We were in Kuna for a Sunday Rodeo and arrived a little early so decided to go to breakfast. We Yelped and The Pork Belly came up and decided to try it. The pink building was a surprise but there were a lot of cars outside so decided to give it a try. It was busy with only a few open tables. We got one and our hostess took our coffee order. Our coffee came very quickly and we ordered shortly there after. Because it was very busy our meals took quite a while but they made sure our coffee cups were always topped off. Now breakfast is breakfast but portions were more than ample and very good. So if you're in or near Kuna and looking for a good breakfast don't pass up The Pork Belly. read more

Tried this a few times since it opened. It's a traditional diner style restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch items. One of the best plates is the pork belly served on coleslaw. If you're looking for traditional American diner style food, this is the place for you! If you have special needs for your diet, or if you're looking for substitutions or healthier options, this is not the place. They don't have healthier items or ways to really modify your order. They weren't really interested in accommodating myself or my family when we tried them. Went here to try it out against all the reviews. We were excited to have a breakfast place here in Kuna that we could escape to when the kids were at school. Sadly, the food was. It very good. We ordered the chicken fried steak; which the gravy was good but the steak was overcooked and burnt on one side. The chef flipped it and covered it with gravy. The hashbrowns were crispy and good but we were charged for cheese that wasn't on them. Also ordered the poutine. This is NOT poutine. The gravy was sour and they used shredded cheese and over cooked eggs. Adding hot sauce or ketchup didn't work. I can usually power anything down and suck it up but this is the first time in decades that I've not been able to eat something. Lastly, it took 20 minutes to ask for drinks and 10 mins to get water. The coffee is good. I wouldn't recommend eating here. I gave a 2 start because our waitress was kind enough to take my meal off. read more

The Pork Belly owners, Mike and Marisol Larson, divert all Online Takeout Order tips from tipped staff and keep it for themselves, in violation of State and Federal Labor Laws. The Pork Belly owners, Mike and Marisol Larson, completely disregarded employee concerns and discomfort around the new "uniform policy" involving a t-shirt that is sexually inappropriate as required uniform. The t-shirt in question has the picture of the butt of a pig, complete with testicles and sphincter, with the words directly underneath, "get in the pink". Concerns and issues brought to the owners were met with disregard, contempt, and retaliatory treatment of staff, including threat of punishment and termination. The Pork Belly owners, Mike and Marisol Larson have multiple employees who report having not received a paycheck in more than 30 days of work. Including minor children. Wow what a true hidden gem located in Kuna in the old fire station. The ambiance is modern, nostalgic and has a diner vibe to it. Once inside and seated the waitresses working here where awesome!! They both were super friendly and at the time we were there very busy but they hustled and made sure everyone was taken care of. I will start of 1st by saying I am super picky about bbq and while this isn't all BBQ the pork belly I had here today was on point. It was smoked and cooked perfectly with just the right amount of both. For food I had the pork belly hash with potatoes, onions, mushrooms, cheese, topped with 2 over easy eggs and pork belly. This was a perfect blend of flavors and a pro tip order the hog sauce this goes great with anything especially the pork belly! My wife had the The Southerner which consisted of a homemade biscuit, fried chicken, bacon, cheddar, gravy, over eggs and potato side. Another great blend of flavors. One thing I will say is that the portions here are very generous and easily could be shared with an appetizer, but for us we ended up preserving our own and left in a meat coma. Plus they have a coffee bar and a drive up window that starts serving coffee/espresso drinks at 7am. We loved the vibe of this place and we will for sure be back....in a town that is desperate for dining options this is a true high point. Michi Hubbard We love coming for either breakfast/ lunch if you like something wit a little sweet but no over sweet I had the crunchy French toast with chocolate with cream cheese and the wonderful oversized cinnamon roll this we be definitely be our Christmas cinnamon roll for Christmas our tradition and my husband had the poutine and kuna caver hash and it was really delicious and serving are so big so if you are not a big eater be prepared for a doggy bag. Ohh I had also the chicken and waffles wow another amazing dish. No I am the picky eater I could not find anything wrong with any of it ohhh let's not forget the coffee bar great options . Newer place in the old firehouse. We arrived about 10am and had a 20 minute wait for two. As we sat on the benches outside, everyone coming out we visited with and all said "plenty of good" and had to go boxes. Now we are hungry! We were called in right on time and shimmied our way to the back table. The vibe is like diner style, old timey place where everyone just enjoying breakfast. The place was packed so expected slower service but really was pretty quick! Several people outside told us they had the Veggie Hash and added pork belly so that's what I tried. Mr had The Southern & a short stack. Food was out pretty quick and was good, warm and plenty to eat! My over easy eggs were perfect with no goopy whites and the Mr said his gravy ratio to the really soft biscuit was good (he said maybe 1/4 cup haha would have been perfect). Pancakes light and fluffy. The side of pork belly was deep fried vs pan fried.. but seeing how busy it was.. didn't discount. Meanwhile we saw lots of chillins with donuts and such all enjoying this little hot spot! We will be back! read more

I'm sad to say this place has truly gone downhill. The food was cold and our mimosas were warm and service really not great. I ask a young man for some jam and he looked lat me like I was a inconveniencing him. At one point during our meal 5 of the staff were leaning on the counter chatting it up! I was always taught if you have time to lean you have time to clean. Old school I know. Please bring back good food and amazing good service. Super disappointing. I had the Porky's Toast when this place first opened, and was excited to have it again. The menu said it came with lobster salad on the top, which I remember as being epic! When I ordered it, the waitress told me that they don't have the lobster salad anymore, but she could put bacon on it. I didn't want bacon, and wound up paying $13 for one piece of dry toast with half a sliced avocado and an egg. The hollandaise was minimal, although it was drizzled in a pretty pattern. I have tried this place twice now. Both times the service has been absolutely horrid. The first visit all of the staff were high school age girls laughing and having a great time while forgetting they actually had a job to do. It took forever to get the order and it was wrong when we got it. The second time I ordered a pork hash burrito only they forgot the pork. The waitress apologized and got me pork only it was disgusting pieces of fat only. She told me she had a side of pork for me to go only I never got that either. This place is probably one of the worst managed places I have been to in a while. If you are looking for good pork or any for that matter try another restaurant. read more

Wife and I ate here on 8/23 at 1:30pm. My wife wasn't excited about having pork but was excited and pleased with the other choices -- her Veggie Hash, Bacon and Eggs. I was looking at sampling their Pork Belly which I also enjoy BBQing on a Traeger. Had no interest in a full meal like my wife, so I ordered just Pork Belly which came in a small 4 oz cup. I was surprise that it was just small cubes with a brown, dry crust. Some were even thin and harder!! Where was that sticky sauce I coat my personally baked Pork Belly?? These looked like the aged, left over remains from their holding pan just before closing! Then the bill came for $8 for the 4 oz of the non-juicy meat. My 12 oz latte was good. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. We had a table for four and we're seated immediately. This is a diner vibe and they also have a coffee bar. Our service was quick and all of the food was good. I was very hungover but they had a list of delicious mimosas that I would've loved to try! I ordered a side salad and biscuits and gravy to try and settle my stomach. Always great food, best breakfast in Kuna in my opinion. We had the Basic B, two eggs, choice of protein, potatoes, and bread. I got over medium, bacon, hashbrowns, and a biscuit, added a side of their delicious sausage gravy, Labor Day special was only $10 for all that. My son got the same but chose a pancake for his bread, it was huge! They also have a variety of coffee drinks, I had the fireside mocha. Such cute decor as well. I'm not sure what the fuss is about this place. Food was OK at best. Fiancé's waffle was soft and caky. Sausage patty was mushy. The homemade toast is not good at all. Service was atrocious. On top of our order being wrong, almost every table around us were also getting things wrong. This was my first visit to The Pork Belly after getting positive feedback from family members - worth a try they said. Kuna is a nice small community 15 minutes south of Meridian (Boise) on Meridian Road - an easy drive. The restaurant is on the main street (on the L as you drive in) and is easy to find, they are a breakfast and lunch spot, closing at 2 P. Parking is a easy do, we hit the spot at 10 A during the week and had no issues or waits to get a nice table. The place is clean, wait staff is friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is nice (not too noisy but does have a wide screen TV streaming the usual sports stuff). We opted to sit in the action room with an eye view of the kitchen staff - always a good tutorial. Once we got settled, after a quick run through of the menu we opted to go the safe route and went with an egg breakfast spin (I had the Countryside Omelet and my companion had the Basic which is a 2 egg breakfast with protein). The place is really flexible and was open to our request of adding bell pepper and onion to the spuds which was a good fit. The food arrived in a fast turn and everything was good to go. We shared the biscuit that came with the Basic breakfast (Omelet did not come with bread) which worked out well - large biscuit. The staff was back a few times, always hot coffee fill ups and asking for feedback on the meal - nice touch. The word for the day is large portions and attentive staff - good deal for the $$. Here are my suggestions: 1) Order the bacon, it is killer and hard to beat 2) The food could be hotter on arrival, mine was warm but not roasting the way I prefer it 3) The spuds were OK, think next time I will go with the traditional hash browns or take a walk on the wild side vs safe pick. 4) Good variety, I saw a couple of pork bowls come out to the table next to us that looked awesome. The pork belly reminds me of a old diner. I absolutely love it. I would say the food is really good depending on what you get. Breakfast is really hard because a lot of places don't stand out and I think the pork belly stands out definitely in for the meat and the French toast they have are absolutely incredible. This was basically dessert for breakfast and I'm here for it. Again I wouldn't say everything on the menu is my favorite. I had the burrito and it was pretty dry, but they definitely have a fabulous items on the menu, just depends on how much of a breakfast person you are! We used to enjoy the previous iteration of this local breakfase place and were surprised to arrive and find it had changed hands. Entrance was changed, new owners, new menu, new people, new positive attitude! I had the Fried Chicken and Waffle, my wife the John Denver Omelet. I am not normally a fan of very crispy food, or chicken breast for that matter, but this was both and surprisingly tender and good! My wife's omelet was generous and she brought half of it home. First time in was for breakfast on a weekday. They were pretty poppin for a weekday which shows a lot! I had ordered "porkys rancheros" which was supposed to be a has but the waitress or cook accidentally made/submitted "the spicy ranchero" which is an omelette . When I was checking my bank statement, I saw that my card had been charged an extra $12, (16%) even though we left a cash tip and I had written in the exact amount to be charged.
