So today my son and I found this little gem on our travels. What a nice surprise. It's a nice little quaint diner but when you walk in it just feels comfy. I loved it. The Bee Gees were playing lol and the staff were so nice and welcoming. Prices were nice as well. There wasn't a breakfast item more than 10$! My son got the sausage and gravy and it was delish. I got the creamed chipped beef over biscuits. Soooo sooooo good and bad plenty of big pieces of the meat not like some places where you gotta go fishing for it! I definitely wanna come back and try out their lunch and dinner items. To me this place is what a diner is supposed to be like. This place is a true hidden gem! Rarely, if ever, do diners ever rate 5 stars. Most of the time, they are an average experience with hum-drum comfort food. I was pleasantly surprised that this place did not follow the stereotype. We were greeted by a smiling gentleman at the front counter/register and he led us to our booth. Our server was a delight as well; she was super cheerful and judging by the lengthy conversation with a regular in the booth behind us, she definitely enjoys her job. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak which I've come to realize, in New Jersey, means chunks of chicken with a slice of cheese in a roll. It came out in a decent time and our waitress gave us extra pickle spears in the side since we had offhandedly mentioned we enjoy them. My grandmother enjoyed her sandwich as well. As others have mentioned, portions are generous, so we ended up taking 1/2 of our sandwiches home. Pricing was decent as well; I think our food was $7.99 and $8.99 (chicken cheesesteak, fries, pickle, and Cole slaw). I really miss NJ diners. So when my family and I were looking for a place to eat during my visit, I headed for the nearest diner. They don't have booths with jukeboxes, but everything else fit my romantic memory of what a NJ diner should be--gleaming silver outside, a counter with stools, and an extensive menu that includes breakfast all day. I have never found anything like them in the West, despite places calling themselves diners. I ordered a tuna melt. What I received reminded me that the default portion size at diners is "gargantuan." Four half-slices of toasted rye with what appeared to be an entire can of tuna atop each one, topped with melted cheese. I had several meals from this order, making the price one of the best deals in town in my opinion. My sandwich(es) came with a generous mound of fries, too. My teenage nephew, who has an appetite like--well, a teenager--ordered French toast, potatoes, and eggs. He went home with a lot of box of food to finish later. How did it taste? Good. Not fine dining, sure, but reliable comfort food at a good price. That's what I expected, and that's what I got. And I loved every minute of it. read more

No matter how many people are there, I don't think the wait has ever been more then 5 minutes. The staff was friendly and personable. The food has always been great and the cost is great. We have come in just the two of us and sat at the counter and a group of 6 and had the huge table in the back, never had a problem with either. I've only had weekend breakfasts here so far. Favorite nearby place to grab a bite with friends, despite being a somewhat average diner, more or less. Lunch isn't at all expensive, and everything is cooked well. The food here is amazing. I love jay you can request how you'd like your home-fries cooked. This place would be five stars based on taste of food but the service was spotty. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed and stressed. She rarely stopped by the table but can often be spotted lightly jogging to and from places. All in all the food was great and for that we will return. I will start this with the waitresses are really nice. Each one helped us with a smile and apology. We went with our 2 kids. Girls liked their food just fine. Our 6 year old got the spaghetti and meatball. She ate it up! So must have been ok haha. Our 8 year old got the chicken fingers and fries. She liked it ok. The chicken fingers were definitely of the frozen in a bag type. Husband got pancakes and asked for potatoes with gravy on them. He liked the pancakes. But they gave us syrup in like the packets? Kinda gross. You think diner you think at least warm syrup in the container that is always sticky but you know it's good. And they put brown gravy on his potatoes. Miscommunication there. We figured we would get like white gravy. So that was a definitely miss for us. I got French toast. You could tell it wasn't fresh at all. Was really bad. The texture and consistency was way off. I hated it. I forced down some so I wouldn't be hungry anymore. So I give this place a 2. There are soooo many improvements that could be made. In the future I'll be going to a different diner where at least the French toast is fresh. read more

One warning - the Italian sausage option is spicier than your normal affair, the fat coming off it was red from the spices. My new favorite diner in Jersey. Smaller dinner with very friendly staff and cheap food with big portions. The couple of times I've had the Ragin' Cajun omelette and breakfast quesadilla. Usual "cajun" dishes are just loaded with cumin but this was damn good and they didn't skip on loading the breakfast quesadilla with the goods. Even the simple things like burgers are fresh with plenty of bacon. Huge portions of home fries also. The good and bad is this place is about a 15 minute drive for us so it does prevent us from being here 5 times a week. I can see why this place has been voted best diner in South Jersey numerous times. read more

With the exception of the mumbling hostess, we had a great first experience at The New Berlin Diner. Our server was friendly and quick. I ordered the Western Omelet (4 eggs!) plus Hollandaise Sauce (of which the quality of is how I judge all diners!). Delicious! Fresh and yummy. Toast was typical and the huge portion of home fries were browned and crispy to my liking, but not my favorite part of the breakfast by any means. While there we found out that some organization has rated TNBD the number one diner in South Jersey four years running! I can see why. Just wish they served Coca-Cola products! read more

Very fortunate to have worked in the Berlin area a number of years ago and remembered the Diner on our way to Phila. today. Place is spotless and very dinerish (if that's a word). Very busy when we stopped in at about noon. Looked at menu and thought, wow breakfast until I noticed the omelets were made with 4 eggs. Way too much for me looking for a light lunch. Very friendly waitress. Ordered the Godfather Panini and wife ordered meatloaf Panini. Disappointed in Godfather Panini, but probably not Diners fault. Meats should be cold, not hot. Sandwich got better as it cooled. I ate it all so it could not have been that bad. Bread was the hit of the sandwich. Would order a cold sandwich next time. Wifes Meatloaf Panini was excellent according to her comments. Both served with plenty of french fries, coleslaw and pickle spear. read more

So my boyfriend and I came here after we found this place on yelp when we were in the area. And I am so happy that we did. When we got there it was pretty full and the parking lot isn't that big, but we got lucky and someone was leaving as we pulled in. I was so surprised by how delicious the food was. We stopped here following a tiring day of taking the kids to Diggerland. A search on Yelp for nearby places with good reviews yielded this diner. New Jersey is known for its diners, especially in the southern part of it, and even bad diners in this area are still often better than than those found on other areas. I was born in south Jersey, so I may be biased, but I digress... The ambiance is that of the classic diner, packed with locals and early-birders (don't know if they offer an early bird). Waitress was friendly and competent. Menu offered a few Greek selections (an unwritten requirement for diners, mind you), but not enough for the connoisseur of baklava and hummus. Bread included selections of sweet cheese bread, cinnamon rolls, and corn bread. Nothing short of wonderful, though the amount of cheese was a little on the sparse side. I ordered the veal parm special, complete with cream of chicken soup and pasta along with a Caesar salad. The portion of veal was huge! Though everything else was underwhelming with respect to size. The red sauce was very heavy on the pepper. My dessert was rice pudding. That was probably the most underwhelming part of my meal. It sort of tasted like boxed vanilla pudding with slightly undercooked rice. Still, it was a decent dining experience. My dining companions reported that their meals were very good. I ordered the Caesar salad with a side cottage cheese (Eww! I know...Dr. D, if you're reading this, know that I've taken your advice to go on a diet). I took a bite of the grilled chicken and was thoroughly impressed with the flavors and tenderness. The salad was grated with fresh parmesan cheese and sprinkled with stripes of raw carrots. The dressing was thick, tangy, and hearty. The side of cottage cheese was surprisingly large (probably because most people don't order cottage cheese at restaurants), and very filling. I absolutely hate every single bite, but that had nothing to do with the restaurant (looking at you, Doc D.)... Overall, very good food and friendly service.
