Horrible service! The Manager/owner was rude. Will never come back! We got to the restaurant at 8:30 pm. My husband ordered a Philly Pepper cheesesteak and I ordered the Fish and chips. We paid and gave them 20% tip. 8 minutes later they said they don't have the fish and chips anymore! So they offered fried chicken to substitute and I said okay. They served the food at 8:55 pm. The owner was so rude, gave us the food we ordered and said we have to hurry and go because they are closing at 9 pm. So we left! My husband's order was awful. I've tried three different places for Philly Cheesesteaks in Seattle: TOP, Tat's and Calozzi's. All three have claimed to be the best. And they're all very delicious. I recommend all fo them. My favorite, though, is still TOP. I like it when menus aren't really big because that usually means (in my experience) that they are good at what they make. When a menu is really big, they lose a bit of flavor. The menu at TOP is a decent size. I don't know what those 1 and 2 star people are talking about. Sure, the place looks rundown and not entirely aesthetically pleasing, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. The staff is nice. The food is good, juicy, flavorful. I came here with a friend once, and we liked it so much we went back the next day and at there again. And they remembered us. This is comfort food. That's what this place is. The cheesesteak fries are good, the sandwiches are good. It's not fancy. They are filling and fairly affordable. Would I come here again? I think I've done that a few times already. :) read more

It's a very select menu but there are awesome steak and chicken sandwiches to choose from, plus hoagies, fish and chips, wings, chicken, steak or regular cheese fries, and just regular fries.The fries here are delicious plus the portion of fires you get are insane. Philly's is located right on the corner of MLK Way and Rainier Ave. It's not a very big place so the seating is limited so I would suggest ordering it to go. Philly's has a great atmosphere with some famous people's pictures on the wall. The Pepper cheesesteak, which costs $7.99 for a full and $4.99 for a half, is my absolute favorite with an order of regular seasoned fries for $1.59. When I displayed it to the cashier(who happened to also be the owner) he looked at it and did not even realize that he signed up his business for this offer! Here I am visiting his biz for the first time, and he ends up giving me a hard time about it My food sat in a window until I walked up to the counter, obviously it was not to go, but the owner is a jerk and he does not like white people. . That is not how you win customers. While the sandwich was fairly tasty, the fries were obviously frozen and then thrown into a deep fat fryer to warm them up, sure looked and tasted like Orida to me! Friends of ours ate here the other night and they both loved it. I had to give a shot because it was near me in Beacon Hill! Just a mere 5 miles from my house. How could I NOT GO? There is a parking lot -- HUZZAH! It had about 6 spaces and I really wouldn't want to even try to think about looking for parking during peak hours. Inside isn't too bad. I know some have complained about it being dirty, etc. After living in India, this place was freaking clean as a whistle. The girl at the counter was so nice and helpful - don't understand what the complaints are about it. She made a suggestion for vegetarian hubby and he loved it. My friend, son, and I were hungry while driving around exploring Seattle. We stopped here to test the advertising that claimed their cheesesteaks are the best. The broken down food truck in the parking lot was a bit off-putting and the place is kind of a pain to get into/out of, but we gave it a go. After the surly man behind the counter took our order (2 Deluxes and a pizza) and told us that they were out of straws and napkins. Everyone needed a bathroom break. That was....educational. It took quite a while to get our food and by the time it arrived, a very loud local group came in to watch whatever game was playing on the tv. Honestly, with the way things started, we weren't optimistic about the food. At all. Something happened after we each took our first bite of cheese steak. Everything changed. Suddenly, the obnoxious people behind us was a harmonious chorus. The long-forgotten food truck seemed to shine with a little pride. A very friendly man asked us how our food was and all we could do was nod and keep stuffing our faces...in spite of having to wipe our hands on our pants. We didn't like those pants anyway. These cheese steaks are freaking delicious. Seriously. They get away with the dumpy settings because they're just ridiculously good. I would like to preface this review with the fact that were this restaurant in Philly, I would NOT be giving them 5 stars. They are getting rated so high because the "Seattle factor" makes it impossible to get a GOOD cheesesteak out here. Now that that's out of the way. Original Philly's is actually a decent cheesesteak. Its definitely the best I've had in the Seattle area. Considering I practically lived on cheesesteaks when I lived in Philly, it's been a tough transition. They use the best bread of any cheesesteak joint in the area, and they don't put odd out-of-place spices on the meat like Tat's does. They sell cheese fries, which to me is an integral part of the cheesesteak experience. They aren't the best, but they do their job. The restaurant has that distinct Philly feel to it, too. This would likely be a 3-star cheesesteak place for me in Philly - and considering how horrible the quality of cheesesteaks are here in Seattle, that's pretty damn high praise. read more

My son wanted to give the place five stars, but he didn't have to extricate the car from the parking lot (appropriately described as "awkward in another review). The food, however, made the automotive gymnastics worth it. I got the pepper cheesesteak, Lucas opted to try the regular version (this was his first cheesesteak, so like any good scientist, he wanted to establish a baseline for future comparisons). Both were awesome: plenty of well-seasoned meat (no gristle) held in place--for the most part--by just the right amount of melted cheese (but not so much that it oozed out onto our fingers). The peppers on mine gave a nice heat. As an afterthought, I picked up a couple of the bite-size pies they sell (the peach was great, the pecan very good) for a buck each. The proprietor didn't have three $1s to make change for my $5, so I asked if he wanted to add an order of cheese fries ($2.99) to my order--he did, waved the tax, they were delish, win-win. My boyfriend loves Philly steaks sandwich, so we decided to give this place a try after we read the reviews on Yelp, and with a entertainment book coupon for $7 off from their website. So when we walked in, it seemed like there were maybe 4 or 5 orders ahead of us with one guy who was the cashier/chef. So he took our orders from the kitchen asking what we wanted because he was busy cooking. My boyfriend ordered a full sized Philly steak sandwich with the pizza sauce, and I had a half order steak sandwich deluxe with a side order of chicken wings for take out. Total wait time: almost 40 minutes. Well, while waiting for our orders, we haven't paid by this point yet because he was busy by himself. Finally another help came along, so he was ready to charge us while we presented him the coupon. Oh, he took it, but while mumbling at the register "I thought I told them to discontinued it already." At this point, I was thinking maybe the portion will be different because of the discount? Anyway, it just does not make customers feel good when you complain about your own discounts that you signed up for. So when we came home, both sandwiches were actually good portions for very reasonable prices. I'm just going to be honest that I don't know what an "original" Philly steak sandwich should be or taste like, so I'm not going to comment if theirs was better than other restaurants, but the price & portion I could give a 4 star!! Chicken wings.... oh man, they were soooooo good, if I went back, I know I'm only getting the wings!! From the frying color on the them, I know the oil gets changed pretty frequently, they were nice golden crispy. There were lightly seasoned but with good flavor, the meat was tender and right off the bones, yum!! The sign on the outside says that it is the best sandwiches made but I say different as well as my friend. We both ordered a deluxe steak sandwich with a side of steak cheese frys. I did ask for more peppers and was charged for it. What we got was pathetic. They put less peppers on mine and more mayo. The mayo was so bad that I had to throw the bread away. While scooping out the meat and lettuce; I found that they did not put peppers in mine at all. The steak cheese frys were also tasteless. All you could taste was the nacho cheese that they poured on the top. In all, I was only able to eat a small amount of steak covered in mayo and nacho cheese. Good grub and for great value. I called in for take-out for some munchies. Waiting inside, they have some TV's on sports channels and 2 pacman table machines if you want to do those. The space is alright for what it is, but I think their focus is on the grub. I had the half pizza steak with a side of fries. They gave me cheddar cheese fries but it was fine with me. The lady with the short hair was friendly and cool. I tried a sample of a locally made sweet potato pie - good! Ventilation could improve since you can see a subtle haze of smoke but it's tolerable. For two sandwiches and a can of Hawaiian Punch, my total was a few cents under $20. As far as sandwiches go, for that price I'd much rather have a fish sandwich in West Seattle or even make the trek up to the Northend for some Paseo's. - The sandwiches were long, but not very wide, meaning that there wasn't actually a ton of substance to them. If I were super hungry, one probably would not suffice without an order of fries or a side to fill me up. - It was hotter than hell inside that place and also not very clean. - The parking lot is small and awkward. I've been here a few times, but never reviewed it before. My last experience was definitely bad enough to never go again. My friends and I recently purchased some Eversave (like groupon) coupons for this place. We went in with 3 of them between 6 of us. We placed our order and the cashier noticed we had the coupons so she asked the Owner about it. The owner then got an attitude and said "I ain't taking all of those". They let us use 1 coupon, but didn't even apply the discount correctly. Half of us left. lol The food is ok. I wouldn't say it's gross...just ok. Sandwiches are decent, but our cheese fries were cold. The soda machine was also broken. It's also kind of expensive here. Remember when this place was the old fish n' chips joint? Philly cheese steaks done right and damn good Italian hoagies to boot. Chopped up steak mixed up with cheese and your choice of other toppings. The surprise for me was that the other night, Mrs. T was craving a cheese steak, but I on the other hand saw the picture of the Italian hoagie on the counter and said "That's the ONE!". I felt like Cliff Huxtable from the Cosby Show drooling over what would be one of the better sandwiches I've had. Deluxe Cheesesteak - the steak is chopped so small that it blends in with all the cheese and from a texture standpoint, it doesn't even feel like there's steak in the sandwich. Peppers, onions and especially tomatoes were skimped on which didn't help because I love those toppings. It really felt like I was just eating a cheese sandwich. Again, not having tasted an authentic cheesesteak, I might be judging unfairly, but I still prefer the cheesesteaks I get from the mall - even if those break the bank at over $10 for one. Not only does it have the best cheestakes I have every had (although I have not been to Philadelphia), but it also brings back memories of my highschool days when the Original, Original Philly's was in the Central District. This is by far THE BEST CHEESESTEAK in Seattle. No other establishment can make a philly cheesesteak like this one. For just $7.99, I get a foot-long Deluxe Steak which consists of thinly, sliced juicy chunks of steak, melted white american cheese, grilled mushrooms, grilled peppers, grilled hot peppers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo in a 12-inch soft baguette. When I bite into it, all of the drippings meld into my mouth and slides from the corner of mouth, down my chin and onto my clothes. I never care about this because the sandwich is so delicious, that I just don't stop eating until I have finished my first half of the sandwich. I save the second half for another meal to make it more cost effective. Another great meal deal is the Cheese Fries with Steak for just $4.49. This side -- or main meal if you wish because it is so humongous -- dish includes a mound of crispy crinkle cut fries with juicy thinly-sliced pieces of steak, melted cheddar cheese, and grilled onions served on top. The oozing cheese all over is very copious. If you add some of the hot sauce in the squeeze bottle on the counter, the dish gets even HOTTER!! Only negative about this place is that there is quite a wait for your order because there is usually only one cook and one person at the counter for very many customers. But I don't care, because every minute I spend waiting is worth it. The food is that good and I never have any complaints about my food. This is a family-owned business which I completely support. Shute, I even support them when I go to a Seahawks game and their truck is waiting outside the Seahawks store. And they charge $6.00 instead of $4.99 for their half deluxe cheesesteak. So I came into this joint expecting greatness reading the reviews prior and word of mouth from another friend as well. Unfortunately, I was not blown away. First of all, when you walk in the place is very dirty and run down. I didn't look too far into it as the taste of a good cheesesteak would definitely overrule the overall "soot" feel to the inside of the restaurant (greasy baseboard, dirty tables, dirty bathrooms). I ordered my steak deluxe with fries and came out to a rather cheaper price. So far so good. When I got my steak, I got the large sized and my girlfriend ordered the regular size. From a meat-to-bread ratio, the regular just KILLED my large size when it came to meat. Mine definitely had more blank spots while hers was overflowing. That was initially dissapointing. Also, there was barely (if any) cheese inside of it! It was mostly mayonaise! So I had this mostly bread, mayo filled, no cheese sandwich sitting in front of me. Granted the steak was very tasty and mushrooms as well, it just did not sit well with me.
