The chicken looked like a frozen patty there wasn't any sause they gave me buttered noodles that was so dry like they sat under a heat lamp ordered buttered mushrooms and they were dry also .wasn't impressed don't think I will be going here again. I had better chicken parm at olive garden at a quarter of the price. My family paid almost 500. For this meal I felt ripped off. Don't know why they think they can charge this much for average food . I made a reservation a week in advance. When we arrived I couldn't find the hostess. So for anyone going, walk down the ramp to the bottom and you will find the hostess at the bottom of the ramp area. There were no signs or anything letting you know that. We were seated immediately. Our server, Robert, very nice man waited on us. Our group ordered 3 brandy old fashioneds and I ordered a spicy margarita. It was delicious. I ordered the steak au poivre which came with a potato which I ordered mashed. It also came with soup or salad which I ordered salad with vinaigrette. The table gets free bread with the meal which was nice. Our food came fairly fast. My steak was very good. But it should be for $59.99. My significant other ordered ribs which he said were good but he's had a lot better other places. I will post a picture of our bill. I have it a 3 due to the dinner being extremely pricey and my friends broccoli being forgotten about. Robert did comp it off the check for us even though it was eventually brought out. We have been going here almost 40 years, never had a bad meal or service, white table cloths add a nice touch, always consistently good. Grand Steer filet is melt-in- your-mouth delicious, bbq ribs are very good, fish fry and old fashioned as well. Wish they would bring back the shrimp de jonghe appetizer. What an amazing dinner experience tonight in Wisconsin. The hotel clerk recommenced this place as first on list to try. To the first step in the door with live music to the elegant dining room atmosphere, it was spot on. I ordered the JUMBO shrimp cocktail. Succulent and fresh shrimp with a homemade sauce. It in itself was filling. Next up a tossed greens salad with homemade blue-cheese dressing. Just the right amount of crumbles of cheese and you can tell this dressing is scratch made. A nice touch is the fresh white bread loaf served upon seating. The 16 oz. Porterhouse pork chop was seared and grilled to perfection. Tender and not dry at all for the size of the cut. Pan fried/sauteed green beans and carrot slices. I had the baked potato, it was just the right size for a large entree protein. Some places give you a big baked potato that is too much for a meal. I'll say it again, scratch made sour cream with a hint of herbs... this kitchen is a "scratch made" wonderment. The floor manager Summer asked me how everything was and I had high compliments. She told me to save room for dessert. She told me they have a homemade (of course) banana cream pie. I told her that is my favorite growing up. On my birthdays mom made that since I don't like cake. When I told Summer my b-day is in 6 days she sent a "pie on the house" with my server, Robert. The pie had a flaky crust and lined with bananas on the bottom. The homemade (of course) whipped topping was smooth and just as creamy as the pie filling. The toasted almond slivers on top are a nice combination to the dessert. Yes, can't forget Robert. What a great server and attention to detail, he didn't miss a beat. Perfect timing for refills and very knowledgeable of the menu. He has been a server his whole life he told me, and it shows in all he did. On a side note every Friday night they have a Fish-Fry, and the traffic is backed up in the drive thru from open to close they told me. Well, two nights in a row. We were in the area for Harley exhibits. Donned in Harley gear they welcomed us both nights. First night the waitress told us to pick a table and we took one she didn't want us to sit at (vibration from mechanicals below). Still awesome!!! Second night I called and asked for the table whit the white orchid in the niche'. Really she said, table 27 by the bar towards the bathroom, I told her yes. Would be a perfect table for three. We probably took what they believed to be the two worst tables and they were two perfect tables. We had filets, prime rib, the au privore, onion straws, cheesecake and crémé brule. My daughter and I stopped in for dinner around 6:00 p.m. on Superbowl Sunday. It was quite busy so we opted to sit inside the bar area. We sat at a table of our choosing and the bartender brought over menus shortly after. I ordered a Valentine's day Salmon special which came with a side of asparagus, green beans, and rice. The meal was good and all the ingredients were fresh. The Salmon was cooked well and not overcooked. The steak was very small for the price. I have been to many high-end steak houses and this one is one of the priciest for what you get. That's one reason I would not recommend the Packing House. Plus the onion strings were cold when the meal came out. Overall enjoyed the meal with my lovely daughter. It was good food, but pricey. read more

Casual classic supper club. Solid service and a nice pour. The Escargot was delicious. Such a great way to start things off. French onion soup was good. Not a game changer but satisfying. My husband had the tenderloin and enjoyed it. It was a perfect cook and not overly seasoned. I had the rib eye and added on 3 broiled shrimp as a side car. The rib eye was good. Another perfect cook and seasoned well. The shrimp were okay. The garlic butter they were served with was good but I was surprised at how small the shrimp were and would have preferred as a broiled offering that they had been butterflied with a little flame to them. read more

We finally made it down from Green Bay to take my mom out for her birthday after the snowstorm from the previous weekend, good ol WI weather. We started out in the bar for some old fashions and they were delicious! Valerie our bartender was friendly and made some awesome cocktails! There are 3 names we will remember: Valerie: The amazing bartender. Lynn: Our truly wonderful friendly server, and Leo: our spunky funny water boy! what a great experience we had for my moms 80th birthday! The service was truly outstanding. Packing House: Opened nearly 50 years ago, the Packing House is still family owned. The restaurant specializes in steak, but also serves BBQ and seafood. My family went there for dinner to celebrate my brother's college graduation back in 2017 (I'm a little late posting this review). I can't recall the cut of steak I ordered, but it was delicious. We came for the world famous "fried fish" on Friday night. It was amazing! The fish was cooked to perfection. Fresh and just lightly battered with a flaky touch. Service was excellent. The staff were super attentive and constantly ensuring things were well. They made great recommendations and we even top it off with a great desert. Ambiance was that of a family setting. We are traveling and the restaurant was recommended by our hotel. It was very good! As the ribeye was very large, I asked if the restaurant would allow us to share. We were told it was an additional $10 BUT that included a second salad and side! Great deal for a very good ribeye and still more than we could eat. Basically on the level of your Chili's Had called 10min before the reservation start to let them know we'd be 5 min late due to a traffic accident but hostess? instead lectured us that we needed to be on time as much as possible ..... Guess what, checked into our 7p reservation at 7:03, waited til 7:21 to get seated ( the restaurant itself was behind and had to seat 2 other parties before us) So what's the point of a reservation and why are you reprimanding guests to be on time when you are taking almost 20 min to seat your guests?? Actual waiting/cooking staff I think did their best, but you could tell they were all tired from the holiday. We had to remind them a few times for missing items throughout the meal. Bread and butter for example came After the entrees...sauce I requested at the beginning came halfway through the steak, etc. ‐---------------------------------------------------------------------- Food: Christmas holiday so they ran out of some proteins . That's not surprising...but they ran out of baked potatoes....let that set in...baked potatoes... Steaks and salmon were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Mushroom and shrimp cocktail apps were okay. This is your typical Wisconsin supper club in the best way. One of the BEST fish fry's in the state. Definitely make a reservation, the place fills up fast. We got bacon wrapped water chestnuts and it is a hefty portion for the price. The fish is 3 big pieces of fried cod and it's cooked to perfection. the French onion soup is some of the best I've had. Both the service and the food were excellent! The fried eggplant appetizer was delicious, and the portion was more than 4 of us could handle. Two of us had filets that were cooked to perfection, and two had chicken Parmesan that they thoroughly enjoyed. We invited guests to dine with us & they were new to the Packing House. Apparently if you make a reservation for 6:30 & arrive early, you will not be seated. The seating person said we would "have to sit in the coat room or bar for 12 minutes" & someone would come & find us at 6:30. In the bar, 2 in our group wanted to warm up with coffee. The coffee was almost cold & the young man was short with my husband when he requested our bill be added to our dinner check, which Packing House no longer accommodates. After appetizers, our server disappeared & refills of beverages sat empty until our main course was served. One guest was told the fries were being prepared & would be right out & we were told by our server that beverage requests would also be a bit delayed as well. After 6-7 minutes of waiting, both were finally served. Unacceptable to eat without our drinks or a complete order. Again, server disappeared. Our table was not cleared nor were we asked about dessert or take home boxes. We had waited long enough & asked someone walking by for the check. The check she was able to bring immediately but made no effort to clear anything. Turns out we were given the wrong check. My husband , embarrassed at the series of events, took the wrong check to the reservation desk & it turns out the manager was the one who brought us the wrong check. He explained the unpleasant series of events to her & was actually told that our server had a party of 16 to take care of as the reason for the delays. He told her that our party of 4 deserved the same fine dining attention & experience as a larger party. It would have been appreciated if she knew that, to stop by our table to explain the service delays instead of making excuses. Our server finally came to collect the correct bill & tip & at that point asked about dessert & to go boxes? Upon leaving, the manager wished us a " Merry Christmas'. Grab-and-go drive through Friday Fish Fry is always quality! It's cash only and the fish is hot and ready. It seems to be the same person serving the fish every time and she's always on the ball. The system works and the line moves quickly. As for the food, the fish is crispy and tasty and so are the fries. They also pack the food very logically so nothing gets messy, greasy, or mixed together. If you're looking for a fish fry to go, this place will not disappoint you! read more

We are still searching for a good fish fry for our Wisconsin Friday nights. We tried the Packing House and we were really pleasantly surprised as the bar is very welcoming and we really enjoyed the house bourbon old fashions. We were told they would come find us when our table was ready, but after waiting 5 minutes after our reservation time we went to see if the table was ready, and it was. We were immediately seated. We sat for a little while waiting for our waitress and that ended up being our new normal. We ordered as pictured the baked cod and my wife got the fried perch. There was a camera crew and an interview going on, which was obviously for the restaurants PR. It was a little in your personal space. Unfortunate. Then the food came, it took a while, like a 25-30 minute wait from soup/ salad to entree. The fish was flakey and delicious. The scallops were over cooked rubbery and fishy. The potato pancakes had a really weird taste. I did try ol roy dog food growing up, because I was curious, but that's what the potato pancakes tasted like. Unfortunate. I'm going to go back because I want to try their Beef Wellington. The bartenders were awesome. The staff is doing their best. But I will be back, I just won't be having the potato pancakes or scallops. read more

We went to The Packing House for dinner on a Friday night and it was a mixed experience. Our group was looking for a supper club and this is the closest thing to one in the Milwaukee area that doesn't require reservations a week in advance. Having been to The Packing House before, I thought this was a safe choice. Upon arrival there was a 45 minute wait for a table. No problem, we posted up at the bar for a round of drinks. After waiting for a few minutes for a bartender, some seats opened and we sat down. The bar service was less than spectacular. They didn't clean the bar top after the previous people left. And the bartender took our order and then took awhile to fill it. This bartender seemed pretty new and easily distracted. We ordered a brandy Manhattan, Grey Goose Dirty Martini and a Blanton's. The Blanton's was overpoured, win for us but lose for the bar. The Manhattan was done correctly and the dirty martini was sweet. No idea sure what happened there. We were finally seated and our server was really good. Very friendly and knew the menu well. Our group ordered a T-Bone, Pork Chop and the Adult Fish Fry. The soups and salads to start were all good. The entrees arrived and we started to eat. The pork chop was undercooked. Again, good server, she took it back and brought out a chop that was cooked thru with extra veggies. I wasn't a big fan of the fish fry and fries. The breading was not good and the fries were that battered style which can be hit or miss. All of it was a miss for me. The T-Bone was the star of the show, the only entree that was cooked correctly and tasted good. The bill arrived with the undercooked pork chop still on it and that was the end of the night. Overall a disappointing experience. Also, the next day two out of three of us were not feeling well. I won't be back to The Packing House. read more

This was an excellent experience for my very first supper club! The atmosphere was quiet and intimate, but casual. The service was attentive and prompt, and we loved our waitress!! Very nice ambiance. I called about an hour and a half prior to see if I could squeeze in a reservation! Even though they close at 8:00, they were still kind enough to get me in at 7:30. Very classy supper club. I ordered the steak, and lobster tail , with a side Cesar salad. Steak was so tender, Maine lobster tail tasted very fresh. And the service was impressive! There was a discrepancy on our bill and when the first manager chose to come to our table- not even make eye contact and treated us SO DISRESPECTFUL- not even giving me a chance to respond (probably because we are a minority family) then a second manager comes- gives the parent to child hand clap, behaving unbelievably condescending and talking to me like she's scolding a child.... Date night dinner. The older of the two hostesses was a little dismissive when we were checking in for our reservation. We had to wait a little bit in the bar and with it being a Friday night they had some entertainment which sounded so good. I almost wished we could have sat longer to listen to him. Our waitress was amazing. I think her name was Kayla. She really did a great job. The food was good. I ordered the garlic stuffed steak and being a garlic lover I expected there to be more garlic flavor but none the less it still tasted good. We got dessert to go. read more

My grandson and I usually go to our favorite restaurant The Packing House for dinner. Last night, Wednesday was pretty busy and as usually were greeted by Autumn with a big smile and were seated immediately. We started with their delicious cream of asparagus soup, hot bread, and their excellent zucchini Strips - the piece de resistence was their outstanding Roast Duck! My grandson and I could not stop raving about how crispy the orange glaze made the skin crispy and how juicy the duck was. The wait was well worth the time that the Chef took to prepare this duck. The wait staff is always great, but the staff last exceeded all their standards. Our busser was so accommodating refilling out water and coffee, taking the used dishes so not have our table cluttered and our waitress was on target providing our food nice and hot. Outstanding effort on the wait staff. To finish off our fantastic meal, we saved room for The Packing House's banana cream pie! What a fantastic dessert. This Friday was the first time in a while that we've visited the Packing House. I have to say, it was as good as I remembered, if not better! They make a really good cocktail - as is only fitting for a supper club-type place like this. For starters, we decided to try the escargot. Wow, those things were enormous and the butter they were swimming in... it was so good we just had to soak it up with some of the tasty bread that came with our meal. Being Friday, the fish fry was my choice, but my wife Amy had the steak au poivre. She had a nice salad with her meal and mine came with some delicious clam chowder. I really liked that they offer a combination fish fry with both cod and perch - and potato pancakes! All were fantastic. Amy's steak was perfect and came with a cognac sauce that was just amazing. Our only regret was that there was no room for dessert after our meal - we both remember the terrific banana cream pie that they serve. Oh well, maybe next time! read more

My wife and I went to a friend's birthday party at The Packing House this past Friday. The last time I was here was about a decade ago. This restaurant has a unique charm about it, a bigger place than I remember playing Christmas and Frank Sinatra music throughout. Anyway, let's get to the food. I ordered a 16 oz boneless ribeye medium rare, rice pilaf along with a clam chowder. The steak was cooked to perfection, it could have used some more seasoning The rice pilaf was terrible, I sent that back and they gave me some green beans with no seasoning on them, but they were edible. The clam chowder was good with some nice chunks of clams in the soup. My wife got the Caesar salad with salmon. She said it was good, but the salmon was a bit dry. Overall, a decent meal with a couple of hiccups. Does the place rank higher than other steakhouse I've been to, like Mr. B's or The Harbor House, no, but The Packing House is certainly more of a bargain than those places. read more
