Found a nice hidden gem. Buddy and I had Sunday brunch yesterday. $29 for 3 courses. The staff were amazing. Joseph, then Steve, took great care of us. Very attentive without being intrusive at all. Helped w my need for meatless and got it done. Great work. Sorry I didn't take pics (wasn't even thinking about it), but the food was delicious. Fresh chips, great salsa. Ask for a bit of delicious bean dip and also for some spicy hot habanero sauce. I had corn empanadas -wow. Also had the fajitas and got beans instead of animal protein. Veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. Lime rice was tasty AF, and the black beans had flavor and great texture. It was waaaaaay more food than I could even attempt- especially after gorging on the chips. My friend had shrimp Ceasar salad, rice and beans, and something else that looked kinda like a taquito. ‍. Sunday lunch - food was good But what's wrong with the guy at the reception?? We arrived at 11:35am with no reservation. Plenty of empty seats everywhere, but the guy said "we're fully booked today, only have bar now". Honestly I hate to do this as I have spoken highly about this establishemt not only to my peers but also my lyft passengers. I'll start of with portions. My first visit they gave us big portions. The 2nd visit changed the type of meat and smaller portion. The third visit they gave me something cheap looking like some oddly shaped different cut meat. Half the sized portion of my second visit. I was ok with it as restaurants budget and change things but this was unacceptable as it was the same price and barely cooked. I honestly felt bad for the waiter he was nice and did a great job although he was swamped with tables. My problem is the price.. The bill said 107. I looked at my bank statement and it said 124 before tip. So I was confused how I got charged more. I might call them and dispute my last visit to see if I can get a refund. My favorite dinner spot in LA! It is literally hidden away on Rodeo Drive. Went here for dinner solo on a business trip after hearing good things. The atmosphere is really cool; a definite Beverly Hills vibe. The chips and salsa are next level. Definitely get those when the server offers. The shrimp cocktail is one of the best I've ever had; it ranks up there with St Elmo in Indianapolis. It's a must try for an appetizer. The filet was great, but unfortunately I was too full from the chips and salsa to finish it. The bartenders were awesome, the drinks were great, food was really good, and the atmosphere is perfect for Rodeo Drive. The worst service I've experienced in LA. Never going back again. We sat down and ordered two drinks while waiting for our friends. We waited for 20 mins and the drinks never came so we asked the server if he could check on our drinks coz it has been a while. We placed the order with a different server and this person came back with his machine and yelling at us and saying "Your order only were placed 5 mins ago, so it has not been 20 mins. So you have to wait because it's busy and it's normal to wait for 20 mins for your drinks." Basically giving us attitude about us being "wrong" and he was SO rude about it, we haven't even got the chance to talk to him and he just walked out on us. The truth was we did order 20 mins ago with a different serve and maybe he forgot to put it in the system. But either way you should not talk to your customers like that and treat them like criminals. I still tipped him for his service but I wish I would went to talk to the manager about that. There was three of us we started out with great chips and a decent salsa, then empanadas they were quite good. The guacamole good, but a very small portion. Then the entrees, fish tacos, short rib enchiladas. The fish tacos were a do it yourself, large portion of crispy fish, very good. The enchiladas were Tasty, but soggy both orders came with rice and beans good again but not great. The desserts flan, churros and pink champagne sorbet we agreed was the best. The churros were good, but the flan only had a smear of the usually caramel covered one we were all used to. The restaurant was very nice inside and out on the patio where we sat . I'm totally old school and I'm always surprised when the food server refers to a table of men & women "Hi GUYs". Our food server obviously has not been trained to professionally interact with clientele. What ever happened to the custom of handing the menu first to women? Or asking for their drink/food order first? Our food server seemed to ignore me. (I thought I looked nice ) I'm surprised that at a pricy restaurant that our food server was ill mannered. Even at the conclusion of our meal -the food was so disappointing & not at all authentic Mexican cuisine-- the food server had to pick up every plate, basket, glass, water can, utensils in a very disruptive manner. I ordered the $35 Eggs Benedict and the ham was overcooked I could barely chew it. I told the server and he had another one made. The next one came out and the biscuit or piece of bread it was on was so hard I couldn't even cut through it. I let the server know about that and guess what?! They still charged me full price! For entrees, the baja fish tacos were the best. The fried fish was just so good! For desserts, I liked all of them a lot! The flan has that lime kick to it which was very new to me but I really loved it! The churro chocolate was thick! and the pink champagne sorbet was delicious! Also! Their free chips and salsa are probably my favorite chips and salsa ever! They taste different, its just so good!
