The appetizer included several dips and breads and pickled veggies--a huge portion which we shared. Meh. Very average. For starters, having never been to this place I was very worried that I was underdressed. This is not that kind of place. It's a "you just got done fishing after a long day and just hopped of your boat" kind of place. It's basically all outdoor seating with a lean to as a roof. The food is cooked in what appears to be a mobile food truck. The food wasn't awful...just very average. Salad entree' was $11 and then an extra $8 for chicken then if you want any extra salad dressing that's going to cost you an extra $0.50. Burger is $15 (decent sized patty but slapped between two slices of Texas toast) and only comes with a bag of chips...literally. Fries are an up charge. Service was minimal....and it wasn't even busy. Young man delivered our food and we asked for extra salad dressing...was told we would need to ask our server for that and he would do it for us except she looked busy at the moment. lol! I guess it's because he knew there was an up charge for extra and he didn't know how to put that on the ticket. Anyways, if you are looking for a mediocre meal that is overpriced for the quality and what you get, look no further than the Harbor Tavern. At least it had some pretty views. read more

Had a wonderful trip visiting Fort Walton Beach and Destin for a couple of days. Came upon this place after searching for good food on Yelp. All seating is outside and socially distanced. Our server was really nice and friendly, however we noticed that none of the workers were wearing masks. Our server did keep a good distance when communicating with us and we appreciated it. On the menu, my eyes went straight to the Mediterranean bowls. I couldn't decide between gyro or shrimp/mahi. Our server suggested the seafood. Absolutely delicious!!! The shrimp/mahi was seasoned to perfection and it came with rice and cucumber salad all topped with Tztaziki sauce. The bowl was packed with flavor and cooked well. We had a great day in Destin and the night ended perfectly dining here. I will definitely come back if I'm ever back in town. read more

This one was a bit of a let down starting with the seat yourself. It took a bit of time for them to realize that we were there but the place didn't seem that busy. Once we got service it wasn't too bad. I did have an unpleasant experience when it came to my order. I got the southern burger but it was missing the fried tomato. Considered a "hidden gem" by many, Harbor Tavern is one of those hidden in plain sight places. Once you've got there, you're in for a treat. You want to go into the parking lot AFTER Blue Mahoe to get down to the tavern if you're coming off Harbor Blvd. It has a dive/harbor bar vibe , but Elissa took fine care of us, and the service and playlist we walked into was a nice evening relaxed feel. Anyone willing to bring Al Green into the list has my backing. There's a ramp for those with mobility issues, but getting down to the dining area outside may present a challenge. Fortunately there is a ramp to access the indoor seating. We were able to access the outside area with just a few steps. The menu is varied, with a Mediterranean flair to some of the items including a righteous hummus appetizer with fresh warmed pitas and a small portion of salad that has a Mediterranean flavor and lightly dressed. If you're splitting this with others, there's enough for at least four. I also had their mojito. A little sweet and lightish on the rum, but plenty of mint, and close enough for government work.... I ordered the pork belly taco, my wife ordered the wings (plain) and the potstickers. My mother had the popcorn shrimp. The tacos had a little too much sauce (a sweet barbecue-ish flavor), but it's a nice slab of pork belly and just the right balance of crisp and chew. The ladies were impressed with the potato salad. The popcorn shrimp got a thumbs up, as did the wings and pot stickers. The menu has enough variety that just about anyone can find SOMETHING to eat. The food comes out quick and fresh and good. The staff is upbeat and willing to work with you on changes, and it's nice having the harbor action in the background. The prices are reasonable considering the quality and amount of food provided. The drinks are fine and the bar appeared well stocked. If you're up for a little adventure, or a bite to eat after a sunset tour, give Harbor Tavern a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Had a nice time. I was solo on this visit. Tried the blueberry lemonade. It was very flavorful, not very strong, but a good cocktail overall. For a bite to eat, I tried the wonton shrimp. It was excellent. Drew, my server was very attentive, and he was swamped. I never felt neglected at all. My visit was on a Saturday night and they were very busy, and it was also a holiday weekend. They had a few DJ's that were pretty good. The sound check was a bit too loud, but once they got everything tuned it, they turned the volume down a bit. It was a very eclectic mix of house, beach vibe, maybe some Jomiroquai beats thrown in. I'm gen x so in my early 50's and I thought it was cool. The crowd got a bit younger as the night went on. Went to Harbor Tavern for lunch during my last visit to Destin Beach after finding it on Yelp. We were in the mood for some light fare and cold drinks, and this place did not disappoint. Solid restaurant on the harbor. They have a decent beer selection and the good is well above average. They don't have bone in chicken wings anymore, but the "boneless wines" are made in house, this is not the type out of a bag. Sauce is very good. The southern burger, I think that is what it is called, with the fried green tomato and pimento cheese is a sold burger. Dogs are permitted, which is great. Note: Be mindful of where you are around the harbor, this is expensive property and I have seen cars towed if you leave the establishment where you park. read more

A lot of potential, but definitely not a 5 star visit for us. Good location if you're familiar with the area (down the hill to the left if you parked near Red Door). Chic décor and seemingly clean. More outdoor/patio seating than indoor, which is great for Florida eating/drinking. Also not so great when they don't have designated smoking areas outside of the restaurant area and you're trying to enjoy yourself while combating secondhand smoke. Our customer service was weird. Two bartenders and a few servers paying attention to a 10-top party but literally nobody else in sight. Waited 5-10 minutes just to get a menu and another 10 minutes before anyone checked in on us. That's pretty close to 'walkout' timeframe in my book, and if we didn't have luck flagging down the new bartender we would have been long gone. Successfully put in an order for some Oyster Tacos (came for this specifically), which were apparently not on the normal menu. They were quite tasty but the tortillas were very chewy/borderline raw. Got tired of trying to flag down some help for more drinks, questions about menu/happy hour/etc, so we called it a day and walked out much sooner than planned. read more

Food was terrific! We started with the Potstickers and Boneless Bites and they were wonderful. The potstickers were flavorful and paired nicely with the soy dipping sauce. Our boys loved the boneless bites. They did them plain but chose Sweet and Spicy Korean BBQ sauce and ranch to dip. Both were great sauces for the bites. For our entrees we had the Mahi & Shrimp Mediterranean Bowl and the Tavern Burger. The Mediterranean bowl is a must for seafood lovers. The fish was perfection and the accompaniments were fantastic.
