One of the best things about The Grain Cafe is that it's open from early in the morning until late in the evening. In addition, breakfast is served all day; if you're in the mood for a scramble or a breakfast burrito at 3:00 in the afternoon, it's available! The ingredients are all organic and everything is made to order. Custom juices are available. A chalkboard lists all of the fresh ingredients available and each customer chooses up to four ingredients to create a custom juice blend (the price is the same no matter what is chosen). Definitely one of my favorite vegan restaurants in the SoCal area. Whether you're in the mood for Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, they have a ton of options! Service is super good, and the staff is very friendly. Upon every visit I just want to order everything off the menu! The only downside is that parking is a bummer. It's one of those get real lucky or play it safe parking lot areas, make sure to read the signs. I really enjoyed the grain cafe i felt like i was back living in San Francisco. I brought my mom and aunt for dinner neither one of them are vegans and they loved it! I had the wet burrito i had too the pics on yelp had my mouth watering. It was delicious i had it with chicken and the texture of the chicken was perfect. The salsa you see on the table in the photo is HOT so beware. My mom had the Chile relleno which she loved too but some bites were spicy and she does not like spicy food; the menu doesn't indicate spice levels. My aunt had the build your own plate and she loved her veggies, brown rice, and black beans. She also had the pineapple ginger lemonade which Is so good if you love ginger. I had a vanilla latte and it was perfect. We all shared a carrot cake which they loved more than i did! We had great service parking was free in doughnut shop lot across the street after 5pm. I thought I had tried a freshly squeezed juice before in my life. I thought I saw all that fruit and veggies had to offer. SIKE. I pulled up to the GC (grain cafe) and ordered one of their own, MIND BLOWN. You can choose from 4 different ingredients. I thought I ordered an Apple, pineapple, carrot and ginger juice, but they made me a Life, Liberty, Health and Prosperity juice for me. The only negative about this whole experience is that I probably can't order a juice anywhere else now, THANKS A LOT GC (jk I love you guys). Haven't tried their food yet but I heard it's what Chuck Norris ate when he went vegetarian/vegan. I'll check it out next time. read more

Maybe the other meals are good but I got the waffle that was not crispy and came with about two bites worth of cream...asked for more and got another 4 bites worth. Disclaimer: This review is for the breakfast burrito and chilaquiles. From an honest perspective, the breakfast burrito had such a weird taste. More specifically, the "tofu scrambled eggs," "tofu sausage," and "tempeh bacon," tasted artificial and processed. Now, the menu simply lists those tofu imitation meat items as they are, but doesn't give any description to what they're actually made of. Certain restaurants that are thorough in this area will have the ingredients of these items, what they consist of, and so forth. I noticed the menu didn't have any info on these items (I should've trusted my gut). Though this brought some concerns to me while ordering, I still wanted to give it a try. With that being said, I was barely only able to eat half of the burrito. My body felt like rejecting the foods I ate, but this was due to the fact that the meal I ate was in direct contrast to the type of foods I'm used to eating. I'd also like to add that I didn't enjoy the mole sauce. It tasted like a deep, dark bbq sauce that had a bitter note of molasses at the end. As for the chilaquiles, I can say that it tasted better than the breakfast burrito, but that doesn't discount the fact that it still felt "heavy." Heavy as in an there was an excess amount of roja sauce and "tofu egg." The sauce also drenched the tortilla chips which therefore made the chips soggy after some time. Now, the chilaquiles we've had in the past have been made with tortilla chips that were thick enough to not turn soggy and still have a bit of a crunch when biting into it, even after it's been sitting. That wasn't the case here. Again, the "tofu egg" just didn't taste right. We ended up leaving both our plates halfway finished. On the bright side, I really enjoyed their house-made hot sauce. It had the perfect amount of heat and I used it to help me eat what I could of my burrito. It actually surprised me of how good it was. 5 stars for the hot sauce, hands down. In addition to this, I also ordered pancakes on the side to split, but they never came out (our waitress took our order without writing it down). However, this worked to our advantage as we weren't satisfied with the food that was brought to us and didn't want to add more to our bill. In retrospect, I think I should've said something, not to let her know she forgot our order, but to maybe consider the fact that she might need to write down orders for the future. We've had waiters/waitresses do the whole "watch me remember your order by heart" trick and be spot on! But if you're going to do it, you gotta execute. Had our waitress brought everything out, I'd probably be raving on how good the pancakes were. But I'll save that for another visit (if there is another). Again, I love the concept of this restaurant, but I think they should consider adding more fresh/natural substitutes for their breakfast menu, more so in regards to the imitation tofu meats. Tip of the day: Order the foods you're familiar with. read more

I love the Grain Cafe! I visited for my third time today and although the menu is extensive and I want to try all the things, I'm addicted to the Patty Crepe. It's like a (vegan) Big Mac in a (vegan) crepe. Whoever came up with this idea should have a national holiday in their name to celebrate their genius. The prices are a little more than I normally like to spend on lunch (because I'm cheap) but the portions are large so I usually have left overs. I love this restaurant! I come here all the time with my friends and family because it's our favorite vegan restaurant in town! Service is always friendly and fast and I feel like I'm treated like family, they even remember my name when I come in. Ana is my favorite server, she's always so happy and helpful when it comes to suggestions. Our favorite dishes are the Chilaquiles, Wet Burrito, the Reuben sandwich on sourdough (I like it better than the rye), and the pancakes but we haven't met a dish we don't like yet! Nachos: Very little topping that somehow still managed to create a soggy dish. It was probably because the chips were paper thin. Waffle: I was expecting a nice crispy waffle. So disappointed. The waffles are so super soft.... they weren't waffles. They were pancakes in a waffle shape. Tofu scramble: Tasted like tofu, which I like, but the tofu was sautéed too finely, it resembled rice more than it did eggs. Sausage: Good flavor. Service: Pretty good. Servers were attentive. Seating: On a Saturday morning around 11:30, there were plenty of tables. Parking: I only noticed street parking, and there were plenty within a 1/4 mile radius.
