The fondues were so good and I love that we can get extra dippers at no charge. Even without an entree, this meal made me so full! I also ordered the peeptini which has a peep and an ice cream base and best of all, it is pink! My favorite cocktail I've ever had, but unfortunately it is seasonal. My wife and I went here last week for our anniversary and we both had amazing meals. We did the Big Night Out Dinner for 2 which was four courses of deliciousness. We started with the Quattro Formaggio cheese fondue which was incredibly tasty with the bread that came with it. Not sure it worked with the assorted veggies as much though. The salads were exceptional and the entrees were really tasty with the Coq Au Vin cooking style. And we finished it up with the Yin & Yang dark/white chocolate which I kind of wish I could bath in that stuff it was so good. Portions might seem small but by the time you're done you've more than your fill as we were bothint feeling pretty full. Brad our waiter was on point, always making sure our drinks were full and checked up on us just the right amount of times. Parking spaces a little small, especially for a handicap van but my wife and her powered wheelchair had no problem moving around the restaurant. If you go in a group of 3 or 4 only order 1 meal and get extras on that meal. Explanation: Some advice. Great place for couples. I have only gone with my husband until tonight when we took our youngest kids ages 15 and 17. We ordered 2 of the big night out meals. Those are the four course meals for 2 at $110 each. The first course was disappointing because we ran out of cheese. Even though we had paid for 2 different sets of meals you only get 1 pot, I asked and that's what I was told. The salad was good we had 2 Caesars and 2 California. The meat course was good you are just cooking the meat in a broth of sorts. The dips were fun. We were stuffed and couldn't finish so we asked for the dessert to go, yet again we were only given what I remember as enough for 1 order not 2. Simply, if you go with 2 people or 4 only order 1 meal and divide it. Order extra salads if you need or an extra board with the cheese. This will save you $60-$70 probably. The service was great, the staff is nice and just the right amount of talkative to be polite but not interruptive. I give the low score not because of service or quality, I just think the menu is misleading. Next time we go I will follow my own advice here. read more

I would recommend reservations. I had them but came early, and they did not let us be seated early, which I understand if they are packed. The beauty of this place is the booths are very private and thus spaced out well. The food is pricey for what it offers, but it's more about the experience. They offered some specials, but then had limited options to pick for entrees, so we couldn't do the math to make it work to be a good special, so we just ordered a la carte. The waiter was very friendly when mixing the fondue. Unfortunately, no broccoli with cheese dip, which is just the perfect veggie or cheese. The entree meal also didn't include broccoli. They have good options to pick for each round, and for cheese and dessert you can get extra dippables. The marshmallow chocolate made for a richly sweet blend with the chocolate. i had the worst experience ever this past wknd. My in-laws came into town so my wife and I had made reservations a few weeks ago. We requested a 2 burner table due to a food allergy and we were told that wouldn't b a problem. when we showed u and were seated they took us to a single burner table. When we said that wasn't going to work and told them we needed a 2 burner table the manager said he couldn't give us one and that it didn't look like we asked for one. Melting pot never disappoints, from their drinks to their salad. The cheese fondue with unlimited dippers was so yummy. For our main course we got a lobster tail, filet mignon, salmon and chicken . I suggest setting a phone timer for the meat to ensure you cook it long enough if you're worried about the meat being raw. Then go crazy with all the yummy sauces. None of the sauces are bad! Then the yummy dessert fondue with the brownies and marshmallows and all the other goodies makes for a great ending. We've gone to the Melting Pot about once per year for a long time. Last night we went again and unfortunately we'll never go back. The food and everything is great, it's simply a rip off. We had a party of five, four adults and a child. We ordered 3 entrees. Our bill came to $393. We didn't order anything extravagant, but we received multiple "up charges" they did not tell us about until we questioned it on the bill. We frequently head to the Melting Pot in Harrisburg. It's our grown-ups only night out dinner of choice. Went back last night with friends. We love the place, love the food, the staff and service are great. Alas, this time, the Melting Pot went and changed their menu and we were not happy with it. NOT HAPPY! I feel like there are fewer cheese choices and they're not all listed in one place on the menu. It's been some time since they got rid of the Big Night Out themed specials, which I loved, but I was comfortable and understood the menu afterward. (To be fair, that's not a Harrisburg thing, it's a corporate thing, just like these new changes, hence, MPH still gets 4 stars, I just want to vent!) Back to cheese: there's one cheese in the "Best of Harrisburg" section, six more under the cheese header and another different one on the special wine pairing menu they gave us. That's confusing. When the cheese comes out, you get your bowl of assorted breads, a small bowl of apples and grapes, and a small bowl of veggies (broccoli, grape tomatoes, and baby carrots). These are all refillable but they don't always tell you that. Before last night the bread bowl also contained cut pieces of pretzel bread- the best bread- but now the pretzel bread comes out in whole sticks, which is absolutely stupid. We were brought 2 pretzel rolls for a table of four people. So if the intent was to dip and bite, euh, now we're talking about contamination and double dipping issues, and only 2 of the 4 of us at the table would get to enjoy it. I just ended up cutting them up and adding them to the bread bowl. I have no idea what the logic is behind this change. The entrees are worse. They've completely gotten rid of the old protein groupings like Fondue Fusion, French Quarter and Pacific Rim. They replaced it with a Pick 3 or Pick 4 items and broke the things into categories: Pork & Poultry, Beef & Game, Seafood, and Pasta & Vegetables. It's weird because you used to order for a couple instead of as an individual. That led to some confusion for our group. We couldn't figure out what to get and how much. Then there's this Best of Harrisburg thing at the top of the menu that's set up as a 4-course experience. You don't have to order any of the items in it, they're substitutable, but when you say you're doing Best of Harrisburg you get the $12 charcuterie plate included as part of your cheese course and your entree has five items, which you can also make substitutions, instead of four and if you add the lobster tail for an additional $12.95 (which is not clearly indicated that you have to choose this) you get six proteins/entree items. Also, a Pick-4, as part of a 4-Course Experience is $45.80. So you get four entree items, your cheese, a salad and a chocolate. Some items have an upcharge, like scallops and lobster. However, there are some items, like Mushroom Sachetti (cheap, filled pastas) being counted at the same price point as "better" items like the Premium Filet Mignon. That's just weird. Also, under the Vegetable & Pasta category are Vegetable Polpettes (meatballs). They're gross. Don't pick them. If you compare the Pick-4 to the Best of Harrisburg deal, the Best of Harrisburg includes more food and is $46 per person. So for an extra $0.20 you get the charcuterie board and an additional protein. The menu change also eliminated the spinach and mushroom salad (my favorite) and added a french onion soup. Why? The chocolate menu stayed mostly the same. They changed the plate that the dippers are served on to a boat and the graham cracker crusted marshmallows were replaced with small pretzel sticks. Here is a place where I would like more choice. I don't really like the cake and brownies and marshmallows because they're too rich and too sweet. I would prefer all fruit, more berries, more pineapple and maybe other firm fruits when in season like mangoes and/or peaches. Or crazy options like potato chips and/or bacon. So now that I've ripped on the menu changes, I want to close on the fact that my table spoke with the manager about this last night and she said we were not the first to voice displeasure with these changes. She was professional, friendly and genuinely interested in our opinions. Our server explained the changes to us and was very patient as it took significantly longer for us to order. We still had a lovely night and will return. I just hope they change things back. read more

Reservations on 8/11 at 6:15p for 2. Arrived just after 6 and seated at 6:15p. We were placed just around the corner at a smaller table that was rather private. For a place that just opened at 5 it was disgusting. Cobwebs hung from the lamp to the wall. Men's trash can in the bathroom was overflowing which means nothing was cleaned or taken out from the previous night. Wife stated that there was urine on the floor of the women's bathroom. Waiter seemed attentive and knowledgeable as he was training another individual. We ordered the bigger night out for 2 and started with a bottle of wine. First course was the Wisconsin cheddar which was served with bread, pretzel bread, a few grapes, baby carrots, and a few slices of sweet peppers. The accompaniments were decent but the Wisconsin cheddar was stomach turning. Beer was first placed in the pot then about a 1/4 cup of jarred garlic. They added handfuls of cheese while it melted. A few shakes of ground mustard and worcestershire sauce were added. It was finished with a couple turns of cracked pepper. It was barely edible as there was nothing you could taste but ungodly amounts of raw off' flavor garlic. Second course we both had house salads which luckily were the highlights of the night. Third course we chose the coq au vin. It started with the basic vegetable broth that came to a rapid boil. Burgundy wine and vegetables were then added awhile later. The bigger night out came with a decent selections of meats and vegetables. Biggest issue was inconsistency with size of steak, chicken, salmon, and lobster which made it difficult for cook times. However, if you are into recreating boiled meats of the 1800s and early 1900s then this is for you. Sadly, it fell extremely short with taste, texture, and just about anything else you can think of from a culinary experience. Towards the end of our third course it was now 8:10p and we only had half a lobster tail left. Some of our dishes were removed by our waiter. Now I read that the 4 course meal typically takes about 2 hours so it was fine for a birthday dinner. However, we were done by 8:15p and just sat there waiting. 8:30p and no sign of waiters to our table. 8:35p I go to the front desk/manager and ask if they could get our waiter as we had been waiting 20minutes for our last course and had yet to have anyone. Manager and training waitress come and remove remaining plates immediately. 8:45p no waiter or food yet so back to front I go. I asked for the check as we had other plans that now we had to cancel. Manager said she would comp dessert. Told her we didn't get dessert and we just needed to leave at this point. Well within 5 min the manager had a check and boxed dessert which we didn't even want at that point. 8:50p we leave with no waiter yet to our table and manager apologizing and stating for us to come back again. We get home to look at the dessert and it was the wrong one from what was ordered. Hey, you tried. Unfortunately we won't be back as the food was subpar, we didn't get to experience dessert which was the main thing my wife was looking forward for. Just terrible all around. read more

It's a chain fondue restaurant. I'm not sure what my expectations were going in, but I wasn't impressed. We came here on a Friday night around 7 pm, not celebrating anything in particular. They put us in "Lover's Lane" which is essentially a row of very small tables that is seemingly disconnected from the rest of the restaurant (and maybe the rest of the world?) based on how slow our service was. Food is fine -- you know what you're getting yourself into. We did the option where you select the cheese fondue, entree, then a dessert. Our cheese fondue was fine, but after finishing that, we literally waited 1 hour (I kept track on my phone) before our server came and collected our appetizer and brought out the entree vegetables. Here are my issues: 1- I'M LITERALLY COOKING MY OWN FOOD. What on earth could possibly take one hour??? 2- We are both vegetarian, so all you have to do is put 4 mushrooms and some broccoli on a plate and you're done. Why did this need to take an hour? 3- When the server did come by finally, there was no apology or even an acknowledgement that we were abandoned for an hour. This place is amazing and so different than normal restaurants! I love that you get to "cook" your own food at your table it definitely makes for a fun date night! The prices are higher and the portions are a lot smaller then what you would get at a normal restaurant but then again you are mostly paying for the experience rather than the food itself. I would actually probably give this a 3.5 stars but I am rounding up because I have to and because its definitely a 4 star potential. We came in on a Tuesday evening to celebrate my daughter's 8th birthday. I had called earlier in the day to make a reservation. Since they weren't open yet I had to leave a message. The message said that reservations weren't confirmed until you received a call back. Well I never received a call back and so I wasn't sure if we're confirmed. We decided to head over anyway but it was past our reservation time we requested. On our way we got a call from them asking if we were still coming. No worries, they took us but I felt like a loser because I am never one to not show up for a reservation or late without calling and here I almost looked like a no show! I told them the situation and they were fine with it. Miscommunication on their part. In my message I also asked about the balloons, well they were there upon my arrival. That was nice. They have dinner promotions for charity and this particular one was for Make a Wish. The packages seemed reasonable and I am a fan of the Make a Wish Foundation so I was happy to order off of the menu. When I talked to the staff about how much they would get from this he said $2-3 of every couple goes to the charity. When you're spending $122 a couple that doesn't seem like much. Oh well at least its something? This was our first time here with kids and seeing on yelp tips that it wasn't kid friendly I was a little concerned but our kids are well behaved in restaurants so I took a chance. It was fine and there were others kids there. As long as they know what not to touch and can be patient through the courses its perfectly acceptable to have them there. So like I said, we purchased a charity dinner package and upgraded it to include a bottle of wine. Since it was the kids' first time we decided to just stick with the dinner for 2 and share with them. We then started with the cheese course. We opted for the cheddar because we thought it would be more kid friendly. The server came out and prepared it in front of us, which I like, and we got started. It was pretty good, came with grapes, apples, assorted veggies and breads. She offered us more of anything if we wanted it which I also thought was nice. The kids didn't end up liking it so I would have opted for something a little fancier than the cheddar. lesson learned. We then got our salads. I chose the Caesar. it was small and pretty tasty. I liked the crunch of the pine nuts. The main course was an assortment of goodies. Filet, Teriyaki Sirloin, Salmon, Chicken, Shrimp, and butternut squash ravioli. It came with some mushroom caps, broccoli, and potatoes and a variety of sauces to dip. We stuck with the standard bouillon. Normally we upgrade to a different flavor but we enjoyed this just fine and will save our $5.95 from here on out. This is where the wheels fall off for me. I just don't think there's enough food entree wise. It always looks plentiful when it comes out raw but once its cooked I feel like we spend that course nibbling, rather than having a full out meal. And since its the biggest part of the meal I'd feel that it would feel more substantial. To me it never does. Plus the kids ate most of it lol. Lesson learned - order them their own. Figures when we order them something they don't eat when we don't they eat all of ours. Can't win. Dessert was also kids' choice and they chose the cookies and marshmallow cream dessert which was lovely. It came with little chocolate chip and chocolate fudge brownies, rice krispie treats, pound cake, strawberries, pineapples, and coated marshmallows. This was by far the hit of the evening. It was rich and plentiful and left us all satisfied. Since we purchased the celebration package the server took our picture and presented it to us in a souvenir frame. Now that I have 4 visits in I think I know how to handle this place. I personally prefer it to just enjoy the cheese and dessert. Its a pretty good amount of food and a decent deal (around $7.50 per person). I also think the drinks are worth having. They have some fun cocktails! But for dinner, I think I am better to just order an entree a la carte so that I can feel I have little more to eat maybe? Not sure. But everytime we seem to get these meals to share it ends up being not enough to eat. Like its enough to sustain our lives but not enough that we're satisfied in the dinner department. The dessert was good with the melted chocolate and items such as fruit cake marshmallows etc. for dipping it was good. I just don't like having to cook my own food which was the main entrée. January 1st 2017 was my 36th birthday, and this is the first birthday I spent alone after a very sad divorce. After a difficult day, I decided I was going to take myself to The Melting Pot for some fondue, even though I couldn't find any of my friends to go with me. It was about 9 o'clock when I showed up and ask for a table for one. I let them know it was my birthday and I wanted some cheese fondue for myself. I was struggling a bit with my emotions, and the staff showed me to a nice corner table. My servers name was Sam and not only was he professional but he took a few minutes just to talk. I ordered the cheddar fondue, with a substitution of bouillon instead of beer. The tart green apples were a perfect accompaniment to the rich cheese, and there were chunks of soft pretzel included in the selection of bread. I don't recall that from prior visits. The pretzel was probably my favorite bread, and the amount of dippers was almost perfect for the volume of cheese, my bowl was clean when it was taken away. I ordered the wild berry crunch fondue for my dessert, substituting dark chocolate for milk chocolate. When Sam brought out my dish, he also brought out a box of strawberries and a plate with Happy Birthday written on it, and a card signed by the staff. I have been to The Melting Pot for birthdays before, and I have seen the birthday trays with Happy Birthday written in chocolate, but the dipped strawberries were a surprise and so was the other servers stopping by once or twice to check on me. The wild berry crunch fondue used a fruit puree as a base, and included peanut butter with the dark chocolate. It was Heavenly with the strawberries or pineapple. The bites of pound cake or brownie were a bit overwhelmingly rich with the fondue, but tasty. At my request, server Sam brought out a small dish and a box for me to take home the rest of my chocolate leftovers. At that time he informed me he and the other servers decided to pick up my check. I do not share this with the intent to have others expect similar treatment, but to recognize that the Harrisburg Melting Pot has employees who care. Really meh experience. The server was nice. Food took forever to get. I have no idea why, there weren't that many ppl and we cooked our own food. The food was very mediocre. The steak and so forth basically tasted like cheap stirfry a relative who doesn't cook well concocts together with some store bought sauces and spices, yet it costs basically the same/more than a steakhouse experience. This was my first experience at any Melting Pot (other than the great city of New York ... haha ... bad joke!) and I can cross it off my list. I don't think I have had a four course fondue dinner since my mom tested out her 'new' fondue pots ages ago. Our server, Mike, was delightful and one can definitely tell that the staff is trained to up sell, up sell, up sell. That being said, I would have given 3.5 stars but I think that the Melting Pot is a bit pricey for what it offers. We were a group of six but ordered the three course dinner for 2 couples with a couple extra salads. We started with a cheddar cheese and a spinach artichoke fondue that was made right in front of us (as all the fondue dishes were). We were given bread, nacho chips and veggies to dip with our own color coded fondue forks. These cheese fondues were so good and these two in particular were recommended out of all the cheese varieties. The salads came out next. There were about 4 or 5 choices ... I had the Cobb which was very good and my friends had either the Caesar, spinach or California. We had a choice between 3 or so meat fondue dishes and several types of broth. Our side of the table got the lower tier selection with chicken, teriyaki beef, filet mignon, salmon, shrimp and veggies. The other side added duck to theirs. I thought it was ok but not my preferred choice of cooking style. There were several sauces but I felt that my meat tasted 'blandly boiled in broth', similar to the Japanese version of shabu shabu, which I am not a huge fan. My first experience here was on my birthday, and I can't wait to go back! The staff was very informative and since it was my first time there they were very patient explaining everything. I enjoyed the "big night out" experience, which was quite the delicious journey. Also, I'm not a big shellfish eater, and I greatly appreciated being able to swap it out for extra meat. Let's be honest. You go there for the food-on-a-stick experience, not a gourmet experience. The food was good. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing necessarily knocked our socks off, either. The cheese appetizer fondue was fine. The kids liked watching it made at the table. The baby carrots seemed odd for dipping in a cheese sauce. The bread was fine and the other items were fine. Overall it was good. The salad was a huge disappointment. Not enough dressing so it came across as a small pile of dry lettuce on a plate. I was not impressed. The main course is where you realize it's a total rip off. They set the proteins very artfully on a plate, but there's a heck of a lot of white space. It was fun to try the various sauces, but most of them taste like they came right out of a jar. The kids were impatient waiting for the meat to cook and were still hungry when their "kid" servings were eaten. The kid servings don't provide a lot of food (neither does the adult portion for that matter). The various meats had different seasonings but must of that flavor seemed to get lost in the cooking process. The dessert is way too sweet. The things you dip are sweet and the chocolate fondue is sweet. I would have loved a few salty pretzels to dip instead of the marshmallows. It was like a disturbing nightmare set in the Willy Wonka factory in that candy room with the chocolate river. Plus, most of the dippers tasted like pre-packaged, mass-produced, filled with preservatives items. I had a few items then stopped cold turkey. The thought of another marshmallow covered in chocolate made me want to gag. The ambiance is dark. It comes across as intimate. The server spiel is a little too canned and stuffy for me. It's fondue, not truffles and caviar. I'd go back for the kids. They liked it. They also loved that the granite table tops are the same as what's in our kitchen at home. read more

If you haven't tried the Melting Pot I would strongly encourage you to do so. I've tried other locations and can personally attest that the service I received in Harrisburg was by far the best. That's not to say the service has ever been lacking anywhere else, I was just extra impressed! This particular location is rather interesting in the way it's set up, there are numerous booths that offer an almost strange privacy. The color and decor of the place is both classy and relaxing. As for the food, you'll just have to try it yourself! (I'll give you a hint, it's awesome..) Needless to say, I was extremely pleased with the place and wish I could afford to go more often, it's a tad on the pricey side for me, but definitely a memorable experience. read more

For Christmas in 2014 I got my coworker a conditional gift; a gift card to the Melting Pot. She had been talking about it all year long and really wanted to try it. When she unwrapped her gift she was ecstatic! The condition of course, was that she took me along. Of all the things you may have heard about the Melting Pot, it is safe to assume you heard about the price tag. Yes, this place does have a higher end price scale, but as I always point out: if you play the menu right you will be OK. Three of us made good use of the gift card on Valentine's day. They had a set menu which turned out to be exceptionally delicious, It came in 4 courses: Cheese Fondue, Salad, Entree Fondue and Dessert Fondue. Everything was good, but the dessert was by far the best! Just as good as the food was our server. After explaining to her that it was not only our first time here, but also our first time ever eating fondue, she went well out of her way to explain, describe, and make recommendations for our meal. She was very engaged in our experience; interacting with us as if she was part of our party. A restaurant with good food is always memorable, but a place that has exceptional staff is especially noteworthy. The biggest thing to note about this place is that it makes for a social meal. Come here with people you enjoy spending time with and go when you have something to talk about. The dining style and environment is very conducive to conversation and gossip! read more
