I recently passed through Rancho Cucamonga on my way back from Havasu to stop at the Bass Pro Shop. I spotted this place and was told the one in Brea was great and that I should check it out next time I'm up that way. Well I can't speak for any other location but this place was amazing! First off I must say I gave it a four because there is absolutely nowhere to sit inside when its crowded. I was not about to sit outside because that day was in the 90's with no shade. Everything else was perfect! Their classic pastrami sandwich was to die for. I had mine with rye bread, swiss cheese and all the fixings. I would have liked them to have sauerkraut but its all good. Their fries were pretty tasty as well. Restrooms were nice and clean but again it was only one stall and it was crowded that day. I will definitely be back to this place next time I'm around town. I went to The Hat in Rancho Cucamonga and the person that took my order would not listen to me and took an order that I did not want when I finally got what I wanted the beef dip was 1/4 made of fat and I wanted a chicken salad sandwich I could not get.. When I called to complain to the manager he could care less. I suggest going to the Deli on Foothill in Rancho Cucamonga because they understand English and the food is great. I don't know about you but I am tired of poor service and food, and getting treated like I do not matter. i have gone to the Hat for years but will never go again. I have been a big fan of the hat for a long time. I'm rating one of my favorite places to eat a big fat one! I would give this place a zero if i could. The customer service and communication of this place is a joke. Can't get your order right when you tell them what you want going to drive through. Than trying to explain to them they messed up and telling them want you want is like pulling teeth this is after you hand the receipt. Than the cashier stated want you wanted a pastrami hamburger and turkey burger that we should've rung you up a higher bill. Wow the f'in nerve to say that to customer who had to drive back to this place who doesn't live in rancho who they got the order wrong and than tell you we should've rung you higher bill! World famous pastrami? Seriously? I must've missed the boat on this place cause based on past reviews this place used to be awesome and cheap. This place was actually recommended to me by a coworker since I was passing by anyways. Walked in and the decor looked like it was straight from the 70s, which was OK by me as long as the food was great and cheap! Unfortunately I was disappointed by both. I ordered the pastrami burger which was 8 bucks just by itself! Since there aren't any orders of fries that are suitable for one person I just ordered the plain fries. In the end my total without a drink came close to 12 bucks. OK that's a lot for what amounts to basically a fast food restaurant but if the food's good then it's totally worth it. Well, it really wasn't. The burger was perfectly average and the "world famous" pastrami on top was really just a lot of fat. Maybe I'm partial to lean pastrami but this wasn't even in the realm of world famous. The fries were just large greasy messes. Really nothing to write home about. Overall I can't say it was terrible enough where I couldn't stomach the food but I definitely wouldn't recommend it either. Glad this place isn't in San Diego. 3 stars for a perfectly average overpriced meal. read more

I ordered a Tuna sandwich. They gave me very small slices of bread and put too much tuna inside. The tuna to bread slice ratio was way off and too much. Therefore, I decided to buy two more slices of bread so I can make another sandwich with the leftover tuna I took out of my overstuffed sandwich. However, they said that apparently they are not allowed to sell their bread slices because it is not part of their policy. They even said they will just give me crackers to eat with my leftover tuna!!! Thus, I was forced to buy another overstuffed tuna sandwich and when I was finished I was left with a whole plate of plain tuna to bring home!!!!! This is so ridiculous!!!! I even had to wait sooo long for that bread. Approximately 30 minutes!!!! Not knowing they would not give me something as simple as bread slices to accommodate my excess tuna leftovers from the overstuffed sandwich they served me!!!! read more

This place is always busy. I love the pastrami sandwich with an order of the gravy fries. The order of gravey fries can feed 5 grown adults. The portions are big so come hungry or be prepared to take most of your food home. read more

If you like pastrami and chili cheese fries this is the place to go! I LOVE THE HAT! It is the worst food you could possibly ever eat. It is artery clogging goodness at its best. They hands down have the best pastrami dips around. Their chili cheese fries can feed at least 4 people if not more. It sounds weird but ask for them with pickles, tomatoes, and onions. The Hat is SOOOoOOOoOOOOOoooo good, but at the same time SooOOOoOOOOoOOo bad for you!! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the chili cheese fries here. It's HUGE, CHEESY, WARM, and definitely hits the spot. They give generous portions of everything. The bf always gets the Pastrami Burger and let me tell you that thing is loaded with lots and lots of pastrami, the burger is sometimes soOOooo big that he can't even get the whole burger in his mouth. The food here gets messy especially the burger because the pastrami starts oozing out of the burger because it's soooOOOoo loaded. Once in a full moon, the bf is able to finish the burger, but on most occasions he's unable to. I wouldn't suggest eating here on a weekly basis, but rather every month or so even though I know it's going to be hard to resist the scrumptious artery clogging madness The Hat serves up! I used to go to the hat a lot and its Pretty good, but if you want the best pastrami around, you should go to Corner Deli near Ontario Mills. They give you a half pound of pastrami and You can have it "Stuffed" with fries and slaw. Sooo good! read more

I was so excited to go to The Hat.. having not been there. We walked in and it was super busy!! I was starving! I could smell the chili right away and knew I wanted chiili fries. We go up to order and the cashier , which looked like a manager or perhaps looked very grumpy. He was not friendly at ALL! We asked him about the pastrami dip and he looked at us like we were idiots. You would think that if he knew that we looked like we had never been there before that he'd be more friendly and tell us about the menu first.. He did not.. So we ordered 2 of the pastrami and we ordered a chili frie and 2 reg fries. We got our son the bbq roast beef sandwhich also.. We got our food and the chili fries was enough to feed 4 people.. He did not tell us that it was that big. The pastrami was good size. Overall the pastrami was good but the bread that it was on was not. I was very excited to eat here and unfortunately It did not hit the spot.. and the rude service made it even worse. Maybe I'll go back.. SOOOO yummy! I use to visit the Montclair location whenever we were in the area, so I was so excited when they opened the Rancho Cucamonga location. The only thing I ever eat there is the Pastrami and it is amazingly good! The chili cheese fries are also a must! Love their pastrami burgers. Pricer than most places, but their food portions are enormous. Which I guess can be bad for some people.

such an amazing deal! There is so much pastrami that I could of made another sandwich with what had fallen out of it! I tackled this monster all by myself and I was in a pleasurable meat coma once I finished! (It will be wiser to split it though, one should not drive under the influence of a meat coma) One of the few excellent places to get a killer pastrami sanwhich. The meat is so tender and moist.
