I've visited before and have always had a wonderful time however this past Saturday I was there with a date and was very disappointed! We were the only ones there at 5:30pm. When we sat we specifically told our waiter that we wanted to wait to order while we enjoyed our champagne celebrating the new election results. He told us that the food takes at least an hour to make and we should get the order in asap. We agreed but insisted we wanted to finish our champagne and wait to receive our food until after we ordered our wine. He didn't wait, we received out meal in 15 minutes, we had to ask for our wine again and the food was cold. I still had my after dinner drink at the table when the owners wife cleared the table including our water. Considering we had 3 drinks each its a great idea to leave water for people who might be driving!!!! I asked her to please bring us water with which she grabbed one from a set table and placed it in front of me, none for my date. I said thank you she walked away. We were there from 5:30 to 8:30 and I have never felt so rushed and treated so poorly. Id like to point out again that there was no line or anyone waiting to get in. I feel we were not treated well, we were overbilled and the food was mediocre. I will not be returning. read more

This is by far my favorite restaurant in the area. The food is magnificent, well prepared, and always fresh. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and attentive and very pleasant and friendly. Matt, the owner is always present and gives his guests a warm greeting. He is also the pastry chef - the desserts are amazing. My husband and I stopped here on our way to Glenmere Mansion which is a hotel we love to stay at. Their dining room is amazing so we were a little sad we wouldn't make it in time to have dinner there. The Hudson House was on our way and had great reviews so we thought we'd try it. It was amazing. This may be our new spot to stop on the way. Notables are a delicious lemon gelee that comes with their oysters, the scallop special and the duck. The staff is kind, welcoming, and thoughtful. Enjoyed such a lovely dinner last night at the Hudson House! Not only was the food amazing, but so was the service. It's hard to find a restaurant that offers both. We started off with two of the cheese pairings, and some oysters. Everything was fresh! I enjoyed their Duck dish as my entree.. one of the best I've ever had. Dessert is all made in-house. I have a bit of a sweet tooth so I couldn't decide on what to order. Our lovely waiter noticed that, and brought out an extra dessert on the house. I highly recommend the toffee pudding cake!! My husband and I had the best dinner here on Sunday night. We took a trip to Nyack on a whim for his birthday and decided on The Hudson House for his celebratory dinner. I started to follow the restaurant on Instagram and saw Matt's awesome dessert videos. It's true what the reviews say: do not skip dessert! Matt greeted us when we walked in. We were seated promptly and never left unattended. The entire staff was gracious and made sure we had everything we wanted. Our drinks and meals were delicious: a dirty martini for me and the barrel-aged Manhattan for my hubby; oysters; octopus; burrata with heirloom tomatoes; hanger steak; homemade Oreo cookies and a blueberry-peach corn-muffin cake (or pie or cobbler?) for dessert. Ridiculously good. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and I cannot say enough about the service. Matt actually came out of the restaurant after we had left to say goodbye to us! Terrible experience recently with the owner, service, and management. Many people were openly smoking on the patio (during COVID times on top of, you know, the normal cancer risk) with no regard for other patrons. Ash trays were even provided and staff were very supportive of the smoking. When asked to please move elsewhere, management did little to encourage the individuals smoking to move. In addition, these individuals snickered, laughed, and made fun of us throughout the rest of our dinner. Turned into a very terrible atmosphere, physically and emotionally. We were simply trying to celebrate a birthday and were very polite with our requests for the smoking to please stop. Sorry to see such terrible human beings out there, but what can you do. read more

This place is crowded! People were still waiting for tables at 10:30 pm on a sat night. Luckily, my aunts bf knows the owner so we got a table right away. The waiters were all super nice and awesome. Service was super quick! The bar looks good - gonna have to come back after my 21st. After having stuffed ourselves with raw fish at wasabi a couple stores away, we were eager for dessert yumm. My cousin got a mojito mocktail while my aunt got the real one. Both were good haha I got coffee and it was eh. The dessert menu was short: we got 5 out of the 8 desserts lol (my family is a foodie family) : key lime pie, upside down fruit cake, cobbler, banana cream pie, firecracker apple cake. Banana cream pie was too sweet for me cause the crust was also made out of chocolate. The key lime lie was superb-literally like a bite of heaven. Perfect combo of sweet and sour. The firecracker apple cake was interesting. There's chili powder in it so the aftertaste was unexpected haha won't order it again but my taste buds were diff shocked lol. The pear cobbler was pretty good too. The crust is so yummy but the subtle ginger aftertaste was a bummer (ginger and wasabi are the only two things on earth I can't stomach). The upside down fruit cake was good but tasted like the firecracker apple cake minus the spicy shock. Good place for dessert and drinks-gotta come back for dinner one day. The key lime pie!! This was our first time here, and we will be back. We had an 8 pm reservation, and they took us right awAy. Didn't even get to hang at the bar! So we ordered a bunch of small plates. One better then the next! We ordered the gnocchi, the head on shrimp, surf and turf, shrimp with grits, roasted Califlower Then when it came to dessert, we were torn, so we all ordered one. The black bottom banana pie dessert, was amazing! The sticky toffee pudding was good! My husband had a special for dessert. CRACK PIE! Delic! The service here was very good. Atmosphere was great. What I found really nice, was that the owner, Matt, would stop at every table and ask how everything was. He was very personable. We will be back here. read more

I had never been to Nyack before. I met my best girl Gina here for some good eats, gossip and goodness. I loved the area! So cute and charming. The downtown area was full of shops and alluring little cafes and restaurants. Our pick was the Hudson House. It was so quaint and inviting. The interior felt old fashioned. A bit of a throwback with molded ceilings, black and white photos and candlelight. We were seated at a cute little table on the sidewalk. The weather was perfect to eat outdoors so we were happy to be there. We were pleasantly surprised by the versatility of the menu. To start, we shared the Grilled Artichoke & Baby Arugula Salad with roasted tomatoes, cured lemon, fennel and shaved pecorino cheese. This salad was so fresh and delicious. The combination of the artichokes, fennel and shaved pecorino was just right. It was very lightly dressed so that left more opportunity to appreciate the flavor of vegetables. We also shared the Hudson House Potato Gnocchi. The selection changes daily. Ours was in a light tomato broth with red and yellow cherry tomatoes, artichokes and snap peas. It was so light and delightful. The artichoke was my favorite part of the dish. It added a bold bite to what felt a bit dull at first. For dinner, Gina had the Yellow Fin Tuna with Asian Sticky Rice, Hoisin-Sesame Haricot Verts all in a Soy Citrus Wasabi Sauce. She loved it. I had the Petit Surf & Turf: 4 oz. Filet Mignon with a shrimp, a scallop, mashed potatoes and a demi glace. It was cooked perfectly Medium Rare and the flavor was out of this world. After licking our plates clean, we found no reason to say no to what we assumed would be a perfect dessert. We had the Polenta bread pudding with fresh bluberries and whipped cream. It was divine. The waiter also brought us two complimentary pecan cookie bites. We were so pleased that we visited the Hudson House. It was such an enchanting little place that we will happily visit again. read more

One of the best meals I've had. Went for dinner with friends who frequent this place and they said they've never had a bad meal. I had the Halibut special which was a generous size portion. It was crusted with pastrami seasons and set on a bed of saurkraut and cauliflower with rye ricotta gnocchi. It's an unusual combination but absolutely delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly with a lovely crust. The broth base was just the right amount so it was flavorful without making the crust soggy. Gnocchi was creamy and sweet. Had a tiny taste of firecracker apple cake for dessert. Although I didn't drink, the cocktail list had plenty of interesting options. Service was friendly and attentive. read more

Great little spot, delicious meal and enjoyable service. Octopus with citrus-dressed fingerling potatoes, and hazelnut pesto gnudi were standout apps--I'm still dreaming about them! Also recommend the rest of our meal: burrata and fig salad, NY strip steak, and the pork chop with chorizo. The paccheri with shrimp was fine but suffered in comparison to the other awesome dishes. Don't miss the amazing desserts: key lime pie, black bottom banana cream pie, and espresso cheesecake were all to die for, the perfect ending to a great experience. The Bloody Margie cocktail was delicious and perfectly balanced, a great twist on a margarita. We were in the bar area which was lively and fun (but small) and I would choose it over the main dining room again. Gotta shout out to the service staff--everyone from the host, the bartender, our waiters and the busboy were gracious, attentive, personable, fun and very helpful. They really took the whole experience to 5-star levels and we are definitely coming back. read more

I've never actually been here but it's a favorite of a good friend. As a present, said friend had Matt Hudson ship two of his famous desserts across the country to me in an insulated zipped container with dry ice. Got several surprise servings of: -Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake, Toffee Sauce, Candied Ginger & Whipped Cream -Fire Cracker Apple Cake, Caramel Chili Glaze Both were delicious and they seemed to have held up quite well over the cross country trip. From what I hear from my friend Matt is an interesting guy, making all the desserts and greeting the patrons night in and night out. Hopefully Ill make the journey one of these days and have the cuisine in the actual restaurant itself. read more

This is our all time favorite restaurant in Rockland. The owner Matt Hudson and his staff make sure that everyone is treated like family as soon as they walk in the door. During the pandemic HH has gone above and beyond to keep their staff and their guests safe while still maintaining their incredible level of service and quality of their amazing food. They even have adapted and are now doing a limited take out menu. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time. Over the years my family and I have celebrated holidays, birthdays and so many special events and they always make it special every time. As you come in you are greeted by someone that takes your coat and even though it was a busy Saturday night we were seated right away. The owner goes around the tables making sure everything is going smoothly which was very nice! You can tell how much care he puts into his restaurant. The menu isn't long but that's how you know that they whatever is on the menu is delicious and it was! The desserts are a must try! The owner makes it himself and they give you a little sample of something you didn't order to try! There was a full bar and a wine cellar in the back! Lovely historic building, magnificent pressed-tin paneled dining room, and owner Matt Hudson's stunning portraits of local kids line the back room walls where the restrooms are, a charming touch. Breakfast dishes tend to be on the light side. Eggs Benedict was good but not overrich; Toad in the Hole (a childhood fav of mine) was updated with duck confit. I asked for an extra egg and they were happy to oblige. The brioche toast used was delicious. We finished with a cheese course: Jasper Hill/Vermont cheeses, "Moses Sleeper" a great triple creme, similar to brie; and Bayley Hazen Blue, a cow's milk cheese that was firm and crumbly, much milder and less creamy/salty than the CA blues we are used to. Fruit accompaniments were nice; fig compote too sweet, fruit/walnut bread overtoasted. Coffee was good. Very good service. Everybody else was having sandwiches and fries, and those plates were quite substantial-looking. We read the dinner menu and it looked very interesting. Prices are average for California but probably high compared to area. read more
