I've been to The Melting Pot both here and elsewhere and have always enjoyed my experience. As others have explained, if you're unaware, it's a fondue restaurant in downtown Boise. It's a chain, as I mentioned, I've also been to their location in Brookfield, Wisconsin. That said, this location is solid. Our server kept our glasses full and made sure our meal moved along at the perfect pace. We brought a couple here who had never been to a fondue restaurant, which is so fun. This is a great spot for a double date. I've also been here with a large group and we had a blast as well. We began with their cheese fondue (cheesy deliciousness), enjoyed salads (caesar salad had candied pecans? I didn't hate it exactly, but it was weird), and chose the Coq au Vin and the grill for our main. Our party of four agreed we'd likely skip the grill next time and go for a second broth type cooking style as it was much more flavorful. And, then ended with the creme brulee and a chocolate choice that had candied pecans. Both were great but the creme brulee was the table favorite. The only oddness is that they don't have a liquor license, so while they have cocktails on the menu, they're all canned (they spruce them up in a cocktail glass with garnish, but they're canned). They're all fruity and not something I'd order. I tried to order bourbon off menu but that's when I found out they don't have their license (they've been on a wait list for years--oh, Boise!). It was ok. Probably not worth the money. If you don't mind doing it yourself Cuisinart sells a really nice fondue pot. For the price of what you pay here You could buy that some decent food and wine and just do this all yourself and you'll have it for next time. If you like driving to downtown Boise and sitting in a booth and being waited on and that's worth it to you then do that. However for me I'd rather not. I wanted to see what all the hype was about so I went. I'm a pretty good cook so I think I cooking's better but I'm not even sure if you have to be a good cook to do this. There's a lot of recipes out there for fondue and if you get yourself that fondue pot you can do it too. I will say one amazing thing about this restaurant that I've not seen anywhere else is their customer service when it comes to reservations They check in with you and make sure that they have everything set up for you and that's just amazing that's like something I haven't experienced in Boise before It's just above and beyond and I hope they don't lose that. My husband and I came here for dinner on July 18,2025. We had a reservation and got seated within 5 minutes. We were fortunate enough to get Jadie as a server. She was attentive, friendly, and really just everything you hope to get with a server. We started with the fiesta cheese, fondue. It wasn't too spicy and had just the right amount of flavor. We chose Steak Lovers for our entrée and chose to grill it. Out of the different meats, we both agreed that the Garlic Pepper Steak was the best. We wrapped up the meal with S'mores fondue for dessert, which was delicious. I'll definitely come back with my kids to experience the dessert alone. We normally have decent size appetites, but could not finish everything. The restaurant does serve all ages, there was a reasonable amount of noise. It's not bad food, but for the price and the amount of food we got, it wasn't worth it. Both of us left hungry.

So if you come here- chances are it's for the experience and not necessarily for the food which is a good thing because the food is sub par at best. We were here for a group function recently and they stuck us in the back which meant not only were we away from the action but so were the servers. And by action- I mean us. We arrived around 8:30 and the service took over 3 freaking hours from start to finish. That can't be the norm. Drinks were forgotten for me and my husband at least twice and it just kept getting worse with each course as far as time wise. I can honestly say I'd never come back. To any of their establishments in any city. The two stars were for the "experience" and the cheese fondue. It was really the only thing I'd order again. Oh- and despite the mediocre bordering on terrible service- we were charged a mandatory 18%. I almost fought it. There's much better places and experiences to spend money on. Choose those. read more

Wonderful food, charming, attentive and caring service. Just had the pleasure of experiencing Happy Hour at The Melting Pot, courtesy of my daughter to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we checked in, the Host/Manager wished me Happy Birthday, our server wished me Happy Birthday, and there was even a signed card from the waitstaff already on our table. We enjoyed the Happy Hour special and chose 2 cheeses and a chocolate fondue - the Classic Alpine and Fiesta cheese fondues, and the Dark Chocolate dessert fondue. Each one was prepared at the table by our server, a caring, genuinely friendly (not an 'I'm in Customer Service' friendly) young woman (I didn't catch her name). I enjoyed my Thanksgiving at The Melting Pot with my husband this year and service was very busy, understandably. We usually have trouble finding restaurants we like that are open and regularly enjoy The Melting Pot so were excited to set a reservation. Our food was good and that is always consistent. I was disappointed hearing in the restroom that the owners called in "sick" which clearly impacted the morale of the staff. As a business owner, company culture impacts business longevity. I love the shark nibble which has a cute gummy shark and strawberry "blood." The waiters are always kind and funny, giving THE BEST, service and food tips! I love to put broccoli in the cheese to soften it up, and dip my after meal mint into the chocolate. I always enjoy coming to this lovely place to have some delicious fun! I generally always have a pleasant experience at the Boise Melting Pot. The only time I had a less than desirable dinner was when I had an encounter with the new manager. We always really enjoy our experience at Melting Pot. The food is delicious, the staff is courteous, and the pricing isn't bad for the quality you get. The lights dimmed when we were first seated, and it was hard to see after being outside in the sun, but it didn't take, too long to adjust. I wouldn't recommend getting the extra tray for desserts as the cheesecake is so overpoweringly sweet and too rich. Absolutely horrendous experience. It is humorous the lackluster food they present you with, and they are absurd with their prices. It is an absolute joke for what you get. $160 for crappy raw food you have to cook yourself, everything was extremely lackluster. Cross-contamination is no concern at this restaurant and they use cheap ingredients and "dippers" and charge top dollar. They bring you out these "sauces" because all the meat has zero flavors so of course, you have to drench it in the sauce. The chicken was rubbery, the skillet wasn't seasoned/oiled and all the food stuck to it. Salmon would stick to a skillet and just crumble to where you couldn't even eat it. The server wouldn't even let us get through 2 bites without asking us if we wanted a box, for what raw meat and uncooked vegetables? Weird. Felt very rushed, but we weren't too worried and were ready to get out of there. You can get a 100000x better experience at any other restaurant downtown. I'd rather take my nearly $200 to Ruth's Chris at least then I could leave knowing I had a good meal! Do you know when you accidentally sit through a pyramid scheme presentation and go wtf just happened? That's how I felt going here. Wtf did I just pay so much money for? And why am I still hungry? Had the BEST experience at Melting Pot last night! Forrest was our server and he was so nice and fun and was quick with everything we needed. We ordered the endless entree option that is their September special and we left there VERY full! Got the Alpine cheese fondue, a house salad and a caprese, the endless entree was chicken, two types of steak, and shrimp, and we did white chocolate for dessert. Enjoyed lovely evening for parents 63rd Anniversary. I ordered a small bouquet of roses (provided by Melting Pot) for table upon our arrival. The roses and the waiter did not disappoint. The food was flavorful and plenty! We went early so it was nice and quiet which is perfect so we could all hear each other with ease. The staff , again was exceedingly patient, helpful which was much appreciated.
