Oh my goodness. This place! In tourist towns I find the reviews are always bloated. So so restaurants get great ratings because of the lack of options and the euphoria of the mountain air. This place lives up to a 5 star review. Attentive staff. Beautiful interior. Delicious food. We had the crab cake (and then ordered another one), the luxury shrimp, and the bao buns. They were all Incredible!! There was also a happy hour going from 5:30-6:30 I believe with great cocktail specials. I wish I could go back to this place. I almost did the next night. Absolutely awful experience. The waiter asked for ID from a table of adults, very odd. I had lost my ID traveling, obviously causing me enough issues with that in itself, just trying to enjoy a nice dinner without that stress. Even though I had photos of my ID and passport just from recently submitting them to a new apartment complex, the waiter would not serve me. We asked to speak to a manager and that waiter said it was not possible, very odd. Our party was incredibly turned off by the rude service and went to the Snake River Grill instead. We had a great meal there and would absolutely recommend the Snake River instead of enduring the rude staff here. read more

After a day of skiing, we were starving. We walked across the street from Hotel Jackson and lucked out by getting two seats at the bar. All we could say was WOW! We started with the happy hour appetizer of waygu tartare and the old fashions. The tartare was so good we both wanted more and wish we had each ordered one. We then tried the Kung Pao calamari - so unique and delicious. I ordered the halibut which had an amazing sauce over it. My husband ordered the Kurobuta Pork short ribs. Both dishes were so amazing that we went back there our second night to order them again. This will definitely be a stopping place every time we visit Jackson. Went to the Kitchen last night and it was one of the best meals we've had!! We had the Red Deer, Halibut and Ahi. The portions were just right and the flavors along with the sauces were out of this world. We had the lamb for an appetizer and it was good as well. Our friends were nice enough to make us a reservation here and get us a gift certificate during our honeymoon. It's a very cool, intimate space with more of a hipster/new age vibe. Wife and I were very excited. Very cute place. Simple menu, expensive. Assumed all would be amazing. Tempura shrimp appetizer was a 8 out of 10, it was lacking a little flavor or salt. Crab rice for $28 was a bust. 5-6 chunks of crab the size of a penny, super bland. Carrot cake was actually gross. I am know in the family to eat anything, I could only bare 1-2 bites. Cookie ice cream dessert was also a bust. There was a 3-4 inch piece of metal in our shrimp. Looked like it was from a metal scrubber. Waiter apologized and said he would take the dish off our check and he never did. It's a tough one. We just had a bad experience. I'm sure the other items are good. read more

Delicious! We came with a large group and sat on their patio outside. It was a bit chilly, but they had enough heat lamps to warm us all. I rarely go to a place where I can't decide what I want because there are so many amazing looking dishes. The Kitchen had several in each section I would have tried. We ordered every appetizer and none of them disappointed. I especially liked their hamachi crudo and tuna tartar tostadas. To drink, their skinny spicy margarita was perfect. Their wine menu has several great selections as well. All of the flavors were well balanced and everything was very fresh tasting. The wait staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. My husband and I came for an anniversary dinner just after they opened dine in after being closed during the Covid pandemic. The staff paid special attention to following strict guidelines to keep social distancing and prevent cross contamination which made us feel very comfortable and safe. I just love the Kitchen every time I've been there. The food is always fabulous and it is clear the chefs pay attention to flavor combinations and the art of plating. We had the tuna tostados, crab cake, luxury shrimp, diver scallops, wagyu burger and finished off with the cookie skillet. All delicious and seasoned to perfection. I had the duck stir fry and my wife had the herb roasted chicken. The duck stir fry was good, it was similar to pad Thai but definitely different. Calling it stir fry instead of pad Thai was a good choice. Because it definitely tasted like stir fry with pad Thai rice noodles The herb roasted chicken was good, but the real star was the sauce that came with the chicken. It was a lemon butter garlic sauce that really brought the dish to life. Potatoes were cooked to perfection. Since it was our anniversary (which both the host and our waitress congratulated us on) they gave us a cookie dessert on the house which was a great touch. We had a great experience here read more

What a pleasant surprise it was to find this amazing restaurant! Everything was delicious from start to finish. We started off with the Pork Belly Bao Buns. The pork belly was delicious and the fat was rendered expertly, something not everyone can pull off. The bao buns were also expertly crafted, they were light and fluffy. We also got the Jumbo Crab Cake, which was one of the best, if not the best, crab cakes we have ever had and we're from Florida. It was recommended to us by our waiter who's from Maryland (known for its crab) as one of his favorite crab cakes, if not his favorite, and he was soooo right. This was truly LUMP crab (capitalized to emphasize the lump sizes lol). The chef does not skimp. The accompaniments were also to die for. The criolla remoulade was one of the best remoulades ever. I think it is a creole remoulade and if that's the case, I've been to Louisiana and it's still one of the best I've had. The tomato jam, which I'm a huge fan of and try to get from every menu I see it on and also make it at home, was also the best I've ever had. Surprisingly, I liked that they kept it chunky. I've never had it like that before and was surprised the flavor was uniform because it was chunky. For our entrees we got the Ahi Tuna with Red Thai Curry and the Halibut in a Miso Beurre Blanc. All of our seafood dishes were very fresh, which was something I was at first concerned about seeing as how we're in Wyoming, but they get fresh seafood flown in every couple of days. The red curry was very good. Let's put it this way, it's way better than the curries we had in most of Thailand. The spice level was just perfect; a little bit more and it would've been too spicy for me, but they balanced it perfectly. I do think it might be a little too spicy for some people if you don't like spicy and if you have a low spicy tolerance. As for the halibut dish, my only complaint is that the halibut was overcooked, not hammered, but it's texture did change to a dry flaking of the fish and lost some moisture. We didn't mind it that much because the sauce was delicious as was the polenta cake it came with. Everything paired so nicely. For dessert we ordered the Creme Brûlée. While it was not the creamiest (it was left too long it's bain-marie), the flavors were amazing. I absolutely loved the kaffir lime and it really came through. So creative and so delicious. Kaffir lime is big in Thai food so I think someone in the kitchen is well versed in Thai food because of this dessert and the red curry. We usually find that a good amount of restaurants have a hard time delivering delicious desserts because some do not have a pastry chef, but you get the best of both worlds here. Visited multiple times in early Aug, 2017 (3 times?) Since we first visited The Kitchen in 2013 on our first visit to Yellowstone, we've been looking forward to coming back here. The dishes and drinks were so creative and memorable that we didn't forget them, and never will! LUXURY SHRIMP - WOW. Tender crispy tempura shrimps (and not the mini ones, decent regular sized shrimps) tossed in an amazing aioli. While we've had similar dishes at many restaurants around the U.S., and I've tried to make it myself, none have even come close. Pork Shank with Dijon mustard sauce, Poached Pears, and Farro: Incredible balanced combination with a huge portion of tender pork. Beef Tenderloin with mashed potatoes with a cherry sauce: Unexpected combination of cherry sauce with beef, but it worked! Tart and sweet complimented meat nicely. Seared Scallops: Huge and very tender scallops with a nice sear. Margaritas here are amazing. Top shelf tequila, real fruit juices, expertly mixed. In 2013 we had a world-class spicy tequila. This time around they had a spicy Tamarind Margarita which was expertly balanced. One note is that quality of the food very slightly suffered during Happy Hour, and the Happy Hour deal wasn't that great, but still 5/5. read more

Downtown Jackson Hole is absolutely beautiful and the Kitchen embodies the warmth & festivity of the town perfectly! We came here for dinner after a day spent in Grand Teton National Park. We were pretty tired but found this restaurant through Yelp so we decided to try it! We got there around 9PM and it seemed like most people had already finished their dinners so it was pretty empty. We sat on the patio next to the heat lamps and it just ended up being the perfect summer night. The servers recommended a nice South African red wine to start us off which we all enjoyed. We decided to dine family style so we split 4 appetizers and 3 main courses between 5 people. My absolute favorite? The chorizo potato wedges!! They were seasoned to perfection and are a must try if they're still on the menu. Overall a great place to dine especially if you're staying in Jackson Hole. It was a bit too pricey for me but seeing as it's vacation hot spot it's fairly understandable. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area and don't forget to take a stroll through historic downtown to digest your delish dinner afterwards! read more

Ah, such potential but such poor execution, unfortunately. The staff was friendly, the decor is warm and an adapted sushi bar, and the menu was written like a typical fusion cuisine. It should have been possible to have a good meal! However, sadly, we do think the chef may have left. The mahi appetizer wasn't terribly appetizing with small chunks of mahi deep fried in breading, wonton strips, and pickled cooked cabbage. Then.. sadly..the onigiri was worse. They were adorably plated but the rice was beyond mushy. It was as if Chinese rice porridge (jook) was dehydrated a bit and rolled into a ball, with wet seaweed and a small piece of fish on it. We couldn't even eat it. The entree of salmon was sadly overcooked a bit and the yuzu sauce was sweet and syrupy. The cherry duck had it's fat unrendered with a water gastrique and old, warmed over potatoes. Again, flavors that do definitely work together but the execution was simply poor. As my dining companion said, "it's as if PF Chang's crossed with Japanese food cooked by your summer camp mess hall chef." Would love to love this place but unfortunately we just couldn't. read more

My photos are deceiving. Everyone in this restaurant sent their food back because it was too cold or undercooked. The chef/owner also grabbed a customers plate, licked his fingers after poking their food, and then left. He returns after a few seconds and and then hands the same plate of food back to the customers! Later in the night, I saw a waitress wipe her face after leaving the kitchen. After witnessing a few of these moments, I was getting more disgusted. My family and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We would not come back. read more

While visiting Jackson Hole, we choose to dine at The Kitchen last evening. We made reservations through Open Table and unfortunately, I just received an email that the restaurant canceled our reservation and I did not earn my 100 points after spending a good chunk of change dining there. This restaurant is small inside and has an outdoor seating area. I like the intimate ambiance inside. Sam our waiter was engaging and provided great service. The manager jumped in and helped clear dishes and talked to us informing us of their other properties when we said how much we enjoyed our food. We got there right before happy hour was ending so we took advantage of this and ordered two appetizers, the hamachi ceviche and the buffalo flank steak both $10. I also had the special gin cocktail $6. The ceviche was chopped yellowtail on crispy chips. I never had ceviche served this way. It was good but a very small portion. The buffalo was served medium rare and cooked perfectly and tasted even better. This was a decent portion. It was served on some sprouts, scallions and carrots. We then ordered off the regular menu after our happy hour specials. I had the watermelon salad with feta and tomato and my husband had the tomato salad, both fresh and bright. My husband had the duck breast with snap peas & mushrooms and a scallion crepe. The duck was perfectly cooked and tasted like a steak, not greasy at all like duck can be. I had the tuna sashimi, which were five tiny pieces of tuna wrapped around chopped tuna and topped with scallions and a ponzu sauce. These were very good and fresh, but a very small portion. We ended our meal sharing the potato chip pie. This was amazing! An oatmeal crust with a butter and brown sugar filling with potato chips. A very unusual creation and delicious. I would definitely recommend The Kitchen. I don't understand the very negative reviews.
