[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is not fancy and it's really a take-out joint with some tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have live lobsters in house, so you also can get classic steamed lobsters, fried clam strips, whole fried clams, fish and chips, calamari, and much more. All of it is good. One really good dish is their Sengari style fish, an Egyptian whole-fish dish. Nicely prepared with spices and sautéed veges. I recommend it. I don't remember the first, though the second thought I had after biting into one of the tacos was, in Gordon Ramsay's voice "F*****g delicious!". When I say details matter, it's not necessarily about having 18 different things going on at once. It's about doing a few exceedingly well. Since this experience was dring quarantine, food ordered inside, and the staff brings it to your car. My container had vent holes, so the steam would not render the crisp fish inside soggy. A small touch, but critical to preserving the integrity of their product. I had ordered three tacos, two shrimp and one fish. Even after having spent a little time in the car, they were still hot and fresh. When it comes to portion size, they didn't skimp of the protein! For that matter, they didn't skimp on anything else, either. The tacos were very well balanced in terms of proportions as well as textures. There was some creamy, soft, crunchy, not to mention the fish was cooked perfectly! It was delicately fried to golden-brown perfection and delightfully tender inside. I was very disappointed in the lobster rolls at the Lobster Stop. It seems like the lobster was mixed in with some sort of filling and was not just lobster and melted butter. I think it was more 'mix' than lobster. The restaurant was recently sold and so changed owners and the new owners have really let this place go. It's sad to see. This used to be my favorite go to seafood spots in the south shore. Since they've changed management, the quality has gone downhill. The seafood doesn't taste the same as it used to and they have started to skimp out on portions while raising the price. I understand the price increase in this economy - but to also decrease portion sizes AND bringing up the price? I recently ordered a 3 way combo - fried scallops, whole belly clams, and shrimp. It came with fries. I counted 5 shrimp, 3 pieces of scallop, and 3.5 whole belly clams and the rest of the box was loaded with bland fries. I paid almost $27 for only that?! I could've gotten so much more anywhere else. I basically paid for $27 for fries and a side of seafood. I won't be coming back as I can get a better deal anywhere else at this point. read more

We live in North Carolina, but visit family in the area. This place is fabulous! Easy to order takeout food online, service is excellent! We ordered a number of platters of fried fish, scallops, whole belly clams and fried onion rings. Also had haddock chowder. This was the most authentic seafood we had in years. The fish was perfectly breaded and fried. This is a true hidden gem! It is located at the Quincy end of the Fore River Bridge. A few friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday so we ordered a lot of food. I was expecting everything to be pretty expensive but it was all reasonably priced. We got some fried scallops, clam strips, whole clams, french fries, steamers, 3 lobster rolls, and lobster bisque. It all came out to be only 26$ per person for a party of 5. Food was crispy and fresh. Full of crunch with each bite. I especially loved the whole belly clams as it was juicy as well. Nothing seemed rotten or old. I ordered the double lobster roll, a bowl of chowder and fries instead of chips. The lobster roll was terrible with very little chunk lobster and more lobster paste with mayo. Like it was put through a food processor and just enough to put in a New England hot dog roll. I expected more. The chowder was ok but for a bowl of chowder it was very small like a cup in other places. The service was fine and I don't like being asked to tip a counter sale on a computer after using a debit card. I did tip though. I was dissatisfied and I'm not prejudiced I expected more. read more

This place serves the best lobster, fisherman's platter and without a doubt the BEST seafood soup, I've yet to have in all of MA. The Egyptian man behind the counter and his staff were such kind person and they gave my family and I recommendations. Finally tried this place I'd driven by a few times. Was surprised to see about six tables inside, had assumed it was takeout only. In any case I got a single lobster roll with the basic bag of chips and pickle for $15.99. I wasn't sure if the roll would be buttered and grilled from the pictures but indeed it was which is key (I tried to capture that in my pic). The lobster was quite decent, prob mixed together a while ago but tasty with a nice bit of black pepper added to it. I'd def pay the extra $2 next time for onion rings which looked good. read more

I wanted to get my lobster roll cravings out of the way before I took off. It's a lot better than legal seafood lobster rolls . Lobster rolls are super enjoyable . This is a fish and chips/lobster roll/chowder spot as good as any around. They recently expanded their menu, but we always stick to the classics. Fish is SO fresh. Lobster just caught, lobster salad mixed with minimal mayo and processing. Fish chowder is completely delicious, never too salty, and not even too rich. Generous portions in the fish and chips, very high quality food, yummy fries. I feel lucky to have this spot in my neck of the woods, and they've been cranking out quality since day one. The cashier also told me that unlike the other seafood/lobster restaurants which close during the winter, The Lobster Shop is open all season. After we sat down and was waiting for our food, more people were coming in and ordering food, either to dine in or for take out. Placed an order around noon for a clam belly plate, a double lobster roll and a side of onion rings. I admit, I am a very particular person and basically the customer you wish wouldn't call haha. I asked about prices, to have my fries extra crispy, and if the specifics like if the lobster rolls were the cold or hot kind. When quoted 5-10 minutes, I even asked if they could start the order 15 minutes later (I called so early as other reviewers suggested calling 40-60 minutes in advance). The young man helping me was so patient, nice and accommodating. When I got inside, the space Is bigger than I imagined and they have lobster tanks that really show how fresh the seafood will be. I snapped some pics of the menu as the ones on here are a couple of years old. Then the man helping me on the phone approached me and asked if I was picking up an order. It was so nice to avoid the line and says a lot that they go out of their way to provide such great service! Everything was delicious and still crispy by the time we ate (a 20 minute drive later). I ordered the fish and chips with a Cesar salad. No complaints at all. The fish portion was huge. I was surprised by the freshness of the iceberg lettuce in the Cesar salad. Most places you get old lettuce but this was fresh and crispy. I would definitely order from here again. read more

stopped in for a carryout lunch yesterday. ordered a single lobster roll, clam chowder, onion rings, and fish and chips i walked in to order and waited in the dining area with all its chairs up. plenty of social distancing made possible. i kept myself away from the cashier station. about 10 minutes later, someone walked up to me with my food. went to a local beach to eat in the car with a view. to my pleasant surprise, the containers for the fried food where perforated. i love when restaurants take the time to do this. the humidity vents, keeping your fried food as crisp as possible. the plastic bag used was also not tied. i love little details like this. it shows experience and care. the food: overall the seafood was fresh. lobster roll - it came with a bag of lays chips and pickle. the lobster roll was good overall. it was a little more mayo than i personal like, but that's just a personal preference. fish and chips - pretty standard. a side of tartar sauce, pickle, and i think coleslaw came with. i personally like a specific type of batter but that's a personal preference. onion rings - it's the flaky batter type, they were still pretty crispy despite carryout. props to the restaurant again for the perforating in the carryout containers. clam chowder - pretty good. it wasn't overly creamy, diluted, and tasted on par. this place is a good pit stop for me when i'm heading down to the beach somewhere nearby. i would definitely stop here again. read more

Searching for fresh lobster roll I found this place on Yelp while in the area. The lobster rolls offered were pre made mixed with mayonnaise which was a day old, he then offered me lobster roll with butter which was also a day old, neither looked appealing so I opted for a whole lobster they offered to steam. I also had a cup of clam chowder for an appetizer, The chowder was not fresh but OK as I learned they don't make it there. Most everything served is made elsewhere, simply heat to serve as evident by the box desserts on display and their statement to me when I asked if they make anything there other than lobster in a steamer. When paying my bill I unexpectedly learned they charge an additional $5 fee to eat the lobster at the restaurant since they steamed it, they said the clam chowder was allowed with but not the lobster, this would've been nice to know at the time of my order. I would not recommend this place with much better options in the area. read more

I was able to to order today, just stumbling upon this place, before they close until January. I got the buffalo Mac and cheese and my boyfriend got the fried clam strips and fried shrimp combo. Both were delicious. It's difficult to order Mac and cheese because not every Mac and cheese are created equally (taste wise that is) lol. It was cheesy (obviously a must) and for some reason a little sweet but with the buffalo flavor I am not mad at that at all. Bread crumbs on top obviously a good choice and not overdone. Overall it's a solid Mac and cheese and I'm disappointed I have to wait until January to have it again. The combo plate was also good. They have a lot of food packed into one plate. My boyfriend (who is not shy with food whatsoever) was not able to finish it in one sitting. I do not eat sea food but ALL the food looked appetizing even to me.
