They need a new menu and or new chef. The Chase used to be a great place to come to but something happened to it these past few years and is not the same. They used to have a lobby lounge with music where everyone met on weekends and that has closed. They need to sell or bring in new management before it's too late. read more

Our group was really disappointed last night coming here for dinner. I think the presentation of the table and the dishes are fantastic. They look visually appealing and you are excited to eat them. However, we found it quite strange in ordering multiple dishes that they came out at different times. I expect that for some of the smaller, appetizer-like items on the menu that more resemble tapas, but not for the couple of main dishes. It was awkward because we each ordered at least one large dish but since they all came at different times, some of us were eating while others were not. Our table ordered the octopus, curry short rib, Moroccan chicken, petit filet, kung pao calamari, and the fried deviled eggs. By a landslide, the winner of our table was the kung pao calamari and the curry short rib. Which is funny, because our server tried so hard to talk us out of ordering the short rib dish. The octopus portion was in line with its $11 price tag and pretty small. The fried delived eggs did not seem to be cooked properly and were pretty rubbery. The cocktail menu, however, was a much bigger hit. Our group tried the Goodnight Mr. Preston and I think the spicy mojito - where they actually light your lime on fire. Service was awkward a few different times. I'm not sure if we came on an off night or if the new ownership of the hotel has taken things in a different direction, but our group felt The Preston fell way short of what we expect when we come to The Chase. We love this place! The octopus is not to be missed!!! (Seriously, I know it might be out of your comfort zone but it is worth it!) The pork tenderloin and the duck confit salad are excellent too. Tonight we randomly ordered the assorted bread and we loved that also. We are surprised more people aren't at this restaurant and we want more people to come here so it is successful!! read more

I'm a big fan of the Chase. However, I had breakfast their today and ordered the huevos rancheros. It was a soupy messy mashup of ingredients on top of a flour tortilla. Either the chef who designed his take on this dish or the person who prepared & plated it got it wrong, it was awful. The cafe latte was also surprisingly not good. read more

The food was very good here and I enjoyed the drinks as well. I think we ordered more than needed though. It was suggested each person may need two dishes, but personally if you were looking for a filling meal without being over stuffed one dish would have been fine. read more

Service was slow to start. We had to wait to be seated, despite a reservation being made & the restaurant not busy. There was never a hello/welcome. After several minutes of waiting again, the waiter came by & poured coffee and never asked about what else we might want to drink, or even say welcome in or any other small chit chat (like have you dined with us before). He literally just said "coffee?", poured a few cups & then abruptly left. After several more minutes we stopped him and asked about other drinks/drink menu, in which there was none he said and he just offered mimosas or bloody Mary's. A few of us ordered OJ and tea, in which he forgot the tea. After waiting for some time again, he came back and wanted to take our order. I inquired about the eggs Benedict that was on the website menu, but not on the in restaurant version. At that point the waiter said our menus were the old ones from 3 years ago. He then grabbed 1 menu (despite all 7 of us having the old ones) and handed it to me. I then asked him to give all of us the new version, as there were several options not on the old one. They also had the bacon, sausage and ham listed under the beverage listing (this isn't a hole in the wall restaurant/hotel where mistakes might be expected. After finally getting our food, we realized there was no salt/pepper. Then we asked about getting some ketchup for the breakfast potatoes & then he left but never brought any. We asked another waiter to bring us ketchup, in which he brought 1 plastic cup with some. We had to ask for some extra, as 4 others wanted some as well. I never had a refill on my water or asked if I wanted another OJ. He did refill coffees once. Everyone said how bad the service was. Food wise, omelet and Mr. Preston were the highlights. Eggs Benedict, just ok. Hollandaise sauce had a weird taste to it. Sausage looked like it had been on a hot dog roller for 2 days. No one was wanting to come back anytime soon. One would expect more from the Chase. read more

Just had a fantastic dinner with some girlfriends at The Preston. Excellent service and wine menu. We shared a bunch of dishes, all of which were great. In particular, the arancini and charred octopus were favorites from the table. The tiramisu (with coffee cotton candy) was amazing and beautifully presented. Overall a great experience! read more

On Friday I decided to dine at the Chase Club for food but wasn't promptly acknowledged so I went into The Preston for the first time to see what all the "yelp" was about. The hosts were extremely professional and attentive to my agitation to be seated. My waitress Jerrica (spell check) was extremely beautiful and her service was phenomenal. She was elaborate about the items on the menu since she was aware that it was my first time and made awesome suggestions. I devoured the baby beet salad, the octopus, and the cheese board along with my date. We also had the port rib and monkfish! Talk about excellence at its best! Dessert was tempting especially the tiramisu, but we were stuffed for a place that sells small plates! I will definitely return for everything that I couldn't eat this time, my awesome waitress, and for the creative cocktails! ( Huckleberry Gin) I give this place a 3 thumbs up ! read more

Very over priced for portion size. I ordered the kung pao calamari. 14$ for maybe 8 oz. flavor was good but towards the end became quite overwhelmed by the seasonings. Almost turned my stomach a bit. Was just way over seasoned. My mother got the Baby Beet. I'm not a fan of beets but she enjoyed the dish. 11$ for like 10 beets does seem excessive. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Host was a very pleasant guy and comical. Atmosphere was nice. read more

This is probably in my top 5 restaurants list. Our family of four adults dined there recently. From cocktails to desserts it was fantastic. Original dishes and whimsical desserts at an average price. We are definitely returning to try more of the dishes. I highly recommend this not only for the food and prices but for the wonderful service we were given by the knowledgeable staff. Great service, better food. Nice little gem tucked away within the Chase. The charred octopus / gnocchi was one of the highlights of what we had as well as the pretzel croissants. The mussels didn't disappoint and the pork belly was a nice rich finish to our meal. We'll be back. read more

Very impressed with The Preston! Both food and service here were great and the booth seating offered an intimate setting great for date night. The pork belly was amazing! Our other dishes were fantastic as well: grilled octopus and gnocchi, smoked duck breast, and the meatballs. The Nancy's Night Out cocktail was outstanding as well. The Preston, formally Eau Bistro use to be my top pick for the best brunch in St. Louis City, but now it is the worst. What happened to the beautiful ice sculpture and the beautiful arrangement of the assortment of delicacies that please the palate? Today was my first time returning this year and I was so disappointed. The woman who greeted us at the door had a beautiful smile and she was warm and welcoming. She was the only one. The remainder of the staff were stoic and zombie like. I overheard the manager degrading the staff as if they were servants. He did not greet the customers or check on them like previous managers. I asked our waiter for extra napkins and with a look as if I was bothering him he stated "You need more than one?". The unlimited mimosa's and unlimited Bloody Mary bar has been eliminated, instead there is 1 mimosa that comes with the overpriced meal. The selections of food have been downsized. There were gnats all over the place including the food. I observed the staff fanning at the food as if that would make the gnats go away, how disgusting. To add insult to injury, the price for the buffet has increased to $48.95 from $42.00. Apparently there have been renovations, but it lessened the ambiance and explains the price increase. If you haven't patronized this place since the renovations I would suggests you walk on by to another place without gnats and nice staff. read more

This place barely deserves one star. Terrible service, it almost seems that the waiter didn't understand how to serve and this comes from me a person who has been a server in the past. My friend complained and the manager was rude to my friend and told her she didn't know what she was talking about. Drinks not ever brought out, the server never even took drink orders from the other side of the table... And food never even brought out after ordered. Food was ok but the service sucked!! read more

I went to the preston with a group of friends (16 of us total) today. I got there late while my friends were already sitting there. When I found out I didn't have a dinner set I found our waiter immediately, he said he was going to get me one but made me waited for 20 minutes. Then I had to found him again, and this time, he got my dinner set in less than 5 minutes. Then my friends and I waited another 20 minutes for our menus. When we eventually got our food, it was already an hour after we got there. After we finished, I had to found our waiter again in order to check. Unsurprisingly, we waited 30 minutes for the waiter to bring us our check. And he never came back to collect them. So I walked out and found one of their manager told her what happened on us and she said yeah it takes a little bit longer since we split our check. Then I said "yes, I understand, but I assume it doesn't take as long as half an hour ". Then she left. 2 minutes later, we were all set. So disappointed! read more

This is for a review for late last year... Ambiance is beautiful but that is the only compliment I can give. Went here for a girls night evening and had planned to have dinner and drinks before hitting the ballet immediately afterwards. Our waiter, although nice, was very forgetful. He forgot drink orders for many in my group and he also forgot my entire meal!!!! The dishes were not brought out as a group but sporadically. Some in my group had finished their meal and then the next two plates would come out-- So I didn't realize my dish was never going to make an appearance until it was too late. I spoke with the manager about the mishap, A Mr. Pickett, and it was like I was in the twilight zone. (Earlier he came over to my group and asked us about the occasion so he was aware that we had another event to attend etc) His solution was "oh I will have your meal packed up for you right away". Why? So it can sit in my car for 2-3 hours? No thanks. Of course I said it nicer but he pretty much shrugged his shoulders as if he were all out of ideas.. I just walked away. Others at my table had complaints as well. One other woman from my group spoke with him. I'm not 100% sure what my friend said to him but we ALL heard his response loud and clear: "There were 10 of you!"... (There was actually 9 of us) my table all got quiet. We all just felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable. If they were unequipped to handle a large party then why except the reservation? We all just wanted to get out of there. As we were getting out our cards to pay for our food (and me, just my drinks:( )--- Mr Pickett came to deliver the bills-- all were zeroed out, but the damage had already been done. I will never be back. Oh I could barely focus on the show I was sooooo friggin hangry!!!! Beware. read more
