Hands-down the best jumbo scallops in town! Very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The sweet corn ragout made it a complete, hard-to-forget meal. Absolutely worth the $28 and the staff was very good at making sure to ask for the casino club card to discount the meal. Pretty much everyone ordered the porterhouse which I got medium well. I also ordered the French onion soup and we all split a ton of the sides. The porterhouse was 22oz and was perfectly cooked. It's a huge steak which you can share but why would you? The french onion soup was just ok to me but it did hit the spot. Out of all the sides we got my favorite was the truffle fries and the creamed corn. The servers were super friendly and attentive. Although my group ordered a lot everything came out correctly and no one had complaints. Even though it's a steakhouse it has very casual vibes so no need to dress up if you don't want to. read more

Right off I'll tell you that if this restaurant was located somewhere else (not a local casino) I would give it that missing star. The food here is always fresh, filling and really flavorful. The appetizers are NOT to be missed and the portions are more than filling. I especially love their combo plates, you can satisfy that surf and turf craving for a moderate price. Their specials are awesome too. If you love shopping or concerts you can take care of all of this here. Go shopping at the Viejas Outlets and then have a wonderful meal, or have a meal and go to a concert. If you have the same quirks my hint is to valet park your car, go through the lobby, stay to the left and you will be at the Steakhouse in seconds. Wow! Me and Husband made reservations at The Grove Steakhouse for his birthday, and I must say the service and food were beyond up to par. We have had our share of disappointments lately with restaurants, and this experience definitely made up for it. Some of what we enjoyed included the Rockefeller oysters, waygu steak, filet mignon, and brussle sprouts. Our server Taylor was pleasant and added to our wonderful experience. I ordered the 18oz bone-in ribeye and it was great. I also ordered the beets and greens salad, very tasty! The rest of our dinner party had the following: NY strip steak, ribeye caps, filet with shrimp and a pasta dish. Everyone said their food was perfect and the birthday boy enjoyed his slice of chocolate cake for sure. The creme brûlée wasn't the greatest, was thinner and almost runny, but it was still decent and didn't spoil the experience by any means. Reservations are highly recommended. This is a great place for a date, dinner for an anniversary or any special occasion. (that's expected) If you want premium service ask for Felix to be your waiter. He's extremely funny and attentive throughout the entire dinner. Everything here is good. We went here for my moms birthday. I had high hopes for this steakhouse. We ordered several appetizers, entrees, and sides. The sides definitely shined but when it came to my filet mignon.. unfortunately it was burned on the top and overcooked. The whole table had a total of 4 filet mignon and 2 ribeyes. Everyone else's meat was cooked great so I ended up saying something to the waiter. The waitress ended up bringing the same steak back with it cut in the middle(i asked for medium and it was cooked medium well) and said "the chef wanted me to show you the middle of the filet mignon to make sure it isn't how you'd like it to be cooked." I felt obligated to take it back knowing it tasted completely burnt and told my girlfriend that I'm just not going to eat it. When the manager of the establishment came to see how everyones meal was, my girlfriend and I decided to speak up yet again because I'm spending money on this and at the bare minimum, it should be cooked how I ordered it. He said, "if you don't like the taste of the meal we can get you something else." Trust me, I love filet mignon! So I responded, "yes its the taste that I don't like because it tastes burnt. I would still like filet mignon but cooked correctly." I think its crucial for a steakhouse to consistently serve meat cooked to perfection. Yes it was only 1 filet mignon not cooked correctly out of 6 steaks.. but key work CONSISTENTLY. Consistency is what brings me back to Ruth's Chris steakhouse. Me and my husband eat at the grove steakhouse every week. It's the best restaurant in Alpine and one of our favorite restaurants in San Diego. The food is absolutely delicious. Our favorite dishes are the lamb appetizer, lobster bisque, Brussels sprouts, prime rib and short ribs. So freaking tasty! We usually sit on the outside of the restaurant at the bar, because we like to gamble a little while waiting for our food lol. But the service is not lacking just because we're not inside. You may not get the amuse-bouche between meals, but it's worth it... because the bartenders are awesome. Thomas is always there for a good conversation, fast friendly service and he makes delicious cocktails! He always goes above and beyond for his customers too. He likes to make sure everyone is 100% happy throughout their stay. It's no wonder he has been a favorite among bartenders for years here at Viejas. Thomas is always our server and bartender when we eat here, but the rest of the staff we come across are excellent too. I don't know everyone's name, but he works great with everyone I've ever seen him work with. Great team, great bartenders, great drinks, great food... what more could you ask for? read more

They were drunk when they arrived and proceeded to get plastered... They were so incredibly loud and obnoxious that it ruined our family birthday celebration! I love this place. It is literally the only good place to eat at Viejas Casino. The menu varies from time to time but I've had salads, steaks and the specials which have all been very good. The first visit we ordered: Appetizers: Calamari and Pork Belly Entrees: Waygu Beef and Scallops We loved the appetizers (4 stars) but hated the entrees. They were not good. The beef was over-cooked and extremely over-seasoned (2 stars). Not salty but just coated in steak seasoning or marinade. The scallops were also over-cooked and completely tasteless, lacking salt. Covered in puree's that tasted of baby food. No acid, no salt. 1 star. Because we loved the great service, ambiance and appetizers we decided to come back after the manager contacted us about our disappointment following a survey sent to my email. This time we got the seafood tower appetizer and for entrees the filet with foie gras and the bacon wrapped prawn with pasta dish. The seafood tower was just fine. Nothing amazing, but the seafood speaks for itself. 3 stars. The filet and foie was great. 4 stars. The bacon wrapped prawn dish was once again lacking salt and acid. Bland. The vegetables on the plate were raw. Raw Brussels and carrots. It was odd. The prawns were black and burnt. 1 star. The service is amazing, and we love the look of the restaurant. I went here tonight again and the last visit was in 2016 when I was out here. If you are looking for a top of the line meal this my first choice. Elegant and top notch. We ordered the Spanish octopus as an app and it was good. But if you are not familiar with this type of food I would not recommend it. For sides we did the Brussels sprouts and lobster Mac. I had the lamb, someone ordered the porterhouse and another order a steak. The lamb was gourmet and everyone loved their meals. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service was excellent. Saddle your horse, shine your boots and head east to Viejas Casino to dine at the 5 star 4 Diamond Grove Steakhouse. The Grove Steakhouse is very elegant with a modern feel. Seated we were introduced to a team of servers led by Angelika, a well versed well trained pro that met each and everyone of our needs. Wine opened ($25 corkage) we were offered sparkling or still water. We settled on Calamari for our starter. The calamari was flavorful and was accompanied with a chipotle mayonnaise dip. Amuse Bouche was delivered next which was swordfish bite in watermelon juice. For salad I chose the wedge. This was perhaps the least favorite for the night. The wedge was underdressed and lacked flavor. After an intermezzo of frozen melon with berry compote my main course arrived. I chose the 18 oz bone in tomahawk ribeye with Pommes Frites. The steak was cooked to perfection with a flavorful char and Pom Frites were nothing less of excellent. Service is outstanding and price is on point to that found at Fleming's but The Grove provides larger portions and better service. The steakhouse is well deserving of its 5 stars. Got squirrely on trip 11 and doubled down only to get beat by a dealer 5 card 21 (bastard!). WHEN YOU GO- Stick with the steak. The lobster used to be the bomb, but as with the overall experience has gone downhill. Wow! Is it just me or don't most people know we are in a recession? Well just like it says next to my name, I am always in search of great customer service but truly, it wasn't to be had on this particular night. Since we live out in the East County when we decide to go out and eat we try to stay in our neck of the woods knowing that there are mighty nice places out here, so why reinvent the wheel right? Last week we met our sister-in-laws at the Grove Steakhouse located inside the Viejas Casino. Don't be too surprised, both Barona and Viejas have upscale and very nice "grown up" places to eat at and they are both very good. What attracted me was the "special" offer that's going on right now...$15.95 for a full dinner, the dinner was prime rib and it was pretty decent but boy oh boy...the server that waited on us is one of the people that needs to get out of the food serving business and into something less associated with working with people...like say a mortician or grave digger. From the beginning to the end the server was a bust. Cold, unfriendly and dammit I didn't catch her name. About late 30's, short, a blond bob and have you ever met anyone who argued with you about your food? My sister-in-law told her that her soup was cold would she please take it back and the server actually asked her " Really, what do you want me to do about it?" I actually laughed out loud because I thought she was kidding but OMG...she was totally serious! Anyhow, considering how much we spent on dinner and how fairly yummy the food was, it was a pity that this woman was so difficult. She never came back to refill the drinks, in fact the best thing of about the evening was when we left her table. Am I basing my 2 stars on this one visit? Unfortunately no, this would be the second time we have been served by this woman and she was as difficult the first time around. Sigh...what a pity...the restaurant has so much potential but between her and that young kid that works as a "host" (and I use that term loosely) it will be a very cold day in San Diego before we venture out that way. And it's NOT true that you get what you pay for...we paid a pretty penny for dinner and the service was soooo lame...from this point on we stick to Barona when we want to treat ourselves to a nice East County dinner. read more

I have eaten here twice now and this place knows how to cook up some great food. The ambiance is wonderful and I love the dark lit forest setting. Service is top notch and just exactly what you would expect to find at a fine dining establishment. There are none of the usual casino counter/order takers here. From the fresh warm bread in the beginning down to the creme brulee for desert everything is great. I had the stuffed shrimp the other night and it was so good. All entrees include soup/salad, garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. I found the prices to be fair considering the quality of food you receive. I know that this may not be the most convenient location but if you are in the area it is definitely worth a try. This was the perfect setting to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The customer service was fantastic from the front desk employee to the bus boy employee. Every one was cheerful, polite and provided great customer service. The food was great. The fresh bread basket was tasty. We enjoyed a bottle of Blackstone Merlot, lobster bisque and crab cake for starters. Next came the rack of Lamb entree and the 10 oz Filet Mignon each one delicious and beautiful. It literally started off with a couple of old drunk regulars I'm assuming, based off the way they kept interacting with the servers. But they being extremely rude and loud themselves, claimed we were being loud (I don't even drink & literally was too busy going through photos on my phone of my daughter to say much of anything) but complained to the ignorant manager MIKE who came up to us with such an attitude and asked US to keep the noise down. We were like uhm, okay. And then these drunk old broads started talking crap to us from the other booth and slurring her words. And just made the entire evening uncomfortable & clearly this restaurant played favorites. The ribeye I ordered was good but the rest of our food wasn't so great. My asparagus was basically white & barely sautéed enough. The carrots were overly seasoned & crunchy. My Shirley temple was delicious tho. My honey wasn't too thrilled with his oversized baked potato either that could of fed a family of three which was over baked. So our little staycation at The Willows has been wonderful besides eating at what we thought was a good steakhouse before but now see as another washed down eatery inside a casino.
