This is a mixed review. I bought a small propane grill for my dad in January. It was a Megamaster 2 burner grill, basic model. We opted for assembling ourselves and it was very difficult to put together. I have been assembling various grills over the years but never experinced something so difficult. When it came time to start it it wouldn't light. We tried various things and nothing. Tried to get product help no joy, AI or just generic internet questions and answers. Finally got it to light off with a match and then on its own but something was wrong. It just didn't develop heat. After a month I decided to buy another one and return the one we had bought. I asked for it to be assembled. No problems. Get a notification on Monday it was ready. Go in Monday and it was not assembled. The assembler only comes in on Thursdays. Wish they had told me. They said they had the wrong phone number but it was right on my account. Anyways I didn't want to go through the pain of putting it together so I said fine, I will get it Thursday or Friday. I call Wednesday, very hard to get anyone in the store, kept kicking me to AI and then to a person in a call center. After several attempts the call center got me to the store. The woman there explained that it would be assembled by close of business Thursday. I got a message today (Friday) that the grill was ready. I drove up only to find out it wasn't assembled. The guy took the week off and wouldn't be back until next Wednesday. I was fuming by this point. I kept apologizing to the people at customer service because it wasn't there fault but I was mad. I finally said screw it give me my money back. I then went to Lowe's and picked up a Charbroil 4 burner grill already assembled for $130 more then I paid for the Megamaster. But I knew Charbroil was a good quality grill since I have owned two over 18 years. It lit right up and was at 500F in under 10 minutes. Right choice. I took the first Megamaster back to Home Depot and the promptly refunded my purchase. I want to say the miscommunication was bad. The product was low quality and I would recommend spending the extra funds on a Charbroil or other quality grill. You get what you pay for. Finally I have to credit the Germantown Home Depot Employees I dealt with. Everyone of them was courteous, kind and professional. They tried the best they could but the system failed them. At least Home Depot can be proud they represent them. They do have to figure out a better way of communication when a service was involved. So after going to a local nursery and looking at Christmas trees, attempting to shop local for the holiday... I just could not stomach paying that much of a premium for a local vendor. I'm 100% willing to chip in a bit extra to buy local. But this nursery, about 8 minutes away from Home Depot, was almost twice the price for a tree that was 2 feet shorter. Some of the cheapest trees there were 80 dollars, and they were a bit rough off. Most of the trees we're 109 and up. So I made my way over to this Home Depot and found a tree that's about 6.5 feet for about 60 bucks. I'm sorry local nursery. Like, I said- I'd be fine with a bit of a mark up... but not a 100 percent markup for a shorter tree. I'm sorry, I just can't stomach that ;/ In any event, I ran into this place and the guy in the nursery was SO helpful. He asked me a bunch of questions about the tree I wanted. I'm always a little bit lost when shopping for trees. Do I feel confident that I know the difference between a fraser fir, balsam fir, noble fir - absolutely not. Do I know the difference between those and a white pine... yes. I know A LITTLE something lol. Just not a lot of something. So the super nice guy took down some trees for me, cut off the netting and shook them out just so I could see all the branches. He was as nice as could be. Then, the young gentleman who attached the tree to the top of my car was also as pleasant as pie. Is that even a saying? It should be if it isn't one. He was a super nice guy who I found out has worked at Home Depot for 5 years now, and he's planning on going into the Air Force soon enough. He did a solid job of attaching my tree to my car roof, and he was even hesitant to accept a tip when I offered it. I did insist that he took it. All in all, a solid wonderful experience at Home Depot in Germantown getting a tree. It was secure as could be on the way home and I love how it looks all trimmed up :) read more

The Germantown, Md Home Depot location is my favorite stop for Home Improvement/DIY products and service. I treat the store's personnel with respect and it in turn returns the love. My Honey-Do Project the last week or so has been the painting/sealing of a recently installed new concrete walkway. I needed a color as close to natural gray. "NYRI" (remember her name) was the HD Paint Consultant who tended to me. She exuded confidence, competence, listening skills, trustworthiness and expertise! She helped me chose the correct Behr exterior concrete paint and color. She also suggested decorative chips that my wife truly loves! NYRI has these uncanny skills to handle multiple customers ALL attentively and with loving care. "NYRI" has replaced Big John ("Reggie?) as my favorite HD Paint Expert. However, NYRI and John make for a great Paint Dept. tandem for my painting needs. I am a happy Home Depot customer! read more

Bad product and bad delivery. I Ordered Plywood and delivery to my house since I didn't have a way to get it home. Delivery person left 2 sheets of plywood in my muddy flower bed leaning up against the wall. One of the sheets of plywood had stains and glue on it and is not usable. This review is for the Curbside Pickup only. With more snow coming, we needed 2 new shovels. I went online and saw they had a few dozen in stock. With COVID, I'm only doing drive through or curbside shopping. They showed they have a curbside pickup option. I paid for the 2 shovels, and selected Curbside Pickup. I got an order number and an email, saying I would be notified when my order was ready. I was surprised to see it was ready for pickup in less than an hour. I usually expect at least 2 hours on most orders like this and it said they had unusually high demand and it may take longer. I headed over to Home Depot. They have about 8-10 Curbside pickup spots, on the left side of the parking lot, by the nursery. You pick a spot and then click on the link in your email. From there, you put in the spot number and your car make/color. My order was in my car in under 5 minutes. The service person was super pleasant and put the shovels in our car. Totally contactless. I would totally use their curbside pickup again. There also wasn't any mark up on the items or a service fee for using the service. Highly Recommend. read more

A serious shoutout to an awesome dude in the tools department, who went way and beyond trying to help me find a particular tool. I was looking for a Milwaukee laser level, app showed in-stock, but wasn't on the shelf. He spent nearly half an hour looking thru stock up on high shelves..unfortunately didn't find it, but he certainly tried. Like people have "their" grocery store, this's my Home Depot; been going here for many years.. I know exactly where everything is. Always seems clean, bright, and organized (as much as a HD can be:)..unlike the cramped Shady Grove location with the nasty Costco-like parking lot. As far as customer service..all I ever need is occasional help finding something, doing a return, or picking up special orders..and their staff has always been super helpful. I'm a 57yr old pro (but don't have a HD Pro account..yet). I'm not DIY'er, and never need 'how-to' advice or info on products..any more than I'd expect people at a grocery store to teach me how to cook. I visited the Home Depot this past Saturday. There was a Caucasian male who appeared to be in his early to late 30s who was working in the appliance department. After circling the store a few times and looking up and down the aisle for an item but couldn't find it. While he was talking with an older Caucasian couple, I gently said "Excuse me sir and looked at the customers as well, can you tell me where the aluminum backsplashes are located? He barked at me, " I'm working with this customer right now. When I'm done, I can help you. He gave me this evil look, then looked back at the couple and said sorry about that as if I had committed a crime for asking a question. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Which is ironic, because this Home Depot seems to delight in wasting YOUR time! Selected from several a potted palm. Also wanted to buy a small potted plant. Picked up the hefty plant and tried to make my way toward a register while struggling. A frail and thin young employee was walking by so I asked for his assistance. He seemed annoyed to have to help. I wanted to go to the nearest register, but they only accept cards and all I had was cash on me. So I had to get in line. Get to the register and there is no price tag. So I wait and wait while the cashier calls another employee who scowled at me and had a nasty attitude. Turns out the plant I wanted was supposedly $65 when all the surrounding palms were $25! Total scam. Looks like they were hoping I was a typical distracted MoCo customer who hands over their card while they are on the phone and never notices the price switch! An associate will call to inform you that the delivery will take place. The window of time 0600-2000 will come and go. At 2015 you will receive an email saying the item(s) will be delivered the next day. Same routine the next day, NO DELIVERY. Home Depot canceled a large delivery with no notice, citing "over capacity." They rescheduled for two days later, not the next day. Do they own a calculator? That was bad enough, but when I attempted to call customer service, I was forced to listen to some automated sales pitch about a medical alert device. There was no option to get around the pitch. Memo to Home Depot: When people have to call customer service, probably half of us are angry already, and it was the difficulty getting through that prompted this one-star review. I went to this store in person and asked to speak to someone in Management, I'd lost my credit card the day before and this was the last store I shopped at. I wanted a name and face of someone in management to make sure to please double check, an associate said they did not have the card but I wanted management to be aware. No management would see or talk with me, the clerks all wanted to know wby I wanted management and I told them. So they told me management was on break and I should try waiting 10-15 minutes.... Terrible management when not a single one of them will take the time to speak to a regular customer with a serious concern. I never did get to speak to management, so I told the clerk to inform management they should check yelp for an honest review of their performance and customer service. read more

I wanted to get the front exterior and stormwater doors replaced. I went to the Germantown, MD, store on March 03, 2024, and put in a deposit for measurement at 2:47 pm. I had concerns with Mr. Edwards, who processed my order because he needed better training or was more focused on chatting with another associate, as the process took several attempts to get my information into the system. Once we got through that hurdle, Mr. Edwards explained that someone would call to schedule a measurement, and once HD had all the information from the contractor, Mr. Edward would reach out to me. HD contacted me on March 05, 2024, to schedule the measurement (I missed the initial call, they left a VM and I reached out and scheduled time/date for measurements). The contractor came on March 20, measured everything, and briefly explained what needed to be done. He also mentioned that Home Depot should get back to me on 3/22/2024 and call HD in a few business days if I still need to hear back. On March 29, 2023, I got a missed call from 301-515-7944 @ 4:32 pm; my phone automatically silenced that call, given the volume of junk calls I have been receiving, but leaves no voicemail. I reached out to the HD Germantown, MD, store because I haven't heard anything back regarding the doors, and I was told the order was canceled due to "lack of communication." This has to be the most horrendous accusation HD can hurl at one of its customers. When I tried to find out why it was canceled, as nobody attempted to reach out to me except for one missed call, I was hung up three times. Then, I spoke with a supervisor, Mr. Jordan, on April 01. Mr. Jordon told me this was an easy fix as Home Depot could refund the money (the initial $40 for measurement charges) if I wanted, as the initial order is canceled, and if I do decide to go with Home Depot, then I need to start the process again. I am amazed at the sheer unprofessionalism of this store and how it operates. Mr. Edwards from HD called me once, never left a voicemail, and canceled my order for "lack of communication," then, when I attempted to get more information, every obnoxious associate kept hanging up. I have never been treated that way by your neighborhood Home Deport store. It was a full-on accusation, blaming the customer for Home Depot's lack of professionalism and failure. I ordered a waxless ring for my toilet to pick up curbside. When I received the package from the associate, the box was torn, and when I opened it up some parts (namely the nuts and bolts needed to secure the piece) were missing. My best guess is this was a returned product that they just patched together and decided to sell on to the first sucker they could. I emailed store manager Joseph Antwi about it. His response "Mr W, I am really sorry about your shopping experience, we are going refund the purchase and address this concern with our associates. Thank you Sounds fair enough, but two weeks later and no refund. I'm not even sure that anything was ever done other than the attitude that "we'll just forget this customer's satisfaction and move on, we've got enough customers." Well, I doubt I will ever return here now. It's not the first time I've had an issue with this store but it is the first time I was annoyed enough to give them a bad review online. I am currently in the market for an egress window in my basement. I go to the windows department only to see a small crowd with no one attending. Every time I ask somebody they tell me it's not their department so I decide to go to the pro desk at the front of the store. I just want to say that STEVE was AMAZING! well I think his name is Steve it was on his apron lol. It was the older gentleman that was in the kitchen appliances area. My mother and I were looking for a new fridge and let me just say that Steve was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He helped us through the entire process, told us about different brands, and gave his input on what he thinks is best based on our ideal criteria of what refrigerator we most wanted. The Home Depot has everything. The probably is always finding it. So you ask a person standing in a Home Depot apron. They don't know, they send you to the other end of the store. Then the person on that end sends you to the middle. Finally you decide to figure out the closest thing to what you are looking for and you go to that aisle. You start at one end and you finally find what you are looking for. 1. They have everything. 2. The people aren't always that friendly at the store. At least the one in Germantown, well the one in the Kentlands isn't a whole lot better. Overall a couple of smiles, how can I help you and what are you looking fors would help. How about a Home Depot application that takes what you need (from the web site) and then pushes that information to your phone and takes you right to it in the store! She didn't give me a suggestion to replace the product. There were a hilarious line and I did not want to go back to line after getting my product with a price tag. Never made any huge purchases from them, it's cool that they offer 10% for military discount which covers the state tax. Hard to say if the store is clean. All looks the same to me. Stopping at the store quickly made me realize why I typically shop at the store in Frederick. The employees are rude, I have no idea what they're selling and always act like they're busy when you try to ask them for help. I went to the tool department to ask a guy where the taps were and he had no idea what they were. Maybe I'm crazy but I would expect the guy working in the tool department would know what they had. Curbside delivery is a mess. No one answers the phone and the staff working are understaffed. Only by talking to someone was any progress initiated, but with the same endless wait. After trying to get the items that we were told were ready for pickup we are considering leaving and canceling the order after waiting over an hour. There are at least 15 customers in the same situation as us and many more have left and said forget it, I don't need it. Rented a Carpet Cleaner. If they had provided better customer service when I picked it up I would rate this 5 stars. I had to wait close to 10 minutes to pick it up even though one customer service person sat there in case someone with an online order showed up. The other person was busy trying to help one customer, at the same time around 6 or more employees were hanging around then they all took return carts out. Finally one of them asked if they could help so they filled out everything they were capable of so the one customer service person that was able to help me (again the other one did not have any online orders so she walked away at this point) could complete the rental transaction The machine worked great! read more

I had a very horrible experience with Home Depot in Germantown. I was planning to install hardwood floors in my home. I paid everything upfront. It took a month to receive the wood and schedule an appointment. After the installers came, they noticed that the wood was damaged and they wouldn't be able to begin the project. We contacted Home Depot and they scheduled another appointment to ship the wood to our home. When they were supposed to deliver it, apparently they told us that they weren't able to as we had an outstanding balance - but we told them (with proof) that we already paid! They pushed the wood delivery again to the following week. However, the installers weren't able to come for another two weeks! When they finally came, they said that the wood is again damaged and they cannot install it. This was the last straw! We basically had to remove all the furniture in our home and it's caused a lot of stress and frustration on our part. We did not know installing our floors would take more than 4 months and a lot of headache. We will NEVER spend another penny at this Home Depot. BEWARE and do not shop here unless you want to be scammed and have your life upside down for doing any home improvement project. read more

My parents are elderly and went shopping for a fridge on Saturday. One of the employees there was mocking ym father for the way he walks and calling him a penguin. He has difficulty walking and the employee was out of line to ridicule a customer. On top of that, when my parents were seeking help, the employee was being rude and asking if they're going to put money in the fridge instead of food. what is wrong with your hiring? Do you pick just about any one willing to work for you despite of their disrespectful character?
