    Caesar salad
    Zuri M.

Pretty average experience here. I waited for about 10 minutes to be seated, although it wasn't busy inside. Seems to be lack of staffing maybe. I sat at the bar, and saw there was a QR code to scan and order. I checked that menu out first on my phone. Then the waitress gave me a physical copy of a menu, but there was no explanation to order through my phone or through her. On the online ordering, it had a side caesar salad. I asked the waitress for one, and she was quick to say they don't do that here. Seems to be confusion with the two differing menus. I ordered a full size caesar salad, and it was very average. Not bad, but not great.

Let me start off by saying this is airport food guys.. you aren't gonna get the ultimate dining experience because even tho this is a sit down restaurant they move quickly and efficiently that it feels like quick service. Everyone talks about how horrific the food was but I can only write on behalf of our two items, the mahi mahi tacos were flavored well and not dry at all, I did love the sauce it came with, just well put together with that fresh cilantro. Then the spicy crispy chicken was well liked by my husband and our waitress which I am butcher her name "Manet" was attentive, polite and always checked on us to make sure we were doing ok. Overall it's a good spot to grab something before you head out, don't make this your first meal when you arrive in Oahu.. that's why you flew all this way over here. This is where you stop to say goodbye gorgeous Oahu, thanks for the memories. The area is spacious so plenty of room to charge your phones, bring your luggage.. make the most of it right? Our waitress spread some aloha by gifting us some pineapple gummy candy and we left happy, bellies full and ready to go back home. Mahalo for your hospitality!

    Missing TV

After my flight was delayed for 3+ hours, my Family of 4 walked into this restaurant because it looked like a place we could sit and enjoy our meal while we wait for a later flight(11 hours) to be exact. Our luck, the waiter says the kitchen isn't working because there was a glitch. To be nice I said let's wait and give it a chance since waitress said it would take 45 mins to an hour. I requested a beer and to my surprise the beer (modelo) tasted a bit off. Not good. I asked for chips and Salsa and waitress said "I'm going to charge you the same price(pork Nachos $26). Really Chips and salsa?!?! I'm sorry, I cannot recommend this place! Ambiance is a bit dim, one tv at a distance while others were taken down. Do not eat here unless it's your last resort.

Good seating, nice service and huge portions of reliable local eats The burger with fries was best as was loco moco. Didn't really like the Mac salad Also enjoyed Kalua pork nachos- huge- spicy cheese which I like

Service was slow, not the waitresses fault, she was alone and it was crowded. She was super friendly! We split a side Caesar salad , that had Mac nuts on top (genius idea), and the crab blt sandwich on a gluten free bun. Yes, it's an airport restaurant, and prices will be higher, but the food was solid and the service friendly. It also overlooks the cultural garden and huge koi fish.

Easily one of the best airport dining experiences I've had. If you want actual local flavor instead of standard fast food before you board, come here. You have to get the poke and the pork rinds--they were incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and exactly what I needed before a flight. Service is fast and friendly, too!

How does The Local have such a low rating on Yelp? For an airport place, it's pretty great. Prices are a bit lower than on Waikiki; food is unimaginative and not the most flavorful but just fine (especially considering you're in an airport, for Heaven's sake). Decent selection of eats, cooked to order and big portions. The service that we experienced (you order on your phone and they bring it to you and check on you constantly) was really terrific - on par with that at a fine-dining place. And the view of the Japanese Garden - well, how are you going to do better than that in an airport anywhere?

Poke was great considering it's an airport restaurant. The staff were friendly. The Krab Club was 1/10 do not recommend.

Next time you leave the island out of HNL swing by The Local for some local-style food. I usually grab something on my way to the airport but today I was rushing and did not have the time. Lucky for me, the TSA Pre-Check line was empty. The loco moco was huge and almost couldn't finish it. Decent for airport food. Take out and eat the rest on the flight back.

Pretty good for an airport restaurant. Especially when compared to pricing at the Burger King. Spend the extra couple bucks and get the better food before you are eating stale crackers on a 5 hour flight. View looks out onto the beautiful courtyard of the Honolulu airport. waitress was friendly and efficient. Food was a good portion size and very tasty. I wasn't sure what to expect, but was very pleasantly surprised.

What makes this place even more special to me is that Jessica was actually my FAVORITE waitress when she worked at Nancy's in Waipio, so seeing her now owning and running her own business is amazing! She's always been so sweet and welcoming, and you can tell she puts that same care into her restaurant. The food, service, vibe and overall experience were all 10/10. So happy for Jessica and definitely excited to come back and try more of the menu!

Started from the walk in, guy host at door told us to sit anywhere, then we walked to the left side of the tables, then he said those are for bigger parties, like huh? Don't say sit anywhere. We sat in area that we didn't know had a-lot of flies gathering. Ordered the $45 Prime Rib and starters. The starters came last. Prime rib came first. The rushing lady waitress didn't even ask how we wanted it cooked. The prime rib was dry & tough like it came from the freezer and rushed cooked my wife & I stopped eating it and just ate the toss salad. Almost half of it was inedible the fats was hard rubber band meat. Our main waitress didn't even ask or come by until she said ready for the check? Then other waitresses just sped by and said good?? We couldn't even get a word in. Started shaking ours heads. Starter was a lil better than the main dish. I know they just opened but there's many things that need addressing. Maybe ordering loco moco with gravy can hide the dryness but not the rubber band meat. Don't think we will be back it was the first time my wife gave a low tip!!

However, they told me they don't take reservations and to just walk in. Well, we got there and had to wait 58 minutes before we got seated. Pro tip: just have them put you down on the list. Don't listen about not taking reservations for large parties. I found out after that a group of 8 got reservations for 6:30 so I was quite unhappy about that. It didn't help that there was a table with 3 people who were there since 3pm (it was already 7:58 at this point) who were still occupying the tables and the staff couldn't make them leave. They eventually moved them to another smaller table, but they could have done that sooner, just saying. Not the restaurant's complete fault, people can be extremely inconsiderate but there maybe should be a system for dealing with these types of situations. All they had were empty bottles, they were not ordering anything. Anyway, we finally got seated, and as expected, the food didn't disappoint. We got the Tasty Chicken (always a must), boneless kalbi (super tender and flavorful), loco moco (one of the best on the island) and oxtail soup (theirs is pretty solid). We also got pumpkin crunch, strawberry crunch, and cream cheese brownie. Everything was amazing as usual and they all said it was the best food they had on-island during their trip. The food was worth the wait, but, that wait could've truly been avoided. It's not somewhere you take a first date unless you are bowling because it is super loud. It is located in an out of the way, not really scenic spot. Parking can be a bear. But it remains to be one of those tried and true "local" spots that never fail to please. *Rating is solely for the food and reliability of the excellent flavors and quality of the food

If you order takeout there's one menu online but if you dine in there's a happy hour menu from 3-6 plus bar menu. The happy hour dishes were wonderful, especially the manapuas! The spicy pork cheese manapua were great and a bit different. The chasui manapua were delicious. Garlic fries were extra crispy, lots of garlic but greasy. The poke fresh and lemon pepper salt wings crispy but juicy. So all in all a great option for happy hour goodness.

Location: Kitchen Deja Vu is located inside the Blue Tropix Bar & Grill, which just so happens to be right across the Chili's from Pearlridge Center. Parking: Plenty! You can park anywhere in the Pearlridge Center parking lot Food: We ordered 5 items 1) pan fried pork cheese buns: 10/10 - pillowy soft bread expertly soaks up all the juices from the pork filling, perfectly pan fried bottom adds a bit of crunchy texture, pork filling was seasoned well and there was a decent amount of cheese inside as well (it was giving pizza flavor vibes), supposedly "spicy" but it wasn't too bad at all so this would be good even for those with a low spice tolerance 2) pulehu style short ribs: 10/10 - incredible smoked and grilled flavor, cooked and seasoned to perfection! They're not stingy either, nice portion size and a hearty amount of meat on each short rib too 3) big shrimp potstickers: 11/10 - succulent pork & shrimp filling filled to the brim of wrapper! Very on brand because these buggahs was massive and sooo tasty! Classic potsticker taste and there's a whole shrimp in there too, paired with their shoyu vinegar (I think) sauce and wooo this one was winnnahz ‍ 4) charsui udon: 10/10 - nice & chewy udon noodles and absolutely loaded with charsui and veggies that were so wonderfully stir fried allowing them to soften just a little but remain crispy, adding another layer of texture to the dish and ensuring you get a nice little crunch in every bite! 5) kau yuk (caramelized pork belly): 10/10 - big chunks of sweet & savory pork belly, but not as sweet as the name would have you think. It's actually perfectly balanced, you can definitely taste some authentic asian spices going on in there, and the meat was nice and tender Service: 11/10 We ordered take out but you can absolutely dine in if you wanted to, plenty of booths and/or tables to choose from. But I did wanna mention that we were lucky enough to meet Charlie, the owner! Really nice guy, after we gave him our order, our server Kyle took such good care of us. Checked in on us multiple times & offered to get us some water while waiting for our food. Overall: 10/10 Food was delicious, the chefs obviously know what's good, hats off to them! First time trying this place out and it didn't disappoint and love that you can also order directly from your phone through all major food delivery apps or you can even text your order in, how convenient!

We ordered dessert and were disappointed that they ran out of creme brulee...my father ordered the cheesecake and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only reason for not giving five stars has to do with the outdoor seating. I would say that Forty Niner is a great place to get the bang for your buck in terms of pricing for their food, but I will say that the quality of the food isn't as great as it's presented on their ordering site, Beluga. Today, my husband and I chose to do takeout and ordered three things: The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Chorizo Hash, and the Molokai Loco Moco. For the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, the lemon taste was pretty concentrated in the middle of the pancake/not well distributed and we couldn't really taste the ricotta flavor, but it was pleasantly sweet (not too sweet). For the Chorizo Hash, I was a little bit sad that it wasn't very flavorful and the Chorizo wasn't well cooked. The Molokai Loco Moco's flavor receives the same review as the Chorizo Hash; although it was special/the first time we'd had Loco Moco like that, it was pretty soggy/watery and lacked flavor. The food itself in my opinion gets a 3.5/5, but because they were timely and friendly as a staff, I'm bumping our review up to a 4!
