Wow nice place on Montgomery rd. It is not a big place maybe about 10 tables. But a nice bar also. Prices are very reasonable. Service is top notch. We all had the special. It was filet,small salad,bread and smaller side. The bread was out of this world good. Filet was good as well. To tell how great service was my wife ordered mid well. The brought out a well done one BUT told her to nibble on this and they were making her a correct one. Nice. Drinks were really reasonable prices. No draft beer. Not been having much luck with new-to-me places of late, and this was no different Service was good, I will give them that, but --my MR steak was cooked to M/MW, was salty beyond reason, was cut up rather than whole (it appears one can ask that it not be cut up, but this isn't mentioned on the menu), and was delivered at room temperature --The house steak sauce tastes like black licorice --my au gratin potatoes were not very flavorful, but the much bigger problem was that they were crunchy, barely cooked at all, even though the potatoes were sliced to near potato chip thickness. They did offer to replace them with another side, but I ate them nonetheless because I was hungry and didnt want to waste them. To their credit, they removed this from the bill without me asking --Bread is 5 dollars extra. Even at Ruby's, which is also an ala carte style menu like this place, bread is included --Plenty of adult beverages are available, but if you want a soft drink, you are confined to bottled coke --Prices are alleged to be the advantage here over other upscale steakhouses, and although they do have a few steaks in the 20-30 dollar range - like a tiny filet - most of their offerings seem to be in the 40-60 dollar range, which pretty much puts them at the same price point as other high end steakhouses. Not to mention that the sides are just as expensive as elsewhere, and of course the charge for bread service. Parking is a serious problem for all businesses in the Pleasant Ridge business district, no more no less for this establishment I find that getting a cel signal inside buildings in this business district is nearly impossible, but thankfully they do have free wifi. For the uninitiated, the theme here is '66, both the route and the year. The interior looks like a cross between a roadside diner and the living room at Mike Brady's, so, as far as steakhouses go, it's not the most formal setting. Seating is primarily long booth-style benches with a table slid up to one side. I think a lot of restaurants use this style as a space saving measure, but I personally don't care for it. You often end up sitting a little too close to the adjacent parties and I don't normally go to steakhouses trying to make new friends. Obviously, their specialty is steaks. On my visit I had the Wagyu, as it was recommended to me. My date had the Prairie Loaf, as it was the only main course available for vegetarians (don't worry, she knew what she was getting into). We also had a side of potatoes and Street Corn, served off the cob with queso and chiles. Both meals were good and the service was friendly. Lonely Pine left little to complain about, but there are just so many places to get a good steak that I don't see myself making a concerted effort to trek across town simply for what they have to offer. If I happen to find myself here again, I would love to explore some of their other cuts and perhaps a dessert. read more

Oh wow, what a nice night of extraordinary service and food! Next level, so taken care of! The hubs and I kicked off the end of 2021 with bone marrow. Delectable! Next up a shared Caesar salad - those crunchies, yum. Mains were the Cowboy ribeye for him and the catch of the day, scallops with Parmesan Risotto and a poblano sauce to die for. For dessert, all 3 - an incredible crème brûlée, a peppermint tres leches and a cheesecake you won't find anywhere else. Drinks were sublime. Only regret was not visiting sooner! And dinner took wayyyy long. 2hr+ dinner and we weren't slow-playing. They were out of the chili (?), and had 3 swordfish that my mom got one of and liked it. Rainbow salad nothing special, but good. We got the seasonal (elote) veggies and onions & mushrooms for the table and both were good, particularly the onions & mushrooms. Great herbs and spices on that. I got 8oz filet which was 4 small medalions. Didn't expect that and kinda dry but still good, especially with the sides. Recommend trying out but not in a huge rush to get back. read more

Excellent! My wife and I came here for our anniversary not sure what to expect. It's a small place but they distanced each table apart. Also didn't hurt they welcomed us with a glass of sparkling wine. The menu is different but we tried a bit of it all. The cured bacon, asparagus bisque, ribeye, and swordfish. Everything was delicious and our waitress did a good job explaining everything and checking on us. Only thing I regret is not packing the ribeye bone with me. Boyfriend and I split the Cowboy steak with the garlic butter and had two shareable sides, the fingerling potatoes and the carrots- before we went I had read some reviews that said the sides were smaller and actually not shareable portion size but we disagree I think it was perfect. Fantastic. My date got the Waigu filet and I got the cowboy ribeye. Had the bread service as an app and split the green bean casserole as a side. Everything was cooked perfectly, the green beans were out of this world. The butter offered for each dish was nothing short of spectacular. I visited Lonely Pine for the first time on a Wednesday night during COVID for an anniversary celebration. Due to the space limitations and covid pre-cautions I made reservations in advance to ensure we had a table as walk in seats are very limited. Upon arriving we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who provided us an on the house glass of red wine. This was a great welcome surprise and a nice touch by the restaurant. We were seated at one of the corner booths which allowed us to be secluded but also gave us the perfect angle to take in all of the specially selected decor items in the restaurant - for those that do not know the restaurant is styled in old Route 66 decor. Our waitress was extremely helpful in helping us pick from the cocktail list and the menu as it was our first time there. We had checked out the online menu prior to arriving as we know that the menu changes often at Lonely Pine, but hearing from the waitress about the fan favorites was super helpful. We opted for the 16 Bricks bread basket and the cowboy/ranchero chili for appetizers- and WOW. I could eat that chili every dang day it was so good - definitely recommend and recommend getting it in the larger size. We also got a small appetizer on the house - some candied bacon with pickled vegetables - I think the pickled green beans were the best I have ever had! For our main course I opted for the fillet and my boyfriend the ribeye - both were cooked to perfection - a small crisp sear on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. We ordered the fingerling potatoes and the seasonal vegetables for our sides per the waitress' recommendations and they also did not disappoint, but compared to the rest of the meal I would have to say these were the two items I would go without next time I come in for a visit. Since this was a holiday - for dessert we opted to try both items - the apple creme brulee - one of the best creme brulee's I have ever had - and the cheesebake - which was also fresh and delicious. We left Lonely Pine feeling full, satisfied, and pampered. The nice touches of the welcome wine, free appetizer, the owner coming table to table to check in, and the attentiveness of the waitresses - all made our visit exceptional. Went with some friends to celebrate a birthday. Waiters were nice and checked on us often. Food for 8 people took over an hour to come out. I ordered the bone in strip cooked medium. When my strip came out it was beyond rare. I'm not much of a complainer so even if more medium rare I'll usually eat it. So I sent the steak back and asked for it to be cooked more. The steak came back out 5 mins later and was still rare (picture below). At that point I was just gonna concede and eat rare for the night but my girlfriend made me send it back (picture below). The manager when taking it back tried to explain to me that since it's dry aged their medium is different. I've work in the food industry and this isn't my 1st fine dining. Medium is medium. It's a hot pink center not full blown red. The steak came and it was finally good enough to eat. The macaroni and Caesar salad were average. No effort to comp anything from the bill. All and all it was subpar dining experience for $120. Would recommend eating at Ruby's, Walt's hitching post, 3rd & main, or even Texas Road house for a steak. Gave 2 stars because staff were extremely nice. But will not be coming back. read more

This place should be renamed the Lovely Pine Steakhouse. The first thing you should know is that it's tiny. Make a reservation. Even during the week, lady? Yes, yelp reader, yes. The decor and ambiance are specifically geared toward a media reference. I won't spoil i, but you've probably already read it anyway. I've always had great service here as well. In terms of food, I haven't had anything I didn't enjoy. They are very helpful with choosing your steak by cut, and the temperatures are usually spot on. It's a bit on the pricey side here, so come expecting that. read more

Normally we have an incredible experience at the lonely pine. So much that we brought our best friends tonight. We left completely dissatisfied and disappointed. The food was no where near as good as normal. I don't know if there was a new cook but we were not happy. Our reservations were at 7:15pm and our meal arrived after 9pm. The food clearly was prepared with short cuts and it was noticeable and underwhelming. My husband and I went to Lonely Pine for dinner on 6/22. I was craving a good steak and I rarely eat steak out because not many restaurants meet my steak standards. But after checking their menu out and seeing the cool vibe on Instagram, we decided to give it a shot. We were NOT disappointed!! We have talked about that meal for 2 days. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. I had it topped with mushroom butter. I could have eaten that butter alone! We shared the asparagus and the fingerling potatoes. The place is small only having about 8 tables inside and 6 bar stools, which is fine bc it was a slower thurday eveing. The beer was slightly cool at best. I found the oysters and mac and cheese to be quite bland. However the big upset was the steak. there is no way that the porterhouse was 25 oz. The filet was probably under 3 oz, I like my steak medium rare. What I got was borderline well done on the edges and rare in the middle. I could not help but over the couple next to me also complaining about the temperature of their filets. I am glad I checked it out, but I left still hungry and underwhelmed. read more

I really wanted to like Lonely Pine. I liked the idea of a small business, in a cool neighborhood, good sourcing, etc. I ordered an eight ounce petite tender medium rare. I think my mistake was ordering the herb butter. It's not a pat of butter that is herbed to melt into your perfectly seared steak. They actually cut your steak up (making it look a bit like Alpo) and coated it in green slime. Every surface, every edge. It tasted green, worse than a shot of wheat grass. Absolutely astounding!!!! Had my first experience here last night with Tina (Christina) as my server and she was the sweetest, nicest server you could ask for. She not only knew every single thing about the menu, but had wonderful recommendations for a first timer here. I started with a half bottle of wine with was courteously poured by the gentleman at the front. A lot of places don't do that so I was very pleased with the wonderful service immediately. We proceeded to get a couple house salads to start, and YUM! The creamy garlic dressing they had was so light and refreshing. The salad had delicious crispy bacon, radish, perfect amount of cheese, carrots, yellow tomatoes, cucumbers.. we went Saturday night and it was still amazing for lunch the following day. My bf and I both got the Patrick's sirloin, I got mine medium and he ordered his well done- cooked perfectly which is rare for him.
