I love this place. Their pastrami burger is amazing. It's juicy and load with pastrami. I also love their chili cheese fries. It was a large portion, best for two people. The place is clean and nicely decorated. There was a lot people when I went but I didn't have trouble finding a place to sit. Another thing that I liked was that they had Orange Bang. These are rare fountain drinks for a restaurant to have and The Hat has them. I liked the service aswell. They were very nice and fast in making the food. Overall I love this place. My wife loves the sandwiches here, so we stopped by the drive-thru last night to pick up dinner. We placed our order, only to be told that "the computers are going slow" and that they weren't taking credit cards that day. They then asked us if we wanted to pay in cash. We didn't have cash, so told them no, to which they responded "Okay" and the conversation was over. The only problem was that we were locked in to the drive-thru line with 3 cars behind us and no way out. We then spent an additional 25 minutes waiting in a line that we couldn't get food in. Sure enough, when we got to the window, they had cancelled our order, and after expressing our distress with not being told before we ordered that we couldn't use a credit card (they had signs posted in 3 different spots on the drive-thru menu showing which credit cards they accepted) the worker at the window simply gave us a blank stare and responded "Okay." No apology. No coupon to use at our next purchase. Nothing. While the food is pretty good, it does not make up for the terrible customer service. Trust me when I say I will not be returning here. read more

They're famous for their Pastrami Dip and after one taste you'll know why. It's thinly sliced moist and salty pastrami with just enough mustard and pickles. I like to add horseradish to mine. I've tried a bunch of other stuff from here but those two would have to be the guarantee satisfaction items. The past few times I've come here I'd have to tell my friend or my girlfriend to go down and order the food because I have the hardest time finding parking but for some reason whenever my friend drives he gets parking with ease so i'd have to say parking here is hit or miss. read more

Do not go through the drive thru ever. I dont know if the woman running the front window was having a bad day, but if she was she did NOT need to take her anger out on me and act like a complete bitch to me when I did nothing wrong. I had 2 separate orders and when I was paying for the first one I said that I had another order and she snapped at me with attitude about how "i was confusing her" but with such a nasty tone and attitude with it and then proceeded to argue with me about it. I was so taken aback because I was not expecting her to respond like that. I ended up canceling my 2nd order and would have canceled my first order if I didnt pay for it already, I should have asked for my money back but I was too shaken up with anger to respond to her bitter ignorance anymore than I had to. If this is the company and the employees this establishment likes to hold then I will be telling people to eat elsewhere unless they want to be demeaned and be talked to like your wasting/interrupting their time. The pastrami was delicious and plentiful. I think more of it fell of the sandwich than stayed in! Lol. I had mine dipped which is the way to go with these sandwiches. My daughter had it dry and my son had a cheeseburger. They both also loved the food! I got fries but didn't realize they'd be FILLING a brown sack with fries. The Hat has theee best pastrami sandwich and chilli cheese fries that i've ever had in the inland empire. For $6.99 you get a pastrami sandwich known as the "pastrami dip" at The Hat, with so much pastrami I can barely fit the sandwich in my mouth and I always have to take the other half home cause one half is enough to make me full. It's definitely worth the price. Same goes for the chilli cheese fries. They put in so much I have a hard time finishing half, so I would suggest sharing it between 2-4 people (it's more then enough, trust me). It definitely hits the spot. I like mine with chilli of course, cheese, and onions! There are plenty of other dishes on the menu like burgers, fries, onion rings, turkey/tuna sandwiches, etc. etc. I have tasted the burger as well as their tuna sandwich and they're just average. Nothing too special about those. I primarily come here for the pastrami dip. It's what their famous for after all. It does get pretty greasy and I always come out feeling like i've gained 59473543 lbs after one visit. I try to come here only once in awhile because I do care about the health of my heart. lol. It's definitely a nice treat to have once in awhile. I usually go to this location or the one in Brea and either one is always packed no matter what time of the day I go! Service is okay. After reading all the hype about thier roast beef sandwhiches, one night my hubby and I decided to try it. We ended up splitting the regular roast beef snadwhich, some chilly cheese fries and two frothie drinks. I was dissapointed that the pina colada and organge cream came from a fountain and were not smoothies at al but just regular drinks with ice. The sandwhich seemed a bit too over stuffed with me but not much flavor there as they had no sauce or lettuce or tomatoes with it. It's OK if you're just into meat but I'm all about the balance and flavors. The fries were HUGE; probably 6 people could eat those or 4 hungry ones. I felt the cheese wasnt melted enough and it was just over the top fattening. I wanted to like this place but unless you don't care about counting calories or just like to eat your meat plain, I wouldn't recommend coming here more than once.. just to say you tried it. read more

I have been to the Hat several times over the years. They have another location in Upland as well as the original in Alhambra and another in Glendora. They are all the same as far as menu's go and quality. I remember hitting this place late at night after clubbing years ago. Back then I was much younger and certainly had a higher metabolism. In those days I used to order a full pastrami sandwich and an order of chili fries with a drink. Even back then when I ate a lot more than I do now, I was never able to completely finish off the fries. They go overboard on the amounts they serve. You can easily make 2 pastrami sandwiches with the amount of pastrami they pile on these bad boys. That is no exaggeration folks I am dead serious. It is that much meat. The chili fries are loaded with chili. You can order it with cheese and onions on top, but i do not do that. When i went yesterday, I had an order of onion rings which were crispy and delicious. These are also over the top in volume. Two people can easily share a pastrami and fries or onion rings. For that reason, I give it 5 stars, as it is a good value when you share. read more

Really disappointed! Pastrami is good food it takes dedication to screw it up. We ordered to go so had no plate or utensils to facilitate eating the sandwiches. My best guess is that some idiot microwaved the rolls to destroy their texture and cohesion. When organizing for a bite it was necessary to move a chunk of tough bread over the target and gnaw it off with the meat which was less chewy than the roll. We stopped at WinCo and purchased sandwich rolls which enabled us to consume our lunches without too much additional fuss. We have enjoyed the Hat for more than 50 years and are disappointed to have to remove them from our coterie of places to look forward to revisiting. read more

I always enjoy the hat and their food especially when they are open so late. But it is very frustrating and annoying when you order what you want (pastrami chili cheese fries), it is repeated back to you on the speaker and when you drive up to pay it is repeated back to you again, but when you receive it the order is wrong (regular chili cheese fries)........how does this happen??? It was said over and over by the same person, but yet they fail to get the order right. On top of that when it is late night it is not nearly as busy as normal dinner time hours. Moving away from this place was the best thing I could have ever done for my waistline. No Pastrami Sandwich has EVER been even slightly comparable to the untouchable Pastrami Dip served here. Yes it's fatty and greasy...it's a Pastrami Sandwich!! When I'm feeling extra adventurous, I order the large and delicious Chili Cheese Fries. There is so much meat in the sandwich, that I actually top the fries with it. Talk about gluttony. When I lived nearby, I would eat here once a week. Now that I'm not so close, the Brea location is the spot I go to, and that's only about once every few months...so of course I go big. Chili Cheese Pastrami Fries anyone?? There is actually so much food, the hubby and I will split one sandwich and the fries, and be more than satisfied. I recently passed through Rancho Cucamonga on my way back from Havasu to stop at the Bass Pro Shop. I spotted this place and was told the one in Brea was great and that I should check it out next time I'm up that way. Well I can't speak for any other location but this place was amazing! First off I must say I gave it a four because there is absolutely nowhere to sit inside when its crowded. I was not about to sit outside because that day was in the 90's with no shade. Everything else was perfect! Their classic pastrami sandwich was to die for. I had mine with rye bread, swiss cheese and all the fixings. I would have liked them to have sauerkraut but its all good. Their fries were pretty tasty as well. Restrooms were nice and clean but again it was only one stall and it was crowded that day. I will definitely be back to this place next time I'm around town. Even thinking about the Temecula location. read more
