they were all congregating in one corner of the counter) Could use at least one more side stand to move staff around a little. Bit of an odd layout ... waiting areas and traffic conflict a little. Need more bathrooms for family oriented breakfast place. Should offer the counter service at greeting area (was completely empty when we arrived and we probably would have sat there) Table tops (at least for two) crowded with condiments.
