The Local is conveniently located in the NoHo Arts District, right in the middle of everything. The barber stripes offer a nice inviting look and inside you'll be greeted warmly. Alyssa meets all my styling needs and couldn't be more welcoming and more importantly, capable. Scheduling is never a problem and all the gals are incredibly accommodating. The Local also sends reminders via email when you book an appointment. Very fairly priced, and the location plus the talent makes this the ideal place for any person, of any sex, of any age read more

What a great salon, but the real reason for coming is Sarah Chaney! Not only is it the best haircut I've had in a long time, it was the best time I've had while sitting in the chair in a long time too! It was like she could read my mind on what I wanted. Every time I thought "Hey, I wonder if we should try this..." Like clockwork Sarah would say "Hey, what if we tried this..." and it was exactly what I was thinking! I felt like a million bucks walking out and, no joke, was literally stopped on the street and complimented while I was walking to my car. The compliments haven't stopped and now (3 weeks later) it's growing out beautifully and just as easy to style as the day it was cut. Great experience all around, I can't wait to book my next appointment with Sarah! read more

Kayleigh is AMAZING! Got my haircut here exactly a week ago and I'm back now to add some color. She's so sweet and keeps the conversation going (since I SUCK at small talk, I sincerely appreciate others who don't)! She fixed my hair, since I had gotten a pretty shitty cut about a week before that. She's awesome and the salon itself is great! Definitely coming back! read more

Kayleigh has done my hair multiple times and every time it turns out more amazing! I have fine hair and anyone who has that type of hair knows how impossible it is to make it look nice. Kayleigh always makes be look like a dime. Without her I would be wandering the streets looking like a basic bitch but instead I look like a dime, top of the line, cute face slim waist with a big behind! You rock Kayleigh, it's obvious this is your passion and It shows through your amazing work. read more

I had several inches of dark roots, due to work commitments, and since my usual stylist was out of town until January I looked on yelp for someone who was great with color. I've spent 20 years in LA and almost no one can figure out what I want, even though it's fairly simple. Blonde can be tricky, so when I saw that Irena specialized in blonde I made an appt. She was very nice, we had a good consult beforehand that was brief but thorough-- so often it feels like stylists listen to the first two sentences then just skip over the rest, but I felt like she heard everything and understood, then asked me a few questions to fine-tune what I meant. For partial highlights plus a base, toner, haircut and blow-dry I was out the door in slightly over 2 1/2 hours. Nothing rushed, efficient and she tweaked the cut a little when dry. Price was reasonable, place was cheery and clean, someone was always sweeping up. The color seemed a little subdued, but passed the bright light bathroom mirror test. Nice shade, blended like I'd asked, might ask for a little brighter next time around the face (my preference, no fault of hers, she did exactly what I'd asked) but very happy with it overall for my first appt with her. read more

Let's start off by saying...I am very picky with my hair. I moved to LA almost a year ago and have yet to find a stylist...well I have one now! I have tried many places and every time I leave not feeling like it is right. Well Sarah cut my hair just the way I like it and she even knew how I style and wear my bangs without me having to say much! I rarely leave a salon with my hair styled the way I like it. I usually go home and fix it. Did not have to fix it today! The atmosphere of the salon is very comfortable and you feel like you can be you and be the individual that you are. I would highly recommend The Local! read more

I'm usually a barber shop kind of guy, but I had to follow Brittany over to the local salon. She is the only one I trust with my hair, and I refer all of my friends to her. She's always a joy to visit with, and super helpful. The local salon is a killer spot, and they're lucky to have her on the team. The salon has really cool atmosphere and great energy. Definitely going to call this place home and keep coming back! read more

Woo Hoo!!! I was desperate! I am a senior woman who had a photo shoot and hair that was too long and not cut the way I wanted. I checked out all the photos online and Sandra D kept coming up as someone who did vintage hair, so I made the appointment for the day prior to the photo shoot and took a picture of how I wanted it cut and styled. To my surprise out comes this young, beautiful woman who had learned how to do vintage styles and she was nothing less than AWESOME!!! If you are a senior or want a VINTAGE hair style SANDRA D. is your stylist!!!! read more

I love this place. I always go here to get my haircuts!!! I love the davines line they sell there

I was new to this salon and was extremely nervous- u know the story........a salon is EZ to find however a hairstylist isn't. I have been to several different salons over the past 5 years trying to find a replacement for my old stylist but to no avail......I just couldn't find someone who could get the color I wanted right & who listened to me regarding how color effects my hair until yesterday! my appointment was with Ritchie and all I did was show him a few pics of what I was interested in and vavoom! read more

I was on the hunt for a new salon and saw all these great reviews for The Local Salon, so I decided to give it a shot. I got an appointment with Susannah and the whole experience was fantastic. When I arrived we talked about what I wanted to do and discussed the options to achieve what I wanted. I was going from a washed out pink/bleach and wanted to do a copper color and go a bit shorter. I showed her some photos and then she got to work. The color was a perfect and I loved the cut when we were finished a few hours later. Susannah followed up with me a few days later to check in on how I liked the cut and color, and I thought that was a wonderful personal touch. Six out of five stars! read more

This place is phenomenal at giving haircuts. I usually go to Richie (the guy is great hands down) but had some cuts with other stylists when he wasn't available and the experience has always been great. As a guy, I'm a big fan of having the hair washed off after it's cut so I'm glad that this is incorporated. Also the products they use are of good quality. For the price of haircut relative to other salons and barbershops I've been it's actually not the most expensive, and well worth it if you live in the area and want a good haircut. read more

I called in and said I wanted to go more blonde (I was brunette) and they recommended Ritchie. He did not disappoint! Super helpful with suggestions and was able to make my hair dreams a reality! The salon in general is very clean, friendly, and has an overall great design/style. Definitely coming back for my next hair transformation! read more

You know what they say...a women who cuts her hair is about to change her life. Sarah did just that for me and more! I love the cut, color, the way it curls and bounces. She's an extraordinary stylist and does unbelievable work. I have always been terrified about short curly hair until now. I can't thank her enough for taking me on as a new client. Her patience, charisma, and cute personality show through in her passion for hair and is exactly what I've been looking for the last 4 years. Book with her ASAP! read more

I've been looking for the right person to cut my hair after moving to NoHo and The Local Salon caught my eye as I was walking down Lankershim Blvd. I went in for a walk-in and they took me right away. The hardest thing about my hair is getting the fade just right and managing the length on top, but luckily Taylor knew exactly what I wanted. After some buzzing, snips, and a wash, Taylor styled my hair really quick all while maintaining a fun convo. Definitely my go-to now! read more

I had my hair cut and blown out by Amy, and I can confidently say this is the best my hair has ever looked. Amy is an elite hairstylist to say the least and knows exactly what she's doing. I fully trusted her with my curls, and she gave me amazing advice on how to take care of them. It also helps that she is wonderful company. I'm officially a customer for life! read more

Not respectful of your time. I arrived well before my 5:00pm appointment with Sandra and was left waiting for 20 minutes with no updates and practically ignored by everyone. Wasn't offered water or tea or anything. Not a good way to treat customers at all. This was a weekday when I needed to get home at a certain time. I expect when I book appointments weeks in advance for the time to be honored. I took a chance on this place and will not be returning. read more

I have extremely thick hair and a lot of it. Like any salon I walk into there are always comments about how it's the thickest hair they've ever seen, so I got an undercut to help get rid of some of the bulk (would recommend to anyone struggling with their thick hair). I've had many traumatizing salon experiences so I was wary in finding a new salon I could rely on. I live in Westwood and refused to believe that my only options for happiness were salons where a woman's haircut started at $120. I was referred to The Local Salon by my boyfriend (mostly because I was looking for a place to clean up my undercut that wasn't a Supercuts) and I've seen Taylor twice, once for the undercut and again for a full haircut. I went shopping after the haircut and I kid you not every single store I went into someone praised my hair. She managed to get it short without the puff but let a lot of the natural thickness (I realized I hated it when hairstylists thinned the living daylights out of my hair). I now look like Audrey Horne with a wicked undercut design, and for a super reasonable price. I really trust a hairstylist who can tell me why they are making certain choices and can explain why something I'm describing wouldn't be a good choice for my hair type. Also Taylor has a great personality and for once I was happy that the hairdryer wasn't that loud so we could continue talking. As a plus the styling products she used were all-natural organic! This salon is my hair safe haven, and I will continue to see Taylor for as long as I possibly can. read more

If you haven't gone to Brittany Wright, you absolutely should. She is incredible at what she does and on top of that, she is extremely personable. She is really good at making you feel comfortable and making sure you feel happy with the hair decision before she does anything. And if you aren't happy with the results, she will fix it for you! She does a fantastic job at mixing the perfect color for your hair and matching exactly what you asked for. Same goes for how she cuts and styles. I highly recommend you go see Brittany at The Local! read more

I was in need of a quick haircut before a show and got a referral from a friend to get Brittany Wright to cut my hair. Not only was the service friendly and warm, but it was also efficient and of the highest quality. I could not be happier with my hair, I will never go to anyone else! read more

I'll pile on more praise for Sarah - She is amazing! She is incredibly talented and does a great deva/curly cut. So many stylists have struggled with my wavy/curly hair and Sarah does not seem fazed by it at all. She also didn't think I was weird for showing up with my own shampoo :-) read more

Just got my hair done with Ritchie. He was awesome! It turned out better than I even imagined and I had a wonderful experience from the beginning. Very warm atmosphere and friendly people! Will definitely be back! read more

If you have curly hair, you know how hard it is to find a stylist that understands how to cut it. Sarah Chaney at The Local Salon GETS IT, though. She is seriously a curl whisperer. Whether I'm going for a tiny trim or a big chop, or all over color or highlights, she does an amazing job every time. I can tell she's really listening when I describe what I'm looking for, and she makes great suggestions based on her expertise. I totally trust her instincts. The salon itself is lovely, and everyone I've interacted with there has been so fun and friendly. I can't say enough good things about this place! I know that where ever I move in LA, I'll keep coming back to Sarah and The Local Salon. read more

By far the very, very best haircut I have ever gotten. (I have really thick, long, curly hair and saw Sarah).

I love the local! Such a cute place and everyone is so friendly. And Oh man, Kayleigh is my guru. A goddess of hair. She gets it right every time! I've been going to Kayleigh for probably 2 years now, and she just keeps getting better. She goes above and beyond in the way that she not only listens to what you need, but she then takes matters into her own hands and gives you not only what you wanted but so much more so that you walk out of there feeling like the best version of yourself. In my 30 years of living she is the best at coloring hair I've found. Also if your not sure about what you what, or if your timid about changing things up she is great at giving advice, always being helpful and honest about what would look good in terms of cut and color. Plus she's just an all around lovely person to be around for a couple hours. Run to local next time you need some hair love. read more

Sarah is a hair genius. Her expertise, honesty and talent truly transformed my poorly tended tresses. I highly recommend her and am thrilled to have found someone who does an amazing job with my hair. I am someone with a lot of hair anxiety but she put my mind at ease, took into consideration my goals while also guiding me into what would be best for the longevity of the style I had in mind. The salon is LOVELY and has a great feel. The other stylists all seem very happy and the energy was great. Can't wait to return read more

I was so hesitant to put any sort of color in my hair after having natural virgin hair for about 4 years. I had medium to dark brown hair and it looked very black in photos, so I felt like it needed a pop and a little dimension. I had heard about what an amazing job Kayleigh does with color, so both my sister and I decided to just go for it! We both asked for balayage which is a certain technique of highlighting that not a lot of stylist are very experienced with. However, Kayleigh went above and beyond my expectations, I showed her pictures of what I wanted (and I am very particular) and she did exactly that. She actually listens to what you want and is so excited and passionate about making your hair look beautiful! We are such big fans of Kayleigh and will definitely be sticking with her from now on, she is an amazing stylist and person! Oh yeah, AND I get SO many compliments on my highlights every time I leave my house. It's almost overwhelming! But it's cool to be a walking hair inspiration! read more

Irena is the best hairstylist ! She really cares about you and your hair, I went in for a full blonde balayage and a week later I decided it was too much blonde for my liking. (Even though it's what I originally wanted) She actually messaged me and asked about my hair and I told her I wanted to come back to add some more color to it. She took me right in and made it spectacular ! If you want someone who is amazing with hair then Irena is the one for you. & on top of it the salon is a really clean cool place to be ! read more

I found local salon on yelp a year ago and have been coming to Kayleigh ever since. She is truly a master of color and can tame my wild hair into something beautiful! I give her an idea and she runs with it and I have never once been dissatisfied. I now make my fiancé come to Local, too. The salon itself is a fun place right in the arts district of NoHo. I believe their prices are fair for the experience and quality of professionalism you receive. Make an appointment well in advance, they are in demand! read more

Been coming here sporadically over the years since it first opened and every time is a wonderful experience! So exciting to see it has expanded a little more each time. Kayleigh is an absolutely amazing hair stylist!! I have very curly hair and it can be difficult pretty much always. She cut and colored my hair perfect! And she is so friendly and easy to talk to. When I shared how I have trouble styling my hair she took the time to show me the proper (and easy!) way to do it. Will always be coming here! So freakin dope! read more

I love my colorist Sarah Chaney. I rarely dye hair because a) I'm perpetually lazy and would rather not bother with the upkeep and b) I'm always afraid of damaging my super fine curly hair. But after accomplishing a huge goal, I wanted to treat myself and did my research on different salons and hair color treatments. I am so happy I went to the Local Salon! Service was fantastic. Sarah walked me through the hair color process, what colors would look good without damaging my hair and took the time to browse through my little Pinterest board to see which hair colors would work and what wouldn't for curly hair. I ended up with this warm chocolates brown color that really adds dimension and highlights all the layers in my curly hair. I've gotten so many compliments and I am so happy with the results. I pre-booked my quick toner and blowout right after my hair color because I knew right away I'd come back. The salon is very clean and pretty and all the staff seemed very nice and accommodating. Just a few bits of advice: street parking can be tough so I bit the bullet and parked on the structure for the movie theater. Also book Sarah in advance! She's in high demand so it's always best to make an appt early on. read more

Sarah did such a great job on my very damaged and aging hair. I desperately needed a new look for my 60th birthday party, and she definitely delivered with a cut that encouraged my natural curls. She also coached me on how to keep the look going. I had a great party! Felt super cute all day and got tons of compliments. The salon is very comfortable and friendly too! I will most certainly be back, and would encourage any one else to give them a try! read more

I am a repeat customer at this salon, however, the stylists I have seen have all left over time - some during the shut down. So, amid this COVID-19 multi-month growth of hair, I decided it was time for a cut. I saw Sarah had great reviews so I gave her a shot. I had a lot of hair to cut off and some unruly side bangs I'm growing out to tame. She had her work cut out for her. Today is day 2 and I have to say, I'm really digging this cut!!! I let her take the lead on what should be done and I'm SO glad I did. My hair rarely does what I want without product and irons to style. Today, I let my hair air dry with a little sea salt spray and it looks AMAZING!! Never has my hair been so compliant and look so good! It is really flattering and easy to maintain. So happy! read more

I love this place! The vibe is really cool and the staff is really nice. I work specifically with Kayleigh F and she is a hair goddess. I first came to her after leaving a different salon that messed my hair up and it was pink/ blonde when I asked for a silver. Kayleigh suggested conditioning treatments and growing my hair back to a healthy state. After 6 weeks, she dyed my hair and she did an amazing job! I love it and her! I highly suggest The Local Salon. read more
