I started going here to do studying and homework for class as I am a senior at Flagler College, as I went here to be in a calm space away from all the craziness downtown and to say I was happy with my choice to first start coming here is'nt enough. I want to say thank you to all the employees there, they are always so sweet and kind, with a smile on their faces and make me feel welcome every time (also to mention they all have the cutest style!). Their coffee and foo are also so great and I am never left with a bad taste! I just wanted to write this a thank you to them, as the beachside kook is now my favorite calm and quaint spot! read more

I love love love The Kookaburra!!! At first I thought it looked like a renovated fast food joint. However, once inside my mind was changed immediately. It has a fresh look, tons of windows and plentiful seating. The staff is amazing. They were super friendly and helpful. I love that their names and photos are posted as a way to personalize the experience. I felt like the baristas and the other customers seemed like surfer characters out of 1950's beach blanket bingo movies. They were all adorable with bronzed skin and mellow attitude from many hours spent on the beach. The quality of the coffee, level of service and comfortable atmosphere make this coffee shop a winner. read more

Had a nice coffee and Aussie pie this morning. The coffee is different, with a slightly fruity flavor to the beans. I taste raisin? My husband says cherry. I got the Diesel. As for the pie (I got the egg/cheese/rosemary one), here's my recommendation: break off the first side layer of crust. Get a bite from the middle with more filling than crust. This is not your typical buttery flaky crust, this bad boy is STURDY. And dry lol. Those used to southern pies might choke on their first bite like my husband The pie is delicious though. Glad that I stopped here. I bet their pastries are awesome. read more

My wife and I like to share. Loved the corn cakes. Shrimp tacos were good. Key lime pie was refreshing. With the weather being wet, they weren't serving outside. Place was way too noisy for us. Service was good. Moment we finished last bite on a plate, it was gone. They had people waiting for seats so wanted to rush us a bit. Probably would have ordered another appetizer, but the noise and their rising things made it easy to save a few calories. If outdoor tables open might try again. If only inside, nope. read more

Maybe it was just the added espresso, but the Diesel iced was SO incredibly bitter. I did not like it and unfortunately didn't try it until after leaving. It's a cute little shop and I like the walk up window on the outside but parking is pretty limited. read more

Walked half a mile here to try the pies. Arrived before 10am and they didn't have a single item to eat, so don't come here if you're counting on food, because they may or may not have any. According to clerk, they "ordered" what they thought they would go through on a Tuesday, so not cooked fresh in house daily like the website suggests. Paid $6 for two mediocre coffees. Should have gone elsewhere. Staff was nice enough. read more

Perfect spot to grab some bean juice and hand-crafted Aussie pies. We snagged a drip and a Honey Badger (oat milk) with a vejjo Aussie pie. Slurped it all down dangerously quickly. Staff were laid back and great! Highly recommend this spot. read more

Oh my!! I love coffee and I love trying out coffee shops while I am away from home. We popped by this place and I am in love!! I had the Honey Badger. It was so smooth, creamy and delicious!! It may be my new fave coffee drink. The staff is hip and friendly. The establishment is on the smaller side but is clean but has a trendy vibe. Apparently the pies are all the rage but the timing did not line up with meal time for us. Hubs had the PC and he also found his drink to be smooth, creamy, hot and delicious. They have plenty of seating both indoors and out also plenty of parking. When I am next in town I will be back!! Tip: they have a Turbo window open from 8 to 1 for fast walk up service!! read more

We ordered coffee at the walk up window the service was quick & Friendly yet the 2 ice coffee's lack flavor , bland similar to a hotel coffee , then we went inside and ordered 2 " Aussie Pies " - Realistically these are 5 oz Quiche in a pre made tin probably when they open in the early morning they leave them in a see into heat box ours were Luke warm at best and not tasty at all ! read more

They use A LOT of single use plastic for a spot so close to the beach. The staff was friendly and the service was quick, but food was just okay. We will pick a different coffee/breakfast spot next time we are in town. read more

Grabbed two lattes here on our morning walk and glad we did. Hubby got the honey badger with almond milk and I got the mocha nut with almond milk. Loved that they had choices of milk alternatives for non-dairy drinkers like us! The coffee was ok- nothing really distinct about it, but it gave us the caffeine kick we were looking for! Whip cream with cinnamon would've added a nice touch but not sure if that was available. read more

A great spot by the beach to grab a cup of coffee before going to the pier or something. Their coconut mocha is delicious. It's not just a sweet drink of liquids. I can actually taste the coffee, chocolate, and coconut. There even pretty latte art. It was also just sweeten enough. The pies they have are also pretty good. It was flaky and filling. The chocolate banana nut bread was also super moist and filled with banana. Everything was just very good. It's a small place but there are some benches outside and small sitting tables inside. Its pretty meant to be grab and go. read more

This place is awesome! Super friendly staff, and delicious coffee and pastries. Came in two days in a row and on the second day the barista remembered us and remembered our order. The coffee is consistently delicious, and the vibes are on point. It's right off the beach so if you need a quick fuel up before or after hitting the water this is the perfect spot! We drove by the spot on our way to our hotel and wanted to check it out for breakfast the next day. Found out later on that they had three locations in Saint Augustine alone! I can see why though, the coffee and Aussie pies are both stellar. The location we went to on Beach Blvd was small, but cute. The tables were TINY, but just big enough to eat on. They ran out of the brekkie pies by the time we got there at 11am, but the lunch pies were delicious regardless. We got a latte and iced diesel for drinks and the Thai chicken and Ned Kelly pies. Everything was great and quite affordable. My only criticism on the food is that the crust for the pies were quite stiff and stuck to the tin, but we ate it all nonetheless. Good coffee and fun breakfast pie. It wasn't the best breakfast pie that we've ever had but it was the only fast service breakfast pie we've ever had. I wish I had taken a picture of the inside because it was filled with cheese and sausage. The dough was the only part of the pie that was lacking. There are lots of options here as far as coffee, tea and snacks. I enjoyed looking in their little container and seeing some gluten free options as well. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

The Bloody Mary is where it lost me. $15 is a serious price for a cocktail, and mine arrived as a tall glass of ice with what was left over poured around it. Send everyone home with a free bag of ice -- at least then I'd feel like I paid for something I got to keep. Would go back for the food. Would think twice before ordering another cocktail.

(I love the southern hospitality we experience at so many places in St. Augustine.) My favorite treat may just be the cannoli. They are smaller sized than what I am used to back home...but this is good thing! in my opinion. There are an assortment of chocolates, brownies, cookies, some candies, croissants...and a variety of cakes and pies. We are not huge sweets eaters but this place is hard to resist.

Having been to Australia several times, I know how delicious their coffee is and I dearly love the country and thought this would be a cheap way to "visit" during Covid. I've been to two different locations. The downtown one has such a wonderful staff and the food is scrumptious. Please note that they have happy hour (pastries and their yummy Aussie pies) get sold for half-price. Cannot say enough good things. The one on Beach Boulevard even serves beer! I love this place! Great coffee and service. A delightful patio for chatting or working or just lounging and soaking up the ocean breeze. Try the "Hot Aussie" latte, it is delicious. When in St Augustine beach this is the best local place for coffee, and a great spot to sit inside or outside and get some work done or read a book. read more

Ahhhh what would we do without The Kook?!? My family loves The Kookaburra so much. My brother who lives in NY regularly buys there coffee online and gets it shipped to him. My go-to order is iced coffee with an extra shot but I treat myself with the Honey Badger on Sundays. Words cannot describe how perfect it is. read more

We stopped in here for morning coffee. A busy place parking was almost filled. The coffee was ok a little bitter for me and I got a muffin it was just ok typical for a coffee shop. The service was great and friendly people. We sat outside and had our coffee and muffins. I would come here again if in the area. read more

I ordered the cinnamon coffee and found it excellent--robust, well-balanced, and flavorful, not diluted as is unfortunately common at some other cafés. The quality and care in preparation were evident. Overall, The KOOKABURRA is a delightful and ethically run café. We rolled in on a ridiculously hot day just 15 minutes before their 3:00 PM closing time. We were celebrating my sister, so we ordered a bunch of fun drinks and sheepishly asked if it was okay to just finish them while they closed up. They didn't just say it was fine--they made us feel completely at home! Here is why you absolutely must stop in if you are in the area: The Drinks: We had a blast tasting everyone's orders. My Lavender Lemonade was completely on the money--exactly what I needed on a sweltering day! The Amazing Staff: Ashlynn was an absolute doll. She was so sweet and accommodating, even at the very end of her shift. Above-and-Beyond Hospitality: The owner, Mike, is simply awesome.
