Ivan is the best barber I have ever been to. The whole thing was a super personal experience - he's upstairs in a loft, so the place is open but private. He said he books everyone for at least an hour, so nobody feels rushed. They gave me water, I went up, we chatted a bunch, and he just totally got what I needed. Kayleigh I was referred to Kayleigh by several people and she is everything and more! I walked into the salon on the verge of a chemical hair cut from box dying my own hair purple and then attempting myself to take the color back out ‍. She gently took the remnants of the color out and gave my hair it's life back with an olaplex treatment and a cut! It's back to feeling so healthy and strong. I have curly hair so finding a stylist who knows how to cut curls is always a challenge. I read the reviews for here and saw that Sarah does curly hair and made an appointment with her. I was not disappointed! My hair was so thick and heavy before that it was barely curling but she was able to cut it so nicely that my curls are back. I'm very disappointed with this place . So I decided to finally try a new place to do My hair and found this place. So I decided to Give this place a try. I went in and wasn't even greeted I understand sometimes you get busy or you don't notice. I ask the receptionist if they took walk Ins she said yes. She asked me for my name, email,phone number and card number. She said it was just in case I didn't come back Or call that I couldn't make it. She said We'll see you at 11:45 , I got there exactly at 11:45 and she said "you're just getting a cut right?" I said no wanted my hair purple . She never asked me what I was there for she just assumed. I explained that I wanted to dye my hair purple and her response was "were not going to have time for that today." Why didn't she say that from the beginning? I went to a coffee shop near by to make some time which was by the way was almost 3 hours for nothing I could of gone somewhere else and the guy hairstylist said I first has to have a consultation with him. Why did the receptionist not mention that ! Who trained her !? If I could honestly put Zero stars that would have been my actual rate for trying to be a new customer. Kayleigh is a brilliant artist with color! I have been going to the Local Salon for over a year and it's time to let the world know how amazing she is. I had been searching for the person who not only can give me eye popping color, but also knows how to walk the fine line between too much and not enough bleach for my finicky hair. I chose to try Kayleigh, since her specialty is fantasy color. Not only did I come out of that salon with hair that made me feel much cooler than I actually am, but also loving my experience and knowing that I found my new home. The salon has a fun and relaxing vibe, everyone there is friendly and fun to hang out with (which is SO important if you spend several hours in a chair while your hair is getting fancy). Kayleigh is easy to chat but at the same time she still manages to have her eyes focused on my hair and getting the details right. (Nothing bugs me more than someone who is too distracted by their own conversation to pay attention to my hair!) I always feel like she makes time to get it right and I have never felt like she was over booked or rushed. I truly can't say enough to convey the awesomeness of Kayleigh and the Local. I've been seeing Sarah for a little over a year now. Can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review! She is incredible. About a year ago, I decided to take the plunge and do a fun hair color. Having never really colored my hair before - occasionally tried highlights and henna but for the most part, my dark brown straight hair was as fancy as it gets. Initially went in for a pastel pink, and she let me know right away that it would damage my hair if I tried to go from such a dark color to light color right away. She was super honest of what would work on my hair that would still leave it healthy, but also achieve the 'wow, new hair color, new me' vibe I was looking for. She recommended a teal/blue fade, kept my roots in tact to minimize upkeep. Since then, I've had pink/purple combo, blue/purple, and I'm currently rocking a gorgeous Evergreen color. This review is for Brittany Laine, who is a total life-saver! I want to start by saying Brittany is so sweet, super personable, incredibly knowledgable and downright talented. I was a bit nervous when I went for first my appointment because I had done years of damage to my hair by going blonde in the past. Brittany put me at ease by sharing insights on techniques and best practices for avoiding any future damage. She also suggested the best way to give me the color, tone, and definition I wanted with the least amount of harm to my hair. She answered all of my questions which is totally appreciated because I can get a little anxious and perhaps even over-inquisitive in that sense. Ritchie brought my hair back from the dead! When I came in for a very overdue haircut last month, my hair was dry, damaged, and tangled into knots that I couldn't brush out. I was embarassed and was sure Ritchie would have to cut the knots out, but he was very patient and was able to untangle them! He gave me a deep treatment that made my hair soft and shiny, and a perfect cut that I love. He also gave me helpful advice about how to take better care of my hair and to avoid future tangles.
