Went here on our last day of our Myrtle Beach vacation on Friday July 21st 2023 as a party of 8, as we met some family members there. It is a nice big place, with big tables, and pictures of vintage lunchboxes like of Harry Potter, Barney, The Flintstones, and various other characters. Host sat us right away, and we had to wait to be served by our server. understandable though, as they were doing a musical act with Kevin, and it was awfully loud in there. The musical acts is fun, because the servers did the 90's dance cotton eyed joe, and then everyone else did the cha cha slide. pretty cool when one can get an entire restaurant up on their feet! finally, the server was ready to take our orders. we did ask for separate checks, and were given that. Also being that we were a party of 8, the service charge was already added unto the bill. We all started with waters. My table on the other check order fried calamari, which was very good, and a little fishy. For entrees, I ordered the chicken po'boy with avacado, my aunt ordered the chicken po'boy also, as did my mom, my dad ordered the shrimp po'boy, my cousins ordered the bbq burger, and the kids popcorn shrimp,which was on the other check. We were there for quite a while, and then Kevin came out again and started another round of fun! A fun thing is that they had anyone who is celebrating a birthday in July or August to stand up on the seat, then stand on the table and start dancing! That was so much fun! We also did the macarana, and a musical guessing game. Love the audience participation! Also enjoyed the food as well. Paid via credit card and went on our merry way. This is a simple review. If you have kids, definitely go. It's loud, raucous and totally designed for fun for kids/families. If you don't and you're looking for a cool restaurant with really good food, go somewhere else. The food is average and if you're not in the mood for Chuck E Cheese, you won't want to be here. That's not a criticism and this isn't meant to be negative. Just know what you want and manage your expectations before you go. read more

We came here on Father's Day for lunch and everything turned out well. Our burgers were good, our waiter was nice and accommodated all of our needs. The best part was the entertainment host who interacted with everyone, had us dancing and did a scavenger hunt with the kids. It was so much fun and our family enjoyed it! read more

There is very little liquor in the drinks, I would say maybe 1/4 of a shot? We got a drink and added our own soda, so we could see how little was in the glass. The food wasn't anything great either. Awesome place and fun for kids. My only Beef (excuse the pun) is, My son ate the life guard burger as a challenge by the waiter because he said it was impossible to finish and he would need a box. Well, he did finish with all the fries and he was given a plastic shark. LOL I think you need to have shirts made that have a shark on them that says, "I ate the life guard at The Hang out". What a fun place for dinner! The staff is friendly and the food is good. Every hour they get the customers up and dancing and allow people to get on the tables and dance. We had a lot of fun, I just wish the music wasn't so loud between "shows". We weren't able to talk at all. Overall a really fun time at a very eclectic place! read more

We came in a group of 8, and we were told 30 min wait but we were seating in about 15 mins. It is very spacious and great family friendly vacation energy! The frozen drink I got was too sweet and I then got a drink on the rocks it kind of taste like it had tap water in it. I later got another frozen Miami vice and it was sweet, I could barely taste my floater. I got smothered snapper and it was really good! This is my first time here. I ordered the Po boy shrimp sandwich that came with fried shrimp, lettuce and a strip of pickle and side of Mac and cheese. The Shrimp Po Boy was eh. The sandwich did not have any sauce on top of the shrimp (I recommend Bang Bang sauce for flavor.) no mayo or anything. I had to add ketchup because of the lack of flavor. For the Mac and cheese, it wasn't anything special. It lacks flavor and could have drizzled some spicy sauce on top. The Mac tastes like it came from a box. Of course I'll finish my food, I won't waste it. read more

The Hangout was a great experience! It's a beach party vibe with fun interactive activities and music with the staff. They also have a slide for fun times while waiting to be seated. Inside of the restaurant is also a gift shop which is an added bonus if you're vacationing. Outside on the lawn is live music which is always an added bonus and more bonus points if the band is good which it was. Now as you can see I've described everything but the food. It was just ok. For the prices I expected more unfortunately I was completely underwhelmed. I had the calamari which was under seasoned but it was fried well. The kids chicken tenders were grilled and dry, also under seasoned. My sister had chicken nachos again just ok. Another person in our part had a cheeseburger and she said it was dry. I tried the Gouda grits and they were pretty tasty but overall the food experience was a 1. I so recommend this place because it was a nice experience. If you're in Myrtle Beach it's worth a visit just beware you may or may not like the food but you will definitely have a good time. Also, the service was great! read more

Horrible, horrible food.. service was ok. Been twice. Not long after opening, maybe just rusty. Then six months later... still enidible... when ur kids can't even eat the chicken fingers, nor you with your food... and most annoying petpeave when servers never notice, nothing was eaten. Service was excellent and the entertainment was fun as well. I did not enjoy my food. I had the shrimp and grits and it was way too salty and spicy to be enjoyed. The grits were gritty and not smooth at all. On the positive side, my daughter enjoyed her burger and fries. The chicken nachos appetizer was just okay. Very fun! We went during the off season while visiting for my daughter's gymnastics competition and decided to celebrate her birthday there. The Hangout is the dream backyard for any and every age. With grass to play in a tunnel buried in sand with the fun sand pile. There is a hanging challenge where you can win 100 dollars in cash! There is also Jenga and corn hole! The calamari is to die, and the kids will love the blue lemonade slush in the awesome swirly cup. The service was amazing, and our waiter made sure we had everything that we needed at any time! I thought this could not get any better, but it did. Our waitress last night was non existent, then when she delivered our bill said that 20% gratuity was already included for our party of 10.... Which is true, that is their policy. Gratuity is included for parties of 10. However we were only a party of 8. She ran our appetizers as a "guest" to include a guaranteed tip. I absolutely despise that because it feels scummy. We have dined here w an actual party of 10 and the waitress told us up front this was the policy and was super transparent to not have any surprises. We went for a quick meal while visiting Wonderworks and The Hangout was the perfect break! Our server Brittany was amazing; the perfect mix of present but not overbearing, kind and fun but not familiar. The food was delicious, we had a range of burgers, salads, and apps and everything was very tasty and perfectly cooked. The decor is a lot of fun with the various wall decorations. This is my first time coming here, the atmosphere and design in this location is awesome very comfortable. One thing to be aware of is the fact that it is loud in this location. The talk host was entertaining. The audience was ecstatic and participated in all the events. Though my thoughts on the food unfortunately were not so good. I ordered the Life Guard burger medium rare with Fries with an addition of onions on the burger. After 15 minutes I received the burger, I was surprised by the expedited process. My fries and burger was room temperature, the fries did not taste fresh, and my burger was not medium rare, in fact the guests burgers next to me were more medium rare than mine. As for the flavor it is not excellent despite the qualifier on the menu. Additionally, the guests burgers next to me was not cooked to their specifications [well done], in fact our server had to take the burger to the manager to show the manager. Lastly, another guest at our table ordered a side of Mac N Cheese only to find out that they did not receive it until after we were about finished. Ultimately, I felt that the cost of the food for the quality of the food was not equal. The quality of the food was lacking in comparison to the cost of the food. One last slightly non-related thing, as I was in a group more than 10 people a 20% gratuity was added. I do not believe it should be placed on the customers to fund the servers wages, that responsibility should rest on the employer. read more

Stand in your chair fun! LITERALLY! Great atmosphere with live entertainment every hour. The wagyu burger wasn't as good as I had hoped but the wife's pimento cheeseburger was amazing. Prices aren't cheap but they aren't too crazy considering everything is 20 a plate on most restaurants down here. Super fun place- the shrimp and grits was amazing, family loved the entertainment but review is based on our server Taylor. Apparently policy is on the weekend to automatically add 18% gratuity to the bill, but the server is to let the customer know gratuity has been added. Taylor DID NOT let us know the gratuity was added, and since I never expected an automatic gratuity, I did not look at the broken down check (bill) when it was presented to me. The total bill was $167 and I added $30 for the tip. After getting home I discovered the tip was already included so she got a $55 tip! It was a pricey evening out but after getting scammed on the gratuity I'm not sure I'll be going back. read more
