Fried Taro Cake / Bot Chien
    Angelica L.

We ordered through DoorDash and the food arrived in about 40 minutes. Fried Taro Cake / Bot Chien ($14.40): This was just okay. The sauce was good, but the bot chien itself was not crispy. Definitely not worth the price. Banh Mi Xa Xiu / BBQ Pork Sandwich ($12): The bread was not crispy, the BBQ pork was a bit dry, and the flavors were very lackluster. I did not taste any pate or egg mayo and the veggies were sparse. It was so underwhelming that we ended up dipping it into the bot chien sauce just to give it some moisture. We also added Chin-su sauce to help with the flavor. The sandwich was not cut in half either. Pork Chop Rice Plate / Com Suon Nuong ($18): The first piece of pork was really good, but every piece after that went downhill. The pork did not seem evenly marinated, and some pieces were dry. The rest of the rice plate was solid though, especially the fish sauce.

Delicious traditional pho. The menu offers a fusion on Chinese and Vietnamese Pho. Not pictured I got the chicken pho which was delicious. The broth was great and chicken was moist and fresh. All ingredients and sauces were very fresh. Happy we stumbled here before heading to the airport!

My friend shared this place with me and said, "you have to go for their lunch special," so I did! The seating was "sit wherever you'd like" and, once I was seated, the solo woman brought out my menu and my utensils. Cheap napkins, chopsticks, and clean silverware were in the basket. The menu is sort of confusing...but navigating it is easy with the server. I ordered chicken pho with a tofu spring roll. The options were only beef, chicken, or tofu. I wish there had been shrimp! The pho broth is always how I rate a restaurant like this. Their broth was above average & I was really pleased. Their bean sprouts, Thai basil, and other toppings were super fresh. The iced tea was unique but I only got one refill. The Sweet N Low was old and crusty. My biggest gripe was the price (I almost walked out spending $25 on lunch) and second gripe was the chicken in the pho had some tendons and crunchy parts as well as having some hard to chew bits. Tough! I'd go again if I wasn't paying!

I've gone twice and it's still one of the more underrated Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The name might make it sound overly modern, but they actually serve a strong lineup of traditional Vietnamese dishes, including hard-to-find đồ nhậu (drinking food). Last visit we had the goat hotpot, basil clams, and coconut snails. This time, we stuck with more typical lunch and dinner dishes: Bò lá lốt (beef in betel leaves) - moist, flavorful, not overcooked. The best I've had in Austin and I never usually use the word "best" Bò lúc lắc (shaking beef) - tender, buttery, and can be served with egg noodles if you want something different. Bò né (Vietnamese steak and eggs) - same great beef on a sizzling plate, served with pate, butter, salad, and a sunny side up egg. Chè ba màu - surprisingly rare in Austin. This one was close, just missing the beans. Salt & pepper calamari - big chunks, tender, well-seasoned, served with salt, pepper, and lime. They've also got $4 draft beers and happy hour specials and TVs, which makes it a solid casual spot for drinks. Huge space (great for group events or corporate dinners) and they even have claw machines. They're more well-known in the Vietnamese snd ATX Asian Food Facebook groups. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for Vietnamese food beyond just pho.

First time here and when you walk in, you are greeted by a sign to wait to be seated. The restaurant is extremely short staff. There's one person checking out people, handling to go orders, and waiting tables and taking order. I genuinely feel bad for the guy. We came on a Friday evening for dinner. There were a few people seated but it definitely got busier as we dined. Good we ordered: * hot and sour soup- 4/5 definitely in the sour side. Filling to soup ratio is great. Not just broth. * crispy tofu-2/5 the tofu was not crispy but we enjoyed it with the dipping sauce. The perfect bite is the tofu with the red bell pepper. * bun Bo hue: 3/5 not best I've ever had but it's decent. The pork blood was tasty and I wish there was more than two small cubes. I love that they had the traditional pork feet in it. The meat was super chewy. The broth flavor was on the salty side but it needed more lemongrass flavor. The noodles needed 1 more min to cook to be perfect. * coconut milk snails: 1/5 the flavor of the coconut is great but the snails j couldn't even get out. Instead of the snails being in the front entrance of the snails they are all the way in the back and it was super duper small. I've had this dish where it's super easy to just get a tooth pick and pull them out. I'm wondering if the snails were frozen and not super fresh live ones before cooking. FYI: To go boxes and containers are located on the table next to the entrance door. Self serving station. And after eating you go to the cash register and pay or else you will be sitting there a while waiting on the one staff. Would I recommend The pho? Yes I would like to come back and try their pho which is what the staff said that is their favorite over bun Bo que.

I'm on a quest to find the best Bun Bo hue in Austin. I came during lunch so it was quiet with plenty of seating. I was able to get a table for 6 with no problem. The service was great and very attentive. The bbh bowl was. It on the pricey end being $16 for a regular and the trotter and meat was super tough. I like my bbh with much more of a kick and lemon grass forward but if you like more milks bbh this is the place for you.

I wanted to LOVE my food. But, I can't. I'm so grossed out by the amount of hair that was riddled through the beef. I literally almost threw up because it clumped in my throat. Three bites in and 20 bucks out the window because I've had to throw it away. Now my office is gonna smell until the cleaners take away the trash. I seriously can't believe this. OMG, ugh.

Unassuming Vietnamese restaurant near the ACC area. There's plenty of parking around the area and the restaurant itself was spacious and clean. We started with the golden egg rolls, which were the perfect shareable size. Overall, it was crispy and the flavor was good. My lemongrass beef vermicelli was a generous portion. The lemongrass flavor was abundant and the beef was tender. The nuoc cham was addicting; it had a slightly sweet flavor to it. My friend's bun bo hue was satisfactory. The broth was light and the only critique was that it was missing some depth of flavor. Otherwise, it's a good spot if you're not looking to go too far up north.

This place has really perfect Pho-I tried the vegetarian version on a chilly Fall day, and it was amazing! There is cute decor as well as thoughtful touches and great service, too. My mom got the Buddha Delight, and the sauce was really really good, delicate but delicious. I really liked that all of the fresh Basil and bean sprouts they gave me with fresh lime to add to my Pho were the freshest I've tasted in Austin

Vermicelli with Lemongrass chicken and Takoyaki

This place is a great spot in the neighborhood. Takoyaki, egg rolls are very yummy. Beef pho was really good. Meatballs were springy. Other meats could've been more flavorful. Vermicelli bowl is also good with lemongrass chicken. The Thai dishes are just ok compared to the Vietnamese. The prices are great! Great spot to grab a solid meal.

Meh. The service was quick, the staff was friendly. But the food was really just meh. Barely any flavor in the chicken pho/pho ga I had. It was a basic broth with lots of noodles but no real depth in flavor. It's nice that it's close to ACC and parking is relatively easy in the garage next to the building. It satisfied my need for warm soup, but nothing more.

More of a diner/casual place and I can see people coming here for social gatherings. Wouldn't recommend for very large parties though. There is parking behind the restaurant and since the restaurant isn't that big, I don't think it would take long to find a spot. You definitely get what you paid for. We got the hanger steak and chicken and it was more than enough. We got some appetizers because we thought the entrees wouldn't be filling enough but were so wrong. And surprisingly, the main entree entree chicken wasn't dry and pretty flavorful. The steak was also cooked well - wish there was more flavor but the condiments complimented it very well. I would also get the umami wings (well cooked and great flavor). Service is A plus - the workers were all very attentive, personable, answered any questions we had. We had a mishap with our bill and the (I think?) manager was so nice and accommodating. They also have different specials depending on the day/week! Will definitely come back anytime I come back to Austin.

It was extremely tender and the sauce on the bun complimented it very well. It was my birthday and the wait staff gifted me an Ice Cream with Rice Paper Wafers. If I remember correctly, it was called a Thai Movie Theater (could be wrong). Ice cream was drizzled with chocolate, caramel, and fish sauce. Unique, unlike anything I've had before. The Rice Paper Wafers gave it a nice buttery crunch. Wonderful service. Wonderful food. Highly recommend and I will be back!

Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. Ordered the oak grilled edamame from the happy hour menu and it was a flavor explosion with a dusting of serracha powder, lemon zest and white sesame. For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin. Definitely one of the regulars in my list when craving good cocktails with a casual but elevated food menu.

Chef Ling is a brilliant and personable chef who treats her chefs and staff like family. Several different chefs prepared each course, and the presentation was well beyond what we expected, both visually stunning and thoughtfully composed. From the moment we walked into Ling Kitchen, the energy felt warm and intentional. The space is intimate without feeling cramped, and you immediately sense that you are about to be part of something special rather than just another dinner reservation. Chef Ling personally welcomed guests, shared the story behind the menu, and checked in throughout the evening in a way that felt genuine and never forced. Each course built on the last, with a clear progression of flavors and textures. The fish was impeccably fresh, the knife work precise, and the seasoning balanced to highlight the natural ingredients rather than overpower them. You could see the coordination among the team as different chefs stepped forward to prepare and present their dishes. It truly felt collaborative, like a small culinary orchestra. What stood out most was the creativity. Traditional techniques were honored, but there were subtle twists and unexpected combinations that kept us curious and engaged. Every plate was composed like art. The pacing was perfect, allowing time to savor each bite and appreciate the craftsmanship. Beyond the food, the hospitality elevated the entire experience. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly proud to be part of the team. That family atmosphere Chef Ling fosters is palpable and makes the evening feel personal. If you are in Austin and looking for a memorable omakase that rivals experiences in much larger food cities, Ling Kitchen is a must. This is not just dinner, it is a curated, immersive experience. Eventually, we learned we could order at the bar, but later noticed there was also table service available. A simple welcome and explanation would have made a big difference for first-time guests. The drinks were good. I enjoyed the Spicy Watermelon Margarita, and the Dragonade was refreshing. The wings were probably the standout food item of the evening, with a delicious smoky flavor that really came through. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was hit-or-miss. I am going to focus more on the cooked items as most people here already gave their review on the sushi. Hangover ramen, not too bad. It is like Shin Ramen Instant Noodles with a lighter flavor, nice touch with the bean sprout as it is a needed texture element. Add the gyoza into it and it makes it even better. Cucumber salad, not bad at all. It is missing a bit of spice to it. A touch of chili oil on it would kick this dish up a bit. It is refreshing and a must at the table. Truffle fries, please skip this. No salt on the fries if you are okay with it. It is just a bit of truffle oil and Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. It is lacking in flavor. Yaki Udon, skip this as well. Not sure if it was just the day I went but the sauce was not so great. It was this sweet and sour taste but it was swimming on the bottom of the bowl like the sauce was poured on top of it at the end instead of being stir-fried into it in a wok or a pan. The first few bites are okay but the bottom half is just swimming in that sauce. Spicy Pork Bulgogi, decent size overall, not too bad. I would order like kimchi rice to eat with it next time if I come back. I do wish it was a bit more charred just to give it a bit of a textual element to it. also another thing to note, the bathroom is shared with the restaurant next door to it.
