I'm giving the Hideway 5 stars because it is 5 stars in my book....why? because I can walk there! No DUIs for me! This place is a total dive bar, it's really gross. I only go when my friend comes into town because she knows everyone there. Everytime we go there is a fight, usually some old chick beating on her man for one reason or another. I suggest you sit with your back to the wall and throw back shots because you need to sterilize your system in case you need to use the bathroom. Us girls go in pairs because there is a hole in the second bathroom door, so you have to hover over the seat while also pinning the side of your foot over the hole to (1) cover the hole (2) keep people from walking in because there is also no lock. If you get home without contracting "the hep" congratulations, you just survived the Hideaway. =) read more

I came in for a team day with my Co-Workers and yes I was the only female in the group. My co-worker wanted a drink and The Bartender Courtney asked him, "Who is fucking her tonight?". It was extremely rude and disrespectful. Instead of getting to know us, she immediately assumed I'm some kind of hooker or something. I have been a bartender before and this is not anything close to being a good customer service. Her attitude towards my co-workers was rude and disrespectful. After many time my co-worker told her we are co-workers, and that nobody is fucking tonight, we felt uncomfortable. She was killing our vibes so we left. It was such a nice bar, but a nice bar with shitty Courtney Bartender wouldn't last long. I'm a businesswoman and this is an employee that I would never hire. My employees will never come back here again. I'm not surprised that there's so much bad review about her in the past. read more

Like this place a lot Its very homey Lots and lots of parking space, just watch for the drive way its hidden and theres a bit of an incline Once you walk in its a surprise how small the actual bar area is The beer selection isn't the greatest but the people are great They have pool and darts (like any typical bar does) THE OUTSIDE SEATING AREA IS MY FAVORITE!!! This is the worst bar on the planet. I stopped by for a drink and couldn't believe my eyes. Unless you are a regular, you are NOT welcome here. The few people that were there were falling down drunk. A sloppy dark hair girl was so wasted she could barely stay on her stool. The bartenders continued to serve her alcohol when she clearly needed water and a ride home. Good thing her boyfriend was there, who was just as wasted, to drive her home. When I commented to the bartender that he should not be driving, she shrugged and said they were there almost every night. That's great. Way to look out for your regulars. EWW EWWW EWWW EWW is all I have to say! I was dragged there one night by some friends and honestly this place is disgusting! The night crowd is a young crowd, but it's made up of bros and bro-hoes. From what I hear, everyone who goes there is a regular...but I'm not sure why. I know it's a dive bar but damn! I was afraid someone would hit me on the back of the head with a bottle at any minute. ive been coming here for about 3 years. the last night i went there they had a live band.. it was crazy. the bartender walked out & flipped everyone off. nobody made drinks until the owner went behind the bar.. who was already drunk. & clearly was NOT a bartender.. jus a consumer of alcohol. it went downhill pretty fast that night. i havnt went back which is sad. this was where everyone in my family celebrated their 21st birthday. 4-11-16 i am doing an update because i gave this place a second chance which was a huge mistake. we walked in and there was a bunch of guys and one girl.. which was our bartender. she was already drunk at 7pm on a Saturday night. when she made our Washington apple shots.. it was disgusting. i sadly write this post as i plan to never give them another chance again. staff must really enjoy working there.. i would love to be at work drunk.. where do i apply?! read more

Typical dive bar. Didn't have henny, so i was immediately turned off. Does have a pool table in the back which is cool. Unfortunately I had an experience that made me feel my black friend wasn't welcomed. Haven't returned since. Hopefully the red necky feel and all the bro hos have simmered down. read more

After stopping by the Snug Harbor and seeing how crowded it was on a Friday night (ridiculous for that place), we decided to go to the Hideaway. My friend has been there many times but it was my first time. We walked in and there was a total of 8 people between the pool table and the bar. It was the Hawaiian theme night. Once we sat down at the bar, the bartender was very friendly. She told us about all the specials and gave us each a lei. The jukebox was playing a mix of currently popular songs, country, and those oldies but goodies. Because we like all of that, we minded our own business and just sang along with the music and made conversation amongst ourselves. I eventually had to pee and went off to the bathroom. O so nasty. I like dive bars so I have experienced a lot of nasty bathrooms but this one takes the cake. I suggest peeing before you get there and not peeing til you leave. It was probably more sanitary to pee outside than inside. Now as to the people, its definitely the bros and bro-hoe's discussed in other reviews of this place. While I ignored them, they definitely run that place and think that they are hot as shit. I think people forgot to mention that the 909 should stay in the 909. However, anyone we came into contact with were friendly. I recommend this place if you like dive bars, you live close, you want a cheap strong drink and you arent scared of bros. i ended up accompanying my buddy to make some glassware purchases at the store next door on a sunday afternoon. as all shopping excursions should ideally end, we decided to step in to replenish our souls. snuggly trimmed in wood walls and adorned with vintage beer-related memorabilia, it's a dive bar in all its glory. the service was adequate, seeing as how we requested beers and seconds later the beer was flowing. in typical dive bar fashion, the bar sported a couple plastic dart machines and a juke box to those musically inclined. it also seems that the bar has the usual regulars. although we didn't talk to any of them, they seemed friendly enough, allowing us to toss a few back in their home away from home. there it is, the quick and dirty lowdown. for some odd reason, though, i feel like i'm not doing this bar any justice. but hey, a dive bar is a dive bar is a dive bar. it's the atmosphere itself that defines a dive. unfortunately, you have to go there to experience the atmosphere itself. read more

The Hideaway is a cool spot to stop by and have a drink in a chill environment. If you're looking for a super upscale and posh experience, you'll be disappointed. If you just want to hang out and have a drink in a non-pretentious environment for a reasonable price, you'll dig it. The owner Larry is super cool, and the bartender Nicole is easy on the eyes and friendly. The crowd is actually pretty diverse, and if there's a local vibe, I didn't feel unwelcome. A bar that seems to attract many Trump supporters and some people who don't seem to be very tolerant of other people who's skin is not white . I don't mind people sharing their political beliefs at all but it just really bothers me when ignorant people begin to insult others due to the color of their skin or cultural heritage . Who knew racism would be well and alive in this area in 2019. Just get ready to see many people wearing MAGA hats and hearing pretty rude things if you're not white or white passing or " white washed " . My friends and I were just sitting when some women went up to my friends who are Latin and began to say some pretty rude things about their culture so I had to step in . I thought the bar tender would tell the women to please stop or leave but she didn't she was smiling at the entire situation. This place is hidden away in a residential neighborhood. Which is totally great if your boyfriend lives in the neighborhood because then you can just walk instead of risking a DUI. The staff is friendly and the drinks are pretty cheap. The crowd that you may find here varies so much that you never really know what you're going to get. The place itself is pretty small and its hard to find a place to sit on a weekend evening, but aside from that.. I'd recommend it as a nice weeknight spot to stop and have a few drinks. read more

Hideaway is one of the best dive bars in Lakewood, in my opinion. Weekends obviously get more busy and loud, weekdays are pretty laid back. On busy nights it can be hard to get a table, but it generally is a chill dive bar. The drinks are cheap, they pour heavy and the bartenders are nice. The jukebox has a great selection. They have darts as well as two pool tables in the back. Something completely random that I like that surprisingly not all bars have is hooks for your purses at the bar. read more

A friend brought me to this rotting old bar and we had a great time! This dive bar came equip with cheap drinks and cheap women. The bartender that served us..some Asian chick with braces wasn't cute, and seemed to be PMSing the whole night- which wasn't a problem because after a few short conversations with her I knew she would probably be at that bar as a bar wench for the rest of her life. Besides the bar hag the other people there made the rest of the night worth it. It was a great way to start the week. If you wanna experience racism first hand go to this bar and ask for Courtney. I went with a group of friends just for some beers. From the moment I walked in I was receiving unwelcoming looks from all around the room (I was the only black guy in my group of friends). I payed it no mind and we proceeded to sit at a table from across the bar. Within 30 seconds of me sitting down, Courtney, the bar tender, starts slamming on the bar and begins yelling at me from across the room saying "YOU GET OVER HERE NOW!!"Mind you, I haven't even been in the place for over a minute. So I walked over to the bar very confused. She starts screaming at me and accuses me of smoking in the bar. When I tried telling her that I wasn't smoking she tried to tell me "I SAW YOU SMOKING WITH MY OWN EYES"............I DON'T EVEN SMOKE!!! Even after finding out I was not smoking she did not even have the decency to apologize. I have never in my life experience worse service. She blatantly lied just to find an excuse to kick me out of the bar. Do yourself a favor and stay away form this place. It was me and my friend's first time ever coming into this bar and let me tell you, I was blown away of how good the service was. The bartender Courtney was nice and right when we walked in she introduced herself and I thought that was really awesome. I've never met a bartender that introduces themselves and her introducing herself made us feel so welcomed. This place has a hometown feel to it.
