I was craving coffee this past weekend and wanted to go somewhere quick and easy and instantly thought of The Human Bean. I have been driving past their little drive thru for years and never had a chance to stop by. I stopped by around 11:00 a.m. on a Saturday and there was only 1 car ahead of me. While they served the car ahead of me, someone came out and took my order so it was ready when I pulled up. I ordered 2 medium iced coffees and it came out to $5.00 even. What a deal! Definitely much cheaper than other coffee shops around. It came with a chocolate covered coffee bean to cover the opening of the cup - a very nice touch. I enjoyed it so much that I came again the very next morning around the same time. This time, there were 5 cars ahead of me and it took almost 10 minutes. Be mindful that they are a small shop and can't crank out orders as quickly as Starbucks. They have only have a couple of baristas working and they're working has quickly as they can. They have a small snack menu as well if you are looking for some food. They had lots of beverage options including shakes. I have been meaning to try this place for a while now and it did not disappoint. The ice blended pumpkin coffee was delicious and the barista was kind enough to make it with espresso shots instead of the coffee mix. Being a nationwide chain this is the only one in the Los Angeles, orange, San Diego, and riverside counties. It is likely a mystery how they decided to open up a drive thru location in a strip mall with light foot traffic as its neighbors include a liquor store and barber shop. We tried the iced blended chai and the mexi-mocha for this venture and it was not what we expected from a taste perspective as it was different from other competitors in a good way. Their service is very pleasant and easy-going which is refreshing and they always place their signature coffee infused candy egg on top of every drink. I ordered an iced vanilla latte, one of my go to drinks. Unfortunately, I felt like the latte was a little watery and I could find the espresso taste anywhere. I was driving down El Toro and I saw a long line of cars at this cute little shack so I decided to stop and grab a coffee. The guy who took my order had a great sense of humor and was very kind. I decided to go with the caramel latte. When I tasted my latte it tasted like plain steamed milk with no coffee or caramel taste. I called and let the girl know over the phone about the latte and she was nice enough to have me come back to remake it for me and add an extra shot and a little extra caramel. So I go back and they remake it. They bring it over to my car, very nice, since the line was still really long so I didn't have to wait all over again. She told me that the medium size drink didn't taste like coffee because it only has two shots in it? Should all the coffees there taste like coffee regardless of the size? I really have been wanting to try this place, only because it looks so DARN CUTE! The human bean is a drive-thru only cafe. They have multiple offerings and, in my opinion, the BEST holiday drink offerings. Yes you can get your starbucks holiday drinks (if your into that), but you can also get your human bean holiday drinks that put a ton more love into them, you can just taste it! I was in the mood for a pumpkin drink on a rainy day, had my kids in the back so I decided to get them hot chocolates (our first time order). The pumpkin latte was PERFECT! i have been coming to this spot for around a couple months! it's right down the street from where i live and its my go to spot for my morning fix. the staff is always friendly and they remember me and my orders, which shows you how often i go there. i always ask for oat milk due to me being gen z and also lactose intolerant, and one of them accidentally made mine with whole milk and the owner caught the mistake as it was going out and immediately redid it. their selection is always amazing! and i love on the outside sign they have the employees favorite drinks! truly love coming here every morning on my way to work:) read more

The Human Bean delivers an unique experience that you must try at least once. I did take two stars off because I feel as though the past two times I've been, my drink was a bit too bitter and watery which led me to not finish them. It's a shame because when I went more often during the summer, my drinks were always delightful. I was always looking for an excuse to be back! Lately, I just haven't enjoyed my drinks as much. This is actually a drive-through only coffee place, which we completely missed at first! Anyways, my brother got a vanilla mocha and I tried their granita. Both of us agreed that the drinks are okay - drinkable, but missing the 'wow' factor that would keep us from coming back again and again. Personally, my granita reminded me of those powdered coffee drinks that you would mix with water or milk, blended with ice. It's not bad, but not worth spending more than $4 on. They offer tons of espresso based drinks, both hot and cold along with smoothies, teas, and Italian sodas. I rolled through on a rainy day, got a cold brew and bounced out! The cold brew was strong and delicious, it kept me going throughout the rest of the day. This location is tricky to get to, so be aware that the street entrance closet to the drive thru is also the main way people exit the shopping center and drive thru. I'm a boring coffee drinker in that I only ever order brewed coffee. With that, I feel like I have a solid grasp on what coffee shops are good and which are hiding behind mocha and whipped cream. The Human Bean is GOOD coffee. First off it's always hot and fresh, but the flavor is also outstanding. It's very balanced- not too acidic and not strong to the point it tastes burnt. The baristas are always really friendly and courteous too. The cherry on top is that they always put a chocolate covered espresso bean on top of each drink. It's such a nice little extra.
