I absolutely LOVE The Patio. The ribs are delicious. (Used to live down the street and you can smell them cooking in the summertime with a slight breeze) The french fries are good, The burgers are big and juicy. Even the beef and chicken is good. It took practically 15 minutes to get our shakes from the little side shack from the little 16 year old boy, but that's about the only downfall. The food comes fairly quickly. And if you eat in, theres plenty of their own delicious BBQ sauce to slather all over everything. I am not a big fan of their brisket, which is my test for an excellent bbq place, but the ribs and other sides were pretty good. Went in this afternoon and ordered a pulled pork sandwich. Specifically told them NO pickle on the side. The taste makes me throw up. Low and behold they bring me a sandwich that has a pickle. This is after me telling them 3 times no pickle and the cashier writing in bold NO PICKLE. So I send it back. They bring me another sandwich. I try talking to the manager and he is rude as hell. I've been going to the patio restaurant for around 30 years since the chain started and have been a loyal customer. BUT they try to run you thru the restaurant as fast as possible. My wife and I went to the Bollingbrook location for supper last night. When we ordered I asked the cashier to hold off sending the main course out till we finished our soup & salad. I'm not exaggerating but 30 seconds after getting our soup they were putting the main course on the table. They did this same thing several times in the past which is why I tell them to hold off till we finish our starters. Sorry to say I will be cutting down my visits there. read more

The FIVE star review just reflects what i think of their Chicago-style hot dogs. If you do not live in quick access to a Portillo's, then The Patio is a great spot to hit for their hot dogs. I've always been very bullish on there not being many good places in the area that offer what IL is somewhat famous for: a Chicago style hot dog. You'd think there would be tons of places that do it right. Not so much out this way. If you aren't up to driving to Portillo's which is the best dog i know, please give The Patio a shot. It's actually a worthy substitute much to my initial surprise. Their dogs are filling (not thin and wimpy) and done the right way... up to Chicago Style standards all-around. The ribs cannot be beat. We bring out of town visitors here when they want ribs. The fish tacos are surprisingly very tasty. Not attractively served but quite good. Skip the BBQ nachos. While the meat is tasty, the chips are right out of the bag and covered with a lame cheese sauce that tastes right out of jar. The Patio is the restaurant that my husband and I return to regularly. We find their food to be consistently good. Orders are taken quickly at the register, they have enough cashiers that there is never a long line. Food is cooked and delivered to the table quickly, so it is still hot. Unknown as to what happened to the patio Bolingbrook. My guess is this particular franchise (location) changed hands. The quality of the food has deteriorated considerably. A "pulled pork" sandwich ordered on Tue. 8/11 was not pulled at all -- chunks of something that resembled meat (what kind was a mystery) smothered in BBQ sauce. Could not finish the sandwich, a waste of $. Thought it might just be a fluke, so on Sat. 8/15 ordered a beef brisket sandwich. Big mistake. Sandwich was mostly fat and gristle, again smothered in BBQ sauce. What little meat there was tough and obviously undercooked. (smoked?) Could not eat this mess at all -- again a waste of $. The Patio has been known for years to provide quality BBQ at a fair price, can't understand how the quality went downhill so quickly. Whoever (or whatever entity) oversees the Patio franchises should look into this place and get the menu back on track. Otherwise, you're going to be losing customers -- and business. Has anyone else out there experienced the same lack of quality (and indifference) that I did? I refuse to patronize the Patio until this problem is corrected. read more

Today my wife and I ate at this restaurant the food was excellent restaurant was clean and service outstanding. But something really caught my attention a young man working very hard cleaning tables sweeping floors when he came to our table he was very polite and courteous. I know his job wasn't easy but he was doing it with pride and I had to talk to the manager about him and I did his name is Xavier she has received a lot of compliments about him. good place! i like that its kinda fastfoody without FEELING like it. you can bring your kids and feel like you're at a grownup place but not feel bad if the kids make a bit of a mess. :) i am not a ribs person, but they have good fries and grilled cheeses and its nice that you can get a beer too. :) read more

I have been eating at The Patio for the last 30 years. I usually get the BBQ chicken but between me and my wife and 3 kids, we've tried just about everything on the menu. Everybody always leaves happy. The menu is huge. If you have special dietary needs (My wife is usually on a diet of some sort even though she looks great to me) it's never a problem to have them customize a dish for you. 3 stars for the food. Actually the food is better than 3 stars. The problem is the service has gotten increasingly bad over the last several years. They went from pleasant to rude to (today) down right complacent. They don't seem to like to work or care how they treat their customers. No greetings when order (by someone who seemed dressed like a manager), no thank you, no eye contact, no how is everything, they practically make YOU work for THEM. It wasn't even crowded. I live in Naperville, so this is the closest Patio to me, but I'm not going back. I have eaten here with my wife several times. The food is good and they have a wide selection. We like the idea of placing your order and paying and then the food comes. Sometimes its nice to not have a waitress. Nice and comfortable. We have noticed they raised their prices quite a bit this year and a couple of times the tables and chairs have been neglected and were dirty. Not filthy, but not clean. Overall we like it. I've been going to the patio in Willowbrook since I was 15 years old. Now 20 years later we moved to plainfield have tried most of the menu and not had a complaint except that they changed the brisket meat some years ago. About 3 months back we cut meat out of our diet eating mostly vegetarian and some fish we still love the patio! Tonight I ate the salmon for the first time...it was outstanding!!! I write this in review of service, not the food; The food is consistently good. However, my experience with the restaurant manager last night, 12/28/15 at 6:45 p.m. left a bit to be desired. I ordered 2 - 32 oz. containers of the Cream of Chicken Rice Soup for $9.99 each. I was told that each container feeds 4 people. However, I only received 2 slices of bread per container. When I asked for more bread, they wanted to charge me. WHAT?!! If I had ordered a single bowl of soup, I would have received a piece of bread, right? So, why not get 4 pieces of bread for 4 servings of soup...or 8 pieces of bread for 8 servings of soup?? I asked the manager about this.
