Amazing nitro cold brew. We were so impressed with how rich and creamy it was (without adding milk or sugar!) You smell the sweetness and the natural flavors of the coffee with every sip. Space is not crammed at all. Super airy and spacious with plants everywhere. The vibe and the people in here seemed really southern Cali chill. There's seating inside and outside. In addition to coffee, they have a light food menu as well. I ordered the Pesto Mozzarella Tomato Toast. I took over 20 minutes to come out which I thought was ridiculous for a coffee shop. I would not have ordered it if I knew how long it would take. They must get a lot of food/take out orders and maybe were backed up. Nevertheless, it was delicious and expertly toasted to perfection. I got the buzz (lol caffeine jokes) on the brand new The Nitro Bar after my recent visits this week! And I do mean visits, plural! The Nitro Bar's AMAZING coffee is enough to warrant a return literally the day after I went for the first time, it's just that darn good! The funky and hip owners, Audrey and Sam, have taken their business to the next level with this location in the City by the Sea after success in Providence with a brick and mortar coffeehouse and all over Rhode Island with an adorable little cart that travels to farmer's markets and private events serving up delicious cold brew to the masses. They've taken what used to be a local hair salon and transformed it into an airy, inviting space with tons of natural light, tables to work and hang out, and a full service kitchen that turns out some of the most impressive coffee shop treats in town. We got to sample a wide array of their offerings, everything from a fabulous Avocado Toast, which gets a much needed pick me up from a squeeze of fresh lime, to the Cowboy Cookie, their signature treat, a chewy homemade cookie packed with oatmeal, nuts, coconut, and sea salt. It's incredible in tandem with one of their fancy nitro lattes. My boyfriend tried the "Dirty Wafer", which is espresso paired with foamed milk and chocolate. It was really yummy, and you could taste the freshness of the coffee. Nothing burnt or oversteeped here! They make all their flavorings in house, and I love the simple signature Nitro Cold Brew with a shot of their Madagascar Vanilla Syrup. The Nitro Cold Brew is inside a pressurized system, so it comes out like beer would, with froth that gives it the texture of a drink with milk, but it's completely dairy free. I don't really love milk in my coffee, but the Nitro Cold Brew solves that problem for me! Yay! This is my new favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood, especially since I never liked coffee before I discovered Nitro Bar. I am a huge fan of their Providence location, which is 5 minutes from my house. I was excited to find out they were coming to Newport, 10 minutes from my job! There's plenty of street parking, and this location is nice in that it's not directly in downtown Newport but it's still close enough. It's been open for less than a month and I've already been here on so many lunch breaks. I love everything about this place - from the drinks (my usual is either the Wilbur or a chocolate bar), to the cookies (the cowboy cookie is my favorite), and the breakfast sandwich. The option to add CBD to your drinks is a plus. The decor inside is so pretty! I love the layout and shelves behind the bar. There is also a window where you can see baristas making food in another room. Be sure to ask for a loyalty card when you order - you only need to visit 6 times before getting a free drink. read more

Such a cute coffee bar! As soon as I walked in I was welcomed with the smell of coffee. The coffee was strong and delicious and so smooth. Oh dirty wafer, I'd drive hours to have you... I'm usually a hot coffee girl, black no sugar, but this sounded interesting... I like anything that starts with "dirty" and I wasn't disappointed. It was creamy but not heavy, it was sweetened but not in the squinty way that makes you wish you had a bottle of water handy, and it was predominantly COFFEE. Really good coffee. I feel like the Nitro Bar was really needed in this part of town. It's a very short walk from Newport Hospital, so it's a great stop if you're visiting someone there. It's also just great on its own! I regularly go to the Providence location and like it, and I had a lot of expectations going in. I will actually say that it exceeded my expectations because I really liked the interior! The Providence location is quirky and located in a bike shop, but it isn't a place I feel comfortable hanging out for a while since seating is so limited. The Newport location seemed larger. At 11 on a Friday, I sat down at a table with my laptop and got some work done for a few hours. There was plenty of seating available. There was certainly noise, but it wasn't so loud that I couldn't concentrate (which is always the case for me at Starbucks and many other coffee shops). The interior was clean and well lit, though they could wipe off the tables a little more frequently. The food and drink options are great and constantly changing. Thanks for always having vegan and vegetarian options available! They're also really great about accommodating food preferences and allergies. I don't know how it is if you have a severe allergy, but I enjoyed my vegan (veggie) sandwich to which I added egg, cheddar, tomato, and removed some of the veggies. It was delicious! It wasn't huge, but I was happy with how filling it was. Importantly, the woman at the counter was very pleasant and accommodating as I made all the changes to the sandwich. Seriously, thanks so much for being so accommodating and kind! You don't find that everywhere. I also loved the chocolate chip cookie (soft and slightly warm but definitely fully cooked and somehow also crispy in a few spots with good quality chocolate chips) and their seasonal special: nitro cold brew peppermint mocha latte infused with Oatly oat milk on tap. It was delicious! I love oat milk and use it in coffee daily, but the drink was extra smooth (probably?) as a result of being on tap. You should know that the prices are a little more expensive than other shops, but I feel the value is definitely worth it. I would give them all my money if I could (I cannot). I don't recall if they have a loyalty program. If they do, nobody reminds me about it so I leave every time wondering if I should have gotten a card punched or stamped. It could be sitting in my wallet for all I remember. But if you don't have a loyalty program, perhaps one could be started. I'm fine paying $7 for a large specialty coffee, but I would love my loyalty to be rewarded if possible. A reminder would be kind perhaps via a sign near checkout? I ended up being there so long that I also got an iced hibiscus tea to go. It was delicious! Thanks for using packaging that does not require a straw. My brother ordered the regular chorizo burrito and found a very long hair intertwined inside. I ordered the breakfast chorizo burrito as well. I would not consider the meat in this burrito as chorizo because it was more like a dry brisket - not sausage. I would recommend only ordering coffee from here. I love everything about this place - from the trendy minimalist interior to the bright and inviting mural outside. I've tried the s'mores latte, the dirty wafer and the bagel with lox. Not one thing disappointed me. They do tend to get lines on the weekend so keep that in mind if you're ordering the food. I could also see people complaining that the prices are high; however, it is comparable to other trendy coffee shops. This was my second time in Newport and I was delighted to see this new coffee shop tucked away from the tourists. I had to wait a while for my food after ordering but it was understandable since it was busier than normal over the 4th of July holiday. Prices are standard for a hipster coffee bar-- not expensive but not cheap. Food and drink offerings here have a little something for everyone. The only thing I can fault them for is that faulty door and that half step than anyone can easily trip over when entering and exiting the cafe. read more
