I was so excited to go back to the melting pot tonight. I hadn't been there in maybe 10 years because we moved away, but my sister got me a gift certificate for my birthday. I've always talked so highly of the melting pot and how great their service is, etc. If you were there tonight or are the manager, you'll know what table we sat at. We were the table of five right behind the hostess desk. We had our own room, which was nice because we could put music on since it was so dead silent in there. I will say the food was pretty good. If we knew what anything was, it would've been a lot better, but our waitress was not in the mood to explain anything, she was not in the mood to laugh about the fact that she didn't know how to turn the burners on, and she was not in the mood to do much of anything. We were all super friendly with her, so she probably will think this comes as a shock. But I am not going to make my children's experience any worse by complaining about our waitress while there. She started off pretty sarcastic and saying that she was having issues with the menu ordering system. And I felt like "OK, maybe she's new. But no, she complained every single time she came over to our table. Something was wrong with the burner, someone walked in and it was 9 o'clock and they were closed, (by the way I thought they closed at 10 because on the door it says 10?) Then she said she was angry at people who walked in after nine. She told us we had to explain the food to ourselves because she didn't want to tell us what anything was. All the dipping sauces we had no idea what they were, we had no idea what meat was what. She had another waiter come over who did get one burner on and was able to start it with us. My husband and I have made it a tradition to eat at the Melting Pot every year for our anniversary! We are always pleased with our experience, and this last time was no different. Something stood out about this last visit, though. We let our server know that I'm a pescatarian and that my husband is a vegetarian. She took that seriously and was very careful about making sure that everything we received was safe for us to eat. She even left off anything that contained gelatin when it was time for dessert! It was a rainy & gloomy day outside, so having a hearty feast with warm delicious fondue was much-needed. We got seated at a cozy booth. Each table/booth at The Melting Pot is equipped with a cooktop for your fondue and cooking your entrees (which you do yourself). Since it was the two of us, we chose the Complete Experience for 2 which comes with 4 courses: cheese fondue, salad, entree, and chocolate fondue. You can also order a la carte if you don't want to do one of the prix fixe options. We had classic alpine for our cheese fondue, which is great for those who like swiss style cheese. It came with an assortment of vegetables and bread...and let's be honest, those are just vehicles for the cheese! We each got to choose our own salads and entrees, and you really can't go wrong with any of the options. You also get a choice of cooking style for your entrees, including broth-based, simply grilled, or frying. We chose the grill option, because it sounded like the simplest one. We had fun cooking our meats, veggies, and seafood. They provide an assortment of sauces to go alongside your meal as well! Finally, it was time for the chocolate fondue. We chose the original one, which consisted of chocolate and crunchy peanut butter. I love peanut butter anything, so this was right up my alley. We had a selection of cake, marshmallows, and fruit to dip into the chocolate. We ate the whole thing - it was so good! The meal was delicious, fun and interactive. Interestingly, even though the meal had 4 courses and it seemed like a lot of food at first, we were actually able to finish everything and not feel too full at the end. Came on a snowy cold Friday night for dinner around 8pm without a reservation. We were quickly seated without a reservation (I still recommend a reservation though because it still looked decently busy). Our server Madison was very attentive and constantly asked us if we needed anything. Their espresso martinis are pretty good too! We ordered the four course option and just fyi...we were charged around $15 more for it then the menu said so I'm unsure if the prices have changed. The fondue and dessert is definitely the best! I love all of the dippers and it's unlimited refills! I could do without the entree and salad next time just because cooking the meat took about an hr and I don't have the patience for that. We had reservations for late afternoon since we live out of town. It was for 2 people. We had the $116.00 4 course meal for 2. We had cheddar cheese fondue with bread slices, apples, grapes, broccoli,carrots and pepper strips. We selected steak, had 3 different kinds of steak cut into small pieces. Also very good. We cooked ourselves at the table. They gave us mushrooms and zucchini slices too. The dessert we picked was milk chocolate fondue. That was very delicious also. It came with strawberry slices, banana slices, rice crispy bars, marshmallows. Dinner was very filling We enjoyed it. Will go back again. Celebrated son's birthday. Oh the Melting Pot! I haven't been to one in years as I live in Vegas now and we no longer have one. But, this was the one I would visit often when I lived in Ohio. We made a reservation for dinner at 8pm for our 3 year anniversary on a Saturday. Although we had a reservation it was a good 20 minute wait or so to get seated. Now, I know dinner here is not quick, however, we felt that our server was exceptionally slow at the start, but then became rushed near the end. Probably due to the timing of our visit. The ambiance was exactly the same as I remembered. Only issue, and this is not the fault of the restaurant at all and does not factor into my review is that the table behind us had a child with them and they gave said child a tablet to watch shows on, loudly, since it had to overpower their already loud conversations. Common courtesy and awareness or your surroundings is something not everyone has, but, I digress. We did the big night out. The food was all super fresh. The salads were delicious. The cheese was so yummy. The mains were seasoned well and plentiful. The sauces were all excellent and they even added some since last I was here. A couple minor complaints were that the table didn't seem like it was cleaned well, especially the cooktop. I also miss when they used to mix the cheese at your table while explaining and adding all ingredients. Overall, it was close to what I remembered. This was our first visit ever to a Melting Pot so we didn't know exactly what to expect. All we really knew was that it is a fondue restaurant. The cheese fondue was fair, a little flavorless. We opted for the classic alpine. Maybe the other flavors have more taste. The main course is what was really odd to us. You essentially boil your own raw meat in flavored broth. So you end up with boiled meat. We didn't know what to expect and were under the impression that the meat arrived cooked and you dipped it in a sauce. Boiling meat makes it flavorless no matter the broth, it wasn't very enjoyable. The dessert fondue was amazing. It was definitely the highlight of the evening. Our server was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was quiet and romantic. It was just the strange main course of boiling our own dinner that really threw us off. The portion sizes were small and the 4 course meal is expensive for what little you get. For the cheese fondue, I literally think there were two small carrots chopped in half. I will start with saying my parents frequent Melting Pot, I'm talking at least 6 times a year...which is a lot in my opinion because it's such an experience. It is at least a 2 hour dinner if you do the 4 courses and it's definitely splurge meal but 100% worth it. My parents took my husband and me for my birthday (a bit late due to my health) and I have to say it's one of the best nights I've had all year. My husband and I arrived first and were seated pretty promptly. We had one of the first reservations after opening because my parents are the night owls they once were but the former bartender in me felt bad being there as soon as they opened but it didn't seem to affect anything because these people were great! Alex was our main server. I already liked him because he has such a good name, but he had apparently served my parents a few times prior and they liked him as well. He was so patient while my mom asked him a ton of questions (Chemo changed some of her taste preferences and food tolerances) and I really appreciated how kind he was about her requests. Very nice guy! Our second wonderful server was Decary/Dakari (sp?), I am regretting not asking if he spells it like the basketball player or former college football player. I left my comfort zone and complimented his voice, because it is so soothing, like when you hear a song and you get goosebumps. I want him to record audiobooks or host a podcast, it could be on underwater biology and I'd still listen haha. Anyways, he was so nice, my dad and him joked around a little, he totally enhanced our experience. We just had a blast. This is the service that is completely worth the price of the experience. As far as drinks we tried a few! Actually more than a few. Although my mom and I aren't big drinks, my dad and husband maxed out their drinks. Little tiny secret, they have a 4 drink a person minimum. My dad and husband hit that limit and were cut off - they weren't drunk I promise, it was just over a 2 hour dinner! We tried the blackberry margarita, the blackberry sage lemonade, the sunrise sangria and 3 dirty beefeaters martini. I tried the margarita which was good and easy to drink and the sunrise sangria which was sweet and despite having a couple different spirits was so fruity and smooth. The sip of my husband's drinks I tried were also good, nothing overly strong which is good for me, maybe a bummer for him lol. My mom enjoyed their lemon drop martini and my dad enjoyed dirty vodka martinis. For the food we all did the 4 course meal, because it's easier and a better value. We did ask them to do 2 different cheese for the 4 of us which is easier if you are in a bigger table w/ 2 burners but Alex was so cool about helping us out. Course One: Alpine Cheese & the Four Cheese. Both were good but Alpine is the best. Course Two: 3 Bacon Parm Salad and 1 Caesar Course 3: My dad did filet, teriyaki steak and shrimp, my mom did all Mushroom Ravioli, we did the filet, the garlic pepper steak and the mushroom ravioli. Everything was so good but the mushroom ravioli was my dark horse option and I LOVED it. I wish I saved a bit of the cheese fondue to mix them for an unhealthy & indulgent treat. Course 4: We got the Turtle Fondue, I had a few bananas and strawberries but we were honestly stuffed at this point. This was the moment my mom was waiting for, she didn't even want to use the dippers, she picked some of the candies nuts out of the chocolate and enjoyed when the rest of us surrendered. I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful experience but hopefully this convinced you to go and ask for one of our two incredibly men to serve you! The 1st course was decent; there was plenty of bread and the cheeses were acceptable. The rest of the items available for dipping consisted of very small amounts of broccoli (literally less that two florets per person), some celery, and a handful of baby carrots (cold, as if just poured out of a bag from Giant Eagle). The salads were fairly good, but unremarkable. But the entrees were abysmal. Those of us who ordered meats had approximately 4 ounces of tiny cubed beef or fish, a handful of mediocre vegetable bits, and some sauces for secondary dipping. Lastly, the dessert portion was acceptable, but the quantity and selection of items was fair, at best. Given the cost of the meal (after tip and taxes averaging $90 per person), the experience was disappointing. Nevertheless, I tipped our server 20% since he did an okay job. This was our first time and we were very hesitant because of the mixed reviews. We knew it would be "pricey" going into it, so that didn't bother us. We ended up ordering a la carte - Wisconsin cheddar for our cheese appetizer, Land and Sea entree (we spilt it), then ended with the Turtle chocolate fondue. This was actually cheaper than purchasing the two options they provide on the back of the menu, for two people to split. One might think that it's just dessert that you can fondue, but you can have a full meal from the melting pot. They have a standard set where you can enjoy a combination of meats and dessert. I would suggest getting the full experience and have a full meal here from start to finish. You start with a cheese fondue as an appetizer, followed by a salad, then your main course (choice of meats and seafood), and finish off with a delicious dessert. The four course dinner for two is only $99 and you could be adequately full. Melting Pot is more for the experience of having fondue and not really a "I would come back multiple times" kind of thing. I don't think I would come back unless it's to introduce someone else to this experience again. The service here was great and the menu and process were explained to us in detail so that we knew what we were doing. Great experience for first timers who were intimidated by the overwhelming menu and choices. There is free parking in the mall but you may have to walk a bit because of the layout of the mall. It does come out melted and usable There is multiple dippers of break, pretzel (my favorite), veggies (carrots, celery), and green apples (whihc my husband found weird, but I enjoyed it). We also got cocktails, which I will say was delicious. Drinks are also comparable to other places and I almost want to go there just for drinks. I think I appreciate that there was multiple options that didn't have vodka and the whiskey drinks didn't have bitter in them. Salads were next which is nice to cut through the cheese. The main course is where it gets tricky. You pick a broth and then you cook your meats. So, we didn't get much instruction and the chicken you should cook last (but hey, no one died). I came here during a Black Friday promotion, and it was an interesting experience! I have never been to a Melting Pot, or a different restaurant specializing in fondues so it was a great first! There were not many people at all in the restaurant, but reservations were still necessary. The staff at the front helped me make one before we were seated. For the value, I could not see myself returning unless there was a very special occasion. I found it pretty expensive for what was offered, though they do offer refills on dippers if necessary. There really was not much cheese provided. A single serving included some cuts of vegetables and a small pot of cheese. The chocolate was similar, with some desserts and fruit. That said, we waited at our table 1 hour before food or drinks arrived. In fact our cheese fondue arrived before our drinks. When we voiced our concern, the waitress was really very condescending but suggested the manager. He arrived and offered a half hearted apology and I swear said he would "take care of our drinks". We've been going to TMP for years, it's always been pricey but for special occasions that's OK. This time was different though. The prices have increased and the portions have decreased (the salad was stupid small) and they no longer do table side cheese fondue. The tables don't have enough room to put plates, drinks etc (see comment below where only 2 of the 5 of us got an entree and there wasn't enough room on the table for their plates) and the booths need seat cushions replaced. We were sitting so low we couldn't even see in the pots, felt like I needed a booster seat. Our bill for 5 people was $200, three of us DID NOT get an entree only cheese fondue and a salad, we all drank water and shared two chocolate desserts. Melting pot is soo fun! I think it is worth it for the experience of dipping fruits, veggies, and breads into the cheese and fruits and other yummy desserts into the chocolates. Definitely would recommend the banana foster chocolate... so so delicious. It was the perfect combination of white chocolate, banana and cinnamon. I heard precovid they roasted the top with a flame.... so I will for sure be going back to check that out. The meat was very fun to cook on the grill, and they came with a bunch of different sauces, which were amazing in their own ways. Also, our waitress, Emily, was the best!!! My boyfriend took me here to celebrate my birthday. He completely surprised me, as I never heard of this place before and after he told me what it was, I was excited for a new experience. He had made the reservation earlier and we were seated right away. As I was looking over the menu and the hot plate in the center of the table, my boyfriend got a sour look on his face and went to talk to the manager. Confused, I asked him when he came back what was wrong. Apparently thet offer a special package to celebrate birthdays where the table gets set up with a card and flowers and none of that was there. The manager agreed to void the cost and I received my (wilting) flowers towards the end of the meal. Although I didn't get a card, i got chocolate covered strawberries lit up with a sparkler and someone came to take our picture. We were told they would come back with the picture printed out. Later to be told that the printer isn't working, so if we wrote down our email, they would send it. Well a month later and they still haven't emailed us. Our server was very nice. He explained everything really well, gave us recommendations, and was attentive. The menu is kinda confusing for first time customers so it was nice to have him around. This place is expensive. There's no way around it. About $80 for two people depending on what you get, and of course we wanted wine too. The birthday package also cost $50. But you're getting fresh cuts of beef, pork, shrimp, lobster so it's mostly the meat what you're paying for. The experience of the cheese dipping and the food cooking was fun and I appreciate trying new things when it comes to food. Plus our server being as good as he was, is the reason this review is a 2 star instead of a 1. The "fun factor" doesn't make up for the poor management fiasco. If your customers pay and reserve in advanced for your special birthday package, the manager should follow up with staff to make sure that it's being done. The food was amazing, I definitely loved the Original Chocolate Fondue the best, my date agrees. Where do I start? Very disappointing. My daughter chose this restaurant because she remembered going there as a child once and thought it was amazing. I reserved on line for 6 people, indicating this was a birthday celebration for my daughter. When asked if I had any special requests, I indicated her favorite vegetable for the fondue, since she had it there before and really liked it. Upon arriving, we were seated at a booth. There was no social distancing, as the booths on either side of us were in use and we were back-to-back with other guests. The table top wasn't cleaned off very well. The seating was VERY tight. We literally could not move our arms and were squeezed in there. I asked the hostess if we could please have a larger table for this reason. She said she would see what she could do and then said there was nothing else available. I saw much larger tables in the back of the restaurant that remained empty for the rest of the night. The waiter was very nice. He's the only reason for the one star that I gave. The food tasted pretty good but portions were small. For 50.00 I had 3 pieces of shrimp, 3 2-inch pieces of chicken, 3 2-inch pieces of salmon, 3 2-inch pieces of steak, a few bread cubes and a few pieces of fruit with melted cheese. Dessert for 20.00 consisted of a few one inch cubes of brownie, pound cake, rice crispy treats, fruit and melted chocolate. I understand that I'm paying for the concept of fondue but i expected a little more for that price. Most of us had soda to drink, we agreed it was pretty flat. My husband had an Irish coffee and said it was very good. The experience of eating fondue style was very enjoyable, except for not having enough room at the table to comfortably do it. The waiter came to the table with the check and asked if i knew about "the 6 or more guests policy". He explained a 20% gratuity was automatically added. I didn't know but didn't want to embarrass anyone at the table so I just said it was fine. That bothered me but what bothered me even more was that by this point it was apparent that waiter had no intention of celebrating a birthday for my daughter...the vegetable I requested was never brought out or even mentioned; no one mentioned her birthday. We heard other tables being sung to for birthday dinners but not ours. Obviously the staff hadn't even read my reservation. Her brother felt bad and walked over to the waiter and discretely and let him know. He came back with a plate that said happy birthday. I don't know if the passage of time caused this restaurant to lose its ability to make a customer feel special or if we just were unlucky and came to them on a bad day. What would have made it better? Simple things- acknowledging that we needed a larger ( cleaner) table, and seating us there, so that we could relax and enjoy our food. This was one of the most disappointing meals I've ever had. The food is expensive, and perhaps it is high quality, but how would you ever know. The steak (and everything) is boiled in a bland broth to a tough chewy gray that makes me think of prison food. $150 later I couldn't wait to go find something with some flavor. read more
