We ordered mai tais- no prices on the menu and they ended up being $17 each, definitely on the steep side, but at least they were strong - and definitely tasty. The nachos were pretty disappointing. They have that liquid nacho cheese like in a concession stand, not so great chicken and guacamole, and a few jalepenos. They forgot to put the salsa on, so we asked the waitress for it and she brought us some in a little cup. Overall, for the $54 tab it was not great, but got the job done in terms of killing some time while we waited to board. Our friendly waitress deserves all the stars. The QR code is terrible. It takes several tries for it to even work. Frustrated, we just ordered from the waitress. Then I was told I need to pay using the QR code. I was able to successfully pay using the QR code. I got up to leave and they claimed I didn't pay. I showed my bank statement of the pending transaction. They claimed that the two systems don't work together. They asked for my card. I reluctantly gave them my card. Now I have two charges pending for the same amount. They stated that both charges won't post. I have both receipts and if post transactions post, I will be contacting the manager. read more

The pineapple hospitality service was really lacking here and the many female waitresses ignored us for a fair bit. We were hungry and had only 40 mins to eat before catching our flight. My wife didn't want to give this place a try because of the low rating. However, just walking inside the A/C was on, people eating and having a good time (as much as they can in an airport) and tables open. There is no host to seat you, so you seat yourself. The menu is at the door and on the table. Service was super fast and friendly with both drinks and food. We ordered and used the restroom to freshen up and came back and our food was ready. Even got a refill without having to track down the waitress. The coolest think they had was a device on the table that had three buttons, one for service, one for the bill and one to cancel your request. The prices were a little expensive but the food was great and considering it's an airport, overall it was acceptable at about $20 a person. read more

Wish I would of read the reviews before I came in.... The Bloody Mary was quite good, lots of horseradish and nicely spicy. The breakfast was horrible. I ordered scrambled eggs, potatoes and arabuki sausage. The eggs were omelet style and loaded with grease, the potatoes are deep fried, and dumped undrained on half of the eggs. The sausage might have been good had it not been rolling around in grease. The server seemed busy and disinterested. He picked up by barely touched plate without even asking if there was a problem. An average cafe style restaurant inside Honolulu airport near gate E. A friend and I opted to get the chicken sandwich and the bacon cheeseburger. Both burgers were surprisingly good and came accompanied with french fries which were not bad as well. The menu is very simple with some local classics but mainly diner type of food. It was me and the 3 kids so we took 3 meals and shared, chicken teriyaki burger, hamburger & fish tacos. All were a bit pricy @ 16 each but the food was good and flavorful(a little messy) we especially liked the tacos the best as well as the chicken burger. There's little buttons on the table you can press for service, and at first you think, oh this is great, it will really help me get out of here in time for my flight, but NO, BUTTONS DO NOT MAKE SERVICE BETTER THEY MAKE IT WORSE. ALSO HIGHLY DECEPTIVE IS THE LACK OF PRICES ON ALL BEVERAGES. There's no prices listed for soda, beer, etc. A coke was $4! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? And IT DIDN'T SAY THE PRICE ON THE MENU. DAYLIGHT ROBBERY AND BLATANT TRICKERY. COME ON. As for the food itself, it was adequate, but kind of heavy and greasy. We both had burgers. The actual space to eat and relax in was great for the airport. The tables and chairs are wide; there is plenty of space for all of your luggage. And, the ambiance is relaxing and nicely Hawaiian. Beyond that . . . the service, and food was mediocre. He ordered a burger and I chose a chicken sandwich that were both just ok. The only thing that was pretty tasty were the seasoned fries - YUM! I have NO IDEA why the reviews are so negative for this place. I walked in looking for something good to eat before flying back to Los Angeles, and the kalua pork nachos were calling my name on the menu. I sat at the bar and got a Kona Brewing Company beer on tap with the nachos. The service was friendly and quick, and the nachos were fantastic. Sure they were almost $20 (this is an airport, though, so whatever), but it was worth it. Better than spending almost the same amount at some chain place like California Pizza Kitchen. Our flight was delayed and we hadn't eaten since breakfast, so we were ravenous when we arrive at the Honolulu airport. It seems to be under renovation so there aren't a lot of choices in the Hawaiian Airlines terminal area. We decided on "the local" because it seemed to have better than average food listed on the menu despite the high airport prices. Jeffrey ordered the Ahi fish tacos and I had the Kahlúa pulled pork sandwich. My sandwich was tiny for $16, fries were cold. Jeffrey's tacos we're on the cool side of lukewarm. The waitress wasn't much interested in us, the condition of the food or the speed of her service. Despite that the flavor was good and since we were hungry and there weren't many alternative places to eat, there really wasn't anything else we could do. read more

I liked this placed and am surprised at the low reviews. Many poor ratings seem to be driven by slow service but that's on the reviewer who didn't allow enough time to eat. We walked in..nobody greets us, yet 2 waitresses see us and proceed to ignore. We didn't know if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait for them to seat us. We ended up just seating ourselves. Our waitress was so BLAH. Totally unprofessional and just lazy looking. She was snacking on food while she was waiting for people to come in/people to order/etc etc. Also, she was asking about one part of our order with her back towards us. HUGE no no. Anyway..bf and I got some mixed drinks (not worth getting, won't even mention the names) They were overly sweet, and it literally tasted like pineapple juice only. For food..I got their cheeseburger & bf got their shredded beef sandwich. I asked for extra onions & she said they could put it on the side. Not sure why they can't just put it in..but whatever. Food came out in less than 10 minutes.. Tiny ass burger with absolutely no flavor. It comes with parmesan fries..and there was like 10 little sprinkles of parmesan on it. Super luke warm..just tasteless. AND she forgot my onions -__- AND..ANDDDD they didn't have ranch. UGH! Bf took one bite out of his sandwich and said, "This shit is disgusting" LOL. He also ordered a beer which thankfully didn't disappoint him. We didn't even look at the prices of anything..so before we got our check we were guessing how much the total would be. He guessed $57..I guessed $63. We were both wrong..it was $74..are you freakin kidding me?! Please do not waste your money here..mixed drinks are $17 each..that is CRAZY. This place gets 2 stars! One for the laughs and the other for friendly fast service We had snacks at the admirals club, but felt like going down for dinner. We all ordered tacos. Mahi and shredded beef. It was ok. The Mahi Tacos are 100% better than the shredded beef. The beef tastes as if it was canned meat. First star: Here is where the laughs come...My son wanted their local burger and the waitress responded that we should instead go to Burger King . My son was so shocked. I can't stop laughing. I have never been suggested by a restaurant to go to Burger King instead! He ended up not wanting anything so we gave him from our tacos. Each plate gets 3, so it was enough to share. Second star: the waitress (other than telling us to go somewhere else) was friendly and food came out pretty quickly. The lemonade tastes like lemon concentrate mixed in water. No thanks. Tried out The Local today after we realized Kona had closed. It looked just renamed to us. The menu was limited. No kids menu. I seen there was already mediocre reviews, but there really isn't much to choose from at the HNL airport which is pretty surprising to me. I ordered the Kalua pork sliders which had tasteless coleslaw, soggy Kalua pork and the bun was falling apart because it was so wet. It look like someone took a large hamburger bun and made it look like a square. Disappointing. The BBQ sauce on the side was revolting. It had a zing for the after taste. It took quite awhile for me to get the taste out of my mouth. He ordered the local burger. It was ok. It tasted like a regular burger. Probably better off getting BK next time and I try hard not to get fast food. My daughter got Parmesan fries since there wasn't a kids menu. She ate a few. That was probably the best out our meals sadly enough. Our waitress was slow even though it wasn't busy at all. She forgot out waters. We had to ask again after she delivered the milk for my daughter. I give it a 3 due to the lack of choices however it would be a solid 2 star if it was anywhere else. read more

The only reason there's no fifth star is the pricing. It was pretty expensive for not that much food, however the food was delicious and the bartender, Tony, was very patient and helpful while dealing with several customers at once.
