Heavy hand I must say, last place we visited in Solvang, we left very wasted. Weird option as tasting Stella Rosa. . . It was the Stella Rosa Black but still weird. Kind of a cheap wine to have on Flight. . . but over the place was cute and had samplings of olive oil which was very different but I had already spent money at the oilive farm in Los Olivos. The staf was helpful and informative but I wasn't wow'ed and the prices were good but I was tapped out at this point so I LEFT WITH NOTHING. I would definately come back for a flight here. read more

The Olive House is a must stop if walking around the Solvang streets. It has amazingly cute and unique gift items for the gourmet chef in all of us. Great selection of oils and oh yeah....WINE!! Jeff (the owner) makes his own wine and he's usually the one pouring for you so it's great to ask questions about how the wine was made, plus it's very affordable. Came here last month. The lady behind the bar was excellent! She was very helpful and informative, explaining each wine and olive. This was the first time that I've paired wine with olives and the experience was wonderful! I did buy a jar of garlic olives and a bottle of Twenty Mile Merlot. In reading the other reviews, I think the "man" everyone was talking about is the owner of this joint. I did see him there for a few minutes before he left and for the time that he was there, he did seem very obnoxious and rude. Very disappointed. On a weekend getaway with my husband, walked in the facility, was excited to try several of their wines. Was told they were offering no samplings, unless you were part of the wine walk that was going on over the weekend. I don't know how a business wants to turn away potential customers. Not one other business that we walked into that weekend told us this. They were all more than happy to let a sample their wines, and by their bottles. My wonderful man and I loooove wine tasting, and are in love with Solvang. We paid a visit for the day just today.... and decided to try the Olive House. We walked in with high expectations since it was recommended by a friend of ours. I was very disappointed to find out that their Blue Cheese Olives are the ones that I tend to stay away from at the super market. And believe me, I LOVE blue cheese olives. Jeff Feeley is sixth generation to Solvang and 100% awesome!!! He is the type of pourer that will make you leave a tip. The sparkling Riesling was our groups favorite. Most of us chose not to taste the reds. The blend of Grenache and petit Syrah made Sena Marie my favorite of the reds. When we moved to the oil & vinegar tasting rooms our expectations were exceeded! I'm not a foodie so I cannot describe just how delicious the peach vinaigrette was. Then the strawberry, and chocolate and the...you'll just have to try it for yourself. Ynez was our wine host on Sunday, this past weekend. She was fun, informative and very helpful. She gave us great pairings with the wine, took photos with us and suggested the Triple Berry Sweet wine over brownie and ice-cream for dessert! Now THAT is service! I really enjoyed having the olives paired with the wines. We decided on the Sangiovese to purchase. I have cooked with "Santa Barbara" pestos and olives. They are really tasty. I'm not really a green olive person, but I enjoyed these paired with the wines. Again, have lots of wineries to go to on our next trip, so unlikely we'll go back...but it was great fun and a nice treat to have the olives vs. the dry crackers at other places. I'm not sure who the middle aged man is who did my tasting, but he needs to change his attitude. He's not engaging and seems bored about the fact that you even showed up at all. It's a really cute tasting area, but the attitude has got to go. They have really decent wine and I've been going primarily for the sweet wines, because there is a limited amount in the valley, but save your money and go to royal oaks or kalyra because they are much nicer. We absolutely love The Olive House! They have the best olive oil, we buy full wine bottle sized garlic, which is the best garlic olive oil ever, and of the rosemary! They are both delicious on everything from steak, chicken, said etc. They are the sweetest people! This past weekend we stopped in and they didn't have any of the large bottles prepared but they offered to run to the ranch and make us some! I love this place! The Olive House/Twenty Mile Wines was our 1st tasting stop and we had to go back to make this our last stop before heading home. Jeff was an absolute delight, he has such a great, fun, witty, sarcastic sense of humor and can dish it out and take it just as well! We shared so many belly laughs and even taught him a cork trick! The wines and olives were just as great!! We could not decide which wine we wanted to buy! I think between the 3 of us we walked away with at least 1 bottle of each varietal. I know I bought the Pinot Grigio and the Syrah. I also bought the Serrano Pepper Jam. OMG, this is AMAZING! I have finally found a pepper jam that offers the perfect amount of heat. Much like MC's reviews we had a very similar experience. We had just been to Lucas & Lewellen and were told to go here to try their wines. I hadn't expected them to have in house wines since it is called the Olive house but apparently they do. Their selection of olives is great, especially with almost all of them being local. We would have probably purchased a few bottles had the girl behind the counter been even the least bit interested in having customers. We walked around the olive showroom then walked over to the wine bar area intent on having a wine and olive pairing. Only then did she even remotely acknowledge us. Not welcoming at all, she made it obvious she was just there for a paycheck and couldn't care less about what she is doing. The entire time we were there she was talking to some guy who was not a customer and it sounded like they were talking about stuff in her personal life, not work. I hope the owner reads these reviews and does something about her. We would like to come back and try their tasting but I doubt we will do it as long as she is around. read more

this was one of our favorite stops for wine tasting because each tasting is paired with a specialty olive! we stumbled (literally) into this place by accident. after having been to a couple wineries already and checked into our lodge, we wanted to take a stroll around town. knowing that by this time (around 5PM), most tasting rooms were closing but we saw this place was pretty poppin', so we were the last two couples who were lucky enough to sneak on it before the doors closed. there is a small tasting room right next to the retail shop where they sell jars and jars of olives. the pourer behind the counter was friendly but with a slight loud and obnoxious sense of humor. but it was honestly perfect for the group of us that were there! $10 gives you about 6 tastings. each olive you get with the tasting is unique and pairs so perfectly with the wine! my favorite was the olive stuffed feta cheese and the olive stuffed almond. i've been to a few tasting rooms around town and this is definitely on the top of my favorites! read more

We were excited to come across an olive and wine bar but quickly shocked at the dismissive, rude, and unprofessional man working there. There were only 2 girls sitting at the wine bar, he refused to acknowledge us as we looked around. Then said loudly that he "hated tourists, couldn't stand them and hated dealing with them every day." If that's the case why would he willingly be working in downtown solvang, one if the most touristy places in southern California. I politely ask him if he is doing olive or oil tastings ? He shrugs,gives me a distraught look, shakes his head and says" well You see im the only one here, I don't know what you want!". I am not even going to discuss the wine...good or bad is irrelevant. The guy working here is an ass!!! He made weird and inappropriate jokes! He asked if I was a lesbian because I didn't show interest when my boyfriend walked away and he made some creepy remark! I didn't even taste the wine, but rather drank it as fast as possible so we could get OUT! This was our first tasting room in Solvang and the only good thing about it was the fact that every other tasting room and winery we went to were like breaths of fresh air!!!! My husband loves olives so why not try the Olive house? Our experience here was unpleasant. The man serving behind the counter seemed like a dispassionate meathead in the wrong profession. He seemed like he couldn't wait to get this over with. He sloppily served us wine with olives, splashing juices all over the counter. He gave us curt and sarcastic responses when I tried to ask for more information about HIS wine. The only time he may have seemed slightly interested was when my husband asked him about the quarterback's picture on the wall, which was his cousin. Then proceeded to tell us how much money he made. I went online and purchased olive oil and vinegar for a friend for her birthday. My brother and his gf went to the area to visit and purchased these as a Christmas gift. I fell in love and just had to find where I could buy them and have them shipped! I finally found the website online and on March 9, 2013 I placed my order. On March 20, 2013, I still had not received my order and there was no tracking number provided by the Olive House. I called them and the owner very honestly stated he found my order and did not understand why it did not go out. He told me I should be receiving it in one day since I live in California. It is now March 26, 2013 - 5 days AFTER my friend's bday - and I still don't have my order. I love these, but don't know if I will order from them again. read more

The house is nice on the outside but quite small on the inside to my surprise! Half of the things aren't even olives from Olive House. But I have to say the one jar I purchased did a killer on me: Habanero stuffed olives. I must say Habanero in any form is SPICY to the T! I experienced it all after 2 olives: ringing of the ear, sweating, mouth burning, tearing up, and my thinking process down the drain for a good 15 minutes. NOT only that, it travel downwards later on and destroyed my stomach. I really really enjoyed that part...not so much! read more

We took our first family vacation with our 9 month old and have been warmly welcomed by each winery we've been to. He is a genuinely happy and well mannered baby. Until we got to the Olive House. They claimed there is a rule that when serving wine no one under 21 could be there and rather than accommodating us and offering to take us one at a time she acted as if she could care less about our business and just restated the rule.
