Great place to visit very fun, great drinks, and awesome trivia! I love the upstairs and general feel and Vibe. My only criticism is on the pizza toppings. A large pizza was 22 dollars but when I custom made it I ended up with a 50 dollar bill including a drink. I paid it and without realizing, paid 4 dollars a topping for an extra 4 toppings. Pepperoni, garlic, onion, and sausage. Shouldn't be a 40 dollar pizza for a fairly standard pizza order. If they change their toppings policy I'll upgrade to a 5 star. The Livery has some sweet tie dye shirts for sale with their logo! Their IPAs are yum, especially McGilligans (sp). They have delicious pretzels and cheese, however the serving is small if you're sharing. The gentlemen working was full of good conversation. I've seen some pretty old looking buildings that have been rejuvenated into brewpubs, but this one takes the cake. It's a pretty bland-looking, simple, brick square building without much of anything to indicate the wonderfulness inside. Going in the front door, stairs lead down to the pub immediately to the right. A small bar is accompanied by several tables, but a surprisingly small seating area in general. A window for ordering food sits across the room from the bar. I didn't notice any televisions, but when with the right company, who needs them? In all, I like the corner bar/hometown feel, but it could use a few more bells and whistles to make it an elite spot. The food menu is pretty limited but is also pretty delicious. A list of pub appetizers, sandwiches, soups and the like adorns the wall next to the ordering window. I chose the meatball sub because they make their own meatballs, and I was not disappointed. Three giant, juicy and flavorful meatballs joins a simple marinara sauce and hoagie bun. I wish one side of the bun was connected to make eating it hot dog-style possible, but I didn't have any trouble eating it in the end. I also had a chicken curry soup that was very, very good. The beer is absolutely outstanding. It's the second best I've had in Michigan, just barely being edged out by Founders. They featured at least 10 options including a hand-drawn barrel beer and a nitro tap. I had a sampler of six self-chosen, five-ounce samples. Though the sampler is a bit pricey at $14, it was well worth the money. I have no complaints. I can only say that every single beer I had blew me away. My favorite was probably the Karhu IPA, though the Oktoberfest and Red Canoe Irish Lager were equally delicious. Throw in a decent American IPA and a perfect nitro stout, and you have a happy drinker. The service was great. I ordered food in the back and just left my card back there. After I was done with my sampler, I just walked back, told him what beer I had ordered, and he trusted me to pay for it. I like some trust in the world. read more

Overall pretty decent, I 'd like to go again a few times more to get a better feel for everything. I had the Blue Steel lager with blueberries which was OK, needed a little more sweet blueberry flavor I thought. Then I had a Summit Pale Ale which was nice and not too hoppy. Then finished with the Red Canoe which is a red lager that was very drinkable and smooth. The service was friendly and being I was there somewhat early on a weeknight, I got a seat at the bar. For the munchies I had the small cheese plate which was not over inspiring for the $10 cost. The pretzel bites with mustard were no big deal either. I would go here again if I have the chance to try more things but overall, they have a huge tap beer menu of hand crafted stuff that seem to have had some real care in the making. Went here at lunch time with my husband and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered a pizza and salad to split, as well as 2 drinks. The food came out really quick! We had Mikey's Bad Trip as our pizza and were super impressed. The house salad was fresh and delicious as well. There was lots of seating and the atmosphere seems great for evenings! Outstanding beer. Unique atmosphere. My husband lived in Brussels for four years and said the beer at The Livery rivals some of the best beer he had when he lived in Belgium. Let me first off start by saying I am not a beer drinker let alone a beer connoisseur so I am rating this place only on its ambience and feel. It was unique. My fiance enjoyed sampling a couple of different beers and the service was fast and friendly especially given how busy they were. Loved this place! The Mikey's Bad Trip pizza was so so good. Man, so much cheese. Just a pleasantly different take on a mushroom and cheese pizza. The loaded hummus was great as well, and came with a good portion of veggies and pita bread. Perfect for my husband and I to share. He had the IPA and I ordered an amber ale. Both were great. The patio is spacious and dog friendly. There's a corn-hole set up available and some cool seating arrangements. This brewery seems like a great asset in a town that is making a comeback.. Is this the best beer in the Midwest? Compared to Bells? Three Floyds? I don't know, this question will require much more research. For me the best brew pubs have the best beer. But I think there are extra points for also offering guest taps that provide an interesting dialog. Both the Livery and Three Floyds do this, and it makes the experience so much richer. Mug club member, but from far away. We have family in town and stop every time we are here. Beers are always spot on, even the stuff they are playing with. Worth the stop! This place has gotten so much better!! I went here a couple times, about six years ago, and every single one of the beers and ciders I had was off - sour in app the wrong ways. One of my friends convinced me to go to lunch here, and I cannot believe how much better it is. Every beer I tried was delicious, and they had some interesting German style beers that you don't typically see in the area.
