Food portions are great, taste great, home style cooking. With limited staff 2 servers, keeps the tables served and good attitude. Love the large windows, bring in light and interior design old 80's feel.

No reservations = first come first served! I've been wanting to try The Red Wagon every time I drive by & seeing the long lines of people champing at the bit, waiting to get in. Makes the mind think - that place must be awesome. LOL. The Red Wagon has been going strong since 2010 & is definitely the backbone of EastVan, offering a great brunch. Keep in mind that dinner is available on some evenings, so please check the website. It is an ol skool laid back diner themed restaurant. Very popular amongst the locals & the curious & never been before - the last part includes me. It's all about the food & I gotta say, it was a hit. Try the Pork Belly - it's very good. One of the better ones I've had throughout Metro Vancouver. The Trucker - pancakes, toast, eggs & potatoes (I added avocado), is fantastic. Everything tasted on point. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I will definitely be going back.

I have wanted to try Red Wagon for so long as i'd heard so many good things. I am a HUGE pancake fan and decided to go with the Trucker. This included eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns AND 2 pancakes for $18. The value was insane!! The pancakes were incredible and some of my top pancakes in Van. Fluffy, buttery and just all around delicious. The rest of the food on my plate was super tasty and i got a good amount of bacon. Nowadays, $18 is fair and a pretty good deal for what you get. Especially considering the Pancakes alone were $16. why not go for it and get the trucker! Reason why they're losing a star. Service. The waitress was not friendly or welcoming or inviting. I was the one that said hi to here?! Why the bare minimum. Maybe it's just me but i expect decent service or friendliness at a sit down. The new location is beautiful, clean and a good size. Make sure to come early so you get a spot (i'd say before 10:30/11).

We originally took an uber to the Red Wagon and it took us a few feet away from this location so it may have been down the street previously. They make you wait outside for them to seat you which thankfully wasn't that long at all for us. There wasn't that many people when we arrived but once we ordered, the food did take quite a bit of time to come out. It was worth it because the food was delicious! I had ordered a breakfast sandwich and my friend ordered the Super Trucker and I ate one of her pancakes and everything was sooo good! She did note that the pork belly did have a lot of fat so she didn't end up eating it.

Really loved this place! Their menu has a good mix of traditional items as well as some more unique/fusion ingredients or dishes for traditional brunch. I got the breakfast bah mi with pork belly and it was so damn good. My husband got the Benny and loved it as well. For East van, the restaurant is the perfect mix of elevated diner vibes which I appreciate. Pricing is very fair for being close to downtown and how good the food is. Will definitely be back again!

I had brunch at their previous location. After they have moved, I have been here a couple of times. I always like to order their Trucker or Super Trucker. I know I can't finish the whole dish and am always happy to pack the leftover home, so I can enjoy the rest of the food later They are located right on East Hastings. There is a lot of street parking. I usually park at the residential area and walk to the restaurant. They put up a sign at the entrance and ask customers to wait to be seated. They are always full and a lot of customers wait to have breakfast and lunch here on weekdays and weekends. It's a bit crazy but it's good in a way that people can dine out after a long Covid period. They only do breakfast, brunch and lunch. They close at 3pm and don't offer dinner. The servers are always friendly and polite. I do recommend this Canadian restaurant for brunch.

The Red Wagon has rolled down the block! I got to dine in at their newly opened location today, and it was such a lovely experience. Due to COVID-19, the restaurant allows a maximum of one hour for each table to stick around. But because of the efficient service, this is more than enough time to enjoy your food. The staff were all extremely friendly and chipper, and it made for a positive service experience. The food - although the portions aren't super big, the flavours are spot on. We tried the daily special, which was an Italian sausage eggs benedict with basil hollandaise. I think there was also a sweet, tangy tomato jam spread on the English muffin. It was so good that my sister and I spent a good couple minutes lamenting the fact that it's not a mainstay on the regular menu. The crispy pork belly was also delicious, and the accompanying potatoes were hot and buttery. I only wish there had been some more salsa verde on top! Comparing to other brunch prices in Vancouver, it's certainly not overpriced, but I wouldn't say it's cheap either. The new digs are really nice! Got a good view of the mountains out the window, and the layout was clean and spacious. Definitely planning to be back!

Got takeout today. Honestly was extremely disappointed. I don't mind if food is sightly burnt but see pics. Is this acceptable to eat? It is not for me. It's too bad. The last time I came to red wagon before covid it was pretty good but once they moved to new location. Food is definitely soso. Maybe it was just my order but extremely disappointed and had to order ramen from other restaurant instead. Mmm will not go there for awhile.

The Red Wagon has been a neighbourhood staple for many years. I recall when I was still in university and frequenting them fairly regularly. They were even featured on Food Network's Diner's Drive-ins and Dives. Fast forward a decade later, at their new location, we decided to rekindle with some nostalgia on a Wednesday morning. Due to COVID they had big signs for you to wait outside before being seated, we followed their protocols and were greeted promptly by a server. We were informed that the only tables available were their back patio, which works for us. They had adjustable and tilting umbrellas on each of the picnic benches which was a thoughtful thing to put in given the strong afternoon sun. Service overall was quite slow. We waited over 40 minutes for our food after ordering. Our waitress did acknowledge our food took longer than usual as their kitchen was backed up. A table beside us who ordered after us got their food first and a table behind us who sat down for less than 15 mins got their food the same time as we did. We have no problem waiting, but it would have been nice to get an update ahead of time. We ordered the Trucker Breakfast as well as the BBQ Brisket. The bacon was still the same as before, cured in house. The pancakes were fluffy with hints of bacon grease, along with their Jack Daniel's syrup. Overall a solid breakfast. The brisket on the other hand was quite disappointing. The BBQ sauce was really sour, to the point where it drowned out all other flavours. I could not taste any smokiness, seasoning or even the beef. The sourness was so overpowering that you had to drink sips of water in between bites to wash it down. Our server was efficient, looking after 6 tables outside by herself, but we were never checked up on how our food or meal was. Overall we have very mixed feelings about Red Wagon.

I can't stop coming here. I just wish there were more days off so I can savour the sweet delicious brunch while everyone else is at work. It started with the pulled pork pancakes (avec JD Maple Syrup, of course) then one day I decided to get something else because, you know, I wanted to branch out. The whole time I kept dreaming of the pulled pork pancakes... and the accompanying JD maple syrup (obviously). This time, I learned my lesson and ordered what is now my "usual" with a side order of the angel- I mean "pork" belly (extra JD maple syrup to make up for last time) I've lined up for the food before, and would do it again, but since it's getting cold outside, I'll just come during the week while everyone else is earning a paycheque. Did I mention the JD Maple Syrup is served warm?

Hipster feel-good brunch place. Quite similar to Jethro's in terms of feel. Parking is available on the side streets. The place is a bit worn down and old. In hipster talk, this place would "have character". Staff were friendly and helpful. Prices are a wee bit high, but this is normal for hipster type places. Something something supporting local community. BBQ brisket - served on corn bread and hidden under eggs. Great flavour. Eggs Benedict - to be honest, nothing really stuck out, but they were still good. They also have a house hot sauce that is smoky and spicy. Definitely worth checking out. Looks like breakfast here is all day, which is great for avoiding the weekend hordes.

If you've got a craving for breakfast/brunch food The Red Wagon has got it! This restaurant can get pretty busy so be prepared for lineups on the weekends. We came here on a Thursday morning so we got a table right away. They have breakfast and lunch items on their menu with meat and vegetarian options. I decided to get The Trucker which includes 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, bacon or sausage or avocado (your choice) and toast. I ended up packing some to go as it was a good sized portion.

Pulled pork cornbread benny, hollandaise on the side.

Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. I chose to sit outside on the patio instead of inside at the bar to take in that Canadian Vitamin D! It was sunny and hot, but the patio had a great view and was perfect for people-watching. My server, Dursh (or something close to that), was really cool. He asked my name, made me feel welcomed, and gave solid recommendations. He even picked my drink for me, which I ended up enjoying. He suggested a Benedict dish, but I'm not a fan of runny eggs. I had already decided on the El Camino poutine and plot twist....it also came with two runny poached eggs. Even so, it was still delicious, mainly because the yolk texture wasn't an issue with the crema on the dish. That poutine was an easy 9/10. It came loaded with cheese curds, pork carnitas that weren't dry at all, bacon, pinto beans, roasted pineapple for a little sweetness, salsa, jalapeños, pickled onions, salsa verde, cilantro crema, and spinach. The herb potatoes were seasoned so well too. All in all, a great last meal in Vancouver from the food to the service (even beyond Dursh, everyone was helpful) to the patio vibe. Great spot.

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the food? So much of it. We actually had to take some home, which almost never happens with high tea. The pastries and sandwiches were not only beautifully presented, but also creative and well-executed--nothing felt like filler. You can tell there was real thought put into the menu. The space itself is elegant and charming, making it perfect for a pre-spring outing, a catch-up with friends, or a low-key celebration. Would I come back? Absolutely--especially for a themed menu like this.

But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. I'd ordered the eggs "very soft" and they verged on medium-firm. They still tasted good. I'll gladly pay extra for the truffled potatoes next time. My husband ordered the salmon avocado benny. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. Exemplary. 5 stars out of 5.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.
