I haven't been here in over 15 years. I couldn't remember why I stopped coming. We used to go to the Hollywood location that is now closed. Someone posted a limited time price rollback which was only good for the month of January. We went on the last day. The classic 3 course meals were only just under 16 bucks! That is a great deal. The decor is dark wood and old fashioned in a cool way. We made reservations online. We got seated immediately. The sourdough bread was hot and fresh! The salad was really good. It was sizable. The balsamic salad dressing was delicious. We also ordered the cheesy garlic bread. It was hot, soft and yummy. I would definitely order it again. The little spumoni was a perfect ending. It's not 5 stars for 2 reasons. The first is the service. It's a pet peeve of mine when they don't clear the salad plates before bringing the entree. I ended up having to ask someone to please take my used plate. The other issue was the spaghetti. It's kind of funny that the least memorable item was the pasta and namesake. It was just "meh". If you're a train fan, lover of chain restaurant style pasta (think Olive Garden), or in the downtown Fullerton area then Old Spaghetti Factory will be right up your alley. Not really claiming to be an authentic Italian place, OSF is the kind of place that families come for gatherings or people come for a moderately priced semi-nice experience. The restaurant is heavily train themed with train decorations, a red trolley you can request to eat inside of, and a view of the train tracks (this OSF is located at Fullerton train station). The food itself is plentiful for the price. Everything comes with soup or salad, bread, main, and an ice cream dessert. You'll be full. The pasta is a bit on the soft side but their white clam sauce and mizithra cheese is actually pretty good. It's also very kid friendly. read more

Alright, overall. I'll break down all the items. Minestrone soup 7/10 This was very salty. I couldn't even stomach the broth. The salt content ruined it for me. Sourdough bread 3/10 Way too hard! You couldn't even bite into the bread it was so hard. The outside and ends were not editable. I love sourdough bread, but I've never had to so hard you can't eat it. Mizithra cheese and browned butter 7/10 It had good flavor. But for me, I need sauce with my pasta. I'm glad I ordered a side of Alfredo to put on top. That made it a thousand times better! Mushroom sauce and meat sauce pasta combo 7/10 Not bad. These two sauces together were very acidic. Maybe an Alfredo sauce with one of the acidic Spinach and artichoke dip 2/10 Not my favorite. Unfortunately this rating is because of the incredibly BAD parking. We have been coming to OSF in Fullerton for decades, but it looks like that has come to an end. What used to be available parking is now strictly for Amtrak and Metrolink which leaves all the restaurants with minimal parking that doesn't require walking blocks. I remember going to the Old Spaghetti Factory in Hollywood as a kid. This is a very charming and spacious location with adequate parking. The restroom was very clean. The restaurant has a train theme and you can see an actual train pass by in the parking lot. We had a large family get-together here for lunch. We had salad with balsamic dressing, fresh sourdough bread, choice of spaghetti with meat sauce, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, or alfredo with chicken and broccoli, and spumoni or vanilla ice cream for dessert. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and although it was tasty, it could have used more sauce because I was left with some dry/plain noodles at the end. The place was very welcoming. We revered for 14 people and they only started setting the tables together when we got there. I got the lobster raviolis which were delicious. But two people though there wasn't a lot of sauce that came with the pasta and requested extra. it's was an additional cost. They were skimping on the sauce though. Unfortunately, this was my worst experiences at OSF. We were here celebrating an anniversary and Christmas. Service, Sam, was fine. The food - the chicken Parmesan, specifically, was probably the worst I have ever had. And then the pasta was even worse. The entire meal was not edible. Really nice olden day vibe in here! Reminds me of a beauty and the beast vibe really nice for an upscale family place. I really loved their clam pasta with a lot of Parmesan cheese and a dash more of salt. I got it with a side of Italian sausage and it was so perfect because you get the best of both worlds with a tomato base from the Italian sausage and then the white creamy sauce from the spaghetti. I have been coming to this location since I was a little girl. It's one of the places my grandfather would take my family when he came to visit. I'd order the Italian cream soda just so I could keep the glass. I love the soup and bread; however, what I really come here for is the Chicken Marsala...this entree alone makes it worth the drive for me. Another bonus is the free ice cream or spumoni that comes included with your dinner. This is an extra bonus for those of us with kids. Free dessert. Nice. I think some consider the interior of the restaurant to be dated; I say it's awesome. Another parent tip:ask for a table in one of the trolleys. My kids still like the idea of this even as teens. I've always loved the old spaghetti Factory growing up - in Newport and in Duarte. I loved the historical buildings and the interesting furniture and ambiance. It was not like the other restaurants. I also loved the good food and service so much that I asked my husband to take me there for Valentine's Day. He did a wonderful job of making a reservation a week ahead. :) When we walked in, the hostess walked us all the way back to an add- on patio and took us to this tiny little 'normal' table wedged in between multiple party's which had multiple people, kids, balloons and presents. Since it was special, and we didn't want to feel like we were sitting in just another fast food restaurant, we decided, to change our seats and asked the hostess. Since we made a reservation, we felt we deserved to be at least sat in an interesting comfortable place, maybe a booth or one of the tables with fun chairs? We were able to wait a moment till they found something else. I mean it's a giant restaurant and it has lots of fun tables! We watched People came in and out for about 10 minutes. Parties of 2,3,4 - all sizes. They still didn't seat us. In fact, we finally stood up in the waiting area, because the front desk girls all seemed to be forgetting about us.... No mention of 'we'll get you a table soon'. When I finally got up to the main hostess standing around, and I asked if they had anything available soon. (I mean, we had made a reservation) She gave a snarky smile and paused for a good 30 seconds (awkward) and stared at me like I had no business asking her such a question. lol Her still staring at me with the high school mean girl smile, I say, 'we can sit at a 4 person table.....' and she finally snaps with , 'there's nothing open for you right now. (They literally just sat 10 small groups - mostly walk ins) Finally something opened, still mediocre, but what can we do? They obviously didn't really care whether we had a reservation or not. The food was good, our server was sweet, but the experience was unfortunate and tainted my opinion of the place. Update: I appreciate the nice comment back from customer service. I am willing to try the place again & possibly give more stars as I have loved the place in the past. I just hope there is a nicer hostess next time. Been coming here for years and usually after a show at the small theater across the railroad tracks during the holiday season. We've been to half a dozen different locations and they all offer the same menu and standard of food. It's a great place for a reasonably-priced meal and an experience that offers the perfect balance of upscale and casual, with a timeless rail-car theme that adds an extra touch of ambiance, fitting for an Italian restaurant. Service here has generally been decent, but this time we were served by Jon, and he has since become our gold standard for wait staff. He made some great suggestions, was patient and unfazed in taking our little one's order, made sure we had everything we needed (like red pepper and napkins) and checked on us throughout our dinner without being intrusive. The guy was absolutely on his game. By the end of the night, he felt like a family friend, and we believed him when he said he hoped to see us again soon. My family and I were at the end of a stressful week and just looking for a little comfort food at a decent restaurant, but we left feeling relaxed and put at ease by a great experience. Thanks, Jon! This has to be a Fullerton landmark because it's been here forever. First time coming here was in college and I think they literally have kept the same menu since that time. Recently visited because at the last minute I decided to order out and they were open after 8 p.m. Ordered the mushroom ravioli via their website and clicked to checkout and then was hit with a series of questions: soup or salad, bread or no bread, spumoni or vanilla ice cream? For $21.95 I got a whole loaf of Italian bread, minestrone soup, mushroom ravioli and a scoop of spumoni ice cream! My food was ready in about 15 minutes and there was no wait to pick-it up. Inside, it looks like a place you would eat at before catching the train back in the 1920's. Very dark wood, classy, etc. It's not my go-to Italian spot in Downtown Fullerton, but you get your money's worth here, the service is great and the ambiance is unique. read more

Just had the worst experience ever at The Spaghetti Factory. We were there to celebrate a birthday and the service was awful. First off it was super slow. We saw other tables go and come before we ever got our food. One entree was wrong and took so long to be fixed my niece thought she wasn't even going to get her food. It was still wrong when it came back out. This wasn't even a complicated order. When couldn't seem to flag down or server and believe me we tried. We couldn't even get spoons to eat our ice cream so that was an experience. We really tried to be patient the entire time we were there, but after waiting an age to pay we decided to cut our losses and pay at the front. The hostess told us we couldn't pay there and to go back to our table. That didn't sit well with us so we asked to speak to the mgr because we were just done. The mgr didn't address any of our issues, no attempt to find out what happened, no attempt to make it right, not even an apology. I've never had a more disappointing restaurant experience in my life. How this person became a manager is an absolute mystery to me. We will be escalating this further up as it is clear the manager doesn't care at all about the customers in the least. read more

I used to visit the LA location when I was a teen, and now, living in Orange County, the Fullerton location has become my go-to. This time, I came with a friend and her 7-year-old daughter, and we were seated in the trolley--a fun touch that the little one really enjoyed. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip, Jumbo Lobster & Crab Ravioli, Mushroom Sauce Spaghetti, and a Caesar Salad with Chicken. Every dish was spot on. The flavors were great, and everything came out just as expected. I write very few, if any, negative food establishment reviews but I was compelled to rate my experience here.... I have been going to the Fullerton establishment for almost 40 years. My wife and I loved it so much while dating that we had our wedding rehearsal dinner here in 1991. We haven't been back for quite a while so we thought we'd eat there for the sake of of nostalgia. What a disappointment! We went early evening so it wasn't crowded. We were seated immediately but then had to wait so long for a server that we had to summons a hostess to get one. It took a long while to get everything. When we were finally served, he bread was good, the salad was not, and the spaghetti I had was below par at best-- not very hot and super low on meat sauce and mizithra cheese (shrinkflation?). The tiny chicken parmesan that my wife had, however, was the worst we've ever tasted anywhere by far. We wanted to get our bill, but again we had to wait forever for the server to give us our check so we can go back and relieve the caregiver for our disabled son. The price overall was basically in line with what you would pay everywhere else nowadays, but the quality and service was so poor we will not return... and that's a real shame. read more

FYI if you are GF or have allergies they will not substitute. You have to pay for the 3 courses no matter what. I asked if instead of the bread and ice cream (which I have allergies to) if I could have an Italian cream soda and the manager said no, I would have to pay extra. So just an FYI, if you are thinking of coming here. Also we were told by our waiter before we ordered that we could use 2 coupons if they were on separate checks and at the end the manager told us we couldn't.
