We ate at The Ridge last week for the first time since the new owners took over. I have a gluten intolerance, so dining out in a new place is always a bit scary for me. But everything was wonderful! The waitperson was friendly and she reassured me that the chef was very aware of gluten precautions. They even have gluten-free pasta, which they assured me was cooked in separate water from their regular pasta. The food was delicious and the portions are very generous. All in all, one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've ever had. We showed up without a reservation (on a Wednesday), and our hostess took a moment but let us know while no tables were available, there was a couple at the bar that were about to be seated, so we could have their seats in a few minutes. There were 2 men working the bar - they were exceptionally pleasant and accommodating - we were seated right next to the area where wait staff had to pick up drinks - so actually a bit in there way - and were greeted with smiles and small talk. The food was outstanding and plentiful. (I got the sausage ravioli special and my wife got the eggplant rollatini) but what made the experience so great were the people - I'm an introvert and don't need to be catered to or doted on - what struck me was the respect the staff had for the guests AND each other. Haven't been to the Ridge in a year and we thought we would try their "happy hour" on a Thursday. I told my wife not to worry that it was three or four courses because they are probably giving smaller portions during happy hour. We arrived promptly for our reservation. All the staff were very welcoming making us feel like it would be a comfortable meal. The appetizers and dishes that we tried were just like off the main menu. And were very good. As out of the area visitors, we were not aware that almost every restaurant in the area requires a reservation for Friday night dinner. The Ridge was the 3rd place we tried with no luck to be seated so we opted for take out. Five meals took about 40 minutes to prepare and the food was fantastic! The meatballs were so tasty and fresh. The atmosphere is jovial with a lively bar area and the main dining room, though noisy on a Saturday night, was definitely tolerable. The food is very good and the portions are bountiful. What can I say? It was outstanding. I will recommend that you make a reservation. I went for the first time Sunday (7-17-22) night thinking most out of town people visiting the lake would be gone but it was full so my wife and I had dinner at the bar. The food was excellent. I had chicken and shrimp with fettuccini in a pesto cream sauce and it was outrageous. My wife had veal with mushrooms and spaghetti in a wine sauce and it too was fantastic. We sat next to two long time customers who proclaimed this to be their favorite place to eat while at their vacation home. We have many great places to eat in Honesdale (next town if you are not familiar) and this will be added to the list. It is in Hawley, not right next to the lake if you are looking by Gresham's or the Boat house, it is up the road in a small town area. Everything is homemade. You know it the minute you take your first bite. They start with a fresh baked clove of garlic and oil to use on your bread. Then a generous salary. Of course everything is dependent on the main course and it does not disappoint. I will be going back very soon. This is the best Italian restaurant in the area if not the entire state. One of my favorites in NEPA, The Ridge is perfect when you wish to enjoy a leisurely, fantastic meal with friends and family. Great cocktails, delicious and generous dishes and friendly, attentive service make this place perfect for an evening out. RESERVATIONS are a must, especially on weekends. They are sticklers for seating you close to your exact time (understandable with the attentive service) so even if you come a little early be prepared to wait until your reservation time. They have a comfortable lobby to sit, since this is also in the Belvedere hotel. There are three seating areas, a casual room to the right of the entrance, the bar area and the main dining room, which is perhaps the nicest with a lovely fireplace and tin decorated ceiling - a great place to relax and spend time. The food is great anytime and worth the price, but the early bird specials (seating before 5:45pm) are the move! $25(!!) gets a you a full 4 course meal that will knock you socks off! Nearly the entire menu is available. Before ordering your server will pull up a seat and go over the extensive specials for the evening, all sounded tempting and amazing, but if available that early bird special is too good to pass up! For appetizers I highly recommend the hot antipasto for 2. Get an order for every 2 people in your party if you enjoy clams, shrimps, mussels, stuffed mushrooms, eggplant rollatini - it is so generous it could be a meal in itself. The seafood is lightly breaded with a white wine sauce, the others have a delicious tomato based sauce. Great for dipping their fresh bread. The house Italian salad is served family style for our group of 5, or you can upgrade to a Caesar for $3 a person. For the entrees order what you like and you will not be disappointed. They have classics such styles as Parmigiano, Francese, Marsala, Sorrentino, etc. I recently ordered the Salmon Carciofi, which was topped with seasoned breadcrumbs and artichoke, cherry tomato - Salmon was a thick piece that melted in my mouth - I loved it! Linguine Mare Mondo is served with jumbo shrimp, mushrooms, fresh spinach in a pinot grigio, garlic and tomato brodetto - fantastic! Veal Genovese was another delicious winner. I truly don't think you can make a mistake with these made to order dishes. For dessert is limited usually to a single option - cannolis were included with our meal, but we've upgraded before trying the carrot cake, cheese cake and found them exquisite. The beer and wines come in at the $5-$6 range and they have a great selection. I enjoy the cocktails, usually starting off with a Nigroni - bombay sapphire, sweet vermouth and Campari served in Martini glass. So perfectly well made and chilled. So make a reservation and enjoy a meal that is a bit of a revelation in this day and age when most restaurants are looking to bust you out, then push you out the door - you will love the relaxed service and reasonable prices that makes the Ridge such an awesome spot! read more

I had a take out dinner at The Ridge at the end of August 2022 while my girlfriend and I were visiting that area. The salmon, the sauce it was cooked in, the green veggies, all of it was wonderful! One of the most enjoyable meals I've had since before COVID, in fact! We stayed in Hawley for the long weekend and spotted the Ridge on our walk around town. We tried to walk in for dinner Saturday but were not able to get a table. We made reservations for Sunday while we visited. When we returned the next day we were welcomed into a cozy dining room giving off the perfect Italian restaurant vibes. Our server, (and I hate that I can't remember her name- Carla? Cara?) ran through all the specials with us and made it very hard to decide. The meal was truly divine. Both I and my boyfriend agreed it was one of the top meals we had ever had. Service began with a basket of warm bread served with a roasted head of garlic in olive oil. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms - delicious! Then our entrees came with salad served family style, we choose Caesar. Exceptional. For our entrees we had the Sunday Sauce and Linguine Mare Mondo. Both were massive portions, especially the Sunday Sauce. We were both pretty stuffed at this point but did our best and nearly made a dent in the mains. Both were phenomenal. Though we didn't need it we finished up with a slice of tiramisu. Simply sensational. We were expecting it to be good- small town independent Italian restaurants usually are. But the Ridge surprised our expectations in every way. If I could, I would give ten stars! Duffy was our server. He not only took the time to go over the menu and specials with us, he pulled up a chair to determine exactly what our 8 year old granddaughter would like- whether it was on the menu or not. We kept her busy with notebook paper which she folded origami with. When she gave Duffy one of the cats she made, he encouraged her to make one for each staff member. He even brought her into the kitchen to give one to the chef! While we were extremely grateful for the attention he gave her, he said that she made the night special for all of the staff! Now for the food- OUTSTANDING! We enjoyed appetizers of muscles in red broth and clams in white. Suffice to say, when the muscles and clams were done, we packed up the broth to take home to enjoy with French bread! I enjoyed the eggplant rollatene. The eggplant was tender and perfectly balanced with ricotta and seasoning. The sauce was rich and topped with fresh mozzarella. The pasta was al dente. Two of the others had the halibut special and devoured every bite! My daughter raved about the fettuccine la Fontana! Food was abundant at our table and we all brought a good amount of food home with us! We were staying in the area for the weekend. We live an hour and a half away. We all agreed that the 90 minute drive would be well worth it to just come to Hawley to eat at The Ridge! read more

Very unfriendly staff. I tried to go to this restaurant two nights in a row. Why? I should not have. I made a reservation, on the second night, they first challenged me if I even had a reservation. The hostess was very rude. I had requested a seat in the bar area , they told me it was not possible as they were so full, yet no one was seated in that area. What a total disappointment as this was a celebration for my mom's 82nd birthday. Very disappointing, we definitely will not come back!!! The best quality Italian food in the area. I've been coming here for years, including with my folks who love the early bird special. My most recent visit last week during COVID was great too and their food was just as good as always. The Calamari is always so fresh without being over breaded (never greasy like most), the veal parm was on point and the portions are huge with beautiful plating. It's more expensive than other restaurants in the area, but the quality blows others out of the water. Plus during COVID I can totally understand why some places raise prices due to the dining restrictions and I'd rather support them so they can stay in business. Cocktails are good as well and I love that they show you the dessert option on a platter (although my waistline doesn't..lol). read more

Very very delicious food. I am Italian and I know good home cooking when I taste it... And I love that it's a family business. but the only thing that is a tad annoying is that if you get there at 7:57 and your reservation is for eight they will not sit u which I find absolutely silly. Otherwise it's fantastic and it has an amazing history. When you walk in the lobby check out the guestbook... Judy Garland and May West signed the book and checked in I believe the year was 1941. But I have a doubt it was really them they were both pretty famous at that time could've been someone else utilizing that name. read more

The food is amazing. I have never been disappointed with a meal here. The family that owns the restaurant are wonderful and accommodating. The space is always nicely decorated and you can have a big group in the back room or a more intimate table in the bar area. You can also sit and eat at the bar. The service is excellent. Had the most amazing dinner Friday night. The staff is fantastic. The dining room is so comfortable. The star of the night however is the food. We ordered two specials Grilled Portobello appetizer and the veal chop with jack Daniels sauce. We split both and it was more than enough. Pretty tasty and solid food. Not the absolute best but really solid and tasty. We had backed clams (really good), crab stuffed mushrooms (could not really taste crab but still good) and veal Milanese (it was really a veal Parmesan since it had tomato sauce and mozzarella). Veal was a bit dry but good overall. Also I though the pricing was really good given huge potions (entrees really should be shared). Service was decent for PA standards but not great. For example we ordered a bottle of wine and the bartended neither gave us a taste after opening the wine not poured it in our glasses. Ate dinner here over the weekend. The portions are HUGE, one entree is enough to feed 2-3 adults (also comes with a side salad). I ordered the chicken marsala which was delicious but VERY saucy. The rainbow cookie cake is amazing and a MUST. I'm only giving 4 stars because the service was VERY slow. I don't think it was a reflection on the servers but maybe the kitchen? The ridge is located in a very cool little old hotel called the Belvedere . 3. This place is old school little Italy style Italian minus the checkered table cloths . Menu outstanding with all the old school plates and some new ones too. Don't miss the meatballs with ricotta Cold antipasto , off the hook . Veal chop .parmigiana .. this ain't no sisco veal people , this is off the farm stuff , local no doubt . Chop filled the plate and I doubt there are many people that don't have to bring 1/2 of it home due to its size . My buddy who is 6'4 240ish ordered the chicken Marsala and same deal ,1/2 went in a togo container,it too was excellent . Potions are large and food is very very good . Don't miss this one if your ever in the area . And if you not in the area do yourself a favor and get there . To top off the great food everyone who works there seemed eager to please , very professional and on point . Tip them well, they work hard to make your dining experience a good one . We took my father in law here for the early bird special and I must say it was amazing for the price. $25 per person 4 course meal. The food was fresh and delicious even the bread was warm and soft to eat. I was a bit skeptical about the quality of food for such a low price but it blew me away how filling the portions were. The service was amazing! Jill was attentive and sweet, and just very welcoming. The atmosphere was warm and had a rustic feel to it which I enjoyed. This place is an absolute joke! Hostess told us to find a seat at the bar but didn't bother to go check if there were 2 seats available at the bar. There were 1 or 2 spots but they were at opposite ends of the bar of each other. So therefore my wife and I just stood there confused wondering where we were expected to sit. Luckily I knew the 1 waitress and she decided to help by asking a man at the end of the bar if he could move down so we could squeeze in. Once seated I said to my wife "where were we expected to sit down, the hostess made no effort to find us seats?" Well then a waiter getting drinks for his table decided to eavesdrop on our conversation started mouthing off to me when he overheard me and started defending said hostess. So then I said I'm having a private conversation that doesn't concern you so I'd appreciate it if you just keep your comments to yourself I'm talking to my wife. This guy goes and cries to the hostess about me and a few minutes later she comes out and hands us our bill for 2 beers and told us to get out because she's the stupid hostess who couldn't find us seats and her family owns the business so she told us to leave.... fuck this place! read more

The food here is delicious! We ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer which had great flavor. I ordered the strip steak for dinner and my husband had the Prime Rib and they came out still sizzling on the silver plates and were cooked perfectly.
